A sinfully enjoyable read. The characters are well written and the storyline was developed. And don't be surprised if you're left fanning yourself while reading it...

Swoony book boyfriend alert! Gage is hot, successful and a single dad. Phoenix is a perfect match for him – smart, independent, sassy and always up for a challenge. They both have been burned in the past. Gage is a looking for “bed them and leave them” type of fun. Phoenix is not impress with his manwh*re habits. The more time Gage spend with Phoenix, everything started to get confusing. Neither can get the other off each other minds. Can they both let go of the past and fine HEA? Love the banters, the chemistry. Fun, sexy, beautifully written.

I wanted to like this book but found that I really didn't like or connect with either character. It was difficult for me to relate in any way to them and I had a hard time finding any romance in this book. I have no issues with MC books, alpha-males or unconventional ways of showing love, but this one just lacked a spark for me. I really have liked other books by this author so I was disappointed that this one just didn't work for me.

Phoenix is just out of College and working as a bartender and waitress for the summer while she decides if she wants to work or go back to school. Gage walks into the bar, where she works, to meet up with a woman for a hook-up. But Phoenix gives Gage snide remarks and ends up breaking his “date”. A few days later, Phoenix finds out that Gage is her landlord. There is an intense chemistry between them that cannot be denied. But will they open their hearts to each other so their relationship can be more than just lust for each other?

This is a steamy romance between a strong alpha male (who is a little o er the top) and a small but courageous woman. You get a glimpse into Garret and Grayson’s stories and I can’t wait to read them.

Gage is a hottie. I didn't realize at first that this was a spin off. Now I need to go back to read what I missed.

A story that has a lot of things going on. First you have Gage Falcon who is part owner of a company that he has helped turn around into a multimillion dollar business. He has some anger but you are made aware of the reasons why as the story goes along. The reasons deal with ex-wife, and mother whom both knew for years that boy he had been raising was not his son. Both of them are not the nicest people and when Gage meets and falls for Phoenix Star who is new in town and also a bartender. The closer that they become the meaner his ex, and mother become to her. Most of this happens when he is not around, and Phoenix does a good job of holding her own. The ex though really goes after her when the boy actually likes Phoenix more than his own mother. As things heat up between Gage and her he takes off early one morning only leaving a text on her phone, not wanting to wake her. Finally after a month goes by and she finds out where he is at and drives to New York. She spends a few days with him and then one morning when he wakes up she is gone and left him a text saying, “had to go you were sleeping did not want to wake you”. Then first time he has had anyone especially a woman who gave it back to him and that is exactly what he needed and he took his butt home to see if he could make it work with her. A good book with good characters, and a good story.

Gage Falcon's life is turned upside down. When backed against a wall, he does what men with 'Steel' convictions do...take control.

Fight. Strength.

Phoenix Star knows it's going to take everything inside her to be who she is destined to be. Fresh out of college and knowing she can't go home and get where she wants to get, she takes the path less traveled.

Redefining life sends them both down a long dirt road to...become.

What happens when two people starting over in life and needing to find some control come face to face?

So, this book was a great read for me for 2 reasons...well, maybe several!!
1. There isn't a lot of angst which is what I prefer in my books - NO DRAMA!!
2. A sexy hero who is outspoken and alpha...just does it for me!
3. There's family drama, but THEN there's family DRAMA...this had the first.
4. I loved Phoenix in this book - I want to be her when I grow up...Can I get me some Gage?

This book was well-written, had an awesome plot, it's going to be part of a series (which I adore) and I love me some Alphaness! Once again MJ did a great job on this book!!

I was given an ARC from the publisher/author/NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own and do not reflect anyone else's.

Gage Falcon is a dirty talking, no holds barred alpha male. He says what he thinks and gets what he wants.Physically, he is big and strong with tattoos. He also runs a million dollar construction company. He will get down and dirty with his worker and help train them the way he wants them to work. Phoenix Star is a petite, rough around the edges, man hating female. She can talk trash and hold her own with anyone. She is a recent psychology graduate and is planning to further her education. She is working two jobs. When they meet it is both comical and kind of hot. Gage's life is a mess and throughout the story it gets messier. Phoenix keep him grounded and help soothe his anger. I was so angry with the ex and his mother, I almost did not finish reading. I knew he would get a HEA so I powered through. It was worth it. I loved both of these characters. Some of the side characters will make you scream in frustration. Good writing and a good story.

Hammered is a sexy story with a rough around the edges alpha and a feisty, sweet heroine. First off, I have to say that I LOVE that Phoenix is Asian. It's not every day that romances feature Asian heroines, so it's a treat that I get to read about someone of my own race in a romance. Secondly, I love that she's just plain awesome, sweet, funny and feisty AF! She's more than equal to Gage, the dirty talking, rough around the edges man she falls in love with.

I also have to say that as much as I enjoyed seeing Gage and Phoenix fall, and all the chemistry that they shared, I kind of felt like Phoenix got the short end of the stick. Not that I don't feel Gage really loved her, but, she had to deal with all the s*** he and his family caused, and yet, was he really there for her? I didn't really feel as if he was. He was bossy and demanding of her, demanding she do this, not do that, tell him this, tell him that, but yet, she didn't get the same respect from him. It was as if he was 95% of the equation and she only 5%, and that balance is, well, not balanced. I wanted more for her emotionally, and I don't feel she got it. Perhaps in the coming books in this series, Gage and Phoenix will have mentions and their relationship might have more of a balance to it.

Excellent book!! Loved this story and all of its characters. Gage is a straight forward filthy speaking man that takes no shit. Phoenix is a short smart ass woman who can hold her own. They are a perfect match for each other. There's enough sex and drama to keep you entertained the whole time.

Divorce. Divide.

Gage and Phoenix are two characters that find it difficult to be in a relationship, but upon meeting each other the two have a chemistry like no other. Although Gage comes off as cocky, Phoenix is there to put him in his place. Loved the connection that Phoenix had with those in Gage's family especially Mags and Brand. This was a great read and I look forward to reading even more by this author. Can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series.

LOVE the cover! Gorgeous! The red is the perfect color for this image!

Gage knows how to pull out the big guns with his retorts, “sweetheart, there is no way in heck you could handle my bone.” Gage is just a big ball of sunshine, “you want flowers and bul*****, or you want to come twenty times in three days?” I don’t answer. “Am I gonna get a darn picture, or do I have to effing jerk-off to the same goddarn one every day?” I really enjoyed this book, I loved Gage and his naughty mouth!

Absolutely wonderful! I loved this story. You have a sexy alpha single Dad and a spunky man eater bartender. Gage and Phoenix are great characters who will immediately find a place in your heart. MJ Fields really knows how to write ALPHA males and she delivers once again with Gage Falcon. He had a deliciously dirty mouth and is a man who knows how to deliver on everything he promises. However, he is far more multi faceted than we first see and boy he has a soft side to him that will melt the coldest of hearts. For every alpha, there is the girl that slays him and Phoenix is the great match for him with her steely and sassy nature. They have some real great banter and have amazing chemistry. I really enjoyed this book.

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I will leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

OMG this guy is just right in every way! Great dad, hard worker, provider, protector, sexy hot, no lies, no bull, straight forward kind of guy and responsible. I could go on and on... But the best part is that Phoenix gives as good as she takes. She is strong and the chemistry between them is of the charts. This is a great story with surprises and a lot of love between family composed of people that is not blood related. This book will have you entertained to the point you wont want to put it down and you will want to check what came before and after.

***3 "You good?" stars***

"Don't fight the fall..."

This wasn't my first book by Mrs. Fields and it won't be my last... because I'm enjoying her stories!!!
"Hammered" was a good reading, but it didn't rock my world, as "The truth about love" duet did!!!
It was a nice story but not something that i haven't read before!!!
Yep, there was a sassy heroine, an alpha male and some serious secrets that made the story enjoyable, but that's it!!!!

Phoenix was a fierce and sassy girl and i liked how impulsive she was...
She had a bad relationship before and she didn't want any man to complicate her life...
She was trying to put her life in order since she had just finished college...
The last thing she needed was Gage Falcon to turn her life upside down...

Gage was the classical alpha male guy....
He was used to have everything he wanted the time that he wanted, and Phoenix was making his life difficult...
Gage had some serious problems with his ex wife and his precious little boy.... And not only that, the things are getting more and more complicated in his life... Family, business and Phoenix are messing with his heart and mind...

Their relationship was interesting, messy and fierce, but there were many problems that were standing between them...
Will they be able to fight all those shits that are coming on their way???

Except Gage and Phoenix, there were many interesting characters inside this book... and I'm really curious about the other two brothers.... especially Garrett.... I think that i need to read his story because i have so many questions about him and julianna!!!
Even though that i hated her, because of the nasty game that she played upon Gage's back!!!

This is the perfect book if you like your heroes possessive, dirty talking, protective and a little on the damaged side. The heroine is petite but one tough cookie. She’s not afraid to step into a bar fight or take on this heroes villains.

There is not a lot of angst between this couple, but there is plenty regarding his family. There is most definitely other woman drama but it’s made clear from the very beginning that Gage has no desire for her. The sex is out of this world steamy with a few things you don’t find frequently in romance – and nothing in the BDSM stratosphere. While I wasn’t a fan of Gage in the beginning – a little too vulgar and aggressive without the proper motivation – I did enjoy him and Phoenix together.

ARC provided through Netgalley

Dual POV
Safe
Potential trigger – a mention that the hero’s brother does drugs

5 Stars

The story has laughs, secrets, naughty fun, suspense, and heartbreak. I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed well and I was kept interested.

If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first:
Falcon's Landing (Steel Country 0.5)

This is Phoenix and Gage’s story. Gage meets Phoenix one night while at a bar. They banter back and forth. He loses his date and is mad that he keeps thinking about Phoenix. Phoenix is helping a friend by working at her bar while she figures out what she is planning for the future. No matter what she does she can’t shake erotic images of Gage from her mind. After seeing each other all around town and figuring out she is renting a cabin on his land they come up with a plan. Will secrets they are both holding come out and ruin everything? Or will they be able to work around all the obstacles they both have in order to have a future?

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.

I've never read anything by this author before, but I'm certainly questioning why now! Hammered was an amazing book that I devoured in a day. I loved the pace, the characters & the alpha that is Gage! I don't want to go into the story because regardless of what people say about the books that they review, I personally think a book should be read going in blind. This one should be enjoyed by all, no matter what others are saying! Thank you for an early copy.

These characters are so complex and the situations they put themselves in are equal complex. This book is filled with family drama and a lot of running away. Mags is the glue that holds everything and everyone together. The ending sucked! It was building up to be something so special and it was awful!! Just awful!

This is a Steel series spin-off but can be read as a standalone. If you liked the Steel family series, you'll love Hammered -- another strong alpha man and a strong female lead. If you love steamy, sexy, strong controlling alpha's, you'll love this read.
