I loved the characters and the storyline development of this book. It was absolutely one of my favorites so far and I can't wait to delve in to the next one that this author writes. The storyline was simple, enjoyable, and entertaining.

This was a new author for me and I'm willing to give her another go even though I didn't enjoy this book. The story and characters just didn't pull me in or give me a connection like I was apart of the story. I can't but my finger on a specific instance why this book made me feel this way.
Gifted read from Netgalley for an honest review.

Lucas Tate and his brothers just lost their adoptive father, Noah Tate. After Noah's death each of the three brothers received a letter from their father with his last wishes. In Lucas' letter his father tells him to look after Grace Riley who is the widow of one of his brother-in-arms.

Grace Riley doesn't realize how much danger she is in when she meets Lucas again. Her late husband had some shady dealings going on when he passed and the men he was dealing with are out for blood.

Lucas and Grace find themselves not only in danger from the bad guys but also in danger of falling for one another.

This story had soooooo much potential but it just didn't connect for me, unfortunately. I had high hopes after the first book but this one left me feeling flat.

I would recommend reading this series in the order the books were released due to crossover but it can be read as a standalone if you wish to do so.

Happy Reading!!!

This book was better than the first because I felt that the story flowed better in this one. Plus, I found the characters more relatable than the first two in the first book.

This book just didn't grab me. The characters seemed flat somehow.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for providing me with the ARC in exchange for my honest review and opinions.

This author's books are a hit and miss for me. This was a miss, though I liked the previous book in the series. I just couldn't connect with the characters in this story.

When I started reading this one, I thought that it was the first one. I had to go back into my archive to make sure I wasn't reading the wrong book. I know they were different now, but man are they similar. I really wasn't a huge fan because they were so similar. I usually enjoy these kinds of books, but I'm in a slump, and this book did nothing to get me out of it.

Lucas is in charge of watching over Grace, thanks to a final letter from his father after he passed. Being a SEAL cut him off from many emotions, but Grace brings those out in him. I enjoyed this story and characters, and even without reading book 1 wasn't lost. good read!

This is book #2, in the Tate Brothers series. This book can be read as a standalone novel. For reader enjoyment and understanding, I recommend reading this amazing series in order.

Lucas wants to keep Grace safe. If there is anyone who can do this, he can. Since they already have a history of tragedy between them he feels it prudent to keep his distance from her emotionally.

Grace knows that Lucas the means and training to keep her safe physically. What about her heart? She has already known tragedy and loss. Is it wise to find herself attracted to the same type of man again?

This book moves at a fast pace. I like the growing tension and how it is laid out. The characters clash and the temperature rises. Makes for a sexy slow burn, but they belong together.

I fell even more in love with Jackie Ashenden’s stories, characters, and writing style. She knows how to knock you out with inspiration, heat, and heart. She has the ability to write a story that completely pulls you in. You can feel every emotion she wants you to feel. This story is just one more reason why I devour everyone on Jackie's titles I can get my hands on.

Awesome romantic suspense story. Lucas and Grace are hot together.

The Tate Brothers have been raised to protect what is theirs. Lucas is a Navy SEAL and a trained sniper. Lucas' book was awesome! I can't say enough about this book. I can't wait to read Wolf's story!

A book full of nail biting suspense, emotions galore and last, but not least, steamy, hot, sexy scenes. Of course, any book with a SEAL is at the top of my must read list.

I gotta admit that I wasn't quite sure how I felt about Lucas for over half of this book. He is so freaking INTENSE and brooding and I just wasn't sure if I could deal with him.

I stuck with it because I really wanted to know how he was going to get Grace out of trouble and how they were going to address the attraction that had been brewing between them for a while. Plus, I really enjoyed Grace's character and her story as an artist.

The times that Lucas let himself lose control with Grace and give in to his feelings (physical and emotional) were ridiculously hot and sexy and I loved seeing all of his walls come tumbling down.

These Tate men are hard nuts to crack and I also enjoyed learning more about Wolf. I absolutely cannot wait for his book!

This was a good story; I didn’t like this story as much as the first but it was still an enjoyable read. Author Jackie Ashenden writes great military men. Although, I felt she mentioned Luke’s military background way too often, which is why I think it was not as good as the first for me. But let’s get passed that and move on. This story is about Lucas, whom we met in the first story. Due to a crappy childhood he has become cold, calculating, and a natural marksman, he is also the best looking of the Tate brother’s. He’s been sent to protect a woman named Grace; unbeknownst to her, her dead husband has put a target on her head. I liked Grace she is full of fire, she has the right amount of heat to warm Luke up. This story gives you great suspense, emotional drama, and some hot sexy scenes. I look forward to reading the next in the series; its Wolf’s story and he intrigues me! I give this story 4.5 stars.

Grace and Lucas have a complicated relationship to say the least. The conflict that precipitates their deepening relationship makes an enjoyable story. I liked the suspense aspect to this story. It did take me a little bit to warm up to Lucas but I did and I'm glad I gave him a chance.

Alpha men and hard to win hearts. This is the perfect ingredient for a great book. I was drawn in from the first page and didn’t want it to end. The author spins a tale that keeps you on edge while cheering and sometimes yelling at the screen.

Lucas is a wicked man whom any woman with a beating heart would want to test drive. Lucas is the definition of a gruff stoic man. He may have started out life with a raw deal, but getting adopted by a rich man did give him a boost up. He never took it for granted which is what makes him more attractive. Of course, being a Navy SEAL also makes him quite appealing.

Lucas is sent on a path by his dead father that sends him in a talespin. The man other than his adopted brothers he thought he could trust had a secret that killed him. When Lucas uncovers the dirty dealing and it leads to his friend's widow, Grace, things start to get interesting.

I enjoyed this second book in the series better than the first one. This book can also be read as a standalone. In this one, Lucas is a more likeable character. He has an interesting code and it is fair. He may grudgingly help out. The important thing is, he is loyal and he keeps his promises. From a lover material, this is big, especially for Grace. Grace is a sweet woman. She's an artist who seems kind of unmemorable. Her interactions with Lucas are sweet. They were a bit too tame for me. Please take my gauge with a grain of salt as I read graphic sex books. Still, the tentative romance between the two characters is cute because they both think they shouldn't act upon it. Yet their chemistry is too strong and they succumb rapidly. They should because they are perfect for each other. Lucas isn't as heavy handed has his brother which is nice. Grace is also more mature in some ways.

For those who have just tried this series from Ms. Ashenden, I recommend her Billionaire Fairytales series. This one is recommended for romance readers who like military men with a hidden cache of richness in both money and character.
