This is a hot, tempting NA novel. It was sweet, sexy, and funny. Lots of laugh out loud moments and some ‘awe he’s so sweet’ ones too.
Mateo and Teague are both in their early twenties, just starting out in their careers. They meet in a bar, when they literally bump into one another, prompting the first if many laughs in this book.
Mateo has a secret that no one knows about. He’s L,A’s hottest new radio star. He’s also the son of Teague’s unexpected boss.
Teague is thrown in at the deep end when Gabrielle Gallagher decides in the spur of the moment to employ the coffee shop barista to be her next assistant. Teague is stunned but the giant paycheck sways her and she goes along with it.
Gabrielle is the proverbial boss from hell. I would have walked out the 1st day lol.
The job offers lots of fun adventures and some crazy escapades along the way, not least of which is bumping into Mateo again, minus the hot sauce from their first encounter.
When Gabrielle discovers that they know each other, she tells Mateo to stay away from Teague, but not for Teague’s sake. No, Gabrielle deems Teague to be too far below Mateo for him to be seen out with her,
Mateo has a mind and a will of his own and chooses to ignore his mom. Wanting to get to know Teague better, he agrees to be just friends. At least until she succumbs and lets him into her pants.
I really enjoyed the slower approach, and longer burn this story took, but when it got to the hot and steamy parts I wasn’t disappointed. But the story as a whole was just so endearing and kept me smiling, well mostly. Not when Mateo was being a douche, but thankfully that didn’t happen much.
I’m really looking forward to the next book in this series.

This book had made me really think. You don't always see things with others how it is good to know and worth the reading

I couldn't put this down! The story was written really well with great characters. The angst build up between Mateo and Teague was slow and well worth it!! Their relationship is complicated by Teague's working relationship with Mateo's mom, and Mateo has a secret that no one knows about.

I really enjoyed this story and really felt that Mateo and Teague built a relationship. It wasn't a spontaneous "I'm in love" situation, they really grew on each other and along the way it was sweet, romantic, hot, angst filled, fun and comedic. The slow burn was really great.

This was my first read of Robin's stories and I'm definitely a new fan.

What a fun story! This was a first for my by Robin Bielman and definitely won't be my last! Her alternating first person writing style was so easy to immerse myself into the story. I fell in love with Teague right away. She was such a strong female lead. Although she was a little shy and inexperienced, her independent streak was a mile long and I loved that she didn't feel like she needed to rely on anyone. After falling into a new job by accident, Teague is determined to prove herself to her new boss.
Mateo is living his dream as a serial dater all to fulfill his job of radio dj dating advice guru. Cocky, sexy Mateo can get anyone's blood racing. Readers will fall in love with the troubled past that holds Mateo back and will see how Teague challenges his commitment phobic way of life. Facing all the hurdles thrown in their way, including Mateo mother as Teague new demanding and disapproving boss, Bielman takes us on a comedic, sexy adventure readers won't want to put down.

Robin Bielman is a familiar name to me in the world of contemporary romance, with her Secret Wishes and Kisses in the Sand series being particular favorites. This is her first new adult novel (with a heroine who will be familiar to readers of the Secret Wishes series), about a radio show host and the young woman whom he'd like to be more than just a friend.
Mateo has it made if dating women and revealing his secrets of success as 'Bennett' the Brit on a radio talk show (with a convincing fake British accent that has all his listeners swooning) is any indication. It's in his contract that he can't reveal who he is when he's working on his 'research' and for a single guy not looking for commitment it's just what he wants. Until he meets Teague.
Teague is working at a coffee shop, taking online courses towards her goal of being a travel journalist after moving to L.A. from Oregon. The big city costs big money though, so she's recently taken on some extra hours for one of her usual coffee delivery stops, a hard nosed wedding planner. Teague initially meets Mateo at a bar where they hit it off, and discover they have some mutual friend connections. Teague isn't looking for a good time. She wants a real relationship and Mateo is bound by the rules of his secret contract to play the field. They decide to be friends, a decision complicated when they find out that Teague is working for none other than Mateo's mother! The sexual attraction between them makes a friends with benefits relationship look pretty attractive, even for Teague. But soon it will put Mateo's job on the line, when he'll have to choose between keeping his dating show host role or admitting to Teague that he wants to be more than just friends.
I enjoyed this slow burn romance! We learn early on that Mateo isn't British and since Mateo's accent on the radio is fake it's no wonder that people don't recognize him in real life for his radio role. I really liked him as a character. He's attractive and friendly and a little bit smug in his own self worth as a dating partner, but not in an obnoxious way. He comes across as confident with women, making it a challenge for him to just be friends with Teague (a challenge he eventually loses).
Teague is also a great character, hardworking and intelligent, but also a bit of a pleaser. By that I mean she sometimes has trouble sticking up for herself though she gets better over the course of the story, in particular where Mateo's mom, a very driven woman and Teague's boss, is concerned. I liked how Teague interacted with other secondary characters in the story, whether it's Briggs, a security guard or her best friend Harper. She's comes across as a nice and friendly person.
As I said this is a slow burn romance, since Mateo is bound by his contract to date several women making it hard to date Teague as well and relegating her to the friend category. Once he's met Teague, he's not interested in getting into anything physical with other women, so even though he has a few dates lined up for the show, there isn't any cheating in this story. Eventually Mateo and Teague share some sexy scenes and realize that just being friends isn't going to work any more. I liked how the plot moves along and the choices they both have to make towards a happy ending that is a great fit for the story. There are some teasers involving what's likely next in the series and I'm looking forward to reading more about this group of characters!

I loved the premise of this novel. I found it very fresh and fun. I liked that the hott alpha guy had issues with believing women wanted him for him. He could get (almost) anyone he wanted, but were they there for the right reasons? This was a novel that had everything I look for. Plenty of Romance and Drama, with lots of wit and humor laced throughout.

If you follow the books I read, then you know I love just about anything with a British hero. So imagine my surprise when this book does not have have a British hero and the hero using a fake British accent is supposed to be giving dating advice but is pretty clueless.

I was ready to put this one down pretty quickly, but I pushed forward. For one, I liked Teague. She was a heroine I immediately connected with. And I'll admit, Mateo intrigued me. But I was lost on the whole dating advice gig. He was just as clueless about dating/relationships, seemed to use his job as a way to get laid and material for his next show. It seemed way to shallow for a guy who actually ran a charity soccer camp.

Some may love this book, but I think the title and the blurb did more of a disservice to this book than the storyline itself.

My Thoughts:

TALK BRITISH TO ME is one sexy, sweet and romantic read. I loved Mateo and Teague. Teague is a hopeless romantic. She wants nothing than to find a guy and settle into relationship bliss. Mateo is literally "the Dating Guy" and has no desire to be a one woman man. Except...he can't get Teague out of his mind. The last thing he wants is to date other women. I loved the way their relationship evolves - they both know that it will never work, but they can't stay away from each other.

I also really enjoyed how much these characters talked to each other. A lot of the time characters in romance novels don't have meaningful conversations about the past and hopes for the future. Mateo and Teague have many moving conversations. They also help each other achieve dreams. They are perfect for each other.

Rating:

the book girl gives TALK BRITISH TO ME a 5/5

Holy mother of hotness! This is my first read by Robin Bielman and it did not disappoint! Even the cover is drop dead gorgeous! I finished this book within hours of starting it. I couldn’t help but devour it; I loved everything about this book, and I bascially had a great time reading it. It was light and fun to read. To me, it was a breath of fresh air and it definitely got me out of my reading slump.

The storyline kept me entertained and engaged throughout the entire book. I loved how the author built up the characters’ relationships from start to finish and that it was a very unique plot altogether.

“She’s become my favorite dose of happy, and her blue-eyed innocence gives me a buzz I’ve never felt before.”
The characters together are freakin’ adorable. They fit in their own way and I love that about them. They are somewhat polar opposites and it works for them..sometimes. Most of the time. The chemistry is there throughout the entire novel, but Robin builds it up and up and up and I swear by the time everything amazing happens in the sexy-time department you are ready to combust right along with them. I really don’t read a lot where there is literally a slow build up and the characters have a lot of extensive dialogue and I have to admit….I ate it all up! I loved it.

“When you’re ready to touch my lips… Let me know, and I promise I’ll touch yours back.”
Teague was wholesome and feisty and everything I think may young adults aspire to be. She’s determined to make it on her own and has friends and a family who love her. She had just the right amounts of sass and sweetness to keep me, and Mateo, on our toes and I loved it. She was a character that I could easily connect with and that helped me abosorb myself better into the story.

“She is so damn considerate she must have unicorn in her, because I’ve yet to meet a girl as selfless as she is.”
Mateo seemed like an egomaniac who only bedded women and then forgot about them, but deep down he was so much more. He was actually a really decent guy and I found him very attractive because of it. I love the friendship that blooms Mateo and Teague and the chemistry between them is amazing!!!

Just because I hit it and quit it doesn’t mean I don’t treat my date like she walks on water…
Again, this book was a breath of fresh air for me. I loved every second I spent devouring it!!!

Talk British to Me (Wherever You Go) by Robin Bielman
This is Mateo and Teague's story.

This was a fun and steamy romance. I fell in love with Teague and Mateo. So, if you like a fun romance with a lot of spice then this book is for you.

I laughed so much reading Teague and Mateo's story. They both had things that they thought they wanted in life. Sometimes in life we don't see what's right in front of us. Will Teague and Mateo take a chance on love or let it pass them by? You just need to read their story.

FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

4.5 Stars!!!

Robin Bielman, new-to-me author, had me hooked. I was so giddy while reading this book. It was swoony, fun, adorable and a light-hearted read. The anticipation while waiting for the two main characters to give in to their attraction made me want so much more of this slow burn romance.

Mateo and Teague were a fantastic pair! Their banter was hilarious. And oh my gosh their flirtation was just perfect! They were absolutely cute together. The right amount of sweetness and hotness.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will definitely read more books by this author.

This was a lighthearted fun story that I enjoyed so much. It was a sweet story with little angst and all swoon and heart. The was my first book from Robin Bielman, but I am definitely excited to go back and read more. I thought the characters were well developed. You had a great picture of who they were. I also loved the slow burn relationship and watching the way it all progressed. This was a creative story that will definitely be on my reread list.

Talk British to Me is fun, sexy and sweet. Teague is a math whiz from a small town in Oregon who lives in LA. She's out from underneath her family's protective cover, and she's making it on her own, for the first time. She and her friend Harper, and nearly all of LA, love to listen to Bennett, LA's own The Dating Guy, with his sexy British accent, dole out advice to all the single guys in LA. But it's Mateo, her new boss's son, who ultimately makes her swoon.

Mateo (Tayo) is so hot that he flusters poor Teague, but she knows better than to get involved with a smooth, charming guy like him. She's had her heart broken once already, she has no plans of letting that happen again. And she knows if she were to get involved with Mateo, it would inevitably end up with her heart broken as he dumps her for the next woman in the long line of women she knows he dates and dumps. So, she settles for just friends with Mateo, even though "he's ridiculously good looking. Around my age, I'd guess, dark, almost-black hair, square jaw, great cheekbones, striking green eyes." Teague (Knox, TW) gets under Mateo's skin, with her combination of kindness, honesty and innocence. He can't stop thinking about her, even when he's not with her, and that's a first for him. "Teague is beautiful, on the reserved side, intelligent, and her blue eyes are more honest than any I've looked into in a long damn time."

As they drift into a quasi friendship, the attraction is simmering, but neither seems to make any effort to do anything about the attraction. Teague, because she doesn't want her heart broken, and Mateo because his job contractually obliges him to stay single. And he knows that Teague is a forever kind of girl, not one to settle for FWB or anything remotely resembling casual. "She's not that kind of girl. I knew five seconds after I met her and she accidentally grabbed my junk then blushed twenty shades of pink that she didn't do casual. But maybe I can get her to change her mind." And so Mateo makes his move and Teague resists, until she doesn't, until she takes Harper's words to heart and lets go and decides to just have some fun, even if that fun won't land her in a relationship, even if it's just for the now.

Of course, things never run smoothly in the land of relationships, friendships, what have you, even when it's something casual, and Teague gets her heart broken because Mateo turns back into a douche. And I was hurting for her, because it was inevitable that he'd hurt her, he knew he'd hurt her, he even admitted it to himself a hundred times. And when he does his grand gesture, I was less than impressed, but Teague was far more forgiving than I am, and she melted. I admit, he's a bit hard to resist, especially when he's being all vulnerable and stuff, but still, I thought she deserved better, a lot more groveling and begging an apologizing. But then, I am not the kind person Teague is.

Teague is my favorite part of Talk British to Me. She's kind and sweet without being a doormat. She's smart and independent and the kind of woman we'd all want for our BFF. The perfect kind of heroine in my opinion. I was less impressed with Mateo. Yes, he's got a kind heart, but he came across as a little too confident, and really not the nicest guy. I think Teague could have done better, actually.

I like Talk British to Me, but because Mateo came across as a douche sometimes and the story languished a bit in the middle, I can't give it 5 stars. 4 stars, though, because for the most part I enjoyed it. How could I not? It's sweet, sexy and fun and Teague is a delight. And hopefully Harper and Levi's story will be even better than Talk British to Me!

As the Dating Guy on L.A.'s top morning show, I give the single guy's perspective on dating, love, and sex—and I give great advice. Everyone's hooking up...well, except for me. Sure, I can get any woman I want, but I've got a "no relationship" clause in my contract and the only woman I want has "relationship" written all over her. Probably stamped on her ass, too. And wouldn't I like to confirm that.

Unfortunately, she wants nothing to do with me. At all. Something about the next Ice Age might have even come up in her rebuttal. Adorable. Because she's determined to ignore what one simple kiss proved: she wants me as badly as I want her.

Everything in me is screaming to go after her, but I've got a secret that I'm fairly certain will end up with her roasting my nuts over an open fire. So, job on the line? Check. Nuts on the line? Check. Can't get her out of my head? Nail...meet coffin. But what a way to go...

I really enjoyed this book. It had a premise that has been done before however, there was not the case once you get into it. I found that I loved "Bennett" and he was the perfect guy or as his real name was Mateo. His mother was a raving lunatic though....in a good way!! I love Robin and her books so I read them all. There were places where I was laughing out loud. If you're a fan then you'll definitely be reading this and I would be recommending it.

I was given an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest opinion. All opinions stated are my own and do not reflect anyone else's.

Talk British to Me is the first book in the Wherever you Go series by author Robin Bielman. I have really enjoyed a lot of Robin’s other books, so I was pretty set on reading this one when it came out. But then I read the summary for it and I was totally hooked. An American man that poses as a British dating guy to stay anonymous for his popular dating talk show. And a young lady who has a huge crush on said british talk show host, but meets the american version in real life and non-dating hijinks ensue. Umm, yes please!

Talk British to Me is told in dual narrative between Teague and Mateo. I really liked both of the main characters a lot. We got to know them each really well and I loved the slow burn of their relationship. They are great friends first and foremost, even if Mateo wanted to date her pretty much from day one. Well, maybe date is not the right word…

Teague is great. I loved that interwoven with the whole romance aspect of the story was Teague working for Mateo’s mother- a very highly sought after wedding planner. That aspect of the story had a Devil Wears Prada kind of vibe going on that I really enjoyed. But the main focus was very character driven with our couple to be. I loved how lighthearted and fun the story was. I very much enjoyed their journey, their friendship and their banter. I didn’t want their story to end. I think the series is going to be a group of interconnected standalones, each one focusing on a different couple. This is a model that will work well for Teague and Mateo’s two groups of friends.

The only think I wish Talk British to Me had a little more of was the whole radio show host aspect. There wasn’t much, if any, off air british talking. I would have liked for Mateo’s two lives to have intersected a little more. A close call or two of him being found out would have been a lot of fun, especially if it involved Teague almost finding out. But sadly, that was not the case. It was very drama free, and largely stress free for Mateo in that regard.

Bottom line: Talk British To Me was a light hearted, fun summer romance that I gobbled up in one sitting. I really enjoyed this character driven story and I think you will too. If you are an old fan of Robin Bielman, you won’t want to miss this novel, and if you are new to her work Talk British to Me is a fun sexy romance that you will want to check out.

Such a sweet story! Both characters were SO likable- Teague is intelligent and somewhat reserved heroine- someone you'd love to have in your friend group. Mateo is sexy and charming and so funny! Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes, and when you toss in a good slow burn, I'm a goner. Robin Bielman really nailed this one! The storyline is fun and light and engaging- I absolutely loved Talk British to Me!
