Fun, colorful illustrations accompany this active story. This would make for a great movement based storytime.

What a wonderful idea to write a picture book about a twisting, fidgeting flea that jumps from animal to animal until he reaches the one he wants. This story is a wonderful, rhyming adventure that has fun with the word LEAP and is flowingly descriptive. I was surprised how it ended because I had an outcome etched into mind but I loved that it was different than I expected.

“LEAP! Into the path of a little grasshopper and that sets her jumping – no one can stop her –“
These words are fun, and flow easily off the tongue and will soon be learnt by your young reader. The rhyming nature of the words and repetitiveness of the word LEAP will become familiar with the reader will support reader development.

The illustrations are beautiful works of art, which have been listed as being mixed media. However, the water colours are what catch my eyes and the beautiful balance between colour and white space on the page. I really appreciate that different types of media used in books because it introduces children to art and creativity, just another reason to love and share picture books.

One of my most favourite pages in the book is the fish leaping out of the water, with splashes of watercolour splashed onto the page. It’s intriguing, beautiful and would make a beautiful art piece on a wall.
There are a couple of words that were difficult to understand and I tripped over them when reading the words out loud, but this is such a minor issue in what Is a fantastic book.

The book does have quite a lot of words so my recommendation in a group session would be pre-kinder and kinder age as opposed to the toddler age group. Prepare to enjoy this book and for your eyes to feast upon some beautiful artistic expression.

This is an adorable read where the leaping chain reaction all begins with a little flea bothered by midges. His initial leap sets off a flurry of activity through the meadow and around the pond. The colorful illustrations and rhyming scheme are enchanting.

I loved the language in this picture book about a circuit of animals who all leap. The art work is fun and energetic but the story is the real star here. Kids are going to love this one!

Leap was a cute book written in verse about different animals interacting with one another connected through leaps. Cute, but it didn't engage my children very well.

An exciting and well-illustrated book about the life of a flea amongst flowers and the animals.

This book is full of lovely poetry. I love the use of the different animals that leap everywhere! The illustrations are engaging and provide lots of talking points. I would enjoy reading this to my son and will be adding the book to my shopping list.

I liked the illustrations and the word use. The only thing that didn't click for me was the rhyme scheme. I wasn't sure about the rhythm of the book. Other than that, I could see our students liking this one.
