Thank you to the publishers via Netgalley for an early release of this book for my honest review.

This was a quick read for me! The story was about Luke and Maddy who are complete opposites but despite that fall madly in LOVE in this hot, raw, and oh so steamy read. I admit the beginning of this insta-LOVE connection felt incredibly fake and unrealistic but as the story flowed you just can't help but to root for these two. This is the first book in the series of The Misadventures and it left me wanting to read more of this series. What an amazingly talented set of authors this series has to offer! Can't wait to devour them all.

Madison has divorced her husband and has decided she needs a break from Hollywood. So she heads to Avalon Springs to start a new chapter in her life. But she’s an East Coast girl who moved west to the big city and this is the exact opposite of what she’s used to. Plus right now, she feels nothing but pain and rejection so she doesn’t want to join into any of the group activities. The Luke appears in her life. He’s a decorated Retired Navy Seal with severe PTSD who just wants to be alone. He wants peace, quiet and solitude away from everyone and he gets this with his mountain home. This is such an amazing story of how opposites attract and how they both grow together in ways they have never dreamed of. I really enjoyed reading this book. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book that I received from Netgalley.

Well, steam can come out of these two! They are hot! It's really nice to read about people finding someone who really appreciates them and can take away the feeling of being lonely. It's also nice to read how these characters can compromise to have a middle point where both sacrifice and both feel comfortable. First it started with lust but then it turn into so much more. That man is intense in everything he does. He doesn't just loves, he possesses. And that is just what she needs, to feel important and valued. these two found each other in the oddest of way but they are great together. I loved it!

Madison Atwood needs an escape. She is newly divorced from a Hollywood actor and needs a break. She decides to book a month at a retreat in Northern California. Shortly after getting there she accidentally comes across Luke Dawson and his secluded cabin (after an embarrassing first encounter). Luke is used to living off the grid and Madison is used to a hectic Hollywood lifestyle. Can these two opposites make changes for each other or are they not meant to be?

This book is a nice and sexy read. The chemistry between the characters is well done and makes you root for them! I recommend reading this if you are looking for a quick (I finished this within a day) and hot read. I look forward to future Misadventures books!

Hi ForeverBookers,

I've read my sixth book for the booktubathon! It was Misadventures Of A City Girl by Meredith Wilde and Chell Bliss and it was so good!

NOTE: If you don't like highly sexual books then I'd stay away from this one. Also, some might class it as kind of instalovey but I didn't think it was. There's a PTSD thread running throughout it as well.

Misadventures Of A City Girl tells the story of Madison or Maddy, who after she's broken up with her husband goes to a mountainside retreat for a little while. What she doesn't know before she gets there, however is Luke, a rugged caveman type of man lives up on the mountain in a shack. Maddy and Luke have some adventures together both in and out of bed.

Spoilers Below...

Madison is a new divorcee at the beginning of Misadventures Of A City Girl . She wants to go away to Avalon, a mountain retreat for some time to herself.

"I don't want to be converted. I just need some quiet time, maybe a few massages and some fresh mountain air"

tells us that she doesn't want to become a mountain girl. "These are not my people" further demonstrates this. She still wants to be the city girl that the title of the book says she is, she just wants some time away to rest and recuperate.

The first look Luke, the caveman, as Maddy sometimes calls him, gets of Maddy is when she goes for a naked swim in the lake. He's taken with her then but later when she turns up at his shack later she gets a little more than she bargained for when he tells her

"I wanted you last night when you were spread out on that rock",

along with other, more heated confessions too. This is where we first see their sexual escapades take place. These escapades are literally in every chapter of this book so if you don't like highly sexual novels, I wouldn't recommend this. I don't mind reading sex scenes but as I said the main characters had a LOT of sex so it was kind of tiresome by the end. The book describes every little bit of these encounters too. It doesn't just breeze over them.

"All I could think about was him. The sexy stranger who came out of nowhere and, although he'd watched me, hadn't wanted to engage"

is what Maddy says before her and Luke's first sexual encounter so she's even thinking about sex without doing it.

"I'm better off alone. I prefer the peacefulness of my mountain"

is what Luke thinks in one of his parts before the first sex act but, boy does this change as the novel progresses.

"I'd sworn to serve and protect. Not attack and scare".

Luke is an ex army SEAL. He couldn't deal with the pressure of being in the army so he left to save himself. Here, he's saying he doesn't want to scare Madison off. He just wants to get to know her. He lives on the mountain because he doesn't want his experiences as a soldier to run into his life. When he's on his own, this doesn't happen.

Later in the book, Maddy takes Luke out to dinner in a downtown restaurant to try and help him get over his PTSD. This fails as they get into an argument with the serving staff there. However, it does make Luke see that he needs to be the one to make the first move in getting over what happened in his past. No one else is going to do it for him. I enjoyed reading about Luke's past and how his traumas still affect him now.

Madison's ex husband comes into the story to tell her that his mother, who she considered her mother too is dying. We don't see any of Maddy's real family so when she goes to see Susan it's nice to see her treated as a daughter like figure.

"My son still being an asshole?" is what Jeremy's mom says to her, meaning that she knows what Jeremy is like. She also tells Maddy to follow her own heart and not be pushed into anything by anyone. She wants Maddy to stand up for herself.

"You mean nothing to him" is Madison's ex's way of trying to get in her head and warn her away from Luke.

"His words are meant to sting, but they don't"

shows that Maddy isn't at all bothered and that she knows Luke better than she ever knew Jeremy.

What both Madison and Luke end up becoming is really sweet, I think. This novel proves that whatever the obstacle, whether it be an annoying ex, stress or just wanting space we should never let anything get in the way of what we really want out of life. That's why I'm giving Misadventures Of A City Girl 5 Stars! It wasn't groundbreaking literature by any means but it was really enjoyable to read.

Misadventures of a City Girl brings two wounded people who share some serious heat together in a remote Northern California mountaintop cabin during a storm. Sounds a bit cliche, but I thought it had possibilities. The main problem with the book is that the emotional wounds that Madison and Luke are struggling with, especially Luke's, are only explored briefly. Each character has one big confrontation with the other's issues and then they're over it and back in the sack. There's so much more conflict and character development that could take place that it falls flat.

On retreat from her life, Madison ends up in the mountains of California ad encounters Luke.

Luke aims to live a solitary life as his military service induced PTSD and this makes his life around noise difficult.

They fall in lust.

Big time.

I had expected some humour in the story telling from the title but this was missing. And in reality, PTSD is not so easily overcome even for a short time, and just living away from people won't fix it. So, some lack of psychological understanding of the syndrome by the author.

Otherwise, a nicely written romance of its type.

Cute read with a bit of intriguing and romance. It was a little different than what I normally read yet I still found I couldn't put it down. I'd recommend to a friend!

I love Meredith Wild's writing. But combine her writing with Chelle Bliss and the story just takes a trip on the wild side!
Madison and Luke found a way to be together while rediscovering parts of themselves that they thought were lost. They both had to overcome obstacles from their past in order to create their future together. The chemistry was right up there and I loved this book.
It is a must read!

RATING 4.5 STARS

Misadventures of a City Girl is book one in the Misadventures series. It is written by both Meredith Wild and Chelle Bliss. It is my first book by both of these authors. I loved this book but want to admit up front that somehow I thought this would be a quirky, silly romance story. But it wasn’t like that at all. It was sweet and sexy and I loved it.

Madison Atwood’s life most certainly hasn’t turned out the way she thought it would. She had married her high school sweetheart and supported him as he built his career only to have him very publicly humiliate her in Los Angeles by having an affair. Now divorced, she needs some time to heal away from the paparazzi. The Avalon Springs Retreat looks like just the place.

“Today I am Madison Atwood, and the next chapter of my life is going to start at Avalon Springs.”

The last thing Madison wants is to hang out with other guests. She wants quiet. So she heads up the mountain to the hot springs. No one is around so a very naked Madison goes for a dip. Except someone was around.

Luke Dawson lived a reclusive life on the mountain above Avalon Springs in a small cabin. Luke was a Navy Seal and needed to escape his memories of war. He couldn’t function around people so the solitary life on the mountain was his salvation. But then he saw her in the springs. He should have looked away, but he couldn’t.

After another chance encounter, these two embark on a very physical relationship. And let me say that these two are insatiable. They just never seem to tire! Chemistry soon becomes more. But Luke can’t leave his mountain home and Madison’s life is in Los Angeles. It would never work, would it?

For a reclusive mountain man, I simply fell in love with Luke. This man…the things he says! For being alone for so long, the words that come out of his mouth could melt glaciers. But no matter how strong his feelings were for Maddie, he knows his own limits, and those limits would never allow him to be happy in the city.

“This man…his words and his body, and the way he’s managed to rescue my heart from the depth of my misery and pull it into the warmth of his love. What did I ever do to deserve him?”

“Luke Dawson came into my life during a time when I least expected it and turned everything upside down. He saved me. He says I saved him, but in all honesty, he brought me back to the woman I was always meant to be.”

This was such a sweet and oh so sexy story of starting over. Both Luke and Madison needed a new start. Both thought their issues were insurmountable but in each other, they found strength and love and confidence. In each other they finally found love.

“Loving Madison has become the sole reason for my existence.”

Madison needs an escape from her life in the city. Her divorce has just been finalized, so for a little bit of a life reset she goes on a trip to the secluded woods of Northern California. Can a late night skinny dip bring her more than she bargained for?

Luke is a retired Navy SEAL living off the grid in the woods. He likes his simple life away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and away from the irritation of other people. That is until he gets quite the show one evening from an unsuspecting stranger.

I loved Madison and Luke's story. It was very steamy, very funny, and even a little bit sad. Their story is a bit of lust at first sight, that quickly turns into so much more. I feel like with their pasts these two were exactly what each other needed to have a brighter future. While not everything is fine and dandy from the start, the heat and undeniable connection between these two makes them strive for more.

If you're looking for a read that is fun and steamy, while still being a bit emotional then this is the read for you. Misadventures of a city girl is the perfect read for contemporary readers who like a healthy side of smut!

Once I started reading I didn't want too put my kindle down. Luke & Madison I absolutely love reading about. Luke is so damn sweet, sexy and who wouldn't love a sexy AF mountain man especially if he looks like Luke. Luke never thought he could be with a city girl but Madison made him feel things he hasn't felt in a long time. They both need each other and both can't seem to stay away. Absolutely an amazing collaboration and a 5 star read. Can't wait to read the other books in this series

When I first read the blurb - I completely expected something else, but then I got to read the book and I was flashed. The blurb is definitely an eye-catcher but the book itself is the true price. (I mean there are so many books, where the blurb is so much better than the actual book.)

The story compelled me in a way I never seen or better said, felt before. I actually never read something like this. It was really new to me - and lemme tell you something I have been reading everything in this genre, lol. So yes, it was a pleasant surprise. Can't wait for the next book of this series - seems like a successful one ;)

There is no big foreplay, if I can say it like that. You are fast in the story and you really fast start digging the main characters. Our protagonists do serve us everything really well, in particular the steamy sex scenes! Ugh people, I don't even know where to begin. I started sweating all over my body while reading, because their sexual-tension is everything and so much more. I felt it all over my body.
And as a tip, do not make the same mistake as I did - I recommend you to not read it in public.

As I said, you start to dig the main characters real hard and fast - but not that you want them to be real or anything just as entertainment causes. They won't stay in my mind forever or even a day longer than today, but they really were perfect for this book well storyline. I could not have write better protagonist.

All in all it was a good Sunday book or a book, when you're traveling with the bus or tube ALONE!

Hope you guys enjoy it, like I did.

xoxo,
Nisha

Two broken people, meet one another at the right time in their lives, and sparks fly. This is a steamy, fan yourself, kind of read. I really enjoyed this one. These two are opposites, but somehow work. They both healed that which was broken in the other. A cabin in the woods, lots of steamy sex, conversation, and two people fall in love with one another. The city girl and the mountain man find a way to meet in the middle and get their HEA. I loved Luke! I really liked Madison as well. This was such a good story and very entertaining.I highly recommend this book.

OMG! I can only apologise for not having read either of these authors in the past!

Together they have written an exceptional story. Fast-paced, sexually charged with truly believable characters, plus a really great plot, what more can a reader ask for?

I can’t recommend this book highly enough and advise that you keep a cool drink on hand, as Luke will have you melting, simply by being his drool-worthy self!

I was lucky enough to receive a advanced review copy of this book. I love the writing and storyline. I couldn't stop reading it. I loved every second. Chelle Bliss and Meredith Wild what an amazing romance book. Highly recommended this book.

I have read books by both Chelle Bliss and Meredith Wild in the past, and I am so over the moon that they have decided to collaborate and put their talents together! Chelle's more down to the basics skills with Meredith's edgy scenes I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one and it was really good. There are things that I wasn't overly thrilled with in my opinion too much of Luke and Madison's relationship focused on sex, I love that it shows that they had a physical connection and chemistry, I just wish that there was a little bit more substance. Madison is running away from the end of a long term relationship and Luke is mountain man, long hair beard, plaid, the whole nine. He is such a troubled soul and I wish there was a little more of his back story, like some of who he was before his ex and the military changed him in to who he is in this book. Overall the pair's writing flowed together seamlessly and the story was perfectly integrated. It was a good first book in an entire series. (yes I know they are all stand alones.) I am looking forward to the rest of the Misadventure's series
