This is the second book I have read this year that has been set in ancient times, and I loved it. I think I have found a new genre to pursue.

I love historical faction, particularly espionage set during the two World Wars, and really this book has all the same attributes. It is just set in a different time. There is betrayal, assassination attempts and conspiracies, not to mention a little romantic interest.

I was glad to see at the end 'to be continued '.......I hope that means soon.

Thank you to Sunbury Press Inc. via Netgalley for providing a digital copy of The Broken Lance by Jess Steven Hughes for review. All opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Novel was an enjoyable read well suited for those who enjoy stories of ancient Rome. Plot moves along at a fast pace and characters are reasonably well defined.

I tried. I looked up the author. I looked at reviews of his other works. All that to say, I’m sorry I requested this from NetGalley. I quit just into the second chapter. The langue was too foul for me to read any further. I was very disappointed. It sounded really interesting.
I received this as a free ARC from NetGalley.
