This was a fun romance read and a classic student/teacher romance.

I enjoyed book, Rick and Becca were hot together. Loved the relationship between Tessa and Becca, how they were such good friends and even when mad at each other they had each others back. Now Hannah, was just plain crazy, I felt for Rick, because she was his last living relative, he just lost his bestfriend, and she was so judgemental, however I was proud of him for putting his foot down, and demanding respect. I kind of wished that we had a longer epilogue, to know how Becca and Hannah eventually dealt with each other, and how her parents felt, Did enjoy that Lauren, the stupid sorority chick, got to see that she was not the preferred one.

Becca Black attends an all girl university where she is known for making poor choices in the guys she dates. She has decided that she wants to only date older guys as they seem to have their act together. As she daydreams constantly about her new lit professor Rick Carter, who happens to be fantasying about her too. After answering an ad for a maid service, guess who is assigned as her first client, Rick. Can they create a relationship together or will he be mistake #7?

Mistake No.7 was really great. I love a good "forbidden" romance, and the chemistry between the characters was amazing. You could feel the tension between them. It was very well written, all characters were fun, and came across very real when reading. I highly recommend.

A short story about a professor/student romance.
Rebecca is a student struggling to pay her rent. She fins a job as a maid, and her client turns out to be her professor. Rick is her professor and boss, and to be honest a little creepy.

Their relationship was odd. He wanted her, he is 10 years older, and yet, was pervy.
The whole book seemed more high school then adult. Jealous girls who call other names, telling secrets to best friends who fight about it, and then the ending seemed rushed.

This was a quick steamy teacher/student romance that took me one night to read. The sex was steamy and I liked Rebecca and Rick, but there wasn't much substance and the ending felt a little rushed. Overall, the storyline was good with very little angst.

One thing though, I know this was an ARC, but I have never read ARC with this many editing issues. It really needs some cleaning up. I almost didn't finish it for that sole reason.

Wow, this was the first novel I have read by Laura Avery. I really liked it. I loved Becca the heroine. Although she was only 21 I loved her sass and sense of humor. Rick was her professor. I loved the chemistry between the two of them. I loved the dialogue and the banter. The story drew me in and I had to keep reading to see what would happen next. Although this is a new author to me I will definitely be looking to she what she writes next..

Mistake No. 7 is that tried and true taboo forbidden relationship between a professor and his younger student. Becca is a 21 year old student set to graduate in a few months. She is in lust with her English Lit professor, Rick. But, he's not only older than she is, he's her professor, so her daydreams about him will have to stay just that - daydreams. That is until she is hired on as a maid for the agency Rick has just hired to clean the house he's living in and having renovated. When Becca shows up at his home and she's in a skimpy maid's costume, complete with short skirt and heels, the attraction Rick's been feeling for her suddenly explodes.

I really wanted to like Mistake No. 7 because I'm a sucker for professor/student romances. (If you want a well written, really steamy, well fleshed out professor/student story, read my favorite - the Hunted series by Ivy Smoak). But, I just could not get into Mistake No. 7. While I like sort of like both Rick and Becca, the execution of their story left a lot to be desired. There are serious formatting problems in my copy, but because it's an Advanced Reader Copy, I'm trusting that the formatting was fixed before it went to publication. If not, then I feel really badly for any readers, because my copy was formatted horribly (there were words smashed together without spaces, whole words missing, etc.). Then there's the wording, it was pretty cheesy in a lot of ways, especially in some of the sex scenes. I like my sex scenes to be steamy and pure escapist fodder, cheesy language takes away from sex scenes and takes the reader out of the story. And there was a giant disconnect for me. I just couldn't make myself care about the characters or what was happening to them, aside from a general liking of them. I didn't love them, I didn't hate them, they were just kind of there. There isn't a whole lot to this story. Not a lot of strong emotions, not a lot of passion, not a lot of much of anything, and that was the main problem I have with Mistake No. 7. It isn't fleshed out enough, the characters aren't much beyond one dimensional, so I just didn't get into their story.

Rebecca has a crush on her professor. Rick is attracted to his student Rebecca. Relationship between teachers and students are forbidden. To complicate things further is is also her employer. Employee can't date their employers. They tried to fight the attraction but they give into a secret relationship that once discovered could jeopardize Rick's career. Lots of chemistry. Enjoyed reading the challenges they go through and how they overcome them to pursue a future together.
Recommend read

Rebecca/Becca wondered if Professor Crane was an authoritative in bed. Becca wanted to know if his expression changed when he made love. Becca had a good social life and a lot of friends and Becca dated on a regular basis. Becca’s best friend was Tess and told her it wasn’t the romance books Rebecca read that made her pick the wrong men to date or care for. Professor Crane- Rick was very interested in Rebecca but there was an no dating students policy in the all girl college Rick taught at. Rick felt Rebecca outshone all the other female students just by being herself. Rick’s parents had died two years ago and he and his sister Hannah had inherited wealth and now his parents lawyer now theirs was Hannah’s and Rick’s rock. Rick was refurbishing the home his parents shared. But they also had rental property to deal with. Rick loved his sister but she was overprotective, overbearing, and a pain in the butt especially if Rick ever brought someone to meet her. Jess had set Becca up on a blind date with Ben who just wasn’t what Becca was looking for. Rick called a maid service and it was the job Becca had just been hired for. Becca became Rick’s maid.
A good read . This was a short story but very entertaining. It didn’t lack anything. I did think the relationship was a bit rushed. And the story is predictable but i still enjoyed and really liked this. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this story and I recommend.

I could not relate or connect with the 2 main characters. I always finish a book on once started but I didn't finish this one

This was a fun short read. The whole book felt a little rushed. Esp the ending. I would have liked a little more detail so it wasn't a generic professor/student romance.
But I did enjoy this read and will keep my eye out for her next novel to be released.

This was short quick read. It was an ok read just not long enough. Everything just moved a little too fast. We never really get to know the characters. I am not sure if I liked Rick. He seemed kind of shady in the beginning. He didn't really step up until the end.

Pros: Great idea for a story. It actually reminded me a little at the beginning of Wrong, by Jana Aston, which is a favourite of mine. I always love an older male/younger female storyline.
It's a quick read, especially when you skim some of the parts that really don't matter.
The sex was pretty hot but see below for why that is also a con.

Cons: This time the trope unfortunately just didn't work for me.
Rick came across as a bit of a pervert at the beginning of the book, calling Rebecca "pretty girl."
The dialogue for much of the book was very juvenile and sometimes old fashioned, especially during the sexy parts. It actually made me uncomfortable.
Characters weren't fleshed out enough, probably because the book was pretty short. Rick especially seemed to flip flop from one extreme to the other, and it never quite gelled.

If you're looking for a lighthearted, quick read without much substance, give this book a try. Be prepared to skim.

a quick good read

I know I should feel terrible, & to some extend I do.. this was someone's baby in a sense & I'm basically going to come along & call it ugly!.. I'd never read anything by this author beforehand - that I'm aware of (I read a lot!!) anyway, I saw the cover & decided to check out the blurb. I was super excited & 1 clicked straight away. As soon as I downloaded it I started reading &.. I kinda wish I hadn't. Even if it wasn't for the seriously, epically bad grammar & punctuation, I still would've been sad. It was too fast paced for me. From the first page it jumps straight in. There was no teasing, nothing. I am really disappointed & I'm incredibly sorry to write this. 2/5*
