Book two in Charlene Sands' Forever Texan series, Loving the Texas Lawman is a modern day western romance with a marriage of convenience theme. Sheriff Jack Walker had his heart broken by Jillian Lane years earlier when she left the town of Hope Wells with her mother and stopped replying to his letters. Jillian has returned to the town as a successful businesswoman facing problems with her business because of a man she was involved with. The sexual tension between these two fairly sizzles, and it's pretty clear they still love each other though neither will admit it. The story moves along nicely and the escalation of incidents affecting Jillian's business make for a good secondary plot. All in all, this has been an enjoyable read.

Jillian has come home and can already feel she is not going to get a welcome mat, she just wants to belong and she has come up with a plan and she's hoping Jack will help her this one last time. Jack has everything going for him he loves his job, he loves his town they all consider him a hero and now he is trying to save a little boy who has become a huge part of his life. When a blast from the past comes to town he is forced to make a choice he normally would not make. Can he salvage this mess that he's been thrown into or will trouble just be to much for both of them?
You can never beat good cowboy story. This small town is no different then every small town america, there is gossip, people who always in your business, everyone has a story they want to hide behind. That is the same case with Jillian and Jack. They find themselves in separate situations where they need each other and the author keeps you hooked just trying to find out what happens next in this crazy town. The love between these two even though they fight it is explosive the author did an amazing job keeping you hooked with the little bit of suspense, a love that was beyond understanding. This book was a super fun read. There is adult language and adult scenes throughout so it may not be for all readers.

Book received from NetGalley.

I hate to admit that this was a dud for me. The beginning was too abrupt and felt like there should have been a few more paragraphs to help set the stage for the story. It could have been the fact that it is the second book in the series, but no matter how hard I tried I just could not get into the plot.

This is the second book in this series by this author. These books are so easy to read and very hard to put down when you have started. This author writes fantastic characters in every book. I was left wanting more when I'd finished this book. You will fall in love with the characters from the first page. The story line is fantastic and will keep you hooked. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.
Highly recommended

Jillian returns to Texas to get away from trouble and comes to Jack, her first love to help. They must find a way to fight the present trouble following her to find a future. So enjoyed these two characters and the setting for the story line. This author did good job keeping the reader engaged to the end.

Ebook from Netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.

A familiar but well done trope is at the heart of Loving the Texas Lawman. Jillian Lane and Sheriff Jack Walker were high school sweetheart until Jillian's mover her to California. He was from a family of lawmen and Jillian was from the wrong side of the tracks. It would never work but now Jillian has built a successful company that is heading for trouble and she needs help. Returning to Texas and asking Jack seemed like a good idea. Of course it all goes wrong before it goes very right. A nice romance with interesting characters and plot.

Loving the Texas Lawman is a story about love once lost and found once again. At least that is what Jillian and Jack wants the small town of Hope Wells to believe. A fake marriage is what they both need to get something that they desperately need. Jillian needs Jack's polished and respectable reputation and Jack needs to adopt a little boy named Beau and having Jillian pose as his wife will give the illusion that he is able to care for Beau. Jillian, a lingerie designer, who comes back home to open a new store and to rebuild her business' reputation. Taken back at his first love return, Jack, the town sheriff, is determined to keep her at arms length. Unfortunately, fate has a plan and it involves love, sex, and a second chance at true love.

For the most part I enjoyed the story and the characters, but the pacing in this story is very slow. I was looking for the magic that took place in book one, but this book just did not have that same essence that book one had. Jillian was outgoing, intelligent and she was an entrepreneur. Other than those qualities, Jillian's character had nothing else to offer. Jack was the town sheriff and he had the hot lawman thing going on for him. He is trying to adopt this little boy who he rescued from a flood and I love their relationship. If it wasn't for the slow moving pacing of this story and the lack of an exciting hero, this book would be 5 star for sure.

I loved the ending and I absolutely enjoy a book without a cliff hanger.

Forever, Texas is a wonderful feel good series with Loving the Texas Lawman being an easy to read but hard to put down second book. I read it straight through in a couple of hours or so. Jack and Jillian’s story is full of second chances, losses, learning to trust and taking the risk for lasting love.

Charlene Sands has given us hard working, dedicated characters in this second book. The kind of characters you wish you could have as neighbors. Jack and Jillian’s story of a fake marriage seemed believable since they have a history together. Much of the story’s focus is on their relationship and one small orphan. There is more about Jillian as she reconnects with her former small town finding the acceptance there she has always craved.

I found their story to be quite entertaining. However, after finishing the book, I wanted to know more about what happen to the bad guys after they were caught, more about the eleven years Jack spent in Hope Wells after Jillian left and to have gotten to know Beau better. Everything about the story is great, I just wanted more expanded. For me that would have made this easily a 5 Star book.

Sometimes life is kind and we get another chance to do the right thing, for the right reason. And other times, well, we need a large dose of reality that gets past our stubborn pride. That’s what Jack and Jillian have to face in Loving The Texas Lawman – a hard dose of reality.

Years ago Jack and Jillian were teen aged sweethearts. He was the son of the sheriff she was the daughter of the town’s female drunk. It seemed that just about everything was against them but the bond they’d had was strong. Right up until Jillian was ripped away from her small home town to live in another state on the whim of her mother. It pretty much destroyed Jack and Jillian. Over time they lost touch, but neither forgot. Jillian went on to her own success leaving that young girl from the wrong side of town far behind her. Then life happened, and the only way to put her life back on track was to visit the past and ask the boy she’d loved for a huge favor – never knowing what that would ultimately cost her in the end.

Loving The Texas Lawman has so many layers to this story, some that I won’t speak of for I never want to spoil the story for someone. I was drawn into Jillian and Jack’s romance right from the start. It’s obvious to the reader that these two belong together, now they have to catch up with us. There is sadness to this story, regrets for what was and what never was. There is danger on several fronts. There is joy in finding that love survives, no matter what. This one is an emotional roller coaster. Often times I wanted to sit a character down for a stern talking to, I freely admit to that. But in the end they never listen to me and go on to make their unnecessary mistakes.

I liked Jack and Jillian. They are a believable couple faced with an unusual situation. It’s always fun to run into couples from earlier in the series and seeing Maddie and Trey again was a special touch. As were a few hints toward the next story in this series. I would recommend this story to any Romance reader who enjoys a believable couple facing issues the best they can, that special feeling of a second chance at something wonderful and loves the special feel of a small town and it’s sometimes crazy characters.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Loving the Texas Lawman is a fabulous addition to the Forever Texan series and a chance at love the second time around. And let’s face it, who doesn’t enjoy a rekindled romance with some angst and frustration thrown in for good measure.

Charlene Sands provides readers with great characters and an engaging storyline that ensures you’ll be hooked till the very end. I look forward to more from Ms Sands and her tough, sexy and passionate Texans.

Jack Walker is the town hero and when the one woman he can’t completely let go of turns back up she will turn his world upside down both literally and emotionally. Jillian Lane is trying to put distance between her and her past but when everything catches up with her she will need Jack more than ever but will Jack be able to put the past behind him and be the hero she needs. I am really loving this series and look forward to reading more

A fake marriage between two former lovers leads to more than they expected.

Lingerie designer, Jillian Lane is back in Hope Wells, Texas where she grew up and said she would never return too. She made a good living in California and had quite a few stores to show for it. But, when her boyfriend gets busted for selling drugs and her stores are rumored as being a front for his dealings, Jillian did the only thing she could to save her reputation. She went back home to the only person who could help her, her old boyfriend Sheriff Jack Walker.

Jack has his mind set on two things, being a great sheriff and trying to adopt Beau, a little boy he rescued after his parents died in a tragic accident. He couldn’t believe his eyes the day he found Jillian back in town. Why was she back? With no place to stay, Jack offers Jillian his guest house. He had no idea what kind of trouble followed Jillian, but when he finds out, being the good guy that he is, he offers his help. In exchange he asks Jillian to be his fake wife so he would have a better chance at adopting Beau. They soon find themselves unable to resist each other. But what happens when Beau is adopted? Will it all come to an end then?

This book was such a joy to read. It is the second in the “A Forever Texan Romance” series, but can be read as a stand-alone. I loved the characters and the story which just flowed off the pages. Beau really made a lasting impression in the scenes that he was in.

Charlene Sands has put together a sweet story of second chances. Jack and Jillian were once separated by outside forces yet were brought back together by unplanned circumstances.

Charlene Sands is great. Hot storyline, lost love and bad girl made good. What's not to like about this one?

I loved the second book in this series. Loved that Jillian was a strong and successful businesswoman and had pulled herself up by her bootstraps to get there. Jack is charming and has a fun side - which was great given how many lawman characters are written as only stern and brooding. Wish we had gotten more history on Jack and his fiancée and more on Jack and Jillian when they were younger but those are minor complaints. Can't wait to see what's next in Hope Wells.
