Shauna’s husband, Jack, died after a terrible climbing accident. She is trying to find her way as a single mom and a business owner. Zach was Jack’s best friend and the person he was with during his climbing accident. Shauna has blamed Zach for encouraging Jack to go on that climb and holds a grudge against him. She has avoided him for a while now. Set in a beautiful town in Washington State among fields of lavender, secrets begin to surface from Shauna’s childhood that put her and everyone she loves in danger.
I flew through this book. What a page turner! It had the perfect amount of suspense, intrigue, secrets as well as a beautiful love story. I’m excited to read the other books in the series.

This book took me a LONG time to get into, and to get through- I just didn’t connect with it. But, I did finally get into the story, read it, and hated the ending. I am left with way more questions than answers, and the author’s way of wrapping things up seems to be that God is taking care of us. I am not sure I could just ride off into the sunset as quickly as Shauna seems to,

This is a trademark Colleen Coble with her true and tried formula of a romantic suspense, where a young mother Shauna and a man she has thought being guilty of a death of her husband must fight to reveal the mystery behind several deaths.
I wish that Ms Coble could enter some new literary waters with her plotting, to be honest. Yet I find her earnest wish to encourage her readers that God always has a plan for me and that even evil can be good being a truly valuable thought.

I loved the characters and the storyline development of this book. It was absolutely one of my favorites so far and I can't wait to delve in to the next one that this author writes. The storyline was simple, enjoyable, and entertaining.

Lately I have been feeling that there is very little that is new with the romantic suspense genre. They begin to read like all the same story after a while.

I was unable to get into this book even though I tried several times. I enjoyed the author's last title but this one just did not do it for me. One of my pet peeves is when a main character does a total about-turn with the way he or she treats another character and there is no explanation. It happened here and I'm afraid it just discouraged me from continuing with the story.

This was the first book by Colleen Coble that I’ve read and it won’t be my last! I enjoyed the characters and the story. The story was suspenseful and interesting, one of those one sitting hard to put down reads. Shauna is trying to keep her life moving on with her young son now that her husband died. Her partner is killed in an explosion at his house. But he told Shauna something before he died and he gave her something. Shauna is forced to accept help from her late husband’s best friend. The story becomes more and more suspenseful as more of the truth is revealed. But the identity of the person behind everything is kept well hidden until the very end.

I think I need to be done reading Coble's books. I didn't connect with any of the characters and the Christian aspects are a bit less than biblical in my opinion.

I enjoy Colleen Coble's stories, and this latest one is the start of a great new series! It is a fast-paced, suspenseful mystery with a satisfying romance that I have come to appreciate about Coble's writing.

I recommend this novel and thank the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC for this, my honest review.

It was a pleasant read, would consider it as a cozy. Location is great. Mediocre characters, yet maintained an intriguing suspenseful storyline. The author starts the murders quite strong but then they are dulled down. But it is continually moving along, revealing small segments along the way, which can at times become very frustrating. This makes the book way longer than it needed to be, that’s really my only complaint. Chapters wasted on the budding romance which is lovely and the author doesn’t make it into some disgusting event but lovingly brings Shauna and Zach together. It’s about forgiveness which we are in great need of in society today. That it’s always a bonus. I will definitely be reading the next book.

The death of Shauna McDade's husband, Jack, in a rock climbing accident, caused a rift between Jack's best friend, Zach Morrison, and Jack's whole family. Shauna hasn't spoken to Zach in the year since the accident, and Zach has ramped up his adventure-seeking to dangerous levels. When she asks him to step in and take her son, Alex, on the church's father-son hike, he starts to have hope. Those hopes are dashed when she makes certain he knows that she's only asking because Alex begged her to. She hates trusting him with the life of her son.

When Shauna's business partner's house explodes moments after he gave her a box to deliver, she is certain he's been murdered. She recognized the sound of a bomb going off from her days with the Navy. Could the box have anything to do with it? When the box is opened and she recognizes her own deceased mother's necklace inside, she begins to wonder how all of this ties in with her mother's death, and the disappearance of her two younger siblings. Her father is so drunk most of the time that he couldn't possibly know. Or could he?

Shauna's only hope to protect herself and her son appears to be moving into Zach's home until the killer is caught. As she and Zach follow every small clue, can they find those who want her dead before they find her? How long can they work together before Shauna sees that Zach's guilt is misplaced, and that her anger with him is also misplaced? His willingness to step into harm's way for her and her son goes a long way toward mending the rift between them, but how can they evade a danger they cannot see, and one that's closer than they think?

Colleen Coble's romantic suspense books have long been favorites of mine. It seldom fails that whoever I have picked as the "bad guy" may be bad, but they're not the key to safety for the heroine and hero. This book kept me guessing until the very end, which I call a win in the suspense genre.

Suspense lovers will definitely enjoy this book, and the romance that develops between Shauna and Zach is pretty sweet as well.

Enjoyed, look forward to more from this author! I loved how the book starts out strong, with a heart-pounding scene, and continues in the same pace. Some books that start out strong having pacing issues but this one really kept me interested. This is a great first installment of what looks to be a good series. Thanks to the publisher for providing me with an ARC from which I based this honest review.

One of Colleen’s best. Filled with twists and antagonists I did not anticipate. A page turning suspense with the perfect blend of romance.

This was an intriguing and suspenseful read! The storyline had a lot of drama going on with the mystery and the start of a romance but overall it was a worthy read. I have read many great reviews on this author and I am glad I have this novel a try!

I really enjoyed this story more than I thought I would. I don't usually go for suspense/crime type stories, but this one has a lot more to it than murder and mayhem. I love the two main characters, Shauna and Zach, and the 5 year old boy. I also really liked how the story starts off with bang (literally) and develops at a good, steady pace, gradually revealing bits and pieces in a murder investigation.

All the while, there is the brewing romance between Shauna and Zach, but that too has it's own complications. They have strong feelings for one another, but there is much to overcome as their relationship develops. There is also a strong element of faith, which I really enjoyed. I felt that, too, really added to the story and to the relationship.

I believe this is the first of Colleen Coble books I've read, but I will definitely be reading more.

The View from Rainshadow Bay is book one in the Lavender Tides series and kicks off with mystery and suspense. Shauna McDade is a single mom working to care for her five-year-old son, Alex. Zach Bannister has been a close friend, but it’s his fault that Shauna’s husband is dead…or is it? The story weaves together age-old secrets and as Shauna and Zach uncover the things hidden, they place themselves in deeper and deeper danger. Written in true Colleen Coble fashion, the setting is as much a part of the story as the characters. The View from Rainshadow Bay takes the reader to beautiful Lavender Tides in the State of Washington.
I truly felt for Shauna and the secrets she uncovers that destroy what she thought was real. Zach is a wonderful hero who bears her anger and hate while keeping his own heart from becoming calloused. The ending was intense and kept me turning pages.

After her husband, Jack, dies in a climbing incident, Shauna has only her five-year-old son and her helicopter charter business to live for. Every day is a struggle to make ends meet and she lives in constant fear of losing even more than she already has.
When her business partner is murdered, his final words convince Shauna that she’s in danger too. But where can she turn? Zach Bannister was her husband’s best friend and is the person she blames for his death. She’s barely spoken to him since. But right now he seems her only hope for protecting her son.
Zach is only too happy to assuage his guilt over Jack’s death by helping Shauna any way he can. But there are secrets involved dating back to Shauna’s childhood that more than one person would prefer to stay hidden.
This book starts out with suspense and doesn't let up until the last page. Jack and Shauna have to resolve old issues in order for them to be able to solve the mystery of who is killing Shauna's friends and trying to kill her. Not only does Shauna have to worry about her life but the life of her young son.
I highly recommend this book to all suspense readers. As will all Ms. Coble's books this one did not disappoint.
I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.

I was super excited for this book - and it has a gorgeous cover which helped my excitement. Unfortunately, that’s about all I found exciting in this book. I found the characters to be dull and the storyline rather boring. I was highly disappointed because I’ve heard great things about her books. I also had issues with some of the theology of the characters in the story and some of their comments throughout. Overall, I’m not very impressed. I may give another book of hers a try, as I have heard good things overall and would like to give her books a second try.

Cover stole my heart. I love lavender and grow in my yard both for it's beauty and culinary uses. The story had it's moments. Love the setting. I'd fight tooth and nail to save it, too! But the mystery wasn't much of a mystery and one knew Shauna and Zach were getting together by the end. Still pleasant enough story for a summer day! mystery and romance all rolled into one tale. little slow in spots, but not horrible.

The View from Rainshadow Bay is Book 1 in the Lavender Tides Series. I have read many books by this author and I absolutly love her clean, christian, suspense novels.

This story didn’t disappoint! Good steady pace with several twist and turns. Several times throughout the book there were flashbacks of previous events which helped readers understand current events like Shauna’s husband death and Shauna’s mothers death.

I really liked the main characters Shauna, her son, and Zach. I hope their relationship will continue in book 2. Lots of family dynamics and secrets left unsolved totally left me wanting more and hoping book 2 will answer some of my questions.

I really enjoyed this story and highly recommend this thrilling, suspenseful novel! Lots of mystery and clean romance.

I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.
