I loved this book! After getting an advanced review copy on NetGalley, I decided to buy my own copy. I haven't started my side hustle yet but every time I see this book, I am inspired to. I love how the author broke everything down to actionable and compounding steps.

I like Chris Guillebeau and like his book, but for some reason I found this one was the same as his past books. Like the same concept. I don't think is good or bad. For me did not work, but It could work for you if you're in the perfect moment for it. Each person needs is differents so this could be what you need now.

Chris Guillebeau in Side Hustle shows you ideas to go From Idea to Income in 27 Days. Recently I saw ana rticle on building a Side Hustle in a year. So you see, its not the time frame that is important for a side hustle rather the lather, rinse, repeat of finding out whats going to provide freedom and job security.
One point says 'side hustles are all about action'. Today I read of the fastest side hustler, a race driver.
Very accessible book.

Are you looking for a way to make money on the side of your regular job? Starting this kind of business can seen like an insurmountable task. In this book, Guillebeau takes you step-by-step through the process, helping you to get that business started in about 4 weeks.

I liked several things about his approach. First his steps are clear. While you will have to put work in doing your side of them, the steps are clearly set out and explained. Second I loved that he has written a book that applies to just about anyone. Too many experts covering this field suggest you make your money through a particular path be it affiliate marketing, video classes, or consulting. But none of these approaches applies to everyone. With Guillebeau's approach you can tailor you new project to your needs.

Great book for anyone looking to begin find ways to create multiple streams of income. Chris walks you through the process of generating ideas and then turning those ideas into additional income.

This book was a good overall introduction to the concept of side hustles. I felt however, that it would be most helpful if someone already has an idea (or ideas) for a potential side hustle, as I didn't feel that the chapter on generating ideas was as useful as the implementation chapters. I would have preferred more information and examples regarding idea generation, as I don't feel that I'm the most creative person when it comes to figuring out what a feasible side hustle might be. If someone already has ideas though, and just needs some basic direction in order to get up and running quickly, this book could be really beneficial!

Unfortunately this is going to be my first bad review. I feel guilty! I wanted to like this book. Who doesn't want to have an idea and create an income in 27 days? I wasn't even really expecting to do any of the suggestions in 27 days. I thought if the book could give me some good ideas for the next few months I would be thrilled. But the book has all the ideas that are regularly in my inbox. It's not anything new. It's the same game all entrepreneurs are playing to try to get ahead.

Week 1: Build An Arsenal of Ideas
Week 2: Select Your Best Idea
Week 3: Prepare For Liftoff
Week 4: Launch Your Idea to the Right People
Week 5: Regroup and Refine

First, the chapter ideas alone are going to take more than 27 days to get through. 5 weeks is 35 days. I suppose you could say that in 27 days you could have your idea out into the world, but I think that it would be far from complete.

I'm also not comfortable with the idea that the author is suggesting people steal other people's ideas. I get that a lot of us do similar things. I am definitely not the only book blogger out there. There are lots of us! But I like to think that my writing and style is my own. I would never steal someone else's ideas, just as I would never want someone else to steal mine. Not cool!

"Day 3. Brainstorm, Borrow, or Steal Ideas. Using what you've learned about high potential ideas, brainstorm, borrow, or steal at least three possibilities for your hustle."

I just think there are other books and websites out there with ideas on how to make your side hustle work. I would suggest you search those out rather than using this book. For only being 272 pages it is a lot to get through and I didn't feel like I gained anything in the end.

I love a good self-help book, so I was disappointed that this one fell short for me.

I have been following Chris Guillebeau for a while, along with having read this book I have been listening to his daily podcast Side Hustle School. If you listen to the podcast, well, the book shares a lot of the same stories and you have already been given the information from the book over the course of the year so far. The benefit of reading the book, and having a copy of it, is that it works well as something to return to. Not only that but the ideas are presented in a methodical way to encourage you to go from having ideas to narrowing your focus and to the practicality of making your idea a reality.

Sometimes it is hard to encourage yourself to keep on track... and sometimes you can't imagine how to create deadlines for yourself, this book helps to encourage the dreamer to really create that hustle.

Having read several Guillebeau's earlier books, including the previous "Born For This", I was curious what he had to offer in the side hustle category, another subject I have read extensively about given that I'm a bit of a side hustler myself.
The book presents a step-by-step-by-step plan for you how to develop an idea for a side hustle, validate it and then build it into something lucrative. The idea is to have a functioning (and potentially lucrative) paid side hustle in a matter of five weeks.
The steps are easy to follow, the plan is simple and yet many will not take the opportunity to go for it. Why not? Guillebeau digs into this as well offering his own ideas and how you can overcome those things that are stopping you.
I revisited some of the steps I have taken to get my side hustles off the ground and am now in the process of polishing off the edges to make my products & hustles better and more appealing to potential buyers.
If you are walking around with thoughts of how to get your idea off the ground, this book is a good place to start.

I received an e-copy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a smart, practical, easy-to-follow guide for anyone who'd like to explore a side hustle. The author breaks down the process over 27 days and makes it painless (if your idea is solid and you're willing to put in the effort). I've read and enjoyed Chris Guillebeau's other books, and SIDE HUSTLE is my new favorite. If you have an idea you've always wanted to turn into a successful side business, this book will help you identify if it meets important qualities: feasibility, profitability, persuasion, efficiency, and motivation. The fill-in-the-blank prompts will help you get clear on what you're offering, why it's needed, and how your product/service can help.

There are two things that are true:

1) I generally don't like self-help reads.
2) I desperately want/need a "side hustle."

Chris Guillebeau provides a blueprint of sorts for those who are looking to engage in some side jobs. It's got a very "Four Hour Work Week" feel to it in a lot of ways, with a lot of hand-holding and "you can do it" affirmative-style framing. For someone like myself, who kind of knows the moving parts to doing some side gigs and has been stopping and starting on it, there's definite value in this book as a sort of inspirational text. Those who don't know what they're doing? This is possibly indispensable from this perspective in how easy Guillebeau makes it sound. But if you're already a hustler, there's not much here for you.

On a whole, this was a surprisingly better read than I anticipated. Good information, good balance of what one needs to make this work. No real complaints except its entry-level nature.
