“Goodnight, Hockey Fans” was fun and kids will related to it. My favorite part was the surprise ending - I laughed out loud.

have to admit that I have a positive bias toward children's books that are about hockey. As a proud Canadian who also happens to have male children, hockey was a huge part of our lives for many years.

Anyway, with that said, I enjoyed both the story and the illustrations in this book. I think that kids can never have enough hockey titles in their library. I rate this book as 4 out of 5 Stars. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

An adorable story about a little hockey fan who wants to stay up to watch the game. His parents insist he go to bed, but he worries that he will not be able to fall asleep. He ends up dreaming he is in the game and scores the winning shot. Bright illustrations and welcome diversity make this a winner for any little hockey fan.

As a kid raised to love hockey, I can relate to the boy's predicament... especially having lived on the east coast while my team was playing on the west coast. This book captures the magic that surrounds sports and athletes in the mind of the young fan, and the illustrations in this book add to the whimsical feeling. If your children are hockey fans—or you want them to be—at this book to your home library. It will be a great bedtime read!

'Goodnight, Hockey Fans' by Andrew Larsen with illustrations by Jacqui Lee is about a young hockey player and what happens at bedtime.

A young hockey player is watching the game, but now it's bedtime. He doesn't want to miss the game, so he sneaks a radio to bed with him to hear the end of the game. As he dozes off to sleep, he dreams he is part of the game!

Any child knows how it goes when bedtime is near and you can't finish watching or reading or playing. I remember reading under the covers with a flashlight because I wanted to read one more chapter. This little hockey fan gets to do one better than I did by dreaming about his game. The story is a cute one and the illustrations match it really well.

Just a cute little story about a kid who really wants to stay up and watch hockey but has to go to bed. It has a traditional feel to it when the child ends up listening to the game on the radio. There is also a dream like feel when the child falls asleep thinking about hockey. The illustrations add to the dream like quality. I think adults who had similar experiences will love this book the way I did. Others might have trouble relating to the experience.

This is a must-have for little hockey fans. The story is relevant to kids who have wanted to stay-up past their bedtime to find out what happens when their favorite sports team is playing. I also liked that the boy was able to dream his own ending to the hockey game and created a better ending with him making the final score. It's a good bedtime story for kids especially if they're not able to finish watching or doing something. I like that kids can dream or imagine their own ending. It's a clever concept. The illustrations are attractive for young readers. The pace of the book is also nice - it's not too wordy and easy to read out loud. This is a fun book for young kids.

Fantastic artwork, but a mediocre story. We have better hockey books in our collection, so I don't see a need to order this one.

Goodnight, Hockey Fans
This is a cute bedtime story about a boy who is told to go to bed in the middle of watching a hockey game. He can't fall asleep not knowing what is happening in the game. He finds his dads old radio and finds the station playing the game. While listening to the game he falls asleep and dreams that he has joined the action.
I think that this was a cute and simple picture book. I loved the illustrations and the use of colour. All kids will be able to relate to having to go to bed and missing out on things. Go and pick this up when it hits stores for your little hockey fan.

The story has a sweet and wholesome view of family and love of hockey.
Children should have something in their lives that they are excited about that doesn't have a cord. The author takes the child into a fantasy world that is fun and believable for a young child who believes they can do anything.
Everyone dreams, not all dreams come true, but isn't it nice when a story brings the dream to life if just for a little while? Who doesn't have a secret wish to be or do something extraordinary? This book takes our hero on an adventure that is believable, if only for a moment. Make believe is a super power.

This book will be a favorite for hockey fans young and old.

I really enjoyed this book. My partner and I are both hockey fans. I see this as a picture book we would both love to read to our future child.

I remember that feeling of not wanting to go to bed because everyone else were still watching tv, so when the boy talks about listening from his bedroom I remember a time when I also did that. The boy worries about not being able to fall asleep though, I was just being cheeky.

With his torch he looks at the different hockey fixtures on his wall until he eventually pulls out his dads old radio to listen to the game while he goes to sleep. As he drifts off to sleep it seems the listening to the radio has made him dream of the hockey match but will him playing too.

This book is a sweet goodnight book and will be fun for the little sports fan, especially hockey fans. It shows that despite the little boys anxiousness that it is not worrisome to go to sleep and that sometimes you can have the most exciting, fun and sweetest of dreams.

The illustrations don't really appeal to me overall and I feel the greeny/blue colour was used to excessively. When it comes to illustrations though it really is a very personal thing and what appeals to one person may be different for another and I feel that this is how these pictures are.

I do recommend this book to little sports fans, especially those who are anxious at bed time.

I enjoyed the fact that this book uses the language of hockey in a narrative way, not something I see too often. The illustrations are reminiscent of the 50's, yet are modern enough to appeal to today's readers. I would love to see the boy given a name, but don't let that stop you from giving this book to a hockey lover.

My husband and sons play hockey, so I enjoyed this sweet story. The illustrations felt a little juvenile for that story, though.

I LOVE hockey so this was a no-brainer read for me. I'm always impressed to see African American children in picture books and even more impressed that this story depicted a white mother and an African-American father, so major kudos there. The story, however, didn't mesh well in the beginning. It didn't seem to flow right and I just didn't have much interest. I'm glad that I stuck with it because once the boy started to listen to the radio, I loved it. Kids will like the story, especially young hockey-playing kids.

Any child will tell you, bedtime sometimes comes at the worst moment. For example, when the boy is watching a hockey game. He'd like to stay up, but Mom and Dad are pretty clear that it's time to turn in. The boy finds a clever way to soothe himself to sleep where he has sweet dreams.

This was a charming book with wonderfully evocative watercolor illustrations. The art is soft, clean, and bright, exactly what you want for younger children. The story isn't terribly long or involved, and I could see young hockey fans appreciating it.

I read this to my 8 year old for her feedback--she is starting to get interested in hockey lately. While she liked it, the story is definitely a little young for her. I would say this is a good goodnight book for the 3-5 set.

I thought that the images were really nice in this book. The story was good and I enjoyed it, will be a firm favourite for any sports fans and parents who have trouble getting their little ones off to sleep.

I liked to read under the covers at night, and our story boy likes to listen to the hockey game. It makes him the star in his dream, able to score a goal and win one for his team. A book perfect for the little hockey fans in your life.
