This was a great sequel to Restless Spirits and I was glad to be back with our favorite Wilson sisters again!

Just another run of the mill paranormal fantasy novel however I am utter trash for easy and predictable reads at times and this was just what I needed at the time.

Ghost, humor, suspense, and two people who hate each other because of a misunderstanding. It is a good base for a book if you ask me. And it was very well-written here. I would totally recommend this book to anyone, who like ghost-stories with a little bit of humor, lots of romance and of course suspense.

This was a good book but I had a hard time finishing it. It's not that it wasn't a fast flowing storyline it just wasn't my cup of tea.

This was a totally delightful tale, replete with some returning characters as well as a slew of new ones, both living and dead. The book is full of people and ghosts, all just trying to do their best in life – or death, as it may be. The interactions between sisters Ron and Chris are so enjoyable, often humorous, sometimes cranky, and almost always meaningful. The interplay that is added with other individuals makes it even more interesting and often fun.

The story is much less dark than its predecessor volume in this series, even though the danger is just as real, and turns out to be more from living sources than dead. There is plenty of mystery and intrigue, including some old-fashioned snooping, as well as ghostly sleuthing. Chris finds herself in danger on more than one occasion; luckily, Ron, even though dead, proves to still be a very able protector, and is able to round up good slew of secondary characters, who are helpful.

The connection that develops between Chris and Derek is a fun one to watch progress. Talk about an unexpected relationship! Neither of them is really prepared for it, but that’s probably what makes it so fascinating to watch.

I was disappointed that Ron’s sweetie Joe was rather sidelined in this tale, but the fact that it was actually addressed in the action was good. Hopefully, he’ll be included more in any future episodes.

This story has a definite resolution and ending on many fronts, but there is definitely room for more storylines. I understand that the author has at least one more tale in the pipeline, and I can’t wait to read more about Ron, Chris, and their beaus.

Christine/Chris lived with her sister Ron and her man Joe and their dog Buster. The thing was Chris was the only live person in the house the rest where ghosts but that was okay because Chris could see and talk to the dead. Ron had been a successful author and left the royalties from her books to Chris but Ron too had been killed as she had been pushed down the stairs and died. Christine was a medium and she was the real deal.Christine doesn’t charge people she just wants to help both the dead and living. Derek is a non believer and a crime reporter who lost his brother to a violent crime and still felt guilty even though it had been fifteen years . Jimmy had been killed by a thug from a home invasion and the murder had never been solved. Derek also had a reason for his non belief. When Jimmy had been murdered Derek was thirteen and his father paid a psychic to try to communicate with Jimmy and the person was a fraud and totally screwed them over. So Jimmy did a news piece on Christine and in his mind and many others proved she was a fraud and hurt Christine's reputation as well as Christine . But this was deja vu as when Chris was in high school and Derek a junior in college he had come to Chris’s school to write a piece on her paranormal club he had written such a nasty piece that the club had almost been shut down. Ron is very mad and finds Derek’s home and goes to haunt it when she finds out it is already haunted by Derek’s brother Jimmy but he doesn’t know how to get Derek’s attention. Ron decides to help him and says Chris will help him to. Ron also teaches Jimmy some tricks to draw Derek’s attention and promises to return so Jimmy can communicate with Derek and move on. It has been fifteen long years for Jimmy. Derek doesn’t want Christine near him as he blames her for the tricks Jimmy did trying to get Derek’s attention. Even though Christine mentions Jimmy’s murder and he was there Derek doesn’t believe her and thinks she just looked up Jimmy’s murder and got the information. Derek does finally remember the incident when he had been a junior in college as he had felt Chris was familiar to him. Now Chris feels a sizzle with the smallest touch from Derek. Derek showed up one morning with coffee and donuts and apologized for his piece on the news and said he would make it right somehow. Jimmy had finally got through to Derek and talked to him using scrabble tiles. She also gave Derek a ghost box that somehow allowed ghosts to talk through to the living. Then Derek asked for Chris’s help with Jimmy and she forgave Derek and agreed.
I loved this story it was great. I chuckled while reading this book at times and choked up once or twice. I loved how Ron still felt protective as the big sister even though she was dead. I loved how forgiving Chris was especially that wasn’t the first time Derek had hurt her and almost destroyed something that was important to Chris. Also that Chris was willing to help Derek even f it put her and Derek in danger. I liked Derek’s and Chris’s relationship after Derek finally believed that Chris was the real deal and not a fraud. I understood why Derek was like he was until Jimmy finally broke through to Derek. I absolutely loved this story, and the plot and pace. It was an easy and fun read, I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this story and I highly recommend.

So, what did I like about it?
Jean Marie Bauhaus is a new-to-me author; I found her writing style easy to read and enjoyed the way she paced the plot. I thought the opening chapter was good; sets the scene, introduces us to some main characters and gives us glimpses into their personalities as well as starting the mystery aspect off.

I liked the dimensions that Ms Bauhaus gave to all her characters here; I enjoyed getting frustrated with the gung-ho actions of Ron (Veronica - our main character’s dead sister) and I loved the emotional turmoil that both our living and dead characters went through, they all developed and by the end of the book I think they’d all grown. I did shed quite a few tears at the more emotional scenes but the chuckles helped to keep this book from feeling heavy.

Primarily, this is a paranormal romance and I loved the journey that our main romantic couple, Derek and Chris (Christine), went on. Their obstacles – real and perceived, internal and external - really added that depth that I look for in romance stories. But what I really liked the most about this book was that it is cliff-hanger free, I mean, there will be more mysteries to solve, more ghosts to help in subsequent books but the murder mystery is solved and the romance aspect is concluded to satisfy my fluffy rose-tinted heart. ;-)

...So, ummm, was there anything I disliked about it?
Dislike is too harsh a description, there wasn’t anything in particular about this story that I disliked, however, it was all very neat and tidy edging towards Disney-esque, the murder mystery aspect of the tale is less Miss Marple more Father Brown; I knew who the villains of the book were by Chapter 15 :-( but on the plus side the romance aspect was cute enough to remind me that this is a paranormal romance not a thriller or horror story.

...So, basically what I’m saying is...
I enjoyed this story – it was good. I didn’t feel that there was anything in this book that was too scary, horrific or explicit - if it was a film I’m thinking Ghost but I’d say it was more PG than 15. I’d recommend this book to fans of romance/relationship stories who also enjoy ghostly paranormal settings.

This was an enjoyable read. I have not read the first book in the series yet, but the author did an excellent job of making sure you had some insight into what transpired in the first book so you don't feel lost when they reference previous events. I liked the characters, even Ron who at times I found to be a little much. I will be downloading the first book today.

I enjoyed book one immensely. Now, reading book two I like it even better. I will say because the ARC I was given didn't say unedited or uncorrected copy I have to go with the premise this is a final draft, because of that I rated this a 3.5 while if the errors in timing were corrected it would totally be a five star rating.

Chris is now living with her sister Ron and her life ever after mate Joe in the Baird house. This is the haunted house her sister and she were going to investigate in book one where her sister was murdered.

Chris, Ron, and Joe are watching channel 24's investigative reporter, Derek Brandt, discredit Chris and what she does on television. The problem was is he got it wrong. And this isn't the first time. When Ron sees this and threatens to go haunt him so he would have to retract that Chris asks her not to. Too bad Ron doesn't listen.

When Chris goes to haunt Derek she finds a surprise herself and then comes home to an upset Joe and to an unbelieving Chris when she tells her she has to help.

The journey of what happens next is both harrowing and funny. You'll have to read to find out but Chris and Derek might just finally meet in common ground.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Sometimes you stumble upon a book, where you are directly intrigued by the blurb. Kindred Spirits is that kind of a book. It has an original story, written perfectly in a fast (but not overly) fast pace, which keeps you on edge.

We meet Derek, journalist and cynic, who is definitely not into the spirit world. He just unmasked Christine as a charlatan, who claims to be a medium. What he doesn't know, is that Chris actually can see and talk to ghosts. For instance with Ron (short for Veronica), her deceased sister, who is definitely not amused at the news item about her sister. So she goes to Derek's home to haunt him and teach him a lesson.

What a shock it is to meet Jimmy, Derek's older (but very dead) brother. He is trying for years to contact his brother Derek about his unsolved murder. In Ron and Chris he finally sees a possibility to communicate with his brother. But Chris is not really enthusiastic to discuss her ghostly talks with the suspicious Derek. But can they put their differences aside, to help Jimmy find peace?

The closer Derek and Chris come to actually solving the murder of Jimmy, the more dangerous the situation becomes. Can they solve the murder? Or will they become a ghost as well?

The story is wonderful, original, but also full with suspension, unexpected twists and emotional moments. So definitely five out of five stars from me. And I'll go and try Restless Spirits, to read about Ron's story as well. With a big thank you to Netgalley for providing the ARC.

This is part of a series and I highly recommend reading in order,. This book can stand-alone as long as you are aware it is not the whole story line. A light read and fine for young adults. Story started off a bit out-of-nowhere, but quickly pulled in the characters and plot. I liked the "I'm not a psychic, I'm a medium" and then she was not like the ones on the telly or putting ads in backs of community newspapers.
