New to reading paranormal & thought I would try this read ...

Hot cover - but I found this book confusing a number of characters kept being introduced found it hard to keep them all straight ..,

I think the storyline would have flowed better had it concentrated on just a few of the main characters ...

It was however neat & could relate to having some of the characters super strengths / powers 👍

I would still be inclined to give another paranormal read a try ..,,

What a great start to this series! Some of the characters from this book are from another of Laurenston's series but I don't think a reader would be lost if they started with this book. That said I would highly suggest that you read all SL's books in order to get the most enjoyment out of each book and the Easter eggs of past character's cameos.

This book started great with a lot of action, a fast pace and great dialogue. It continues the theme throughout the book as we meet Charlie and her sisters and the bears that want to help them.

The romance in this book isn't too pronounced. A large portion of the book is a set up for the series and an introduction of the characters. That said the story is fabulous and it didn't feel like we were just getting a rundown of plot and character points.

I loved getting more from the honey badgers. They are amusing and viscous all at the same time. Charlie and her sisters aren't the typical shifters with all their quirks but they were still hilarious and highly entertaining to read about. Then there's the bears who just kinda mosey along, not in any hurry until they see something that peaks there interest and they will do anything to appease their curiosity. Berg was great in that way. He was interested in Charlie and he just kept inserting himself in her life until she noticed him. Then he has to deal with her feelings of responsibility to her siblings that seem to keep her from living her life but that just makes things interesting. His brother and sister were interesting too and I am looking forward to seeing them more in later books.

All in all I really enjoyed this book and I am eagerly waiting for the rest of the series. I can't wait to see what SL does next.

I received a free copy from Netgalley.

I eagerly anticipated this release (I've read all her shifter books) and I wasn't disappointed. Humor, family, and sexiness mixed in with a dash of violence.
The family dynamic is complex, crazy, and I completely loved the heroine! The hero I wasn't expecting, but he was perfect.
There are two more sisters...oh goodie!

My reaction once I saw the title for this book and knew it was about HONEY BADGERS:

via GIPHY

This might be one of the ways I imagine our favorite honey badgers:

via GIPHY

But I am torn on how to review this because I loved it so much and don't want to even partially spoil anything so...  it is LIST TIME!!!

Why do I love this book so much?  Well..

We get to see HONEY BADGERS...  I mean come on now who wouldn't love it just for this alone.
A certain character I love gets their ass kicked and... also gets what's coming to them from another source as well.  When a mama says "I hope you have a kid just like you", pray this doesn't happen.
Bo!!!!!  Yes Bo is back in all his OCD glory.
Kyle!!!!!  We gets lots of psycho Kyle and man oh man did I miss him.
The sisters are divine!
Lock makes a fun appearance.
A certain overly focused older genius makes an appearance.
I really hope that one of the sisters ends up with my favorite panda.
We get another species that I didn't expect but should've cause he's just priceless and I can't wait to see more of him in future books.
Another bear shifter so you know what he's especially good at *waggles eyebrows*
A love story that makes sense even as the world around them goes crazy they just work...
Now on to my warnings..

Read this ONLY with people around you that won't get distracted by snort laughing as you hit some of the funniest parts.

Don't read this while DRINKING ANYTHING...  Yes I do mean DRINKING ANYTHING...  You will spit take a few times if you do and there is a distinct possibility of laughing hard enough where it will come out your nose.

Be prepared to want MORE NOW as this book reminds you of why you love this series so much and so badly missed the world that Shelly has built for us.

So.... just go ahead..  buy it and prepare to not get anything else done until you've read it.  Also...  I might be a WEE bit excited that Shelly will be the keynote speaker at a RWA luncheon this summer.  I will try to contain my fangirling but...  yeah...  I WILL BE IN THE SAME ROOM AS SHELLY... *hyperventilates* I'm cool...  I'm cool...  I'll be cool....

This has to be one of my all-time favorites of Shelly Laurenston's book! It had me laughing like her earlier Magnus Pack books. The Jean-Louis Parkers are back and as dysfunctional as ever. The MacKilligans are just as dysfunctional and funny. We thought that Dee-Ann and Cella were scary and crazy but these sisters have them beat (and literally at one point). I hope to see books for each sister.

What makes this book a 5? I had to go back and read it a second time right after I had just finished it. Loved it!

Definitely whetted the appetite. I have already provided a full review of the completed novel.

Wow - Laurensten has done it again. I loved, loved loved this book. The characters are unique and nuanced and the plot is entertaining. The addition of the "Dad" character is brilliant. I hope there will be more in this series.
My thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Hot and Badgered by Shelly Laurenston is the first book in a fun new paranormal romance series, the Honey Badgers, featuring three certifiable sisters and a diverse cast of paranormal characters.

You don't find many honey badgers in the shapeshifter world of romance, so I was glad to have something a little different here. And the honey badger family in this series are nucking futs, much like their real honey badger kin. They are high strung, anxiety-ridden, vicious, obstinate, and largely unconcerned with others lives besides their own (and their close family). All of the sisters in this family are POC for those readers looking for a little diversity in their romance.

Our first heroine of the series is Charlie MacKilligan, a hybrid wolf/honey badger shifter who isn't actually able to shift. Charlie is the oldest of the MacKilligan sisters, and the most sane. She was the caretaker of the family, keeping the others safe and making sure their deadbeat father stayed at arm's length. She always put others before herself, and had a tendency to bake when she got stressed. I really liked Charlie. She was a good mix of crazy and controlled. She was tough and capable as well, and didn't need a man taking care of her or her sisters. And as crazy as they were, the sisters had a great relationship with one another.

As much as I liked Charlie, I loved our hero, Berg Dunn, just as much. Berg is a huge grizzly bear, one of a set of triplets. He is pretty much the polar opposite of our honey badgers. He was more even-keeled and less quick to anger. But he could definitely knock some heads when he needed to. He seems like the type of guy that can get along with almost anyone, and its no skin off his nose if he has to settle any drama that breaks out.

The relationship between Charlie and Berg was a slow burn. They really became friends first, and that evolved into more as we proceeded with the story. I thought it was funny that Charlie thought she had to protect Berg. And I liked that Berg looked out for Charlie and her sisters in ways other than the physical.

There is a huge cast of characters in this story, and I loved all of them. The other bears were so funny and bear-like. Much of the story involved food so be prepared to be hungry... especially for honey-flavored things. The drama with Charlie's dad and the other villains was also laid out well and kept the story moving at a nice pace.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from the publisher.

This is a I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review of chapter 1 only. It is surely a great beginning to a good shape shifting story. Not sure if it’s part of a series but since there are 3 sisters in this chapter I’m guessing it could be. Plenty of action and various animal shifters introduced.

Title: Hot and Badgered

Series: The Honey Badgers Book #1
Stand Alone Title: yes
Author: Shelly Laurenston

Genre: Romance, Paranormal

Blurb: It’s not every day that a beautiful naked woman falls out of the sky and lands face-first on grizzly shifter Berg Dunn’s hotel balcony. Definitely they don’t usually hop up and demand his best gun. Berg gives the lady a grizzly-sized t-shirt and his cell phone, too, just on style points. And then she’s gone, taking his XXXL heart with her. By the time he figures out she’s a honey badger shifter, it’s too late.

Honey badgers are survivors. Brutal, vicious, ill-tempered survivors. Or maybe Charlie Taylor-MacKilligan is just pissed that her useless father is trying to get them all killed again, and won’t even tell her how. Protecting her little sisters has always been her job, and she’s not about to let some pesky giant grizzly protection specialist with a network of every shifter in Manhattan get in her way. Wait. He’s trying to help? Why would he want to do that? He’s cute enough that she just might let him tag along—that is, if he can keep up . . .

Thoughts: I have been excited about this book for months, but I was honestly a little let down by this book. For me, it just seemed like a lot of things thrown in together into a jumble with no real direction. While I like crazy characters now and again, this book was full of them….too many of them. It was borderline ridiculous to the point where I had a hard time muddling through it. I didn’t feel any connection to the story or any of the characters. This one is a pass for me.

HOT AND BADGERED is the first book in Shelly Laurenston's Honey Badgers Chronicles. As somebody who cried buckets of tears when Shelly Laurenston ended her Pride series, I was ecstatic about this new honey badger series. This series is set in the same world as the Pride series and readers will see some favorite characters make appearances. HOT AND BADGERED revolves around three honey badger shifter sisters -- Charlie Taylor-MacKilligan, Max MacKilligan, and Stevie Stasiuk MacKilligan, and the trouble their missing link loser father makes for them. In the middle of the mess caused by Fred MacKilligan, Charlie finds a romance with grizzly shifter Berg Dunn. In addition to being a hottie, Berg winds up being supportive and stable -- two things that prove to be very seductive for Charlie.

When Charlie and Berg first meet at the beginning of HOT AND BADGERED, it's like something out of a Hollywood blockbuster -- bullets flying, explosions, a hot guy, and a dangerous woman. Berg is entranced, although he doesn't think it likely he'll see this woman again. Little does he know that fate is conspiring to throw them together again. Charlie, Max, and Stevie have very complicated lives -- mainly because of trouble heaped on them because of the trouble caused by their father. I like that Charlie and her sisters have a tight relationship, even though they drive each other crazy now and then. While Fred MacKilligan is MIA and presumably in the middle of some chaos that constantly surrounds him, the MacKilligan sisters are chilling out in a bear neighborhood. Specifically, Berg is one of their neighbors. Berg and his siblings befriend Charlie and her sisters. Over the course of this book, Charlie must dodge assassination attempts, crazy family members, miscellaneous people who try to mess with her for their own reasons, and ride herd on her sisters. Charlie is resigned to deal with both friend and foe while trying to earn a little cash on the side and fit in a nap here or there.

HOT AND BADGERED is hilarious, action-packed, and nothing short of amazing! Charlie and Berg are appealing main characters, and the cast of supporting characters are a lot of fun as well. Once again, Shelly Laurenston delivers a story with kick-ass female characters who eviscerate their enemies one minute and talk smack with their girlfriends the next. I hope to see more of characters like Cooper Jean-Louis Parker and Max's friend Dutch in future stories. I can't wait for the next Honey Badgers Chronicles book!

Anyone that enjoys shifter books will love this book. The characters are over the top, the action is fast and the humour never stops. By the time you're finished, you'll have a new love for all things badger. I have read all the books by this author and they never fails to entertain. I'm already waiting for the next one.

Hot and Badgered is a manic laugh out loud tale that will leave you exhausted, happy and wanting more. The MacKilligan girls have been hell all their lives mostly due to their parental units. It has forced them to be smart, cunning and ruthless when necessary. Charlie is the eldest. She is a honey badger/wolf hybrid who can’t shift more than her fangs and claws but she is a super fast healer which comes in handy. She is the rudder that keeps her sisters alive and out of jail. In this book their father gets them into another mess but this time they have friends helping them out. There is a grizzly who is set on showing Charlie that life is more than bouncing from one crisis to another.
I loved this book. It was fun seeing the Smith ladies knocked down a notch. I can’t wait for more.

Having read everything that Shelly Laurenston has written this novel continues on in the same vein as her previous ones. It is snarky, crazy, and totally fun. Having been very sad when Ms. Laurenston said she was done with her Pride series I was very happy when several characters from that series made appearances in this book.

The lead characters are Berg a grizzly bear , and Charlie a wolf/honey-badger hybrid. Charlie has 2 half sisters, and between the 3 girls, chaos ensues. There is not one dull moment in this entire book. The humor and wit are throughout the entire book, and yes it is laugh-out-loud funny. Berg and Charlie's romance is and sweet and funny, Her sisters are insane.

The shifter world that Ms. Laurenston has created is on long crazy ride and so much fun.

Received as an ARC from Netgalley for an honest review.

This is just a review for the first chapter and I can't tell you how much I want the rest of it now!!! It starts off with a bang and follows it up with plenty of snarkalicious humor. This is setting us up for lots of mystery, paranormal goodness which equals to mayhem in Ms. Larenston's world, and plenty of fun.

This was only a sneak peak....the first chapter from Netgalley, but that first chapter has me waning more! It was so good, and I'm hooked. I loved Bite Me from Shelly Laurenston's Pride series. I fell in love with her awesome Honey badger shifters. So finding out she was writing more honey badger goodness got me so excited. I can't wait to get my hands on this book!

Charlie MacKilligan and her two sisters are constantly on the run from others trying to kill them due to their father. One of those runs drops a naked Charlie on the hotel balcony of bear shifter Berg Dunn, who comes to her rescue when he gives her one of his guns.

Berg once again comes in contact with Charlie and her sisters and offers them a safe place to stay, which happens to be a bear neighborhood.

Much humor ensues with the return of DeeAnn Smith, the VanHolts, and Bo the polar bear. Charlie's sisters Max and Stevie are a riot. A fun read.
