Each Little Lie is the first book I've read of Bale's, but it won't be the last. This psychological thriller will keep you guessing from start to finish!

I received an advance reading copy of this book courtesy of Bookouture via Netgalley.

Single mother Jen Cornish is just trying to hold things together for the sake of her seven-year-old son Charlie. Until the day when she does an impulsive good deed to help a neighbour, setting off a terrifying chain of events that quickly spirals out of control…

When she is arrested for a crime she didn’t commit, Jen quickly starts to wonder if someone is playing a cruel game with her - or is she losing her mind?

Desperate to clear her name with the police, she must first untangle a chilling web of lies. But someone is watching her every move – and it isn’t just Jen who is in danger.

A fast paced thriller and would make a great tv drama adaptation.

I want to thank Bookouture for providing me a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

This was actually the first book I have read by this author and I ended up really enjoying it. The premise of this story is pretty unrealistic for most people but honestly who really knows how they will react in a similar situations until they are faced with the choice. Also since this is a work of fiction it doesn't really bother me especially since Bale was able to make it come across as believable.

Most of this book is told from Jens POV which I really enjoyed. You get a few chapters here and there from some other perspectives which at first caught me off guard because I was reading from Jens POV and then all of a sudden like 8 chapters in it was something else altogether and it was like I was reading 2 different stories but luckily it all came together and made since. By far I enjoyed reading from Jens POV the most.

Jen is a single parent and she's such a strong fierce female character and all around good person which I give Bale credit for writing a great female lead character. One thing that seemed a little out of character for Jen was how fast she started doubting herself. It actually kind of got on my nerves because it was like every time she would see something she would second guess herself and be like maybe I didn't actually see it and I am losing my mind. I understand what she was going through could make anyone go a little crazy but this happened right from the get go.

Pretty much every man in this novel except for Charlie and Jens dad are douche bags of some sort. The only male character who sort of redeemed himself was Charlie's dad Freddie but I still feel like he needs to grow a pair. There was one other character who is actually just a side character but he stood out to me because he was an amputee. There wasn't really much to his character but I loved the small inclusion of an amputee because I myself am and amputee if you didn't know.

One other thing I am not entirely sure how I feel about it is how it ended. The only thing I will say is that I was left feeling like there wasn't any justice really. After reading the authors note I completely understand but I really wanted to see a particular character get what was coming to them.

This is a slow burn mystery/thriller that is suspenseful and full of twists that kept me hooked from the very beginning and on the edge of my seat with anticipation and I would definitely recommend you give this book a try if it interests you.

I only made it about 65% through before I called it quits. I found this book to be a jumbled unorganized mess. I was completely uninterested in what happened to the main character Jen since I felt no connection to her.

Thank you netgalley for the copy

This was such a great read. The writing is so good it’s completely unobtrusive (unlike the last book I read that had such fanciful prose it just made me think: Oh just shut up and go and write a poem, I’m in the middle of a story here). The characters are very cleverly created, too; real flesh-and-blood people you care about/are scared of. The story gets a little incredible at times, but I like that – it’s why I read fiction. The Bourne series or James Bond would be very mundane, if it were not for a glorious bit of incredible thrown in.

The pace of the plot is unrelenting and had me reading way past my normal lights out time. It was exciting, twisty, and very very entertaining. I shall be looking out for this author’s next book with baited breath - it really was that good.

What a great read! The book started off innocently, with Jen doing her good deed, but as the saying goes - no good deed goes unpunished. The book was well written, and I couldn't wait to see where Jen's pursuit of the truth leads to. Well done, recommended.

DNF. I think I have become a stickler for realism in novels. I may have to read a fantasy novel or two to get over this. The "good dead" this mother did is the catalyst, but so unrealistic. I couldn't handle it, at least not right now. I did give it my 30 pages or 3 chapters, but I couldn't shake it.

I will try to give this novel another try once I am out of this reality funk. I will update this review once I do.

I received a copy of this novel from the publisher and author, through NetGalley, in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Wow, wow, Wowzers. What a book. What a great read that was.
Firstly i'm going to start with asking the author, what the hell he thinks he's doing to me?
In See how they run he had me paranoid about taking in any parcels for neighbours. In this book i'm convinced that I should not do any good turns and shouldn't attempt to return anything I find to its owner.

This was certainly a fasten your seatbelt kind of ride, I got so engrossed in this story I had to read on because I NEEDED to know who was doing what. more to the point I needed to know why they were doing it. This was very cleverly woven, the story come together brilliantly. An addictive read.

Jen Cornish is a single mother to her seven-year-old son Charlie.
On her way to work one morning she notices a man has dropped something, being the good samaritan she is Jen tries to get the item returned to the rightful owner. Doing so sets off a terrifying chain of events that quickly spirals out of control… and this is where the book becomes addictive. Jen finds herself in a whole heap of trouble, can she get out it, and can she prove she was just trying to help someone. Jen needs to start learning who can and who can't be trusted.
A brilliant nail biting read.

A roller coaster, heart-pounding read. This was a very tense story that I found difficult to put down. However, I found the story line a little far fetched and the characters were one-dimensional and not as well develop as I would've liked.

Each Little Lie

Having read other books by Tom Bale, I was eager to read this new offering; he never fails to entertain me.

Tom Bale’s books always have that ‘je ne sais pas’ that just draws you in so you can’t put it down till you’ve finished! This is a thriller that’s full of suspense, manipulation, deceit and revelations. Definitely recommended. Five stars from purplebookstand.

Suspend your beliefs and dig right into this crazy thriller. It's really a slow burn suspense type novel that may be a little bit out there but will do you well if you like that character driven novel.

We all have made some interesting choices in our lives, I'm sure. So crazy or not, you can absolutely relate to Jen and her son. And also, never let yourself into a house while trying to return keys - that's what mailboxes are for....

Every Little Lie is an intriguing psychological thriller with a strong female protagonist who will do anything for her little boy. Full of twists from the beginning and I look forward to reading more books by this author.

It has been a while since i read a thriller that didn't quite cut it for me, this one has sat on my shelf for a while and i decided it was time i got stuck in, with a vague synopsis it could only go one of two ways for me.

Single mother Jen is trying to get through day to day the best she can whilst supporting her seven year old son. She is a good person and only wants to give her son a good role model and an honest upbringing. Someone else though has other ideas.

When one day Jen attempts to do a good deed it comes as a total surprise when she is arrested for a crime that she most certainly did not commit. It sets off an unrealistic chain of events. Events that lead Jen all over the place and no clue who to trust.

I had such high hopes for this book but i was left disappointed with a few things, things that massively didn't work for me. Firstly, the pacing of the narrative - it seemed to get to the point quickly but then the ending seemed to take forever to come, and i feel like we went around the block 3 or 4 times until we got it. I also found the situation slightly ridiculous and didn't work for me, i suppose if i was more familiar with the topic it might of appealed more.

I liked Jen as a character and i often found myself frustrated on her behalf and i just wanted answers, i felt she was treated right and i just rooted for her all along, she just seemed to attract bad luck. This is the first read of Toms for me, and whilst it wasn't for me, i would happily read more by him just because it had all the chances to be brilliant and i do believe others would find it so.
