This was just too young for me! Think it would've been great if I was reading it to a kid, though, but I definitely wasn't the right audience.

An amazingly weird and wonderful tale of what happens when a group of children are locked into a fantastical library for the night as part of a prize. It is all about teamwork and friendship with a bit of magic thrown in. There are two other books in this series, one of which is just about to be published. They are well worth looking out for.

I really enjoyed reading this book, it was a fun, quick easy read. I think a lot of children will enjoy this book, and that it will show them that reading can open doors - quite literally!

I really wish this book had been written about twenty years ago. I would have loved to have had the opportunity to read this book when I was in primary school or early high school. It's just such a great story about libraries and books and what makes both so special. Add to that friendship, challenge, mystery, an underdog trying to defeat the rich kid and you've got an engaging first book in the Lemoncello series.
The book is funny, heartwarming and engaging. I flew through the chapters eager to find out the next challenge (and add another title to my TBR) and see how the characters would react. The 12 kids who begin the challenge are quickly whittled down to a hardcore few that are a varied and interesting bunch. Led by Kyle they are determined not to give up. Whilst I was sure their resilience would pay-off, it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book. A great story that I would recommend to any MG readers.

Kyle Keeley loves games, especially Mr Lemoncello’s games, and he will do what ever it takes to win. So, when his teacher tells his class that the extra credit essay is to win one of 12 places to enter the games master’s new library in Alexandriaville, he has to be one of them. Having written the best essay he has ever written, after the deadline, Kyle can only hope Mr Lemoncello will pick him…

Once the 12 lucky children are in the Library, they get to explore for the night. When the doors remain locked the following morning, the real game begins. The first to escape from the Library will win the prize of all prizes. It’s “the Hunger Games, without the bows and arrows.” Can any of the children puzzle their way out of the Library in time?

A celebration of libraries, books, and puzzles, Escape From Mr Lemoncello's Library is a fantastical story where the characters who show resilience and respect reap the rewards of following Mr Lemoncello's motto “knowledge not shared remains unknown”. With classic and contemporary book titles woven throughout and a brilliant use of the Dewey decimal system, there are puzzles galore to solve as you read. Be warned, once opened, you have as much chance of escaping this book as Team Kyle has of winning, if you believe Team Charles…

Great for fans of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Jumangi and Zathura.
