A nicely written book that offers a different view on how to find inspiration and be religions or use religion in todays society.
It is heavily religious though so if that is something that bothers you, its not a book for you.
If you enjoy a few into religion even if you are not, this is a good book to try!

I enjoyed this.
I don't believe in god, Im not religious at all. it's not something I was raised with or anything like that but I love reading books by people who do follow religion because it just gives a whole other perspective on the world and life and important issues which I enjoy reading about.
This was super interesting for me and I enjoyed the way the author worded things and the advice that he gave.

This is such a powerful book that is very relevant in today's society. It does have a very heavy Christian influence (there's passages from the Bible), and since I'm not religious, this was slightly off putting, but it was still nice to read and learn about how the Bible inspired Guvna B.

A very insightful deep portrait of the mindset of today

This book was different from the genres I usually read as it was non-fiction and had a very heavy Christian influence.
I flew through the pages and found an inspiring message within the pages outside the included passages from the bible.

It is very well thought out and well written for a first book, with uplifting messages and insight into life in East London. I can't think of anything else to say about this book, aside from some very striking phrases that would be great motivations and affirmations for young people.

This is such an inspirational book. It was quick and easy to read. Not the type of book I would normally read, but I'm glad I did.

You know what? I’m not one to toot my own trumpet but one the things about me that I really like is that I bang to the beat of my own drum and I do it with gay abandon. That is what I really like about Guvna B.

In his memoir, Unpopular Culture, Guvna B extols his beliefs and celebrates how they have got him to be the successful person that he is today. He knows that his faith is at odds with how people who perform his genre of music tend to be perceived yet he sticks to his guns and he is himself. No questions asked.

Unpopular Culture is almost a guide on how to make the right decisions in life. Guvna B talks straight. He doesn’t patronise the reader and he uses real life examples which makes him seem more human, more tangible. He knows that he isn’t perfect but knows that he doesn’t have to be. He just has to keep trying.

I’m not going to lie and pretend I knew who Guvna B was before I read this book. Grime isn’t my genre of music but I am really glad that I read Unpopular Culture and had the chance to learn about this extraordinary person and his unwavering faith.

Easy read with a good message, would recommend! Love the references to the Bible in the book and the personal experiences as well.

I've read it in 2 days but its one of these books you can read in one sitting.

MY THOUGHTS:

It reads very quickly. It's a book with autobiographical parts written by a Gospel rapper - Guvna B. He challanges the popular culture and the way people behave and think. He tries in his book to make people re-think everything.

'In a culture that is so quick to define people by labels and place people in boxes, how do we know what our true identity is?

Guvna reminds us that labels others place on us don't gave to hold us captive. He mentiones what is to be truly happy and talks about seven dimensions of wellness.

He challanges people that spend money on things they can't afford to impress others and meet the need of instant satiafaction.

I love the message of the book and I believe for many it might be a turning point or a little push they need to turn their life around for better. I read a lot of motivational and personal development books so the message didn't have that big impact on me as I hoped it will.

Guvna is strong believing Christian. He cites Bible verses and talks about Jesus. He does it in an open way not pushing his faith on anyone. I didn't expect any religious aspects and I am not sure if that wasn't small downfall for me. Overall I expected a bit more than general message of: look depper, do good and treat others the way you would like to be treated.

He cites the words of Erwin McManus that for me sum up the message of Guvna:
