In this pulse-pounding novel from the bestselling author of Butterfly Dreams, a vigilante hacker plays a seductive game with the agent who’s chasing her online—and sharing her bed in real life.

At first glance, I’m nothing out of the ordinary. I am a daughter. A sister. A friend. When you look at me you won’t see anything that warrants suspicion. I don’t look like a criminal.

My name is Hannah Whalen, but most people know me as freed0mov3rdr1v3, or “Freedom Overdrive”—one of the world’s most prolific and notorious hacktivists. My goal—my purpose—is to shed light on the evil that lurks behind the corporate and government lies we have been force-fed for too long.

My story begins with the best possible intention. Devoting my life to exposing the corrupt. The dishonest. The unethical. For that, they label me a cyber-terrorist. Wanted by the FBI, I’ve always been one step ahead.

Until I fell in love.

Because I’m sleeping with the man who’s hunting me. And he has no idea that I am his prey. Now I have to decide what’s more important: my freedom or my heart.

Review:

So I am going to start with this, the story ends on a cliffhanger. I say this right off because I had no clue and I know some really don't like to read stories without being able to immediately read the next part.

I liked that the story was centered around hacking and vigilantism. It is very intriguing and I keep guessing about who is Hannah's secret partner and what is going to happen next. The intrigue and suspense were what kept me reading.

What bothered my was Hannah, I understand why she is doing what she is doing and why she is keeping it a secret. The lies and using of Mason really turned me off. I think they could be great together, but basing a relationship on lies is going to fail be hard to come back from.

I thought the Author wrote a good story and I will definitely read the next part when it comes out. I just hope my feelings for Hannah change.

What a roller coaster ride. Mason and Hanna's relationship is based on one big lie. Hanna didn't expect to fall hard for Mason, but she did. But the lies she is keeping from him may never be forgiven. Mason also fell hard for Hanna, but his instincts keep him second guessing everything about the budding relationship. This is such a different story from the usual millionaires, best friends, second chances. I was captivated the whole time. Computer hacking, FBI agents, and two lonely people, who could ask for more? This does end on a cliffhanger. And man oh man I can not wait for this second book.

Hannah Whalen wants justice and her way of doing it is to take down all the people wronged her and her family.
Mason Kohler is the FBI agent who is out to stop Freedom Overdrive.
Cliffhanger !!!!

I wanted so much from this book and it kind of fell short for me. While the story is intriguing the characters are frustrating and 1 dimensional. I found myself rolling my eyes everytime Hannah would explain her choices and Mason just seemed flat. There were a few holes that left me confused and kind of turned me off. So the story premise is good it just didn't follow through on the promise.

this book had a great concept but poor execution. the characters were so ridiculous that i didn't even care if they fell in love. the "heroine" is so self absorbed and i never felt like she actually liked the hero, she just saw him as her target the whole time. but the most frustrating thing was how a freakin FBI agent got the wool pulled over his eyes. she was by no means some professional seductress and she basically fed him breadcrumbs but he was such a dolt about everything. i don't care enough about these people to even both reading the next book

I really liked this interesting and entertaining read. Hannah is out for revenge on the corporate and government corruption that hurt her family. Mason is an FBI agent out to find the hacker named Freedom Overdrive/Hannah. What will happen when the two begin to fall in love? I admit it was a bit slow in the beginning, however I did like the characters and the story. Looking forward to reading more of Hannah and Mason’s story.

I liked this mostly because the hacker is female! Thanks to Walters for creating Hannah. I like that Hannah is trying to do a Robin Hood thing but more importantly, Walters has shown how we can all get caught up in our own egos until we're in deep trouble. I know this is a romance and it was a good one with legit tension- given that Mason is actually hunting her. Nicely done. Thanks to net galley for the ARC. This was a quick and entertaining read.

This is the first book I have read from A. Meredith Walters and after seeing the blurb I was completely intrigued. This is a great cat and mouse story with secrets and lies, you are on the edge of your seat waiting to see what is going to happen next. The writing is so brilliant that it draws you in and fuels the intensity and suspense.

Hannah is an infamous computer hacker and is trying to navigate a relationship with FBI Agent Mason Kohler, of course he would be the agent assigned to track down her hacker alter ego. I adored Mason, he was sexy, strong, alpha male, totally swoon-worthy. Hannah I did struggle to like as I found her quite manipulative and slightly arrogant at the beginning but she did grow on me as the story went on.

I can't wait for the next book in the series for the conclusion of their story ESPECIALLY after that cliffhanger!!

I've been on a suspense trip lately, so was excited to see this one. I've read books by this author in the past, and loved them. So not really sure what it was with Exploited. Kept my interest for a bit, but then I just became kind of bored. It very well may be a me not you type of thing, especially since I just came off an intense read.

When book two releases I may pick this up again and give it another go. No guarantees though.

What an intense game of Cat and Mouse!

Hannah wanted revenge against the people who tore her family apart. Instead of using a gun for revenge, she used what she knew best! Her Keyboard!! When she met Mason Kohler and they started dating, I thought Hannah was CRAZY!! As I read further, I saw that the game was just beginning!

I really enjoyed the mystery and drama inside this story. Not knowing much about hacking I found this story fascinating!

3.5*

I was really intrigued by the premise of this book, it looked like it would be an interesting change of pace from the contemporary romance books I read. I've only read one other book by A. Meredith Walters, one that I absolutely adored, so I was excited when I was offered the opportunity to read and review this one. Exploited is suspenseful and mysterious, it's frustrating, and in the end it will leave you questioning everything you thought you might have figured out.

I was hoping for a fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat, exciting cat-and-mouse type story. But instead, this was a much slower read than I expected. Hannah was a tough nut to crack. She wasn't very likeable, honestly. I never quite warmed up to her, and I think that kind of tainted my whole outlook on this book unfortunately. I'm hoping in the second book we'll see a different side of her.
I really liked Mason't character, but felt zero chemistry between him and Hannah. I felt sorry for him, that he was so easily manipulated by her because he really just needed someone to love, and to be loved. I cried for him over his brother, and was mad on his behalf because of his parents.
But for someone who is supposed to be such a killer agent he sure didn't prove it when it came to Hannah. I'm not sure what else needed to happen before he realized what was going on right under his nose.

Although this book didn't quite live up to expectations I am invested enough that I am anxious for the second book. There's a lot more to explore with these characters, and of course the mystery that was left hanging. Hopefully all our questions will be answered!

This book was a bit of a miss for me. While I felt the writing was solid, the book itself just never really come together for me. Also, The book's pace often seemed stunted by repetition and the never ending inner dialog of both characters.

The characters themselves made me squirm often with their actions and things that they said. I was never able to get past Hannah's constant lies and while I liked Mason, I never really felt like I understood his character or his motivations in the book.

Worst of all, the secondary characters were not likable, especially the parents of both characters and the workmates of both characters.

I also didn't realize that it was a cliffhanger (which is my own fault for not reading the description carefully.) I don't think I will read the next book in the series, but I will try out some of Walter's other works as I liked her writing style overall.

A very smart story, and great to see a female lead having so many secrets and identities. Typically i find it is men who have the "dual" identities and try to do the right thing. But this time our female lead, is smart and savvy, i mean getting close to the man in the FBI who is after you - risky move. However it plays out well in this story - secrets and lies and danger lurk everywhere. Really excited to see what happens next in this story. Final point erm the FBI guy after our female lead is hot sounding :)

Hannah becomes a female computer hacker because of a devastating event in her life. When she meets FBI agent Mason we quickly realizes she is using him to find out what the FBI has on her.
This story has major potential. It fell flat because it jumped around between the two characters to much for me. It also is a cliffhanger which I didn't know about. Mason works in cyber-crime and seems to be oblivious to all the signs he is dating the hacker he is searching for. Also I like my hero's to be a lot more alpha and he was more beta. All the supporting characters in this story came across as jerks. The suspense kept me reading tho. Someone is out to expose her!

I really enjoyed this game of cat and mouse between Mason and Hannah. They have great chemistry and I like the pace that their relationship grew at. It would be easy to get mad at Hannah but I really sympathized for her. Finally finding a person that understands you and that you connect to, only to have to ultimately hurt them in the end would be awful to go through. I thought that aspect of the book made it different from anything I've read lately. I'm also really intrigued by who Toxicwrath could be. Walters has set it up to be a few people so I'm really looking forward to reading Aftermath to find out the conclusion to this story!

This book had a good plot that was interesting and the characters, Mason & Hannah were very likeable and kept my attention until the very last page!

I just finished and am sitting here trying to put words to a review. Some books are very hard to review without giving too much away and this is certainly one of them. WOW just WOW. This is truly one of those books you need to read for yourself. Go and click and see for yourself.

I was quickly drawn in by Hannah, everything feels so real as you read on. Hannah's grief and her desire to make someone pay for the losses of loved ones. Seeking out Mason as an end to a means. Never expecting to enjoy her time with him as she does.

Mason can relate so well to the grief Hannah has. Loosing his brother has changed him over the last year. When she mysteriously pops into his world, he is surprised at how good her feel when with her. He has good instincts, has to as an FBI agent but she makes him push those instincts aside. Will he regret it in the end.

Part of the story scares me as it is a reality of today with the electronic age that we living in. A few key strokes by the wrong person and many lives are changed.

Can't wait to see what happens next!!

This story had so much potential and I'll admit, when I read the preface, I was all kinds of excited about it. That small introduction pulled me in and I was ready to be wowed. It is very well written and Walters has a great writing style. Unfortunately, it didn't take long for the story to fizzle after the preface.
The book is rather lengthy, which isn't a problem for me as long as the story keeps a good pace and holds my interest. While the book does have a steady pace for the most part, it's almost agonizingly slow and even a bit repetitive at times, to the point that I found my interest waning.
The story is suspenseful and Hannah's crimes were intriguing, but it would've benefited from a faster pace. I did expect more of a romantic element, but honestly, I didn't feel the romance with this one. Hannah comes across as cold and calculating through much of the story and while we're told on the page that she's falling for Mason, I didn't feel that.
Mason could've been a truly great character, but he has to be the most gullible agent in the history of fictional FBI agents. Not only does he accept Hannah's excuses for her lies, but he justifies them in his head. There were so many red flags waved in his face that it became eye-rollingly frustrating.
The cliffy at the end was a big one, but between Hannah's coldness and Mason's gullibility, I wasn't left with enough curiosity to read to the conclusion to this tale.
The author is talented and I would read other books by her, but this one just wasn't for me.
