I'm still in shock at that ending. As the mystery unfolds, it really is one shock after another. My only complaint is that you really need some tissues handy for the final column. The recipes sound delicious, and I'm working on figuring out if I can turn those cocktails into mocktails.

Hayley and her friends Mona and Liddy are getting away for a girl's weekend in Salmon Cove, Maine. Little do the three of them know that the weekend comes complete with murder, after Hayley and Liddy discover a dead body on the beach.

The well written plot moves along at a nice steady pace. There are some twists and turns thrown in the plot to keep you guessing until the end, where they come together neatly. The characters are so well developed that they seem lifelike.

Death of a Lobster Lover is the ninth installment in the Hayley Powell Food and Cocktails Mystery series featuring food columnist Hayley Powell. Hayley and her best friends Liddy and Mona are taking a much needed girls weekend in Salem Cove, ME to enjoy the town's Lobster Festival.

Hoping that the weekend away will help Liddy get over her recent breakup with lawyer beau Sonny, the girls weren't prepared when Liddy falls helplessly head over heels for the smarmy travel reporter Jackson Young. Less than impressed with Mona's run down family cabin, things go from bad to worse when Hayley stumbles upon the dead body of Jackson lying on the beach.

The trio soon finds themselves suspects in the man's murder and Hayley is determined to clear their names. Thwarted at every turn by overzealous Sheriff Daphne Wilkes who seems to have a vendetta against the women, Hayley soon discovers that the Sheriff is harboring a personal grudge and would love to see the ladies locked behind bars.

An action packed plot makes this installment a quick page turner that's hard to put down. The antics of Hayley and her friends will have you laughing out loud. With the story set in a vacation locale none of the secondary characters readers of the series are familiar with including Hayley's two children, her brother Randy and his husband Sergio, and Veterinarian Aaron Palmer appear. The love lives of her two best friends are the focus in this edition, and a surprising twist at the conclusion will leave you in tears. Definitely a "don't miss" in the series.

I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley via Kensington Publishing. While not required to write a review I am more than happy to share my honest opinion.

Salmon Cove Maine is the destination weekend for Hayley Powell and her girlfriends. Mona and her family used to summer there and the family cabin is sitting empty. The girls are a little dismayed at the shape of the cabin but the town is full with other tourists. When a guest at the hotel is found dead on the beach and an elderly local dies the girls start an investigation much to the local sheriff's dismay. Book 9 in the Hayley Powell series, I've read a couple and they are all stand alone. I like the local, it sounds like someplace I'd like to visit. The girls are in rare form for this humorous well written cozy.

Mona, Liddy and Haley were heading to Salmon Cove, Maine for a fun girls weekend. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one argument after another and their quaint cabin turned out to be a dump. Just when Hayley thought it could not get any worse they found a body. The body was a man who stood up Liddy and now they find themselves involved in solving a murder.

What I thought was going to be a simple cozy mystery took me on an interesting journey with a lot of twists and turns that came together neatly at the end. And if all the talk about lobster makes you hungry, luckily the story comes complete with lobster recipes that you will be sure to enjoy.

Food Columnist Hayley Powell is on a weekend getaway with her two best friends, Liddy and Mona, to Salmon Cove, Maine. She’s hoping for a relaxing trip, but murder gets in the way. When Liddy’s date stands her up and is found dead on the beach, Hayley believes that there’s more going on than meets the eye. As she starts to investigate, she draws the ire of the local sheriff. Can Hayley find the truth before she’s put in jail?
This was a great cozy mystery filled with plot twists that made you think you figured out the truth, when you were not even close. The characters were quirky and fun to get to know, although everyone seemed to have a secret. Being from the Northeast, I miss the clambakes, and love how the author made the scenery and food mouthwatering. The one thing I didn’t like is the ending. I’m a person who reads to escape reality and look for the happily ever after. Towards the end, I thought I found it, but the last pages made me feel sad. It was an immense let down for me. An Advanced Reading Copy was received in exchange for an honest review.

This book focused and tested the friendship of Hayley, Liddy, and Mona. They've set out on their friendcation that they due early this time there in Salmon Cove where nothing is what it seems. From Mona finding an old flame too Liddy getting a new one and Hayley trying to keep the piece. Then wham a corpse then bam author one, Salmon Cove is making home look peaceful and serene. The ladies have too deal with a hateful sheriff, sneaky towns people and dead mobster not to mention a attacking bat. This will keep you going from page one until the end. Side note the ending with Hayley blog is a great one yet sad it's a must read.

Death of a Lobster Lover is the ninth book in Lee Hollis’s Hayley Powell Mystery series.
There are lots of laughs and no adult language, graphic violence, or sexually explicit situations in this book. The story moves along at a steady pace, the mystery is well plotted, and the characters are well developed. There are twists and turns that keep the reader guessing.

Hayley Powell is the office manager and food columnist for the Island Times in Bar Harbor, Maine and she humorously writes about her memories of past events and includes tasty recipes in her column. Haley and her two best friends, Liddy Crawford and Mona Barnes, are having a girls’ weekend in Salmon Cove, Maine and staying at a cabin Mona’s Uncle Cecil owns. When they arrive, they discover it’s in bad repair, small, and there isn’t an inside bathroom but at least it appears to be fairly clean. Sonny Rivers recently broke up with Liddy, although she insists they are just taking a break from each other, but when she meets Jackson Young, she’s forgets about Sonny. Jackson asks Liddy to be his date for Salmon Cove’s Annual Lobster Bake but stands her up. Mona reconnects with Corey Guildford, her childhood friend, who declares that he’s always loved her and still does even though she’s married and has children. Hayley makes a new friend, Polly Roper, who is her counterpart in Salmon Cove and goes out of her way to help Hayley and her friends. Local sheriff, Daphne Wilkes, has it in for them, ticketing their car and causing problems for them at almost every turn. Unfortunately, after the Lobster Bake winds down, Liddy and Hayley discover Jackson’s body on the beach and it appears he’s been strangled.

I'm a huge fan of this series and I look forward to every one.
Hayley, Liddy and Mona are on a girls getaway weekend in Salmon Cove, Maine.
This should be a fun time for this trip of friends, but Liddy is licking her wounds after a bad breakup. Cheering their friend up isn't easy, but some attention from a handsome tourist seems to work.
Unfortunately, he winds up dead, putting the three of them into the middle of another investigation.
Even though I really enjoyed this book, it wasn't as good as the ones set in her own home town. It added a nice twists, but I did miss the home town element.

I voluntarily read an ARC of this book provided by the publisher and NetGalley.

Fun and extremely riveting, this cozy is full of more twists and turns than Liddy's plans!

This is another great addition to an engaging and enjoyable series. Hayley, a food and cocktails columnist (and what a great job that is!) for the Bar Harbor Island Times is taking a break with her two dear friends, Liddy and Mona in Salmon Cove, Maine to help Liddy get over a recent breakup. Liddy finds a new romance while they are on their trip, but soon afterwards her new guy gets himself murdered and Hayley and her friends are once again on the hunt for a killer. This is a great mystery with a lot of different twists and turns. Hayley is the type of person you can easily relate to and, as usual, she has a great supporting cast. This book made me laugh out loud while at the same time it kept me in suspense. I loved it and look forward to many more adventures with Hayley.
