This is a valuable cookbook for someone who has just bought their first Instant Pot and who happens to be a dedicated carnivore. As a vegan, I felt this book was definitely not for me. And it's very slim pickings for a vegetarian as well. The book is also pretty light on the photo front. I like my cookbooks to have one for each recipe and this one does not.
I liked and bookmarked some of the tips givens (everything is better explained than in the Instant Pot manual) and some "basics" such as Faux-roasted garlic, Risotto, Quick Pickled veggies, Mulled Cider etc... The faux-roasted garlic paste is going to be a regular guest at my home. It saves a lot of time to use it instead of mincing/pressing fresh cloves of garlic for recipes. It keeps in the fridge for a few days but you need to make a fresh batch every week. An easy thing to do thanks to the magic of the Instant Pot.

I have had an Instapot for over and year and must admit I don't use all of the features. This book, however, changed that. Great easy to follow recipes with complete and easy to follow directions. These recipes have brought my Instapot cooking to a new level. If you have an Instapot, you will want this cookbook.

I received a free electronic copy of How To Instant Pot: Mastering All The Functions of the One Pot That Will Change the Way You Cook by Daniel Shumski from NetGalley for my honest review.

I am so beyond happy with this cookbook. I purchased my Instant Pot a couple weeks ago and purchased a cookbook to go with it that I wasn't thrilled with. Then I received the ebook copy of How To Instant Pot. I love that it gave me step=by=step instructions on how to use each setting and even how to clean it. It teaches you how to steam, saute, shows you cooking tips, the difference between instant pot and other cooking methods. The recipes are amazing. I can make homemade jam, homemade yogurt, rice, soup, etc. Last night I made the Beef Barbacoa Tacos and they were out of this world. I love this cookbook.

I was able to read an advanced reader copy of the upcoming book, How to Instant Pot, recently and Review: How to Instant Potthought I’d share my review here in case it helps any readers.

How to Instant Pot might be better named “The Meat Lover’s Instant Pot Cookbook,” as meat features quite predominantly. As someone who cooks vegetarian, this meant the vast majority of the recipes were of no use to me. I’m sure they’ll be great for typical omnivores, but I thought I’d mention it first as a heads up to vegetarians, vegans and even those who try to cook a lot of meatless recipes for health or economic reasons.

Most of the recipes are for meat, meat, meat. Even the recipes for vegetables involved adding a lot of meat. I got to the point where I was surprised the oatmeal didn’t call for some sort of meat added to it, as even the tofu soup called for bacon and chicken stock (and fried eggs on top).

This also isn’t the best cookbook if you are trying to limit your fat or calorie intake. The dishes include copious amounts of cream, cheese, meat and fat. Likewise, the recipes are not going to be the easiest on your pocketbook since they call for lots of meat and lots of specialty cheeses.

I use my Instant Pot fairly often, but generally just for a few common things — black beans for Mexican night, spaghetti squash, artichokes, quick potatoes, millet, quinoa, lentils, etc. My manual is pretty worthless for looking up the times and instructions for this kind of thing and I really wanted a general “how-to Instant Pot book” (which is what this is named) rather than a cookbook. I would love a big book of instructions for how to cook basics like these and then a few good recipes for each one of those. Instead, this is a cookbook of mostly meat dishes you can pressure cook and then mostly soups and stews (again, mostly meat based) you can make on the slow cooker setting, and so on.

There are lots of color photos (though not every recipe has a photo) and there’s very good information about the basics of how Instant Pots work, though. The author writes in a very accessible, friendly style.and strikes a great balance between being knowledgeable and down-to-earth. He just doesn’t happen to cook the same types of foods that I was hoping to find instructions or recipes for. If you like cooking with lots of meat, half and half, specialty cheeses, etc. then this is likely to be a book you’ll enjoy quite a bit. It is also fairly suitable for gluten free folks, as very few recipes call for wheat or bread (though there are some).

How to Instant Pot is due to be released on October 31.

As a newbie instant pot owner, this was EXACTLY was I was looking for! Real talk, I love the instant pot community and users, but it can get chaotic on the facebook page. This was so beautifully laid out, easy to read, and easy to use. I feel way more equipped to tackle more recipes!

It may have been partially due to the fact that it landed in my inbox shortly after I received my Instant Pot, but I'm very much enamored of this cookbook. It did everything I would have wanted from an Instant Pot cookbook - it taught me a bit about how to use the multi-cooker, what works best and less well in the Instant Pot, and how pressure cooking (Instant Pot's primary feature, I'd say) works. Then it got into recipes, set up for each of Instant Pot's function. Everything from the perfect hard-boiled egg - my first recipe with Instant Pot, and those shells peeled so well! - to Caramelized Onions to Bacon, Corn, and Potato Chowder. This one was received as a e-version from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review, but I'm already planning to buy the paper version as soon as it comes out.

This is a handy reference guide for using the Instant Pot with plenty of delicious recipes to try. What I liked most about this book is that it clearly explains how to use the Instant Pot, what the functions offer, and when you'd need to use them. The tips, tricks, and troubleshooting alone make this book worth reading, especially if you're an Instant Pot newbie or you want to learn how to get the most out of this popular kitchen tool.

The author offers a wide range of recipes from stews and meat dishes to rice, vegetables, desserts, yogurt, and more. The main dishes lean toward meat eaters, so vegetarians might not find many recipes to try in that section. I've successfully made a few of the recipes, including yogurt, stock, beans, and stew, and plan to try caramelized onions, Smoky Potato and Kale Soup, Gingered Sriracha Squash Soup, Kimchee Chicken, Sweet Potatoes with Parsley and Balsamic Vinegar, and Autumn Spice Applebutter.

I'm picky when it comes to cookbooks, and prefer to have pictures of each dish, which this book doesn't provide. The pictures they do have are nice, but from a visual perspective, I would have preferred one for each recipe. I'm also not a fan of the vegetable oil recommendations in many recipes. Please opt for a healthier alternative than canola or peanut oil.

I recommend this book for anyone with an Instant Pot. You're sure to find a tip, trick, recipe or function you didn't know or use before.

I love my instant pot! But, like most people, I quickly fell into a rut of cooking the same things in it week in and week out. Then I picked up this book. First of all, it is very descriptive and filled with important information on how to your your IP as well as info on pressure cooking in general. It is great for the person who has been hesitant or afraid of their IP and it is a great addition to your cook book catalog for the experienced IPer.
The very first recipe, Beef Barbacoa Tacos, was an instant hit. Plus, the pictures are beautiful. It also includes slow cooker recipes, which helps you explore all the things your IP can do. Oh, and how can I forget to mention the lava cake? To die for. Definitely recommend!

This book thoroughly explains the use of an Insta-pot appliance. The author explains in detail how each function of the pot works, how to use the Insta-pot, how to clean and care for it and how to complete successful meals with this appliance. There are over 200. pages of instructions, tips , recipes and information to make the reader an Insta-pot pro.
The book is one of the most informative books I have encountered. The author did an expert job of presenting his subject in a clear, concise, informative platform to educate and enlighten his reader. This book is a must have for an Inst-pot owner. The Recipes are fabulous too!!!!!!

I’ve always found using a pressure cooker to be pretty intimidating. I’ve had an instant pot tucked away in a rarely-used cabinet. Reading this book has given me back my confidence. It was easy to read and understand. I’ve made a few of the recipes in the short time I’ve had the book and I am very impressed. The recipes I did make were wonderful! My kids even loved them! I look forward to testing the rest of the recipes!

The title says it all. If you purchased an electronic pressure cooking machine, specifically the Instant Pot, this book will help you ease into the idea that you can instant pot many dishes and reduce cooking time. The book offers plenty of tips to make the reader excited about using their device and the recipes offered are all hearty and crowd-pleasers. It includes lots of family-friendly favorites like tacos, meatballs and chilis. The book's strength is to show that one appliance can do it all! Steam, sauté, slow-cook, etc. Plenty of variety, this book is a gem for those who own an instant pot, but those who own a manual pressure cooker will also benefit because of the wonderful recipes.

How to Instant Pot: Mastering All the Functions of the One Pot That Will Change the Way You Cook by Daniel Shumski is the perfect companion to the multi-cooker craze that is sweeping the nation. Instant Pot is apparently the most popular brand, but there are dozens of other brands of multi-cookers that have similar functions and work equally well. This cookbook is geared toward the Instant Pot brand, but the recipes work perfectly in several of my multi-cookers put out by other manufacturers. The pictures are great, too, although there isn’t a picture of every recipe.

This cookbook is well-organized according to function and presents a Master Method (basic recipe), then gives several ways to use what was cooked or unique variations. For instance, there is a recipe for Quick Pressure Cooker Pork Shoulder as the Master Method recipe using the pressure cooker function, then a Barbecue variation, as well as a teriyaki variation and a salsa variation.

There are basic recipes for polenta and risotto, along with variations, as well as dry beans with unique ways to use them once cooked. Shumski presents an excellent Basic Stock recipe which can be used in recipes in the book and also any recipe you may have that isn’t in the book that calls for homemade stock.

The Slow Cooker section has excellent recipes: Korean-Style Short Ribs with Garlic and Ginger, Garlicky White Bean Soup with Crispy Pancetta, and a Faux Cassoulet to name a few. The instructions are succinct and easy to follow for cooks of all levels.

All told, How to Instant Pot: Mastering All the Functions of the One Pot That Will Change the Way You Cook is one of the best cookbooks on the subject and is highly recommended.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

Instant Pots are the coolest, but they can also be a little mystifying! This book offers great instructions on how to get the most out of this awesome kitchen tool!

I loved this book and I am sure I will get a lot of use out of it. It is very comprehensive and written in an easy style However it is unlikely that the library I work for will buy it as it doesn't use metric measurements and some of the ingredients will not be familiar to a UK audience.

I was really excited to check out this cookbook after buying an Instapot last fall and then realizing I have no idea what I was doing. Was I in over my head? Did I make a wasteful purchase?

This cookbook breaks down the features and functions of the Instapot with a well planned out introduction. Then each chapter is broken down by each function. This was a bit hard for me because I typically want to grab a cookbook and turn to soups, or desserts, or whatever section for the type of food I am cooking. Hopefully the index (not included in the review copy) will have a way to look up by food category rather than having to skim the entire book for a recipe.

The pluses were it had very nice simple to follow instructions for each recipe. And easy recipes for staples such as baked potatoes, hard boiled eggs, and broths. The photography was absolutely exquisite. They even made recipes I'd never try look appealing.

For me (personally) the drawbacks were that the meat dishes were very pork heavy, and I don't eat pork. Also very unique ethnic dishes, which is fine, but something I'd typically just seek out as a one-off online.

I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley for an honest review.

I can't wait to get started on these inspiring recipes! I enjoyed the easy style of the descriptions and the beautiful photos made me want to reach out and taste the food!
There are a few recipes here I will definitely be trying out in my new instant pot. The book has given me the confidence to experiment. Tomorrow's dinner might just be the lamb and chickpeas.......

I don't own an instant pot, but, after reading this books, I'm getting one.I saw the Instant Pot on TV on a cooking show and it sounded intriguing. But, like so many of us, I have way too many appliances which I rarely use.

Shumski does a fantastic job of explaining how each of the main functions on the Instant Pot works and then gives us a nice group of yummy recipes designed to use that function.

I'm sold on the device and on this excellent cookbook!
