Dnf. I just couldn't get into this one. Plus the book got on my shelf at a time my mother had just passed. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book was a bit of a mess tbh. I just did not know what else to say about it. I'm not a huge fan

What an amazing read...pulled me in from the first word and didn't let go till the word! Although called a trilogy, this is the second book and the first one I've read. I would know more about Penny, Logan and Layla if I read the first book but I didn't feel lost. This IS a dark romance with much sadness and rage. Blake blames Daisy's dad for the murder of his mother. For revenge, he kidnaps Daisy and tells her father that she'll be released when he dies (her father)! So much anger inside of Blake that results from buried rage against his abusive dad and sadness that he lost his mother at such a young age. What Blake doesn't expect is to fall for Daisy. Daisy realizes there's more to Blake and that there's a good man underneath, but he just has to let go of the anger, something Blake isn't willing to do...such an amazingly written book!

Second book of Dark Romance.
Penny's (1st book) brother Blake’s story. He has been keeping secrets from his sister about his father and his abuse toward him. He felt guilty that he couldn’t save his mother from his father even though he was only 5-6 years old. Now he is taking his time off to visit home to have one goal in his life, find the lawyer who covered up everything his father has done. Now he would revenge by kidnapping the only daughter from the lawyer.
He was finally back home and meets Daisy for the first time. It was to lure her in before he was about to kidnap and get to know her a bit. Blake has been closely following her since college years. He knew who she was and he was just looking for the right time. Now time has come, he threatens Daisy’s father and kidnaps her.
Daisy was working at his father’s office and he sees Blake shows up at his father’s office. She wanted some excitement in her life and when Blake offers a dinner even though her father forbids she jumps at the chance. What she didn’t know was she was kidnapped by Blake. Now she trapped in his house but she doesn’t feel she is being threaten enough to run away. She sees he is hiding something really deep inside him and she wants to help.
Blakes has kept all his anger inside him and he wanted to control everything but Daisy wasn’t easy to control. He wanted to find the truth and make Daisy father’s life as miserable as his was. However more time Blake spends with Daisy, he opens up to her and tells secrets he never told anyone else even his sister. Now line is blurred between Daisy and Blake.
When he had to take Daisy to his aunt’s house, his sister and her husband shows and makes his plan more complicated. There were secrets he wanted to keep it to himself but Daisy encourages him to tell the truth to his sister. Plus he is slowly falling for Daisy and he doesn’t know if he can keep it up again.
Not only Daisy is calming him, his father’s news about his father and how he wasn’t the person he thought he was. Blake wants more with Daisy and get back to being happy....
It was good as first one. It was heartbreaking to read about Blake’s childhood how his father abused him and used him and how it drove him to become who he was. This is definitely dark and relationship between Daisy and Blake were great and nice to see Penny and Logan.
I can’t wait to read the third one..

I know this must defeat the object of a review to some people, but I've said it before & I'll keep on saying it, going in to a book blind always has the best outcomes for me!

BUY THIS DAMN BOOK! It will blow your mind!!!

I have chosen to not finish this title. While I generally like dark romances, I did not like this one. I know Blake is out for revenge, but I was never able to really like him. He just came across as cruel and heartless, which made this a tough read for me.

After reading book one in this dark trilogy, Stranger, I had become interested in this author and the style in which the stories are delivered. I was intrigued to see what was going to come with book two, Deceiver, because I was engrossed with the Vandershall story after being introduced to Penny and hearing her side of the family drama.

Blake Vandershall not only upped the bar of intensity, the author took me on a whole new ride of sexual intensity fueled by anger and the hunger for revenge. This series is proof of the saying “Sins of the Father” as Blake goes after the man who helped his own father commit the crimes that destroyed his family. It is time now for Mr. Nowell, a rich and prominent man who has the love and admiration of his family, to pay for covering up for the monster Blake called father.

The only problem is Daisy Nowell is going to get in the way. She is bored with her life and hates working in her father’s office, but with his health concerns, she feels it is her duty to make sure she can keep an eye on daddy and not allow him to push himself into a heart attack. This boredom feeds the desires she feels when Blake appears in her life, but she certainly isn’t a saint. No this girl has a streak of rebellion that she has no problem feeding on a daily basis.

He needs her, so he can make her father know what it is like to lose a piece of his soul and heart, but he never expected her to come so willingly, yet rebelling with every step. Her mind says to run, her passion said to jump in to the lake known as Blake feet first. Her father warns her to stay away, her sexual tension begs her to indulge.

The story takes off fast, from page one you get a sense of how things won’t go smooth when Daisy is involved, but can she be the one to tame the anger boiling inside Blake, or will she help him after she realizes what happen between their fathers? She could be yet another victim due to the sins committed in the prior generation.

I just have to say at this point, Robin Lovett has become one of my top five dark authors. I wish I could verbalize just how unique her series is but I fear if I do, I will end up spoiling it for the reader, so pay attention to how she starts with one family tree, adds a few new branches and I anticipate, that by the time we are done with book three, we will find ourselves lost in a forest of pain, anger, lust and revenge that will keep us captivated long after the last page is read. I know I can hardly wait for it.

This is the second book in the series and should be read in order.This was quite a good read but it was not really that dark and not as good as the first book not even close was just okay for me.

Deceiver is the second book of this series, and I enjoyed it much more than Stranger, the first book. This time it's Blake's (Penny's brother) and Daisy's story. Blake is even more of a f-ed up guy than Logan. He was abused heavily by his and Penny's father, and that abuse has take its toll on Blake's psyche. He's angry, seeking vengeance and just seething with malice. Daisy's father is the lawyer who helped his father cover up his misdeeds, or so Blake thinks. So, his brilliant plan to wreak vengeance upon Emmett is to kidnap Daisy and hold her against her will. In order for his plan to work, though, he has to tell Daisy he's kidnapping her, and why. So she'll know just how messed up a guy he is, and that she has no control over her fate, yet can't tell her father or he'll release evidence that will send her father to prison.

What Blake didn't count on, though, is that Daisy would not only go with him willingly, but that she'd enjoy being with him, because she's as twisted as he is. She gets off on annoying him, poking him, then watching him blow up and f her brains out afterward. Yeah...she's messed up too. But, she's got a brightness to her that Penny didn't have, it helps elevate Deceiver out of some of the bleakness that pervaded Stranger. "Her brightness, her curiosity, this need for fun that is so a part of her it's written in her skin and beating from her heart--it does things to me. It makes me want to take it and make it mine. It may be to relieve her of all her childish antics and tell her that life has nothing to do with the games she insists on playing. I want to destroy it and bathe in it at the same time. I don't want to need her, but something about the way she is and acts--I need it like I need air."

Daisy's funny, provocative and snarky. She's a much stronger character than Penny, which is the main reason why I enjoyed Deceiver much more than I enjoyed Stranger. It certainly isn't because I like Blake, because, just like with Logan, I can't stand Blake. I feel for him, but I don't like him at all. He was twisted by his father's abuse and it made him into a wholly unlikable, ridiculous character. He never redeemed himself in my eyes. Yes, he apologized eventually, but I still couldn't find it in myself to like him. Daisy was truly messed up to love a man like him.

Is Deceiver dark as it says in the title? No, not at all. Gray and a little bleak, but not truly dark. If you want dark, read A Zavarelli's Underworld series, or Tillie Cole's Scarred Souls series. Now those women know how to write dark, truly dark, twisted stuff that makes you fear for their characters. Deceiver isn't dark, it's not particularly pleasant or romantic, but it's not dark. So if dark is what you're looking for, you won't find it in Deceiver, or in Stranger, either. Instead if you're looking for a kind of depressing, gray tale of vengeance and a little bit of kidnapping, then Deceiver is the story for you.

wow! this was an incredibly intense dark romance that had me on the edge of my seat! the steam was off the charts and the story itself had me reading from start to finish without a break because i couldn't put this book down. highly recommend!

This is blakes story. This ones honestly I think better then the first I loved seeing more of Blake this one was a revenge story. I would continue reading books from this author

Overall, I enjoyed this book and the story. It was one of the most passionate books I think I've ever read. The author does an amazing job with the sex scenes; the intensity and passion are palpable. I really liked the character of Blake a lot. I had a tougher time liking Daisy, however. She certainly is a strong heroine, and I loved that she had such strength and stood by Blake, but parts of her behavior, particularly her frequent thoughts about being so bored, seemed so childish to me. Just when I'd start to like her, she'd lapse back into one of those thought patterns, and I'd get agitated all over again. Apparently this is the second book in the series, which I didn't realize going in. I felt like I was missing some important pieces by not having read the other story first, but I was able to figure it all out based on what is said here, so I agree that it can be a standalone (although it's probably more enjoyable if read in order of the series). The storyline itself is quite interesting, but I spent the first part of the book confused about what was going on. For instance, why was Daisy setting off the sprinklers at Blake's party (apparently she was just bored?), and why was he having the party to begin with (we learn why later, I guess, but it still felt disjointed). Anyway, once I got past the very confusing first part of the book, I enjoyed most of the rest of it. This is the first book I've read by this author, and I would be interested in reading more.

'Deceiver" is book Two in the "A Dark Revenge Romance" Series. This is the story of Daisy Nowell and Blake Vandershall. I have read the previous book and feel that this can be a standalone book, if you choose to do so. Blake is out to get revenge on the man he thinks help cover up his father's dark past. Part of the plan to hurt the man is to go after his daughter, Daisy. Blake had met Daisy before although she doesn't seem to remember him at first. Blake had been attracted to her but now she has tried to down play her looks some. Daisy is trying to help her father with is law firm. Daisy's father is having some health issues. Daisy is attracted to Blake instantly too and doesn't know at first what he is up to. Daisy did hear him having a heated conversation with her father, but her attraction and curiosity as to what he is up to makes her go forward with seeing him again.
Blake's main focus was to be on the father but Daisy is making that hard to do.

I really enjoyed this one. It was a little dark but not too much. It was well written and I enjoyed the characters of Blake and Daisy very much. The story has enough twists and turns to keep you flipping the pages. This is actually the second book in the series. A fact I had no idea of when I started reading. I wasn't lost at all so you can obviously read and enjoy this one without having read the first. I would definitely recommend this book.

This story!!! This incredible story that just keeps pulling me in. After reading the first book in this series, I wasn't sure how the author was going to top it, but OMG, she totally has. WOW!!!

To say that Blake has issues is a huge understatement. After years of protecting his sister from his evil father, even after his death, Blake is now out for revenge. What better way to get revenge than to kidnap the daughter of the man who helped cover up things Blake's father did, right? I mean, what could go wrong?

Daisy has been living a blah life. Don't get her wrong. She comes from money. Her father is a very successful lawyer, she's gone to college and could have her pick of any young southern man...if she wanted. But that's not something she wants. Nope. She seems to be searching for...more. What that more is, she's not sure. Until she meets Blake. There's that something she's been looking for and didn't even know until it was right in front of her. But the circumstances are very unconventional and before she knows it, she can't get enough of Blake. Does he feel the same or is she just the means to an end?

Like I stated earlier, this story just keeps getting better and better for me. Is there an over abundance of sex in this book? Yep, but it has everything to do with the relationship between Blake and Daisy and how it actually "helps" some of the healing (you'll understand when you read it). If you're anything like me, you'll walk away from this book having shed many tears for the pain that Blake had to deal with. But more importantly, from the love he finally gets from someone he doesn't deserve it from.

BTW - Holy Epilogue cliffhanger Batman!!!!! I'm SOOOOOOOOOO in....100%

I received Deceiver by Robin Lovett in an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I am giving this book 5 stars because the author did a wonderful job in this book with crafting these characters together. Book 2 from the dark series starts right off where book 1 left off. Now we start to understand why Blake Vandershall hates not only his father so much but also Emmett Novell, and why he wants revenge so bad. So in order to see Emmett suffer his going to take away something that mean so much to him his beautiful innocent daughter Daisy. The only problem is that this plan is going to backfire on him because he thought he was going to destroy Emmett little princess, but what Blake comes to realize is that Daisy has a dark side to herself too, and all Blake is doing is bring that side out of her. Unfortunately for him he's starting to fall in love with the not so innocent Daisy and she starting to fall for him, but once she finds out why he went after her was all to destroy her daddy will she be able to forgive him. I don't want to give away too much of the book away. I want you to just know that you are going to love this book because the writer continues to answer our questions that we had in the first book. So if you have not read book 1 you should to understand book 2 better. I fall in love with these characters because they both equaled each other out. For example Blake was this strong dark person who didn't care what people think, and Daisy was strong and never kept her mouth shut when Blake tried to scare or intimidate her she pushed right back. And that's why I really enjoyed this book because we got to see these two strong people come together in a dark but good way.

The second in the series, and we start with Blake Vandershire, he's determined to have his revenge for the death of his mother, by kidnapping the daughter of the man who he thinks is responsible for covering her murder and letting her killer get away Scott free.
The attraction he feels for her is a complication, it's something he hadn't anticipated. And the heated looks, and intense feelings will not cease between them.
This was a very passionate novel, very sexy. Blake was trying to debase Daisy, corrupt her sexually, but she enjoyed their sexual play and so did he. As time past they become partners in bed and Daisy showed she was stronger than she seemed. There's lot's of bedroom action in Deceiver, and Blake has a lot of emotional issues to content with his mother's death. A real page turner, and hard to put down when started.
A really enjoyable read, and I'm looking forward to the next book in this exciting series.

When I saw Robin Lovett’s Dark series, I had to read them. I love that all of these books contain anti-heroes and have a sexually and darkly charged atmosphere to them. Deceiver is my favorite in the series!

Blake Vandershall is taking a page from the previous hero’s book and plotting revenge. His father got away with his misdeeds and the man responsible for helping Blake’s father get away with it needs to be taught a lesson. Blake will take away the man’s daughter. Unfortunately for Blake, his whole world shifts because Daisy Nowell doesn’t go anywhere she doesn’t want to go.

I can’t control other people. But I can control myself. So I’ve gotten very good at the word no.

Daisy has been kind of bored with her life lately so when Blake comes in reeking of sexually-charged, angry beast she’s enthralled. There’s something about his presence that just captures her attention, but she’s also no pushover. I really, really loved Daisy! She meets Blake’s aggression head-on, and I enjoyed all the little twists and turns in this book. Daisy defies slinking back from Blake, and it leads to some sex that’s out of this world hot!

”Don’t you know how dark you are?”
“I don’t think anyone wants to find out the answer to that question.”

It took me a while to warm up to Blake. His POV felt a little overdone, and his thoughts fell into this cyclical pattern that I noticed in the first book. That being said, he really has a heartbreaking back story, and there’s no way I couldn’t just feel for him, feel his pain. He definitely becomes a multi-dimensional character, and I ended up falling completely in love with this bold Blake Vandershall. He’s what I look for in a dark, anti-hero, and I think others will love him just as much as I did.

Her brightness, her curiosity, this need for fun that is so a part of her it’s written in her skin and beating from her heart—it does things to me. It makes me want to take it and make it mine.

Where the first book had the potential for character development, I think book two realized it. Around the halfway mark, everything started coming together and the characters developed in such a way that I pushed straight through to the end. It was, quite simply, beautiful to read.

This series is getting better and better, and I can’t wait for book three. It pushes all my “yes, please” buttons. Deceiver is a great installment in this series that has me ready for more!

4 Bring-It-On-Home Stars!

Wow, this is the first book I've read by Lovett but have to say will definitely look at more. Blake is a brilliant hero (use the term very loosely). Wildly conflicted, passionately intense, completely in the wrong- which makes you feel for him when he realises just how in the wrong he is. I have to say Daisy begins as a bit annoying, kind of oh woe is me. how confused she is, how she doesn't know what she wants. In walk big strong man to take over.
I love the interactions between characters and how everything falls apart even as it falls into place. The author certainly has a talent for allowing things to fall apart so carefully. From Blake's abduction/ kidnapping 'voluntarily' plan to the arrival of his family.
There is a deeper story to this that makes you think how far would you go?
brilliant storyline, fantastic depth of character. well written. I quite enjoyed this.

Different, interesting and engaging are the words I'd use to describe this book, it surprised me more than I though it would. A definite recommendation from myself.
