With two mysteries going on during this book there is lots of actions that leaves you up later than you should. The ending leaves you with a feeling that the story isn't that far fetched considering advances in technology it could happen. Overall a good read.

Wow what a book! Catherine tells a tale of mystery, murder and new love in addition to dedicated love and loyalty between Agent Dillon Savich and his wife Agent Sherlock. So much happening all at once and the team splits up to work their various cases. Soon they realize the baby kidnapping, mysterious man who burst into a.strangers house and is now in a coma, a bank robbery, and a Russian who helps a murderer escape all have ties. But how and why is the question. Catherine tells a story that seamlessly blends plots without you getting lost and wondering who is who. You want the answers as much as Savich and Sherlock do. With lots of surprising twists you won't know all the answers till the very last page. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review, I always give an honest review good or bad but I can't find any bad in this well written book that will keep you thinking long after you are finished reading it.

Political intrigue surrounds a murder and the framing of the son of the president’s right-hand man, and the infamous Russians are involved. The political intrigue, along with the search for the fountain of youth, makes this story hard to put down.

A man who appears to be off his rocker forces his way into the house of Kara Moody, a young pregnant woman. He tells her that he is going to save her, that he won’t let them take her. This woman is understandably scared and doesn’t have a clue what this crazy man is talking about. Not only is she afraid for her life, but she also fears for the life of her unborn child. Savich, called by one of this young woman’s neighbors, comes to the rescue. Once the baby is born, he is kidnapped from the hospital. Did the crazy man know what he was talking about?

No more information can be obtained from this man though; he has fallen into a coma. Doctors find a mysterious drug in his blood that they are unable to identify.

Meanwhile, Manta Ray, a convicted bank robber, escapes from his handlers (Federal Marshals) while in transport to a federal penitentiary. Manta Ray and another man are spotted heading into the Daniel Boone National Forest around McKee, Kentucky—places that I live close to.

Enigma, another installment in Coulter’s FBI Thriller series, was anything but a disappointment. The characters are well-developed and easy to like (or hate). Savitch and Sherlock are familiar to me now from previous books in this series I've read, but their exciting and unpredictable lives never fail to keep me on the edge of my seat.

I was sent a copy of this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Fans of television shows like Major Crimes and Criminal Minds would love this book.

I absolutely love Catherine Coulter and her FBI Thriller series! Savich and Sherlock are two of my favorite characters and I love that new characters are thrown in to the mix for each book (along with some old favorites as well!). Enigma was a suspenseful page turner that was difficult to put down with the multiple storylines being worked by different teams simultaneously, it was a wonderfully crafted book bring together all the pieces of the puzzle!

It is a classic Ms Coulter book book i.e. well written, fast paced, mixing crime, thrill and in this case genome science.
It is a very fast read, by the pool, no thinking type of book.
The reader is following two main stories unravelling simultaneously. On one hand we have a baby abduction and on the other a psychopath on the loose. Add a comatose John Doe, a mentally dying genius, a rotten lawyer, a mystery non-existant Russian lady and a high influential politician.
The stories appears to be unrelated but… off course, by some twisted ways they all are.

That being said I personally did not find it as satisfying as other thriller books.
I felt pulled in all direction while able to identify the plot way before the end of the book and that ruined it for me.
I got a little tired of the special agents personal ( Savich and Sherlock) and sexual (Cam and Jack) third level talks.
I wasn’t to keen on some ‘hook ups ‘ happening and wrapping everything together nicely.

The story is tightly related to factual political events, relaiting to the USA/Russia relationsgip and Obama’s retaliation measured towards Russia.
It is also closely related to anti-aging scientific research that recently came out in the news.
I could totally relate to the story line and the factual references but I do not believe the book will age well when the next generation reads it and tried to make sense of it. Maybe they will read it as a pure fictual book then ?

Thank You to Ms Coulter and Gallery Books for the ARC of this book, I am very grateful.

This captivating, mysterious, thriller grabs you at page one and doesn't let go. With two storylines going on simultaneously there's never a dull moment. Married FBI agents Savich and Sherlock become involved in a kidnapping case that turns out to be so much more than a simple kidnapping. Former special forces soldier Jack Cabot and Agent Cam Wittier come into the story on a manhunt of an escaped prisoner. Danger, action, suspense, mystery, intrigue, and twists and turns keeps you guessing and turning the page. Fantastic read!

This is just another AMAZING book in the Sherlock and Savich series! It starts off with a hostage situation, transforms into a baby snatching and winds up with a happily ever after! Classic Coulter, and it was fantastic!

This one left me in a dilemma. We have two stories in one book. First we have Sherlock and Savich together...sort of...Savich saves the pregnant neighbor and then the baby is kidnapped. The one who knows what is going on is in a coma. In the parallel story is Special Agent Cam Wittier and Jack Cabot chasing the Russian mob and an escaped killer. The stories run parallel and throughout the book until they are wrapped up suddenly at the end. Of course, being a Coulter book this is well written but there is the missing heat between Savich and Sherlock we have come to love or at least I have. I miss it. I hope it comes back in the future. This, as with all of these, can be read as a standalone.

First, I would like to express my thanks to Gallery Books, NetGalley and the author who provided a digital copy in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.
Wow. What an interesting book Catherine Coulter has written in her 21st FBI thriller, Enigma. I thoroughly enjoyed this book in which Coulter took the reader deeper in thought and depth than usual. There were two storylines going on to create one plot and a great story with ethical questions leading to an exciting ending. Some are aware that I am a Coulter fan, and she started out extremely hot with some excellent FBI thrillers that are hard to beat. Yet, Coulter still cranks them out like very few authors can.
FBI agents Dillon Savich and Lacey Sherlock are back again with agent Cam Wittier (gotta love the name if nothing else) and Special Forces agent Jack Cabot in a fast-paced thriller with international implications. Enigma begins with a hostage stand-off in which a crazy man is holding a pregnant Kara Moody. Savich comes in the back door and ends the stand-off and the crazy man, “John Doe”, is left in a coma. The agents must solve this case, but what to do and where to go?
Do we have the right of eternal youth? Do we have the right to suddenly become 15 years younger than we really are? Do we have the right to test other humans in any means necessary in order to advance science and, thus society? These are all questions that will mill through the reader’s head. Lister Maddox has finally achieved his near perfection with “John Doe” and now he has literally been snatched from his hands. He was the near-perfect specimen. But, is there anybody else out there? Ahh …
Cam and Jack are chasing an international killer through Daniel Boone Forest. Alas, the criminal escapes. Among his suspected victims are the President’s Chief of Staff’s only son’s girlfriend, Mia Prevost. (Boy, try saying that last sentence real fast 10 times in a row) What is the meaning of this killing-a very important case that needs to be solved urgently? Who is aiding this killer? Usually, the motive soon becomes apparent in a crime of this magnitude, but, in this case, it is somewhat of a quandary.
Enigma is a great read IMHO, and I would not hesitate to recommend it to readers of thillers or police procedurals. Coulter has done a masterful job of writing and setting up a wonderful thriller with very interesting characters. Moreover, Coulter is a very credible writer and puts to paper only that which furthers the story in a positive way IMHO, again. For example, there is no unnecessary blood and gore, graphic sexual scenes, or hands falling off the bad guy on page 227 and then magically, for the first time, re-attaching. If this is your kind of a thriller, then I would suggest checking out Catherine Coulter and Enigma. An easy 4.4, so I wil give it a 4-star.

Ms. Coulter is one amazing writer! The entire time I was left guessing. She has a way of building up the suspense and crafting one helluva story. I haven't followed the series consistently but this is good as a standalone. Kara Moody is one of the characters at the focal point of this one, and the race is on to find her baby. I thought this was a page-turner and couldn't wait to get to the end.

I always enjoy this series. I read it over Thanksgiving, and it was a nice break from reality. A bit creepy, but that has been the case in the last several of her books in the FBI series.

Once again, Catherine Coulter has created an edge-of-your-seat action/thriller book in her FBI Thriller series. Featuring well loved characters, the husband and wife team jump into the fray seeking a stolen baby and preventing more grievous crimes. It is easy to see why Catherine Coulter's books regularly receive 5 star ratings and are hard to find at the library. She has a knack for dragging you into the story and not letting go. Full Disclosure: I was allowed to read a copy of this book for free as a member of NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review. The opinions I have expressed are my own and I was not influenced to give a positive review.

When you hear the word mortality what do you think?-"Most everything we human beings value, everything we call wisdom and experience, is a consequence of our being mortal and knowing it. We are granted a finite number of years and everything we strive for is shaped by the inevitable fact of death.

With two plots going on, this FBI thriller is a game of cat of mouse. On one end, an Irish thug has broken out of prison and the FBI must determine who helped him and why. A race against time and a race against more innocent lives being lost.

The 2nd plot is a crazed man breaking into a young woman's home Kara Moody who is expecting any moment. The FBI comes in and subdues the John Doe and the John Doe goes into coma. Before that, the young man gives Kara a foreboding warning and when her baby is taken from the hospital, the FBI digs deeper to find the truth of the Enigma 2.

Their are strengths and weakness for me on this one. The strength being digging up the facts that lead to why. The surveillance and how it all tied together. However, the weakness is the character development. Very one dimensional but still an enjoyable read.

A Special Thank You to Gallery and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
