Title: Shifter In Paradise
Series: n/a
Author:  Susan Kearney
Genre:  Romance, Paranormal
Blurb:  Ari Dillon is not your ordinary hero. He’s willing to lie, deceive, and hijack a private jet—all in the name of his cause. So if abducting billionaire Samantha Bessinger is the only way Ari can get her alone, he’ll do it.

Real estate mogul Samantha has never met anyone like Ari. He’s charming, ruthless, and almost irresistible. Yet when he crash-lands her jet onto a deserted Caribbean island and reveals his shapeshifting secrets, she can’t deny he’s one of a kind.

But just because he shows her things she never knew were possible, doesn’t prove they are soul mates as he claims. While Samantha didn’t become a success by being a pushover, is she enough of a match for the devil in paradise?
Favorite quotes: “If you’re hoping I’m thirsty enough to lick you, you’re wasting your time.”
Thoughts: This book was not at all what I was expecting. From the blurb it seems like one of those books that is right up my alley, but it didn’t turn out that way. I had heard this authors name before and have noticed several times that her books were ‘recommended’ based on what I generally read, but this was the first book by her that I have picked up. It started out pretty good, however I faltered a little bit when Ari is the pilot – but not the pilot….but looks like the pilot. Uhm, I was a little confused to be sure….I went back and read it again, gave a shrug of my shoulders, and trudged on hoping desperately that the author would wind up having this actually make sense. And, yes, it is explained….but I did not buy it at all. Readers get thrown a loop with a bunch of weird shape shifting things thrown in (really? An ice cube?) and a muddled explanation of how the process works and hints that people can get stuck in various forms, blah, blah, blah. Not to mention this ‘race’ of people who can shift in the first place, with no real reason given as to why. The explanations did not pass muster with me, and many other things were muddled and just left more questions. I’m not crossing the author off completely, but this one would be a big ‘no’ for me.

I voluntarily read an advanced review copy of this book

This book was very interesting because it made me put aside my normal ideas of what I thought a shifter romance was and kind of stepped outside of the normal shifter romance box and popped into a fictional world where anyhting can happen.

Overall not a bad book but not my favorite book by Susan Kearney

This was a very short paranormal romance about a different type of shapeshifter and his fated mate.

Ari is a shapeshifter who, after dreaming of his fated mate, shifts himself into the form of her personal pilot and essentially kidnaps her. They end up landing on his secluded island where he is somehow supposed to both convince her to trust him and convince her that she can make herself change forms.

Samantha, rightly so, is not exactly on board with the kidnapping plan. She’s a powerful, independent woman, who does not enjoy being played with. Luckily for them both, nature makes them irresistible to one another, helping her overcome her hesitation in short order. What initially feels impossible is suddenly part of her hopes and dreams. These two are definitely an unlikely pair, and would probably have continued to be without the help of this fated mate “push.”

Super short, sexy, a different take on shifter romance. Managed to fit a lot of story in a small number of pages, but could have been fleshed out more. Seemed like the intro to a bigger world.

Samantha is a business woman who is a big name in real estate and hasn’t had time for a relationship. Ari is a shifter who took the form of Samantha’s pilot to get close to her. Samantha is a hard person to get alone. Ari’s soul mate is Samantha and Ari wants to claim her. Ari even learned how to fly a plane to get her alone. Ari kidnapped Samantha to have time to win her heart. Samantha is feeling attracted to her pilot and had never felt that way before. Samantha didn’t know it was Ari. Samantha was on her way to a meeting. Ari hadn’t even been able to approach Samantha as she had heavy security.
I didn’t really care for this story. It was a novella maybe if it had been longer I would have enjoyed it more. I felt this lacked a lot and was disappointing in the end. I did like the new kind of shifter that was included in this story. So I wish there was a lot more to this story.

I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Samantha has made a big name in real estate and she has worked hard for it. The only thing she doesn't have in her life is love.

Ari has been dreaming of his soul mate and now it is time to go get her. It is Samantha and the only problem he has had was finding a way to see her, to spend time with her and get to know one another.

Ari can shape shift, morph into other forms. He has taken the shape of her pilot as she is getting ready to fly out for a meeting. She notices her pilot is acting differently, more informal...flirty even. She is feeling an attraction to him, which she has never noticed before.

Ari has decided it is time to tell her the truth....

Will she believe him? Will she give up all her success to be with him? Is Ari her soul mate?

This is a novella, a pretty quick read. I have read several books by this author and enjoyed them but I was a bit disappointed with this story. The writing is good but the story is lacking to me. Samantha is pretty accepting once Ari starts showing her his shape shifting abilities and I think I would have been more frightened or freaked out.

As I said, the writing is good and I really liked when they were "melding together". It was written really well and I could actually picture it.

Ms. Kearney had written another thrilling sci-romance. Good solid plot with solid writing.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Though I believe I read it previously, possibly in a different format? Didn't matter liked the characters and the plot.

'Shifter in Paradise' by Susan Kearney is the story of Ari Dillon and Samantha Bessinger.
Samantha is a business women who has not time for relationships.
Ari is a shifter who took on the form of Samantha's pilot to get close to her. Samantha is a hard person to get alone. Ari family we learn have a history of looking for their sole mate until they find them. Samantha is Ari sole mate and he is stopping at nothing to claim her....even learning how to fly a plane to take her.
So Glad to find this author...I will be looking for more of her books.

I had to DNF this one at about 30%. As soon as the female MC allowed her attraction to override her common sense I was done. I just lost interest with this one REALLY fast after that.

This is a voluntary review of an advance copy.

This was a quick read and events moved along pretty quickly. Ari kidnaps Samantha because he has dreamed that she is his mate and was not able to approach her easily due to her heavy security (she is rich). Kidnapping romances are really hard to get a good feeling about a romance instead of getting a stalker type vibe, and this story was ok with that aspect. I think if the story was a bit longer, it would have helped the progression of the romance and "felt" more natural. Once I got past the kidnapper vibe, I started to like Ari and kind of felt bad for him when Samantha was so not making it easy for him!! Gotta love a strong independent woman!

While I did enjoy the story, I wish there was a little more romance, a bit less on the shifter training, and I would have loved a longer ending. It happened so quickly, and then it was over. I guess I was hoping to see what she thought of Atlantis and got to meet the parents!

If I had not received an advanced copy, I probably would have borrowed the book through KU, but at 75 pages, I would not have purchased the book.

Story itself was original but the story was so short there was no character development I thought the author could have done so much more with the story.

Fairly disappointed - the Precis for this book was interesting , just the sort of book I enjoy (Paranormal Romance/Shifters)
Ari is an Atlantean with unusual abilities .....whilst Atlantis is still kept hidden ,they need the 'new blood' of 'soul mates' to ensure the 'force field ' is maintained .
Samantha is a billionaire property mogul who has always put business before a personal life .
On the way to a another city to sign a new contract ,using her private plane, she finds her pilot is not who she thought he was .......Ari had used his ability to change into anything he chooses .
He crashes deliberately on an Island in Bermuda Triangle .......he thinks he can convince of their compatibility
and to return with him to Atlantis ..........Giving up all she has known .

This was a disappointing book ......whilst I like to read this genre and uses my imagination - I found the speed
Samantha succumbed to his story and blandishments unbelievable .
Her willingness to decide such a momentous matter in less than 48hours.... taking into account his and now her ability to shift and having spent only a few hours in Atlantis ..........without meeting other Atlantean........ seem counter to her precise business mind .
I know some characters in this genre fall in love/lust quickly , it does usually involve a more enhanced storyline

This was definitely different than all the other shifter books I have read before. Shifting not just into others, but dolphins, rocks, diamonds I mean it was interesting. The story itself was to short and could have had a lot more to it. However if you are looking for a good quick read, this is the one to get.
