This was a brilliant read. As soon as I started reading this book I just knew I was going to love it. Highly recommended

Jenny Hale never fails to make me smile and escape. This book was no different.

It is a bright sunny read with a twist or 2. This is a perfect beach read that will make you wish you had enough savings to buy your own beach house.

I loved all the characters and as the story went on it wasn’t like I just sided with one person. I also loved Luke and I always fall a bit in love with any male main character that Jenny creates.

I love that I always feel like I’m there in the book with the characters.

Callie is one of my favourites in the book but I felt like I understood and got on with them all.

A fab beach read.

Callie Weaver with her best friend, Olivia Dixon, have finally done what they always wanted. They bought the beach house they have admired through their childhood summers, and they are going to turn the lovely house on the sands of North Carolina’s Outer Banks into a bed and breakfast. With everything to focus on the last thing Callie has in mind is falling in love, until she catches the attention of the very local heartthrob Luke Sullivan. With his easy smiles and charming personality, it’s hard to say no. The paper’s all splash him as an entitled playboy, but as Callie spends more time with Luke, she realizes that he is nothing that the media is trying to paint him to be. Underneath all the expectations, his struggles and generosity are just as real. But when Callie discovers an old journal in the house, she finds secrets that can shake an entire family.

I enjoyed this so much. This was just a lovely, quiet summer read. I adored the wonderful group of characters and how much this made me wish for warmer weather during this very cold and dreary spring.

Jenny Hale really has a way to bring her characters to live with flaws and all and make them easy to relate to and very human. Both Callie and Olivia give you the girl next door vibes that, have you rooting for them and their success with the beach house. The romance was super sweet and cute and I really enjoyed watching Luke and Callie grow close. I liked that Luke was just a bit out of touch because of money, but not to the point where it made him completely superficial. It made him that much more endearing in a way.

There is a bit of a secret in the story that leads to some revelations and complications, but I found that it worked and I enjoyed it.

Overall, I really loved how Jenny Hale writes her romances and her characters that just have a way of endearing themselves to you. Charming, with a lot of heart, and wonderful writing, The Summer House by Jenny Hale is just the book you need for the summer nights.

Bookouture and NetGalley provided me with an electronic copy of The Summer House. I was under no obligation to review this book and my opinion is freely given.

Callie Weaver and Olivia Dixon have been best friends since childhood, playing on the sandy beaches in North Carolina during the summers. When a house became available next door to Olivia's grandmother in the seaside village of Waves, the two friends took a leap away from their lives to fulfill their dreams of owning a bed and breakfast. After a chance encounter with the local playboy, Luke Sullivan, will Callie's path be altered forever?

The Summer House is a clean romance and would be perfect for a beach read. The story is not all that imaginative, but it definitely has that feel-good aspect that romance readers are looking for. It goes without saying that the book is wholly unrealistic, as the plot and side plot contain too many coincidences to ever be real. I did like the fact that the author portrays the two female main characters as strong, capable women. There is a sense of completeness to Olivia and Callie, that they could be women who live down the street in real-time America. Readers who are looking for a quick beach read will probably enjoy The Summer House.

The story is simple; Callie and Olivia have invested in a beach house to convert it into bed and breakfast. During the renovations they find a journal which releases the secrets it had been hiding within its pages and some would affect the people close to them
Jenny Hale has written a perfect summery story, meant to be read in the light sun by the sea with tea and cookies. Her descriptions and the flow of the story transported me directly on the sandy beach into the home and heart of the characters. The settings and words were just so romantic. And who wouldn't like a combination of romance and mystery. The warm fun loving characters Callie and Olivia, a wickedly hot hero, Luke with sun and the sea as the backdrop, and twists in the plot - what is not to like in this Jenny Hale summer read about friends and family
To top it all, the cover, oh the cover, just made me long to have my own summer story with my own Luke...

By now I have read a few books by Jenny Hale and she just never disappoints me.

The Summer House is a lovely feel good romance which is set in a small town on the Outer Banks. The atmosphere is cosy and has a summery touch to it.

The characters are loveable and I really liked Callie and Luke. They had a charming chemistry and Luke was such a sweet guy.

I wish there had been a bit more about the B&B Callie and her best friend set up.

The book is a perfect beach read with a HEA.

This is a good, modern, feel good story set in North Carolina.. It's the story of Callie and Olivia, two friends, who buy an old bed and breakfast to restore. It's right on the sea shore. Olivia has a young son Wyatt who lives with them. Callie meets Luke Sullivan one afternoon, she discovers he is a rich playboy who is always in the news. They get on well together and she begins to believe him when he says the reporters vastly exaggerate everything. Luke gets on well with Olivia and Wyatt. Whilst renovating, Callie finds an old journal and reads it she is shocked what she finds and is unsure what to do! Read on!

I loved the The Summer House as it was filled with intrigue, romance, friendship and family secrets.

Callie Weaver and her best friend, Olivia decide it’s time for fresh start and invest in a beach house.  Their plan is to renovate and open the house as a bed & breakfast at North Carolina’s Outer Banks. Whilst out getting some lunch one day, Callie unexpectedly meets local heartthrob, Luke Sullivan.  She finds herself drawn to him, despite feeling that a relationship is the furthest thing from her mind.

During the renovation process, Callie and Olivia come across an old diary belonging to the previous owner.  The diary is full of past secrets, with the potential to affect lives in the present.  They decide to give it to the owner’s brother to see what he wants to do with it.

What a perfect summer holiday read!  I loved the way that the author handled the story.  The setting was gorgeous and easy to visualise.  The characters were well developed and likeable.  I could easily imagine the seaside village and the characters.  I enjoyed the suspense that played out alongside the sweet romance when old secrets were revealed.

I was happy to discover that Luke, although coming from a wealthy family, wasn’t a “spoilt rich boy”.  Instead, he turned out to be a caring, helpful and very likeable character.  I found myself really rooting for Luke and Callie’s happily ever after.

This was an enjoyable and entertaining read, which I would recommend to anyone looking for a "time to chill and read" experience.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This feel-good book deserves 4 stars.

For 3 years now I read all new releases from Jenny and this time was no exception. I couldn't wait to read her new summer book and I am very happy that I did! In this story we are by the beach renovating a house into a bed and breakfast. Like in every Jenny Hale's book, the main male character is a rich and handsome man and with whom the main female character will get involved. I really enjoyed reading this book despite the fact that almost every Jenny Hale's book have almost the same story line. But the plot of this was was good and it's very well written as usual. Now I can't wait to read her "Christmas" book like I do every winter ;-) Thank you Jenny Hale for all those nice romance that make us dream ;-)

One of the main reasons I chose to read this book was the cover. It's just so darn cute and the book did not disappoint! I found myself smiling through the whole book and not wanting the book to end. The only thing I disliked about the book was the ending seemed abrupt. I wish there was another chapter or two to tell more about Claire and Luke's relationship. I hope there will be a second book! Overall the book was a great summer read and I will definitely be reading more books by Jenny Hale!

Heart-warming story of two women attempting to set up a new guest house, which contains a sweet romance, a slight mystery and a great feel of a small coastal location in North Carolina.

I really enjoyed the characters in this story, especially the leads Callie and Luke. Callie is focused on work and trying to get The Beachcomber ready for guests, and is really closed off to potential romances. She finds a journal that belonged to the previous owner that could contain secrets.

Callie is literally swept off her feet by Luke, in their first meeting. Luke is from the local rich family in town, and tries to escape the press a lot. As Luke’s character is revealed I found myself falling for him a bit more with each chapter. He is a lovely man who has many hidden depths to him.

The Summer House I found started off comfortably and I found myself liking the characters but around half way the pace and action kicks up a notch at which point I found it a lot harder to put down, and I was enticed into the book properly.

This is a good book that I enjoyed reading. I love this authors writing style although often find I prefer her Christmas books to her summer ones. With lovely characters, some surprises and a great feeling from the book, The Summer House is a cosy summer story.

Thank you so much to Netgalley and Bookouture for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

This is a brilliant book and I really enjoyed reading it.
What I like about Jenny Hale is the way she uses words to really capture a setting and make the reader fall into the story. The characters that she creates are truly magical. I have read her Christmas books and had to read one of her books set in the summer.

The summer house is absolutely beautiful, I enjoyed every page of this book. It is jam packed with emotion. I just adored the characters in the book they were so easy to connect with and ones you felt you knew for a long time. Definately the book of the summer!

I've read quite a few Jenny Hale books and enjoyed them and this one was no different. I liked reading about them doing up the house on the beach to a b&b and liked reading about the diy and art they were doing. I have a couple of criticisms although I understand I received an advanced copy of this book. Callie talked a lot about missing her grandmother and not being close to her Mum but it doesn't go into much detail regarding why. Also, I would have liked to hear more about the diary, I understand the revelation and the big secret which was good to read but it was like she found the diary and then we didn't hear anything about it for another couple of chapters. The book was well written and I enjoyed the storyline. I would recommend this book, especially to Jenny Hale fans and I would definitely look out for her next book, I always look forward to reading them. Thank you for letting me read and review this book.

The idea of buying a beach cottage and renovating it all summer has always appealed to me: Painting the deck rails white, power washing the cedar shingles, planting hydrangea, gutting the tiny kitchen and installing beachy-chic cupboards. How great would it be to paint the walls sea beeeze blue, shop for the right outdoor pillows at HomeGoods and commission a beach scene mural? The great thing about The Summer House is you get to have all the fun of a beach cottage reno… without all the work… and with a handsome guy taking you to lunch all the time… and finding an old diary… and a wonderful artist who just needed to reacquaint himself with his muse.

See, we might not get all that in real life – not in one summer anyway, but Callie and Olivia do. They share their summer with us, beach cottage, romance, family secrets, happily ever afters, and all.
