After a string of disastrous first dates, she finally meets a man and tumbles into love. But digital dating turns deadly when a killer scans profiles to select his targets. Penny must unravel the secrets lurking behind the men she meets before she’s “ghosted” for good. She never thought falling in love would mean fleeing from death…
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Great series. I hope there is more to come. 5*.

The world of online dating is a hit and miss place. Some relationships are genuine and some are most definitely not!

I felt the story was more focused on her social work which was enjoyable but craved more of the thriller side and focus on the murder.

Ah! This was so overwhelmingly bad I can barely think of the words to say. Falling in love with someone after approximately 3 dates? Going on a date every night? Ugh. If I wanted to read about desperado women.. well I wouldn't. This was made out to be a mystery/ thriller and that it was not. I hate writing bad reviews but I have to be honest!
Thanks to netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Review copy provided via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Ohhhh my Gosh! I am in love with mystery/thrillers & reading this, I was reminded of why! The description of this book instantly intrigued me so I requested a review copy from Netgalley & I was so excited to get approved! This was definitely a fun mystery & I look forward to reading more books by this author. This book kept me absorbed completely in the story till the very last page! The characters were immensely intriguing and enjoyable to read about, especially Penny Wade! Penny was fierce when it came to her job & that was just one of the traits that made her an admirable protagonist. I felt that the end was a bit abrupt but overall, this was a thoroughly enjoyable read! I was unaware that this book was part of a series but it can be read as a standalone.

This well a very well written book that had lots of questions scattered throughout; and thankfully they all were answered. This book was different than what I was expecting but very good, especially how the author described the individual blind dates that Penny and Gloria went on; explaining the struggles to find someone.
There was a story within a story with one of Penny's cases single mother Ashley and her two children; the author did an amazing job describing their life and taking the reader on a rollercoaster of emotions along with them.
Thank you NetGalley and Lucy English for allowing me to read and give a honest review of this book.

I went into this book knowing nothing about the author, but I'll give you some information that you may find interesting. Lucy English is a sociologist, and this is a self-published book (I think). Penny Wade, the heroine, is a Boston social worker and proud of her city. I'd recently read some good mysteries with strong female characters who also aren't afraid to be a little bit girly, and I was in the mood for something similar. I've got a huge TBR list, but the title of this book stood out in my mind. It's not especially easy to find either on Netgalley or on Goodreads- you have to use the author name- but I found it.

The beginning of the book is a bit of a rough start- we segue into things that I didn't know about, not having read the previous book, and it took me a bit to find my place. Then I began to get to know Penny, her roommate Gloria and her friend Toryn.

The mystery part of the book doesn't even start until about halfway through the book, when a death occurs. Penny has been drawn into investigating suspicious deaths before because of her social work clients. Reading about her cases really was what made me like Penny. She could come aross as a bit ditzy, but when she was working a case she was warm, empathetic, intuitive, and constructive. The case focused on in this book was about a young mother who had been reported by the school for possible neglect of her two kids. Social workers operate on a timeline, and Penny needed to see some sort of progress quickly in order to make a positive recommendation for this family. While she quickly diagnosed the mother with depression related to the death of her sister, she had to work on concrete improvements in how the kids acted at school, how messy the house was, and how to assess safety, while dealing with a mom who didn't trust her. I've worked cases similar to this and it rang pretty true.

With regard to online dating, Penny felt a bit "young" to me. She and her friend Gloria both were using the same service and using each other as support and a second set of eyes. They both tried not to care too much too early, and learned about safety measures as they went along. The online dating wasn't the key to the mystery, although it had something to do with it.

I'd read another book by this author again because Penny is a nice virtual girl-friend to read about. She's a little self-conscious but not too much, knows how to handle herself most of the time, loves her city, is passionate about her job, cares about other people. From this book I wouldn't expect a complicated mystery, or one that takes up the entire plot. I'd almost characterize it as chic-lit with some mystery involved. Which is a good thing if you're in the mood for something a bit lighter, which I was!

Sadly, I couldn't finish this one. Got to about 25% and just really wasn't intrigued by Penny or her dates. While it read quickly it just wasn't for me.

Girl Ghosted is from a series. It can be read as a standalone. It's a quick read. Girl Ghosted is a cozy mystery. The story is a bout a social worker and follows one of her cases. It also shows the necessity of taking precautions when online dating.

When I read the book description of ‘Girl Ghosted’ a view weeks ago, I immediately knew this was a book I wanted to read. I love mysteries, and a mystery involving a social worker just sounded so new and interesting that I decided to request a review copy. And I’ve been super lucky to get approved and was able to start reading ‘Girl Ghosted’ soon after.

In ‘Girl Ghosted’ we meet social worker Penny Wade. Penny is working a new case involving a young mother and her two young children. This case is definitely hard for Penny. But Penny is determined to make this case one of her bests, and to get on her boss’s good side. Unfortunately not everyone seems to work with Penny, but thankfully Penny doesn’t give up soon. This also come in handy in her personal life. Next to her work, Penny is trying online dating. After a view bad dates, she now finally has a nice date, followed by a second one and a third one. But soon Penny finds out that online dating is not as save as she thought it was.

When I first started reading ‘Girl Ghosted’ I found myself needing a little time to get used to the main character Penny. She seemed a little off at times and I wondered if I was missing something. But what I didn’t know was that this is the third book in the Penny Wade Mysteries series, and, I probably missed some stuff that was explained in the first two books. For example the reason why Penny has these kind of panic attacks every ones in a while. But since I just found out about this book being part of a series after I finished the book, I can definitely say it can be read as a standalone.

After the first view chapters this book started to get more and more interesting to me and I found myself being intrigued by the characters. Penny was different, and very passionate about her job. Although her boss didn’t think that was a good thing most of the time, I admired her for her passion. The way Penny worked the case of a young mom Ashley and her two young children.. I loved it. I would have like to read more about that case though. In the end I kind of felt like that part of the story ended rather abruptly.

‘Girl Ghosted’ was definitely a fun mystery novel which made me want to read more books by this author. It wasn’t a perfect read, I found the ending a little rushed for example, but this book definitely kept me hooked till the very end.

If you thought Girl Ghosted would read like the sadly short-lived MTV show Eye Candy, than you're sadly going to be disappointed. This novel has gotten more hype than it probably should've; we don't get to know Penny's prior crime-solving background enough and the characters English has created aren't relatable. I read quickly; this book took me more than a week to finish (rather than a day), because I didn't care enough to finish it.

Boston social worker Penny Wade is trying her hand at online dating. After a few awkward dates, she connects with a guy immediately. The only problem is that after their hook-up, he seems to have ghosted on her. Soon she finds out he drowned. As she struggles at work to help a depressed and overwhelmed mother keep custody of her children, Penny begins to have suspicions that her lover was murdered. Determined to find out the truth, she puts her own life in danger. An enjoyable read with an interesting look at social work and counselors.
