Tessa Sharpe has been unlucky in love and the workforce, especially after her latest love conquest with her boss ended up with her leaving her job as a reporter, as it was either that or be fired for a sexual harassment claim as it was her word against his. Her days are now spent blogging and reviewing items like the new electro-shock belt for running. Her most popular blog is a Political site where she rants about the royal family of Avonia especially Prince Arthur. Prince Arthur is heir to the throne and Tessa sees him as a playboy - sleeping around and drinking and well - having fun. With the referendum coming up of the possibility of dissolving the royal family and the votes not being in the royal families favor. Prince Arthur decides to open up the castle to his worst critic blogger Tessa Sharpe. Tessa reluctantly accepts and moves into the castle. During the time at the castle though Tessa starts to like Prince Arthur and see him in a different light. One of my favorite parts of this book was the relationship between Tessa's brothers and herself, and I loved how Arthur stood up for her. The other thing I loved was the laughs in The Royal Treatment by MJ Summers and as a blogger myself, I could relate to Tessa. Overall, can two natural enemies find their forever in each other’s arms, or will they ruin each other to save themselves? Find out in Book #1 of the Crown Jewels Romance series by MJ Summers - The Royal Treatment.

The Royal Treatment, A Crown Jewels Romance Book 1, MJ Summers

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre:  Romance, Women's fiction

I'd read some of MJ's Hearts series with mixed results, so I wasn't sure about this but...fame, the film, rock-star, royal trope has a hook in me and I decided to go for it. and I'm so glad, its a great fun read.
Its not deep dark drama but modern day chick-lit but with a serious side. There's some terrific humour tucked in too, which had me sniggering loudly. Lucky it's just me n the dog here.....

Tessa is a lovely girl but as the only girl with four brothers, all in very important positions job wise she struggles. She tried hard, loved her journalism, but fell for the wrong guy, her ex boss and now she's found he's managed to ensure all doors in that field are closed to her.
B astard!! It happens though, out in the real world, and Tessa is trying to move on, and has discovered the world of blogging.
Its hard work to get enough income to live from it though, so after some research and a bit of trial and error she found posts about the royal family, especially contentious ones, were really popular. So she becomes scathing in her criticism, the blog stats soar, and at a time of massive unpopularity for the Monarchy she's well known as the most fierce critic.

Prince Arthur knows how deep the crisis runs, thanks to his father, a cold man, cares little for anything or anybody, who embodies the lack of principles their fiercest critics use against them. He knows things have to change, that they need to change their image very quickly and asks Tessa to stay for two months, arrogantly convinced he can easily wrap her round his finger, convince her of the good the Royals do and change public perception.
I love the way things played out, the way he saw himself through her eyes, the way she saw her blog from the moral point of her young niece ( why is it OK to write bad things about people when adults tell kids to be polite? Good Point!)
The heat between the two, the conversations that take an increasingly personal slant, the lust that's turning to more, all makes great reading.
Then there's how Tessa discovers actually lots of what she criticises isn't necessarily the whole story, just media perceptions and assumptions. Likewise Arthur sees that the image the royals put out needs adapting to modern times, that the duty he and his family feel, the job he was born and raised for is in real peril. 800 years of looking after the country could be lost if they don't deal with it right now.

We didn't see much of his sister but his grandmother - what a great lady. I want to be like her!

Growing up in a socialist household with a dad who was fiercely anti monarchy, much of Tessa's arguments are very familiar.
They're sentiments often trotted out by the media, how the Royals cost £xxx millions etc without actually showing the other side, how much is actually their own money, how they provide jobs, increase tourism, bring in staggering amounts of cash to the country, how they work very hard even if it looks like lunches and balls all the while.
Underneath the surface there's a lot going on that they have no control over, they can't have  bad day, take a sickie and binge watch serials on TV.
For them the Show Must Go On. I wouldn't swap places with them.

Its a great fun read, light but with some serious points, and some cracking humour. The Shock Jogger. I'll say no more (snigger...) and on the serious side for instance there's Tessa's blog, is it really fair to pronounce such scathing comments on personalities, is it OK just because they're in the public eye or is it wrong, especially when the arguments are based on public supposition, not necessarily facts.
Then there the issue of looking at both sides to the royal arguments, and wondering quite where I stand. With dad as a kid as most kids are, but very much changed views now I'm an adult and can look beyond shock stats. Then of course there's the humour that provided some great moments, and a lighter side each time the story got a little intense. .
There are follow up stories but this one is complete in its own right.

Stars: five,a fabulous read, light and easy, with some solid points to mull over.

Prince Arthur is hilarious, I mean down right hilarious. He does have a soft side which I always find so endearing. This is told in dual POV, so you get to see the inner workings of his brain as well as Tessa, our female lead. MJ Summers does an amazing job sprinkling pop culture references throughout both of their points of view, and that provides a real connection for readers. (There's one from Silence of the Lambs that just about made me pee my pants in laughter. After twins, that happens more often than I'd like to admit.) The country is deciding whether or not to keep the monarchy and Prince Arthur has a crazy idea to invite his worst critic to the palace to live for two months so he can convince them that the monarchy is worth saving. Enter Tessa, who is awkwardly fabulous and reminds me so much of myself, that it was almost like being able to live out my princess fantasy. She's a blogger who is the only girl in a family full of high achieving men. She proves them all wrong though with her wildly successful blog that openly criticizes the royal family. There wasn't one moment where I skimmed through or felt bored. I was so sucked in numerous times to this story. That's one of best thing about the writing - it absorbs you in and you can't help but root for this couple. This is not a heavy read by any means, but it's absolutely a perfect romantic comedy. This is a one-click for me, and I am anxiously awaiting the second book. The second book will apparently continue to follow Prince Arthur and Tessa, however this doesn't end in a cliffhanger.

Royalty for the win.

4 stars for this book.

This was a fun, light story that had me laughing out loud at several parts. I loved Arthur, who started off as kind of a jerk but quickly wormed his way into the heroine's heart (and mine!!) I'm not usually big on books with royalty, but after reading The Royal We I decided to expand my horizons and give this a shot. I wasn't disappointed.

If you enjoy well-written, light hearted fun that will have you giggling out loud, grab this book for sure.

This book was so good! I didn't want to stop reading it! I'm a sucker for modern day royal romance stories and I'm so happy this book delivered! I think the romance could have dragged on a bit more but aside from that a fantastic read! I'm for sure going to have to look into. Ore works from this author!

Genuinely funny and sweet, with huge laugh out loud moments and seriously cringe worthy situations. With great characters.

This book moves super fast and is a lovely read that you won't want to put down. I didn't.

Tessa is a blogger and one of her blogs is against the current monarchy, because it's a monarchy. She feels you should be able to elect your leaders. Because she is the number one royal hater, or at least the most vocal, that has earned her an invitation for the Crown Prince himself, Arthur. She is the single person out of her family that feels this way.

She is invited to stay two months in the palace to oversee what goes on in hopes of changing her mind. Arthur has a plan and he hopes he can turn her into their number one fan.

Tessa is walking a fine line with her blogs and making enough money to stay independent. Her Royal Watcher blog is her number one money maker and she just knows she will find all kinds of ways that the country could be saved money by being there and is very critical of the current system. She tries very hard to do it in a respectful manner which isn't always possible.

It becomes very clear that neither Arthur nor Tessa is what they seem and the sparks fly.

You'll love this book. It's a feel good romantic comedy that will make you laugh until you cry.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book is funny, cute, and extremely well written. Can't say if I've ever enjoyed the inner workings of the leads so much as this one.

I look forward to the next one. 😉

My first book by M.J. Summers it was great

What do you do when your thrown is in jeopardy? You get your worse critic ever to come live with you of course.
Tessa, a blogger who hates the royal family does just that. By invite of Prince Arthur she lives with the royal family for 2 moths. Or that was the deal anyway. The catch? Tessa was writing about their daily lives, Arthur was trying to change her mind in his favor! Did it work?
We saw Arthur's daily life by every minute. It seemed boring. Tessa on the other hand was a joy! She was funny, quirky, and down to earth. Her family didn't appreciate her much though.
When things got down to the final straw, the prime minister was a dirty ol' man! Tessa revealed some things to Arthur and their love for one another took a dive. They knew they were in love with each other, just hadn't admitted it yet. Shows that when things get ugly, people really do run away, and get lonely!
Tessa being the quirky girl she is, saves the day, the year actually! She might mess up at times, it might come out as funny! However she's serious.
I had a few good laughs, a few what the! to. Overall it was a good read.
