Tracy and Kins are investigating a hit and run that of a 12 year old African American , D'Andre Miller. The suspect is a Navy based Officer Laszlo Trejo but is proven innocent . Tracy though believes that justice was not served and digs deeper only to uncover a conspiracy that puts her in great danger. Meanwhile Del Castigliano is struggling with his niece's fatal heroin overdose and along with his partner, Vic Fazzio, tries to hunt down the dealer whose supply is resulting in the high number of OD’s happening around the city

Close to Home by Robert Dugoni is the fifth installment in the Tracy Crosswhite series .This is another action packed thriller with great characters that will keep you hooked to the end. A great addition to the series

I would like to thank Thomas Mercer & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.

This is the latest in the Tracy Crosswhite series set in Seattle but could be read as a standalone. There are two main threads in the novel that begins with a hit and run that turns out to be so much more and the increasing fatal heroin ODs in the city, especially among high school students. Tracy and the "A Team" are called in to investigate the hit and run, especially as the black community are paying close attention and fear that once again it will be a case of black lives don't matter.

Tracy and Kins Rowe are looking into a hit and run that killed the 12 year old D'Andre Miller. They manage to track down and arrest a suspect, who turns out to be in the military, and is based at a local Naval base. The Navy claim jurisdiction and manage to get the case transferred to a military court. When a major piece of evidence disappears and the suspect is cleared, Tracy refuses to let this injustice go and digs deeper. When she uncovers what appears to be a conspiracy, danger to her and others comes about. In the other story, Del is grieving while struggling to come to terms with the fatal heroin overdose that claimed his niece. With his partner, Vic Fazzio, he is determined to hunt down the dealer and look into a rise in the number of deaths due to a deadly heroin that is causing ODs in the city.

This is a well plotted and gripping story that has me hooked from the start. I liked that we got to know Kins and Del better in this book. We also meet a new character, Celia, who Del is beginning to date. There is plenty of humour and glimpses into the everyday lives of the team. It is nice to see them as real, with Tracy's fertility concerns, Kins' health scares and the meeting of Del's extended family (especially his nephews). There were issues dealt with in this story, but especially the heroin trafficking and addiction. Be sure to read the Author's acknowledgments where he talks about this. Also the issue of crimes against African Americans, how they are investigated and handled by law enforcement, including the military are probed with both sides of the story getting equal time. Once again, Robert Dugoni has penned a thriller that kept me up late into the night wanting to find out where this story was going. I was very satisfied when this story ended, with all the ends tied up and the reader sated. Well done! I highly recommend this story to lovers of thrillers and suspense.

I always enjoy reading the books in the Tracy Crosswhite series! This one was no exception. I find myself attached to the characters and I can’t get enough of their stories and dedication. I hope there will be many more books in this series because I enjoy it so much!

A special thanks to Robert Dugoni, Thomas & Mercer and NetGalley for providing me with an advance reader's copy of this book.

I enjoyed reading CLOSE TO HOME by Robert Dugoni. It was wonderful to meet up again with Seattle homicide detective Tracy Crosswhite, Kins, Del, Faz and Dan and the dogs, Sherlock and Rex. It was like reconnecting with old friends.

I like the way Robert Dugoni makes the story relevant to current social problems such as racial prejudice and the rising number of people dying due to drug overdoses.
Robert Dugoni is one of my favourite authors and I look forward to reading his next mystery in the Tracy Crosswhite series.
4.5 stars ****

Number 5 for Tracy and it sucked me in yet again. This time she is out to solve a hit and run of a teenage boy all while one of the A-teams family members overdoses on drugs. What makes a surprising turn is that both cases ended up tied together that leads them to the difficult task of breaking into military law. This book takes you through heartache after heartache in the path of justice. We meet a possible new couple, get more news on the possibility of Tracy and Dan expanding the family, and just keep getting to know these great characters. So excited for the series to keep going!

Love this series, Entertaining, likable and a little love story thrown in. My favorite in the series is still the first, but I have enjoyed all the books and am anxiously waiting for #6.

I am along for the Tracy Crosswhite ride. I read and text my friend furiously. We're obsessed. It's set in places I live near, which is always a plus. This one said it doesn't snow in Seattle though, which is a goddamn lie but okay. I moved past that and let Crosswhite's boring coworkers live their stories and for some reason I care. It cannot be explained.

Amazing, as I suspected that it would be. What started with a teenager overdosing and a hit & run morphs into something so much bigger. Just when you think everything is cut & dry the whole story gets flipped up side down. Robert Dugoni is a brilliant writer that will keep you guessing up until the very last minute!!

I have read every novel in this series so far, and I have loved it! It is a refreshing change up to other series.

The 2 plot lines intertwined flawlessly throughout this entire novel. Each development in the cases lead down a different path, and kept me guessing the entire time. Every character was built upon in manners that only strengthened them. There were more personal details revealed about the characters other than Tracy, which was extremely refreshing. This made the novel feel different than any other Tracy Crosswhite novel, in a very good way. Tracy became more of her own person and not the detective with a dead sister who's case haunted her for years.

This novel tugged on every emotion it could from the beginning. And it didn't stop until the novel ended. If I go any further I will give a lot away. This novel successfully took on two major topics in the economy and informed readers about them, while keeping it entertaining at the same time.

Will I continue to read the Tracy Crosswhite series? You bet I will!

I received a copy of this novel from the publisher and author, through NetGalley, in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Love, Love, Love this book! A not to miss series! Each gets better and better. When you spend a day reading the entire book, you know you found an author you'll be waiting on the end of your seat for their next! As enjoyable as any Stuart Wood or Michael Connelly book.

This had a great start but then turned to more of a drug angle, which I don't enjoy. I still enjoyed the characters, but can't say this was my favorite.

I am so vested in Tracy and Dan well really with everyone this cast of characters you cant help but love and you cheer them on during the good times or cry for them during the bad. I love the new couple Del and Celia I hope they work out I love that she is taking charge and getting that relationship up off the ground. Oh and the crime and mystery was good too. Can't wait for book #7 to come out later this year!!

My thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Robert Dugoni changes things up again in Close To Home, the latest entry in the Tracey Crosswhite series. This time she's investigating a hit-and-run death, rather than a cold case murder. We also dig a little deeper into the lives of her coworkers in the Violent Crimes Section and we take a trip across Puget Sound to the nearby Navy base and get caught up in a court martial that seems to be both a slam dunk and a railroad job. What's not different is Dugoni's skill at creating flesh and blood characters and vivid settings. He also weaves a gripping tale of mystery and intrigue.

I have read all 5 Tracey Crosswhite series novels and each one has been better than the one before! This novel gives readers a chance to become more acquainted with other series characters - it also required a lot of research, which I appreciated. There was the extra gotcha/twist at the end I always expect now but never, ever get right. Well done. Very excited for the 6th novel, A Steep Price, to be published next summer! Thanks to #NetGalley for the opportunity to review #CloseToHome in exchange for my review.

A desire for justice - will it lead to revenge.

Homicide Detective Tracy Crosswhite is called to a scene of an apparent hit and run. A young black man is left dead and a promising future is gone. His single mother is without justice. With the black lives matter, the situation becomes sensitive. Crosswhite knows first hand the grim news of a family that has lost loved one tragically and to be left without justice. She takes this case to heart, wanting closure for a mom that has lost a beloved son. With great detective work, she is lead to the navy and to Lieutenant Leah Battles. A defense attorney for the navy and a strong character that fits well with Crosswhite's character. The relationship between the two is interesting and promising. With a navy suspect for the hit and run, a conspiracy transpires and Crosswhite must unravel what is really behind the hit and run before careers are lost.

Another story is transpiring that weaves thru Crosswhite's case. Tracy's partner Del has suffered a personal loss. A niece dead from an apparent overdose. Feeling powerless to have stopped his niece from taking drugs, he struggles with how do families stop the epidemic of drug overdose. What laws can be enforced? How do laws help and not help? This part of the story really gave food for thought in these important issues.

I think what I enjoy most in these series is the heart of Tracy and her partners. They are not perfect but they are real.

A Special Thank You to Thomas & Mercer & Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review
