Holy Mackerel - I did not see that ending coming!

This is the 3rd book in the rescue dog romance series and while you don't have to read the first two books, it does give you a little more information on the characters and the history they have with each other.

This book focuses on Zoe Plum - wedding planner extraordinaire and best friend to Piper and Addison. Zoe has a lot she has to deal with in this book -finding out some information about her mom's situation, adopting a cute dachshund, and finding out the truth about herself and what she wants out of life. It doesn't hurt that she meets Levi and he seems more in her than she sees in herself, which is a good and a bad thing because it is forcing her to face the truth she has been avoiding for 6 years.

The book also has a mystery - there is a slayer on the loose in San Francisco and Zoe's business seems to have been targeted to put her out of business. Who is doing all of this? Is it who she thinks - her nemesis Chelsea? You'll have to read the book to find out but I don't think you'll discover the answer before it is revealed!

A Wedding Tail by Casey Griffin was a sweet and entertaining read.
The storyline was entertaining, the characters were likable and I enjoyed watching them come together.
Overall a lovely afternoon's read.

A Wedding Tail is a good addition to the A Rescue Dog Romance Series, each book can be read as a standalone and I highly recommend them all.

*A big thank you to the publisher for the advance copy in exchange for my honest thoughts*

This is the third book in the Rescue Dog Romance series and canters on Zoe who is an event planner. She wants every wedding to be perfect partly due to her own horrible experience when the groom was a no-show. The book starts at a wedding that she is the planner for that EVERYTHING goes wrong at. Unfortunately for me too many things went wrong and although I think it was supposed to be funny since we were seeing it all through the eyes of Zoe who didn't find it funny neither did I. However, the wedding is where we are introduced to Levi who is a fill-in groomsman.

The wedding disaster is just the beginning of the troubles for Zoe as it turns out someone is out to sabotage her. This leads from one problem/disaster after another. Meanwhile Levi who is a very laid back guy is pursuing Zoe although she gives him no encouragement. Zoe was a bit too cynical and distrustful for me and since she gave Levi so little encouragement I struggled a bit with the romance. I also struggled a bit with the turn around Zoe did at the end. I wish it would have been more obvious that the turn around was because she met the man that was a great fit for her not that she decided she needed a relationship (which was how I felt at the end).

For those expecting a lot of dog interaction there wasn't as much as the previous book and in fact I would say Zoe's sex toy business got more page time than her dog. However, this book had some humorous moments and a nice mystery. Zoe just didn't work for me personally but I'm sure a lot of others will enjoy this quirky romance.

3.5 Stars ~ Rounded
Zoe has a good life: selling ‘personal products’ for Pure Pleasure, Freddy her new little adopted Doxie and a wedding planning business that keeps her busy and on her toes. After her last relationship of six years ago went south, she’s given up on men and doesn’t believe in fairy tale endings- but this particular wedding just may take the cake. From a missing groomsman to every conceivable mishap that one could possibly imagine – she’s up against it from the start.

In comes Levi – a rock star who seems to charm Freddy and find Zoe more than attractive. With her decision to forego men and relationships, Zoe doesn’t even attempt to encourage his advances, but there is something. Something there. And, when Zoe starts to have mysterious catastrophes happen that affect her business, Levi is there – protecting, desiring and completely working his way past her defenses. With Zoe’s trust issues, Freddy, appearances from earlier characters in their relationships and the unveiling of the mystery person behind all of the upheaval, the story moves forward with plenty of room for laughs.

Overall, Zoe was the most intriguing yet least pulled together heroine in this series: completely torn between herself and her beliefs in what she should be in each situation. The contradictions and fast-switching between behaviors and beliefs are enough to bring whiplash. This does, however, wear a bit thin in the midpoint of the story, as challenges and responses seem to appear simply to add words and don’t really show any growth or new choices. But, throughout the story, the lightness and humor, even in the darker moments with all the sabotage, there is a determination and optimism that she puts forward. And you can’t help but love the little dog and the joy he brings, even when he’s focusing his attention on Levi. Levi’s intentions are pure when it comes to Zoe, and he’s nothing if not persistent even in the face of overwhelming discouragement. And he’s determined to discover the saboteur and keep Zoe and Freddy safe, proving himself over and over again.

An intriguing installment that brings the series full circle with returning characters in their relationships that have grown, the sense of humor and personalities shown by the dogs, and the slow growth of the relationship.

I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

HOW TO PLAN A KILLER WEDDING
Canadian author Casey Griffin brings readers a lighthearted blend of love and mystery with A Wedding Tail, the third novel in her Rescue Dog Romance series. Cynical wedding planner Zoe Plum plans perfect weddings for happy couples. After her groom left her waiting at the altar six years earlier, she locked her battered heart behind a wall and avoided involvement with men. When handsome, romantic musician Levi Dolson serves as a last-minute groomsman for a wedding party, Zoe is definitely attracted to him. Unfortunately for Levi, she’s equally determined not to acknowledge how she feels.

Focused, deceptively easygoing Levi is committed to prying the real Zoe out from behind the happily-single façade she shows the world. He’s convinced she’s the woman for him, but can't get her to admit their connection goes beyond the physical. He easily charms her cute little dachshund Freddy, but Zoe isn’t as easily swayed.

When a series of assaults on Zoe’s business, wedding parties and vehicle threaten her safety, she’s shaken and turns to Levi for help. Coping with the puzzling and mysterious threats draws them closer together and when all seems lost, Levi and Freddy are all that stand between Zoe and danger. What’s a girl to do when confronted with a gorgeous man and an adorable dog, determined to rescue her from both evil intent and not-so-happy singlehood? Could Zoe be ready to plan her own wedding?

This quirky, often hilarious novel boasts a charming cast of characters, buttressed by a solid mystery plot and plenty of sexual tension.

This book was just the diversion I needed. What is more fun than weddings...and dogs? Throw in a little suspense and you have the perfect recipe for an interesting story that keeps you turning the pages! This is a fun, cute series that I have very much enjoyed reading. Casey Griffin never disappoints! I definitely recommend!

All of the wild and zany misfortunes happening to Zoe were a little bit on the far-fetched side, but I still thought this book was a great addition to the rescue dog romance series. I've been enjoying them so far, and this one was no exception.

A Wedding Tail brings us an unique story that at times engaged me and at others, annoyed me. Not in a horrible way, simply that “girl, get over yourself” kind of way that we’ve all run into in some stories. Zoe has issues in her past, events that turned her into the woman she is today. A woman who needs no man, thank you very much. And that fact was made loud and clear, several times. There were points where I wondered why in the world Levi is sticking around to take her snarky, rude complete attitude. So I guess you could say I was of two minds about Zoe. There were times that I liked her and was totally on her side – then there were the moments when my head went “you did not just do/say/think that”. I’m glad she got her own happy ever after but the road to that sweet moment was a rough, bumpy off-road adventure to travel for both Zoe and Levi.

The mystery as to who and why someone was messing with Zoe’s business and life is full of twists and turns. I’m sure there are mystery buffs who got it right away, but I didn’t know who it was til the reveal. And that’s okay, I like my mystery parts to be… well, mysterious.

All told, I loved Levi, liked Zoe, adored a sweet little dachshund that stole the whole thing and overall enjoyed A Wedding Tail. If you like snarky heroines then Zoe is your girl. I wish I could have liked her more, but sometimes I’m more on the hero’s side than anyone else.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

Griffin mixes contemporary romance with suspense in her most recent novel, with delightful results. Zoe Plum, a wedding planner, finds her business sabotaged - and even worse, her life on the line. She teams up unwillingly with a hunky musician to find out who's targeting her - and maybe make her own connection. There's a good mix of humor, steamy romance, and suspense, which made this a quick, fun read.

I have read all in this series by Casey Griffin, loving each story; the cute covers an added bonus. A Wedding Tail is the best yet. This book as it all, romance, comical mishaps, a bit of a mystery, lovely complex main characters, and dachshunds (love these dogs).

The beginning is a wedding planner’s nightmare. Life may look to calm down, that is look only because the action never does. In fact, this is the fastest pace plot of the three novels in the series. I especially like seeing the couples from the previous books again as well as seeing Zoe’s life go from bad to worse to finally great.

This is a perfect summertime or anything read. You are reminded it is darkest before the dawn so don’t give up on yourself, your dreams or your ability to love and be loved. I will say it again; Zoe and Levi are great but I love those dogs.

This is a great book; this is the third book in the Rescue Dog Romance series and is written by Casey Griffin. It’s no secret that Zoe doesn’t believe in fairy tales, but that doesn’t stop her from wanting to make sweet music with Levi. While she’s convinced she doesn’t need a man, when someone starts setting one trap after the next to make sure she never plans a wedding ever again, she might need Levi in more ways than she could have imagined. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

She's a wedding planner and she makes a point of always being in control This wedding isn't going well though. The bride has gained weight and the dress doesn't fit, the parents are having a cake fight with bridal cake in the middle, and the organist is sick. The horse the bride wants to ride away from the wedding on got sick. And the flower girl is letting all the doves out of their cages too early. Then the best man objects to the wedding and says he loves the bride...

St. Martin's Press and Net Galley allowed me to read this book for review (thank you). It will be published August 1st.

Zoe was left at the altar by her fiance, so she works hard to make everyone's wedding happen perfectly. She can't save that one, though. And her troubles are just beginning.

She has someone trying to kill her. She has a man she lusts for. Her assistant is stealing her clients. And her competitor is playing dirty. What a mess!

She and her adopted puppy almost get blown up. She has suspects but no way to prove anything. When she figures out what's going on, it looks like she might die for it...

This story has humor, embarrassing situations, and lots of sex in it. Zoe sells sex toys as a second business. It was a bit much for me. I'm old fashioned would rather imagine than be told. The killer was no one I would have imagined, so the mystery held together. And somehow, so did Zoe and her new love. Life might settle down for her yet.

Another great installment featuring fun romance, and the great breed of dog, the Dachsund. This book features a wedding planner.... That doesn't like weddings! I thought that was hilarious. However, things start to change when she meets a promising man. Also her wedding planning is in danger when it appears someone is sabotaging her work. Mystery, love and of course dschshund make this a great read.

Although this is the third book in this series, it is only the second I have read however, I don't feel like I missed a thing with the relationship between Zoe, Piper, and Addison. They are a tight group, best friends and there for each other. Zoe is a wedding planner and this is her HEA. She has given up on love as everyone she loves leaves her. Levi is a laid back musician wanting a relationship! It made for a fun story. It is a light romantic comedy with a bit of a mystery thrown in and I found it very enjoyable. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this book for an honest review.

This is a light pleasant romance with a little suspense thrown in. Zoe is beleaguered and besieged while trying to run her business. How ironic is it that she's a wedding planner? Totally but it does give her the opportunity to meet Levi. You'll be able to guess where this goes but not all the twists. It's the characters and the writing that makes Griffin's latest a winner. You will root for both Zoe and Levi, who are more than they seem. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. Very relaxing entertaining read.

Synopsis:

Wedding planner Zoe Plum has brides from all walks of life vying for her services. The only problem is: happily-single Zoe doesn’t actually enjoy weddings―but that might change when she meets the singer of a local band playing at one of her weddings. His name is Levi Dolson and he’s too gorgeous for his own good. And now he’s gone ahead and charmed her new dachshund. . .

But just how far is Zoe’s hidden enemy willing to go? The only thing Levi knows for sure is that he will do everything in his power to protect the woman who brings music to his soul. Maybe that will prove to Zoe, once and for all, that he is a man worthy of her heart. . . (Goodreads)

Review:

The characters are well rounded and well developed. Zoe was a hardworking woman who has a lot of stuff on her plate. She owns a wedding planner business, she sells pleasure toys for Pure Pleasure and she has to help take care of her mom. And when things start falling apart with her business and she begins to have death threats against her, she does not know where to turn or how to get her life back on track. Levi Dolson, a missing groomsman from her disaster wedding and a singer for a rock band, is someone she can turn to for help and trust. I think Zoe could have been nicer to Levi, I got a little tired of her being mean to him. I am not even sure why he bothered with her during the first part of their relationship. I also got annoyed with the fact that Zoe kept referring to her “silicone friends” and how often she used them. After the tenth time of reading about it I wanted to scream. I liked Zoe and her core group of friends, I thought they acted like best friends should. And who wouldn’t love Freddie, her adopted wiener dog. I just wish that he, and the other dogs, would have been in the book more.

The writing style flows smoothly and the book is an easy read. I liked the fact that this was not only a love story but there was a mystery to solve. There were suspects to consider for Zoe’s stalking and unfortunate events and I did not figure out who was responsible until it was revealed at the end.
I would recommend this well crafted book to anyone who enjoys romantic comedies. This book is a love story that has a lot of humor, good characters, suspense and wiener dogs.

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a honest review. I would like to thank NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read and review this book.

3.5 stars.

This is another cute, fun romantic comedy with a fair heap of suspense thrown in for good measure. Although, when I say fun, I also mean stressful because, my word, is there anything in Zoe’s life that doesn’t go wrong in this book? I was alternatively appalled and infuriated at the way people get away with treating her, especially at the start. Whether it’s the petty cruelties of her chief rival or the out-of-line behaviour from a bridezilla, surely there were grounds for harassment charges and someone should have been doing something to back her up!

But when I wasn’t raging against everything that went wrong, I also managed to enjoy it. Zoe is an independent, ambitious woman who is determined to prove that she can stand alone. She doesn’t lean on anyone and she definitely doesn’t need a man. She’s confident and competent and if she also carries small toy animals around in her purse for occasional comfort, no one needs to know. Sure, some of her coping methods aren’t particularly healthy (bottling up all her emotions to be dealt with later), but it works for her. Or it did, until brides, competitors, manipulative mothers and serious sabotage threaten to take her out at the knees.

And then along comes Levi, who is quite the conundrum. Actually, he’s a complete fraud, but in a mushy rather than illegal way. I quite liked how the commitment-phobic man, relationship-seeking woman trope was completely flipped in this book. Although there were times when Levi’s beta good guy persona got a tiny bit too much. His laid-back, deeply romantic soul was also at odds with the determined way he pursues Zoe in the face of absolutely no encouragement whatsoever. I was also a little disappointed at how she effectively turned her strong, single woman struggling with an unholy amount of outside issues into woman needing a relationship to really feel whole. If it had been more about Levi being someone who really fit her and that she could build a lasting partnership with, sure, but that wasn’t the feeling I was left with and that disappointed me.

A bit like the lack of dogs. Zoe does get a four-legged pal as things progress, and he is quite the quirky little character, but compared to the other books in the series this wasn’t really a Rescue Dog Romance, just a crazy romance with a dog in it occasionally.

Despite all that, I still enjoyed it and the mystery was pretty good. I didn’t really feel much of a threat level or a sense of impending doom for most of the book, but it does a great job of throwing the reader off the scent at times. It also did a good job of bringing the previous couples into the story in a way that shouldn’t alienate new readers, while still pleasing existing fans. Although, again, there were times when I felt Zoe was treated unfairly by those who should have supported and/or trusted her. However, all things considered, it definitely wraps up the series in fun, madcap style, even if it wasn’t my favourite of the bunch.

Zoe is an up and coming wedding planner who has been doing well until the wedding screw up of the year when the best man stops the wedding by saying he's in love with the bride. Things go from bad to worse from that day forward as her foray into the biggest wedding convention of the year is destroyed by a woman who has always been horribly jealous of her success and, the chronically obnoxious and constantly in your face reporter, Holly. Fortunately, Zoe ends up stuck in a booth next to Levi, a singer who makes his living with a band who does a lot of weddings. Levi is always there whenever Zoe turns around, much to her dismay. Zoe's problems continue to get worse by the day, with her van and everything inside being vandalized, her brake lines being cut, her office exploding , etc. The problem is that Zoe has already planned the wedding of the year for her best friend and fiance, who is a very well known and ultra rich celebrity. Nothing can go wrong with this wedding, right???!!! WRONG. Zoe's OCD tendencies and her closed off heart keep fighting tooth and nail to keep Zeke out but, he is just as determined to make her realize that she can have HER happily ever after, too!!!.

This is the third book in the Rescue Dog Romance series and it's a wonderful story with just the right dose of humor and romance sprinkled with a touch of mystery. In this story if things can go wrong they will, if something can be misunderstood it will be, and if you can keep from laughing out loud you're stronger than me! Zoe Plum is hilarious. A wedding planner who actually hates weddings! After being left at the altar years prior she's still blissfully single and plans on staying that way. Then she meets Levi Dolson, a member of the band playing at one of her weddings, and he makes her start thinking that maybe her keep men at arms length approach at life might need to change. He did charm her cute little pup!

A fun read that was completely entertaining. I would definitely recommend it.
