This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and engrossing throughout the whole book. I was invested in the couple throughout the book and felt all the emotions through both the highs and lows of the story. The side characters were such an integral part of this story as well. This is the love story i needed to read at this time. If you want an entertaining and well written book this is it for you

Dark Horse is the first book in Whitehorse, Montana: The McGraw Kidnapping series. Each installment is about a McGraw brother finding romance. Dark Horse is Cull's account. He's the oldest and isn't looking for the attraction he feels for Nikki. For me, the romance is just a bit of side narrative. The main focus is the puzzle of the kidnapping and possible murder of the two youngest siblings which happened 25 years ago. Nikki is a true crime writer. She is known for helping to solve old mysteries while doing research to write her novels. I'm crazy about Nikki and really enjoyed following her investigation. She's very likeable, and there are some eerie and exciting occurrences along the way. This is an interesting whodunit, and it left me wanting to continue to find out what's next for the McGraw family.

I didn't end up finishing this book so I can't give a fair review. It just didn't hold my interest.

I loved the suspense and the who-done-it of the book. It had a great story and I wish it was expanded a bit. It also was a quick read for me. There are sequels to this. So that's a plus.

Oh my god this was a frustrating book! The storyline is fantastic, but the ending was such a cliffhanger. I had NO CLUE this was a trilogy so that was a definite disappointment but I quickly bought the other two last night and just finished the third book. What an absolutely amazing story. So well written and just enough intrigue and drama to keep you from putting the book down. Best series I’ve read in a while!

Great for a day read. Enjoyed storyline. I liked Cull and Nikki characters. Nikki the ever searching but somewhat noisy reporter. Cull the always sure of himself protecter of the family. It’s always the sassy one that gets the guy in the end. Hope you enjoy.

I don’t know why, but I felt no satisfaction from the ending of the book. I felt the tension and discomfort within the home, but didn’t feel the connection between the main characters. Maybe the next book in the series will win me over.

I read the book awhile ago but did not immediately write the review. So, I had to go back and read the book again in order to write the review. The story moved along quickly, not allowing much time for character development. The main characters were strong willed individuals and there was a slight romance that developed between the two leads. The premise of the story was based on a decades old mystery surrounding the kidnapping of twins. Although the story was somewhat resolved, it was in no way a satisfying ending to the story of what had happened to the babies. After reading the story, I went to Amazon and discovered that there were two more books in the series. What??? I dislike books that require further purchases in order to learn the conclusion to the first book. Anyway, I subtracted stars for that issue. Finally, the "romantic" HEA just felt too contrived and forced. I wanted the leads to fall in love, but that version just did not feel true.

Wow. I did not know what to expect going into this book but I was completely blown away. This book has it all. Mystery, romance, and all the twists and turns to keep a reader guessing. This was a great read. There are surprises around every corner and the budding romance between the two main characters was really heartfelt, confusing and real.

This book if the first one of a series about the McGraw Kidnapping. Twins that have been missing for 25 years. Nikki St James a true crime writer and the daughter of the accused man. Nikki comes to Montana to try to find out what happened to the twins and at the same time clear her father’s name. The story is filled with suspense, and suspicious people. As a mystery it was very engaging and well written. The story does not end here it leaves the opening for more books in this series. I would recommend this book. I received this advanced copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was a bit disappointed to learn partway through this book that it was actually a trilogy! I was quite intrigued by the mystery and I will likely pick up the other books because of that. I found the romance to be totally unbelievable but cute nonetheless...just pretty unrealistic. The setting and background is quite interesting though. and the writing was fast-paced and kept me interested.

I need to find the other books that obviously go with this book. Felt like I started in the middle of a book and ended before the book was finished. I did enjoy this story, but would have liked to have read the other books first and I would have been more involved. Hopefully there is another book to finish the story.

*I received an ARC of this book from the Publisher via Netgalley*

I have never read a book by B.J. Daniels before but I have to say I am really looking forward to seeing where the rest of the McGraw family story goes and what other secrets regarding the kidnapped twins will be revealed. There wasn't anything about Dark Horse I didn't enjoy. The pace was perfect for a mystery story. This one had it all. Lies, deceit, and greed all against the backdrop of a horse ranch run by multiple generation ranchers. These McGraw men are tough and impossible not to love. Each one just as intriguing as the next. Their family having gone through multiple losses from one harrowing night that haunts them all must decide if they can trust a stranger, a lone reporter with her own connection to the story, who thinks she can help the family finally put to rest the ghosts that haunt them all. A wonderful cast of characters accompanies this quick paced mystery you won't want to put down.

Holy Creepy Old Ladies and Hot Cowboys this was a good book. The basic story is a mystery about babies that were kidnapped 25 years ago and the family they came from. Their father still mourns their loss and the remaining children are all grown into cowboys now.
A true crime author comes to town and stirs up a lot while researching her book. There are more twists and turns in this story than the ranch roads the family travels on. Oh, and maybe a little romance to boot ;-)

Nikki is a writer of unsolved cases. There is one she has always been interested in writing. It's been 25 years since the twins turned up missing. There was a man convicted of the crime but the twins were never found. Cull is not about to let his writer come in and upset the family. But it seems he doesn't have a choice. Rach member of the family have seems to have a secret. But is solvimg the case worth a broken heart?

I received a complimentary copy of this book (from Netgally) and I also purchased a copy from another vendor (Harlequin).

I love all books from B.J. Daniels and this is no different. The story is fantastic. The characters are so believable. You get a dual POV so you really get into the story. The book is one that once you start reading, you won't want to put down. There is so much intrigue going on that it keeps you guessing. I can't wait for the rest in the series. This is one that I highly recommend.

A good story with the first half really setting up the resistance to finding out the truth. Nikki is going to have her hands full with this one. The only one who craves knowing the truth is Travers McGraw, the twins father. Everyone else has given up or has something to hide. But Nikki is someone who doesn't give up and she has some personal reasons to find out the whole truth.
Cull is very clear in his resistance to Nikki coming in and digging things up again! Haven't they suffered enough? He also didn't want to give his father false hopes.

I can honestly say that I hated the second Mrs. McGraw, she was so mean. Patricia was the former nanny and she was nasty piece of work. I kept hoping she was the villain of the piece. You'll have to read the book to find out just who the villain/villains are. I kept thinking why doesn't Travis kick her butt out of the house. It sure would have brought a lot more peace to that household and to him.
The romance between Nikki and Cull is kind of low level but the attraction is there.

The story has plenty of surprises and twists and turns as Nikki digs and gets some truths. Some surprising ones. Most of the questions are answered but there are several that will continue on into another book is my guess.

Dark Horse

What's it's about:
Burdened by family secrets, this cowboy rides alone

For twenty-five years, the case of the McGraw twins kidnapping has remained unsolved. As the eldest son, Cull oversees the McGraw horse ranch, wary of prying eyes. So when true-crime writer Nikki St. James comes forward with new information, Cull can't believe his father invites her onto the compound. His family has suffered enough—he's not about to let St. James snoop and ruin them completely. But Nikki finds the eldest McGraw's protectiveness as endearing as it is aggravating. After all, this case is personal to her, too… And her secrets can set the truth free—if they don't destroy the McGraws first.

My thoughts
Secrets has a way of all ways coming out no matter how hard you try to keep them and they all ways come out ,and believe me , there's alot of secrets that can either help or brake the McGraws .And while this is a romance it's also a mystery, but I would say it's more mystery then romance , because it's a slow burning type of romance ,or at lest that's what it read as while I was reading it. So if your into this type of story , all I can say is the secrets, mystery, suspense and danger will keep you on the edge of your seat. There some characters that your like, fall in love with ,and feel sorry for and of course down right can't stand , while some will make you even feel like they need to be put over a knee and giving a whipping to. But to find out which is which you have to read the book.
With that said I want to say thinks to NetGalley for giving me a chance at find a new to me author as well as a new series I want to read more of in change for my honest opinion.
