I really enjoyed Minerva and Marlowe's story. I was laughing out loud at all the crazy encounters the two had. Definitely a great way to end a series!

A great addition to the series - exactly what I needed.

I got this ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
In the beginning, I was skeptical because Fenton’s style is kind of different, unique. It’s much more sarcastic and funny, something you have to get used to.
The storyline is easy (kind of) and it’s funny what happens to the female lead over the storyline. You really feel with Minerva, especially when she climbs up the fountain – I had to put the book aside because I had to laugh so hard. Poor, poor young lady! (Or poor Poseidon?)
Though I was not a big fan of the second storyline with the abduction further on, it was fine. I simply could have done without it.
I enjoyed the “poetic” part of the book, it was witty and funny.

This was my first book from this author. I especially enjoyed the banter of Minerva and Marlowe, it made me smile and found them to.be very unique and entertaining. Will look for more by this author.

Always love Ms Fenton's books. Great storyline! Loved the hero who was not so perfect.

A weak 3 stars

This one really had the potential to be a favorite but somewhere along the way it lost it's focus. We have a wonderful hero, Marlowe, and his leading lady, Minerva. We have a LOT of background for Marlowe and he's a likable guy. Not so much for Minerva. Secondary characters and strange side stories are introduce and you start to wonder when we're going to get back to the actual relationship of Marlowe and Minerva. (Spoilerish)A great lack of communication is the main crux of this story and it's just stupid. Sorry, but I HATE when author's use this as the only conflict to move the story forward. I struggled to finish this one after the 60% mark. I felt bad because I could see the cute and charming points of this story but it just mucked up by the end.

This is very difficult for me to rate. Taking into consideration that the writing was excellent and very enjoyable, I have decided on a 3 star rating even though I didn't finish this book. Please note that my decision to abandon this book does not mean I hated it, the heroine just rubbed me the wrong way. I know I'm weird that way. If you don't mind drama, heroines who spend a good time spitting mad at the hero, and grand gestures, please, do give this book a try! It's only my personal pet peeves that stopped me from enjoying the second of this book. If it weren't for the heroine's actions in the second half, I would've given this all the stars in the world for this dear, adorable hero.

That being said, I absolutely LOVED the first half of this book. It was hilarious, enjoyable, and I loved the hero so much, his sad backstory brought tears to my eyes more than once. I adored his crazy antics so much, I just wanted to hug this man. He was precious!

But after 60% in my honest opinion the story lost focus a bit. Hero and heroine spent a lot of time apart during which a lot of other stuff happens that has little to do with their getting together. Add to that that I absolutely loathed the heroine, and I just didn't care anymore. I just didn't understand any of her actions.

I will definitely read more by this author, and please, do give this book a try if you're looking for a fun read!

'The Alabaster Hip' by Maggie Fenton is book Three in The Regency Romp Trilogy. This is the story of Miss Minerva Jones and Evelyn Leighton, Viscount Marlowe. I have read the other books in this series (and loved them!) but feel this is easily a standalone series.
Minerva has had a run of bad luck for a while. When the man she hopes to marries goes off to war but doesn't come back she settles into the mind set that she won't marry. Although his brother also lost his wife to be he talks to her about marrying him. But Minerva sticks to her mind set of not marrying. Now Minerva is working at a school as a teacher where there are these two little sisters who keep doing pranks and getting into trouble. Although some of them Minerva finds funny she knows to be strong around the girls. Their father who is Viscount Marlowe is also a character. Minerva had a run in with him at a ball where Marlowe and another man got into a fight which caused a women to faint on Minerva. So, along with some other questionable things with Marlowe has done, Minerva knows he is trouble. But one night after the girls pull another stunt she starts thinking about him and his past issues...he appears at her window. At first she doesn't recognize him and she starts to defend herself. Which starts a comic struggle between the two which in turns gets them caught by the schools staff. It appears that Marlowe was trying to sneak into the school to take back his daughters when he choose the wrong window. Now he has gotten Minerva fired from her teach position but later offers her a job in his house hold teach his girls. Minerva accepts due to no real choice...which open her up to more of his and his daughter's behavior.
Once Minerva felt board at the school but that about to change entering into his household.
This was another great book by Ms. Fenton. Ms. Fenton books offer some light and funny scenes with allot of love in those pages too. Hope to see more book soon by Ms. Fenton.

The Duke's Holiday, Book 1
Virtuous Scoundrel, Book 2

Maggie Fenton’s novel “The Alabaster Hip” follows the story of Viscount Marlowe and Minerva Jones. Their first meeting begins the romance which is peppered with so many hilarious events, that I often found myself chuckling. Viscount Marlowe meets Minerva at the boarding school, where his daughters have been schooled. They find themselves in a compromising situation, that comes about purely by accident. So begins the adventure mixed with romance and witty dialogue.
I really enjoyed this story and was pleasantly surprised to find that I now get to read the two earlier stories in the series.
I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I have been waiting in agony for Marlowe's story. If you haven't read the first two in this series, it's not necessary to enjoy this one but they are all so good, why not? The way Fenton managed to redeem as well as keep Marlowe's quirkiness was perfection. I've already reread it and will probably reread the series many times in the future. I'm very excited to see what Fenton has in the future.

I enjoyed this book because I always love a good Regency book. The relationship unfolding between the two of them was definitely satisfying. Pick it up if you're already hooked on the series.

Five stars for quirky, fun characters, but this book never quite connected with me. It broke too many Regency rules without making up for them with excitement, fast pacing, or rich detail. In places the story crawled along, and in others the anachronism was eye-rolling. The plot was okay, but I've seen the same story way too often. The dangerous points were played for laughs rather than tension, and I wish the Wounded Hero aspect had been played up better, perhaps used to create more than just fan-girl tension between the hero and heroine. The book was okay overall, but it would have been better with twenty percent or so removed.

Well at long last one of the most entertaining historical romance series has an ending. We waited almost 2 years and many of us thought it had been abandoned but it has finally seen the light of day and I loved it.

I was concerned that she may have made a character whose story would never be told because to be quite honest she had written him in the previous books as a wee bit distasteful character but she solved most of this within the first few chapters.

The rest of the book surprisingly does not follow the direction of swooning maidens and alpha males to the extreme. It is a well told story but the premise later in the book of why she was so upset with him was a bit weak (so the 4 Stars instead of 5) but it is fine entertainment and highly recommended. You get to laugh and you get some questions answered BUT the thing I wonder about is if we might get 1 more book since she seemed to be setting something up but the ages might make that impossible but this is Regency England and the age of marriage age young women was quite a bit less than today's acceptable morals. We shall see if she revisits these characters again.

4 Stars and very highly recommend the whole series.

Thanks Kindle Press and netgalley for this ARC.

Just the right balance and humor, love, and period detail- what more can you ask for in a historical romance?

BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY! A superb but eccentrically different read! Witty, humor, love, passion, romance, characters that are definitely unique! A book that is totally outside the normal historical romance line! It made it all the more captivating to me. I absolutely loved each character each word and each page of this book. I was enthralled, entertained, and just immersed in another world for the entire story. I must say I wish for more of this type of book. It was totally unique and worth every single second it took to read. I was only sorry to come to the end of such a book! So if you want a great read that is totally unique This is the book to buy and read. I consider this one to be a keeper! I was given this ARC in return for an honest review. Anna

I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review. The story of Minerva and Marlowe is a good read. Minerva becomes the governess to his twin daughters and falls in love with Marlowe. He comes to love her but has been hurt in the past and is not quick to commit. Events happen that make this book worth reading. There is s section that seems to be more filler than substance but dies nit distract from the story. This book needs an epilogue.

A fun and wittily engaging romance story, a nice weekend read!!

The Alabaster Hip is a very well-written, delightful and humorous historical fiction romance.
Minerva Jones has been sacked without references for the second time in her life. And this last time was not even her fault. She was fighting off an intruder, the Viscount Marlowe, to be exact; and while struggling to do so, she was caught in a compromising position. How was that, her fault? And, to add to her supposedly naughty behavior, Minerva’s nemesis squealed to her superior, about Minerva’s Christopher Essex poetry collection. Granted the man’s poetry was a bit unconventional; blood pumping, toe curling, and even swoon-worthy. But still, it was only poetry.

While Minerva Jones was standing in a muddy ditch, screaming the filthiest swears she could think of, the Viscount Marlowe offered her, a governess job. Minerva couldn’t believe the audacity of the crazy man. But when the Viscount kept upping the salary he was offering her, to triple what she would normally make, Minerva caved. She might despise the man for getting her sacked, but she wasn’t stupid. And besides, Minerva truly liked the Viscount’s twin girls, even if they were, little hellions.

Minerva had no idea how complicated her life was about to get. But living under the same roof as the Viscount was rattling her nerves and proving to be dangerous as well. Much to Minerva’s dismay, she was growing fond of the Viscount. Minerva needed to guard her heart; because falling for a man like him would only end badly for her.

This book is pure entertainment. It’s escapism at its finest. The characters are quirky, likable, and eccentric. I found the banter between Minerva and the Viscount to be laugh-out-loud funny and Minerva’s inner dialogue, hysterical. Maggie Fenton is a talented writer and a great storyteller. I enjoyed The Alabaster Hip so much so, that I purchased, the first two books in the series.

Thank you, Kindle Press and NetGalley for my advanced review copy. I loved it!

What an absolutely great story. There was intrigue, protests, kidnapping and last, but not least, love. Marlowe had twin daughters who were always into mischief and playing pranks on people. Family and friends got involved, trying to match make and trying to aid, when none was really needed. The banter among the group was so funny, I actually laughed out loud. My family thought I was crazy. I just could not put it down. Sometimes, you find an exceptionally good book that everything comes together perfectly and this is such a book. I was given this book for an honest review.

Miss Minerva Jones has lost her position again and to Viscount Marlowe's antics. His twins are forever in trouble and he has come to take them home. He falls into Minerva's room on top of her and now she is out of a job. He hires her to look after his girls. She is a great fan of Christopher Essex and Marlowe thinks her taste is too funny. She does not realize he is Essex. Nobody knows except his best friends. They begin to be interested in each other. Marlowe's sister shows up having run away before her father can marry her off to an old man nobody likes and it is thought he may have killed his previous wives. Many antics here and fast paced story to keep you wondering what is next.
