A beautiful picture book! I thought there would be more of a story but the illustrations made up for it. I shared the book with my 4 year old niece and she loved it. Thanks to Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Company and Netgalley for the ARC.

I decided that I loved it halfway through the book. The illustrations were beautiful and the feather and animal were perfectly done. Then I got to the surprise at the end, and it was even better!

Such a beautiful book: without needing any words it show us a series of birds and their typical plumes and feathers.

However, in every page there is something strange... what could it be the shadows that seems so interested in plumes and feathers?

The illustrations are realistic and truly beautiful, a small jewel.

Thanks to the publisher for providing me the copy necessary to write this review.

Plume by Isabelle Simler is a beautifully illustrated book of birds, feathers, and a sneaky black cat. The sleek cat slips into each illustration, twirling its tail around a stork's leg, peeking out from behind an owl, its whiskers nearly touching a parrotfinch. This is a fun seek-and-find book for little kids, and the illustrations are very pretty, but it lacks an engaging story for older kids. I would definitely buy this as a gift for a 2-4 year old.

From the domestic to the exotic Simler depicts delightful illustrations of birds and their feathers with a find and seek game with a collector of feathers.

I thought this book was adorable. I loved Simler's illustrations of simpler birds paired with their finely detailed feathers. Kids will love to find the little black cat on each page while enjoying the bright colorful illustrations. The ending is very child friendly as Plume is a collector of feathers for it's over sized pillow. I'm excited to see more books by Isabelle Simler.

Beautiful simplicity! Plume, the black cat, is the common thread page after page as we see hints of its black body lurking around a variety of different birds and their unique feathers. By the end of a series of lovely illustrations that contrast the graphic birds with their more detailed feathers, we are treated to a delightful and charming surprise ending!

Thank you to NetGalley for and advance copy of this book in exchange for and honest review.

A cute little picture book about a black cat named Plume. I loved that the feathers were labeled. And the artwork was gorgeous! This book is perfect for young readers.

This is a lovely picture book. It is nearly wordless, with only the name of the bird on most pages and a few lines of text about the cat at the end. Each page has an illustration of the bird, several feathers from the bird, and some part of the cat, which is hiding either just off the page or behind the bird.

I can see young children searching for and pointing out the cat on each page, as well as pointing out where some of the feathers came off the birds (e.g., the Parrotfinch is mostly green and yellow with a red throat and underbelly - children could be prompted to notice that the red feathers would have come from the throat and underbelly areas). This may be a fun introduction to birds and feathers for young children, and a conversation starter about birds, feathers, and colors.

Five stars. A cat named "Plume" collects bird feathers. He appears (at least some part of him--his tail, the top of his head, the side of his body) in each full-page illustration of a type of bird and its feathers. The only text on each page (except for the beginning and end of the book) is the the title of the bird pictured (duck, turkey, kingfisher, blackbird, etc.). The front and end pages feature an array of bird feathers along with the names of the birds they belong to. Educational and pretty, here's a book to help children gain an appreciation for God's creation of birds.

I would have preferred the cat to say his love of feathers in the beginning and a short description of each bird but i still loved it. I love the illustrations and how the cat peeks in each page. I love how families as they walk in parks and other places may see feathers from birds and they can remember which bird it goes with. Educational and fun.

I love illustrations and I think the children will love it! It's so colorful and every page have a cat hidden among the birds and that will surelly entertain kids a lot!

This is a good picture book that will help younger children with identification of feathers. As the birds vary they can use it at home and when they are out at the zoo too - good concept but could maybe do with a bit of a description about the bird shown, even just a sentence or two - 3 stars

A cute little mix of cat and birds. Teaches kids that there are many different kinds of feathers, and keeps them occupied with trying to find out what kitty Plume is doing. As an adult, I enjoyed the pretty pictures!

I love this book! A cute cat is exploring his feathery friends. The artist does a wonderful job capturing just a portion of the cat in each photo while teaching about birds and feathers. It's whimsical and a great book. I received an advance review e-galley for review purposes through NetGalley, but I loved it so much I pre-ordered a copy of the hardback.

This book is a lovely introduction to birds and the different types of feathers. With beautiful illustrations of the various feathers readers are able to clearly see what makes each one special and unique. The addition of the playful cat gives young readers something else to look for on each page and a little surprise at the end. Wonderful addition to a collection.

Beautifully illustrated, this short book introduces little ones to a variety of feathered friends, showcasing the bird and the colorful feathers of each. A cat named Plume accompanies young readers on each page, but Plume isn't interested in catching dinner. Plume loves collecting feathers.

This book is a delightful way to share the wonder of nature with future birdwatchers. Recommended for preschoolers and beginning readers.

This is a wonderful book that introduces birds from exotic birds like a peacock to chickens. We see each bird, labelled, and a grouping of their feathers to show that all the feathers are not the same. As well the reader can play "Where's the cat" on each page. You do not see the full cat, perhaps just an ear or the tail. The cat is not trying to hunt the birds, but it seems they are observing along with the reader. At the end, we find out that the cat just wanted feathers to make a comfy pillow. The illustrations are wonderful. This is a great way to introduce bird watching, talk about types of feathers and their purposes, as well as where birds live, what they eat etc. I really liked this book and so did my grandson. When we went outside he started looking for birds and asking what is that one called. A wonderful book for a home, public or school library.
