From the queen of romantic suspense, Sandra Brown returns following, (2016) Sting, (2015) Friction, making my 2015 Top 50 Books, and (2014) Mean Streak with “prime” movie-worthy SEEING RED.

From the Pegasus Hotel in downtown Dallas, a 1992 historic event killing hundreds twenty-five years ago, to the present.

Kerra Bailey is a hungry TV journalist. She wants an interview with the legendary Major Franklin Trapper.

After all, he was a hero of the bombing of the Hotel. The 25th Anniversary of the event, Kerra is determined to land the story.

The Major became a national hero after an award-winning picture was captured of him rescuing a group of people, including an innocent 5-year-old little girl, in the aftermath of a hotel bombing.

Kerra’s life was spared. She was the little girl which is now revealed. Why is he a recluse now, after being famous for so long? Why problems between father and son?

Everyone has secrets and motives . . .

She must go through his estranged son, former ATF agent John Trapper. John wants no part of the Major.

What were the motives behind Major's heroism?

Enter a tension-filled relationship between John and Kerra. (of course, who does romantic tension) better than Brown?

Will Kerra (beautiful and savvy) and Trapper (rough, hot, sexy) wind up joining forces and risk their lives in order to expose a conspiracy and uncover the murderer of Major Trapper?

From tension, murder, conspiracy, crimes, danger, betrayal, deceit, and lots of sizzle –Brown delivers another edgy twisty mystery suspense thriller, combined with hot romantic suspense and humor.

SEEING RED will continue to keep Brown fans satisfied and longing for a movie. We can only imagine the cast of stars playing out on the big screen. I also purchased the audiobook narrated by Victor Slezak for an entertaining performance.

A special thank you to Grand Central and NetGalley for an early reading copy.

I know after reading some of the other reviews that I am in the minority here but I was not at all thrilled with this story. Normally, I love her books, immediately Sting and Mean Streak come to mind, but with this book, I had a hard time liking the main characters, keeping everyone straight took work, and the story itself felt very long. While I was disappointed with this story, I do look forward to the release of her next book!

Over the past years the Major has turned down all interviews. So Kerra will approach the Major's son, former ATF Agent John Trapper.

Trapper doesn't want anything to do with the story or his father -- since this is what ended his career. But after meeting Kerra and what she reveals it will cause him to change his mind about getting involved..

Seeing Red by Sandra Brown has a great hook to start off, with lots of questions to be answered and I am eager to learn them all.

An act of terrorism brings them together., but Kerra never could have predicted what would happen next. Trouble seems to follow her and her life is in danger once again. But why?

Kerra’s a TV reporter. Glad she’s not the bloodthirsty, story at all costs type, or is she? Does she have some principles and ethics, or is she just playing Trapper?

I love flawed characters and Trapper is a good…bad boy, a handful for Kerra. I love his cocky, arrogant attitude and his soft side when he wants to show it. He’s a Private Investigator, the suspicious sort and will be by Kerra’s side until the danger passes. And I plan on stalking every step he takes.

Romance + Suspense = Fireworks.

“You’re everything bad boy wrong, which makes you everything desirable…”

I love all the sexually charged banter in romantic suspense, the frustration and humor. Kerra and Trapper manage to supply me with plenty to smile about…and I do want to smack them upside the head occasionally.

I don’t know exactly why, but I kept putting it down, reading something else, and coming back to it. Not enough action and suspense? Read too many thrillers in a row and need a change? BUT, now that all the pieces are coming together, we have surprise after surprise and I am all in.

The bad guys list is growing and man am I getting POed. I am twisting, turning, wondering who will have to fall, and I mean drop dead, before it’s over.

I knew there would be greed, corruption, and betrayal, but I didn’t see all this coming.Thank you, Sandra, for making the last quarter of the book so nail bitingly suspenseful and unpredictable, that I couldn’t quit reading until I reached the happy ever after ending.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of Seeing Red by Sandra Brown.

Sandra Brown always does a good job at pulse increasing thrillers as steam inducing romances.

I am never disappointed with Sandra Brown books, this one kept me excited to turn the page. It starts off with an exclusive interview with a local hero and a reporter who is actually the young girl he saved during a terror attack. With them both in the hospital it is left to the hero's jilted son Trapper, to find out who tried to kill them. Trapper has always had to live in the shadow of his father, being disappointed with everything his father has missed due to his fame.

He still doesn't want him dead. He also started an investigation into what happened during the terror attack and he feels close to finding the evidence he needs but it leads to men with a lot of power, blackmail and people with a lot to lose. Lots of chemistry with Trapper and the female reporter.

Action packed, keeps you guessing, and I didn't figure out the ending until it unfolded.

I enjoyed this book quite a bit! I have been a long time fan of Sandra Brown. Before I owned a kindle, started a blog, or had a goodreads account, I read Sandra Brown. I kind of feel like we go way back. I haven't read all of her books but I usually keep up with her annual release every year and try to squeeze in books from her backlist when I get the chance. I went into this book expecting a very entertaining story and those expectations were solidly met.

Trapper and Kerra were at the center of this story. Kerra is a TV journalist out to get the big interview that nobody has been able to get for years. She decides to enlist Trapper's help in getting his father to agree to the interview. Never mind the fact that Trapper is currently not on good terms with his father. Trapper's father, Major Franklin Trapper, became a celebrity when he was able to a few people during a deadly bombing that made headlines. The interview ends up becoming the starting point for a dangerous chain of events.

I really liked Trapper and Kerra in this story. They were both really smart and able to think on their feet. Trapper was a little rough around the edges but really cared underneath it all. Kerra was able to balance the need to get the big story with what she felt was the right thing to do. They had great chemistry with each other and I loved following them as they worked to get everything figured out.

This book starts off with a bang and I was hooked right away. I think that the choice to tell some parts of the story out of order at the very start of the book was very effective. There were so many different things going on in this book and I found myself working to figure out what was really going on along with Trapper and Kerra. I was never quite sure who could really be trusted and found myself second guessing some of the characters. There were quite a few twists and turns that I did not see coming.

I would highly recommend this book to fans of romantic suspense. This book has a lot of action, a solid mystery to solve, and a great romance at its core. I can't wait to read more from Sandra Brown soon.

I received an advance reader edition of this book from Grand Central Publishing via NetGalley.

I am sucker for all things Sandra Brown and after seeing the synopsis for Seeing Red; I couldn’t wait to delve into her latest romantic suspense. I’ve read all of Brown’s books in this genre, and this is one of her best. It’s a fast paced and thrilling ride. There are plenty of interesting twists and turns, along with a slow burning romance that had me glued to my Kindle.

Kerra is an intelligent and fierce heroine, and I adored her completely. I was somewhat unsure of Trapper in the beginning, but he quickly won me over. I couldn’t get enough of the chemistry between these two. Their banter and disdain for one another creates the best sexual tension. This something Brown has always excelled at and why I continue to read her books year after year.

“Kindly leave.”
“I don’t do anything kindly.”
“That I can certify.”

Brown’s books are always entertaining, but the suspense side can be predictable. However, I was impressed with the mystery and suspense aspect in this book. I was proven wrong on a few occasions and was completely engrossed with the storyline. If you enjoy romantic suspense; this is one I’d definitely recommend!

Twenty five years ago Major Trapper was an hero when he was photographed leading survivors out of a collapsing building that had been bombed. The photo transformed him into a national hero and a constant target for interviews all of which he chose to avoid. Kerra Bailey is a television journalist and is on the trail of that exclusive interview, a story guaranteed to send her career to even greater heights. She is prepared to use any method required to get the elusive interview including an introduction from his estranged son, former ATF agent John Trapper.
John Trapper's at the age of 11 had his life changed dramatically with his father's fame and later investigated the hotel bombing whilst working at the ATF. He was convinced there were secrets to be uncovered and this led to him leaving the ATF under a cloud. Along with Kerra he again seeks answers to his questions and suspicions while looking to protect both his father and Kerra who are increasingly becoming targets.
Well paced novel, full of action and great twists.

I would like to thank Net Galley and Grand Central Publishing for supplying a copy of the new Sandra Brown novel in exchange for an honest review.

What a story. I am still flying from all the plot twists. It has been a few years since I have read a romantic suspense from Sandra Brown and what a book to start reading her again. Excellent plot, lots of good suspense and perfect romance.

Kerra was one of the survivors of a hotel bombing when she was five years old and in the years since she has become a respected, top-notch TV reporter. On the twenty fifth anniversary of the bombing she wants to interview the Major, the guy who saved her and let the world know she is the little girl in the infamous photograph. In doing so, she unknowingly upsets the person behind the bombing and his "posse". Will the Major's son, Trapper, be able to overcome the rift between him and his dad in order to save the Major and Kerra before it is too late?

The passion between Trapper and Kerra is burn up the sheets hot from the beginning. If you are not a fan of graphic sex scenes in a books then this may not be the book for you. People will be "Seeing Red" as you read, red as in the blush of your cheeks.

Hold on to your hats ladies and gentlemen as you are in for a fast paced roller coaster. Once you start you will not want it to end.

Thank you to NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for an ARC of this book in exchange for my own honest review.

Buy This Book
Of the many books Sandra Brown has written, over thirty of them are romantic suspense novels. Seeing Red will, by my count, be her thirty-second such story. Having read roughly two-thirds of those books I can tell you that this a classic Brown tale, full of her trademark action mixed with romance mixed with mystery blend. If you are a fan of romantic suspense at all, you will want to be sure and pick this up.

Kerra Bailey is experiencing the afterglow of a job well done when the unthinkable happens: a trip to the bathroom turns into a fight for her life as armed gunmen invade the home she is in. Able to escape out the window, she runs as fast as possible, the hail of bullets following her giving extra urgency to her every move. A misstep lands her in a ravine, where she receives a nasty bump on the head and blacks out.

Private investigator and former ATF agent John Trapper had been shocked – and extremely put out – when Kerra had first appeared on his doorstep six days earlier. A TV journalist, she wanted his help in getting an interview with his father, the hero of the Phoenix Hotel bombing in downtown Dallas. Major Franklin Trapper had led a handful of struggling survivors out of the smoldering remains of a catastrophe that had claimed 197 lives. An instant hero, the man had been a media darling in the decades following the tragedy but has become a recluse in the last three years. Many blamed Trapper’s implosion as an ATF agent for his father’s removing himself from the limelight.

Kerra is certain she has what it takes to pull the man affectionally known as ‘The Major’ out of retirement; she just needs Trapper to give her an introduction. After she reveals the big surprise she thinks will cause The Major to agree to the interview, Trapper reluctantly – and against his better judgment – introduces them. Then he fades from the picture, returning to his relative obscurity. When he learns that immediately after Kerra’s live interview aired his father’s home was invaded, leaving him in critical condition from a gunshot wound and Kerra banged up, Trapper heads back to the small town of Lodal. This was exactly what he had feared might happen because he knows what few people are willing to acknowledge – the real criminals behind the Phoenix Hotel bombing have never been caught. And they will stop at nothing to keep their secrets.

This story is completely and totally vintage Sandra Brown romantic suspense. Kerra is the sassy, savvy heroine this author loves to write. Successful and self-assured, she will remind you of Cat Delaney from Charade, Barrie Travis from Exclusive, and Paris Gibson from Hello, Darkness – leading ladies who sought the truth at any cost. That’s okay because Brown writes that character with such consummate skill and imbues her with such vitality and verve that you won’t care if she seems a bit familiar.

The same is true with Trapper. He is the quintessential Brown hero – aggressive, bombastic, intelligent driven and overbearing. On occasion, those heroes wind up being more alpha asses than alpha male but in this case the author keeps Trapper on the right side of the line. He might skirt it fairly often but he never quite crosses over. I enjoyed his interactions with the fiery Kerra a lot but be warned, there are several scenes where Trapper’s flirting is more contentious and abrasive than what appears in many contemporary novels today. Brown heroes only give lip service to PC behavior; there’s still a lot of the old-style alpha from the 80s and 90s romances in them.

The action is fast paced and the suspense portion of the tale absolutely intriguing. You know something big and odd happened and figuring out what it is/was will consume your attention. The denouement is a tad bit hokey but since that happens at the end it doesn’t have an impact on the bulk of the story. And I stand behind the term ‘tad’; you won’t get to the end and be thoroughly disappointed, although you might roll your eyes a bit.

Everything fans love about Sandra Brown is in full force in Seeing Red, and heer regular cadre of readers will be delighted by this latest offering. People unfamiliar with her work who enjoy romantic suspense novels should definitely give this tale a try – you won’t be disappointed.

Pretty typical fare from the always consistent Sandra Brown. If you have patrons looking for steamy, sexy suspense, then she is the writer to recommend. This one didn't seem quite as sharply written as her last few titles, but did feature an interesting and twisty plot. The two main characters enjoy a significant physical attraction, but the back and forth sniping, and lack of trust, makes them seem less than ideally suited. All-in-all, a quick and enjoyable read, if not Brown's best.

I always enjoy reading Sandra Brown’s romantic suspenses. Having said that, this was not one of my favorites.

While the physical attraction between Kerra and Trapper is quite steamy, there wasn’t a lot of talking or romance. I didn’t feel a connection between the two. I guessed the “evil genius” behind it all early on. That was truly disappointing for me. There are a couple of interesting twists in this story to keep you going, but not any edge of your seat suspense. I was not impressed with the plot line.

John Trapper is a bitter, angry, asshole of an adult with a go screw yourself attitude. He was good at his job, and his character was consistent throughout the book, but not likeable.

I didn’t get attached or involved in any of the characters. While an okay read, not something I would read a second time.

If you like suspense with your romance, this is a book for you. Sandra Brown has a great story and interesting characters, this one is hard to put down!

i've been reading sandra brown since i was in college and her suspense stories are generally filled with just enough terror and the perfect amount of sexiness. in seeing red, major trapper is a national hero. beloved and admired by one and all. but the bombing he helped save people from still has secrets that haven't been revealed.

kerra bailey, the young girl in his arms in an iconic photograph of the event—and now a news reporter at a dallas-based television station—is one of those secrets. the true perpetrators of the crime are the other secret—a secret major trapper's son, john, suspects will put his father's life in danger.
when the major is shot at his front door the evening his interview with kerra airs, everything goes haywire. kerra was in the house and barely escapes with her life.

from that moment john, who goes by trapper, is on the case. he knows that whatever is happening now has links back to the bombing that put kerra and the major in each other's orbit. and he's not going to rest until the truth has come to light. kerra and trapper have this insane chemistry that brings them closer even as the situation intensifies.

in the end this is a well written, enjoyable romantic suspense novel. pretty much what i expected when i requested it. i have no regrets.

Do you enjoy romance novels? How about mysteries? This book has both.
There is a constant switch between the two.
It does lean more to the romance side. If you are a Sandra Brown fan this book will not disappoint.

Intriguing mystery/suspense in this contemporary romance! A hotel blown up twenty five years ago, killing hundreds, shook the nation. Its effects are still felt by The Major, Trapper and a host of others. Parents died, new families evolved, a hero was born.
Shady dealings, human frailty and a raw tenacity for justice equals a page turning drama with characters to love and hate.
4 1/2 stars.

This is a romantic suspense story and like most of Sandra Brown books, it has more twist than you can imagine. The story was wonderful, the suspense kept you wondering what was going to happen next and the plot twist were brilliant. It was fast paced and well written, you could really empathize with the characters. Another great story by a favorite author of mine. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys suspense with a little romance mixed in.
