Mind Games is a well constructed, fast paced story which kept me involved throughout. Although I am not a fan of stories based on telepathic communication, I did find myself absorbed in the story and characters as they evolved.

Iris Johansen has mystified her readers with over 20 books and now she’s provided another one that is going to truly satisfy her longtime fans with answers to some of those questions that have been plaguing us, keeping us up at night, causing us to cook so distracted we end up using salt instead of sugar nearly killing people with apple pie gone wrong. Don’t worry she’s still able to keep those open ended questions going in that delightful way to drive you crazy until her next book comes out.

Mind Game allows us to spend time in Scotland with Jane Macguire, Eve & Joe’s daughter in case you didn’t remember. Her character and personality are most on display in her interactions with the characters around her. A young woman in desperate need of help and Seth Caleb who just screws with her; he gets called by other characters as either Seth or Caleb which can get confusing so beware. Johansen is a pro at fleshing out her characters to feel like real people with believable emotions, motivations, actions to the point you actually care what happens to them.

My only really big, annoying negative was she seemed to be watching too many X-Men movies because she was dishing out ‘special abilities’ like candy to more characters than was necessary. Sometimes it got a little out of hand to the point you were almost taken out of the story because the supernatural elements seemed a bit much for the genre this book is supposed to be in.

Due to her adept writing she’s even managed to turn Scotland into its own type of character. Be prepared to have your credit card waiting because by the time you get done reading this and taking a visual journey through Scotland thanks to her vivacious writing you’ll be wanting to travel there in person.

Occasionally a bit of dialogue or plot runs a bit long for my taste but overall she keeps the pace fast and desirable so you want to keep reading. If you’ve read enough of her books you know she’s got a good hand with danger, mystery, action and family/friendship roles and this novel continues with those themes.

If you’re a newcomer who is curious about her latest and don’t feel like reading 20+ books to get here it’s written decent enough that you can enjoy her style so hopefully you’ll end up going back to the starting point so her characters and their journey will have more meaning for you.

Eve Duncan's Jane didn't start with an easy life but with Eve and Joe Quinn she has family, love, friendship, support, and understanding, Her life as an adult is forever fascinating particularly when you bring in Caleb and that magnetic attraction that is always lurking in their relationship. June is once again involved with her Scottish friends in a story that brings all Johnansen's exciting story elements and characters to life. Her characters are family, her reader's family. Mrs. Johansen once again tops herself with an absolute winner. A MUST READ.

It's hard to believe this is the 22nd Eve Duncan book. She's been around a long time and author Iris Johansen has made her grow and change. Eve is a relatively minor character in this story, it's more about her grown daughter Jane traveling to Scotland to explore her past. Many characters from past books visit this book. Eve and Joe still have some surprises left to keep you turning the pages and anticipating the next step in their lives.

Page after page of adventure and suspense. I couldn't wait to finish this book and yet didn't want it to end. I love this series.

It was so nice having another wonderful book in the Eve Duncan series to read. I loved catching up with Jane. This book was as great as the others in the series. There is lots of mystery, thrilling adventures, and a bit of paranormal woven in. Thank you so much to NetGalley and St. Martins Press for an ARC in return for an honest review.

I must confess that I have not read all the books in this series and the ones that I have read have been out of order. While that is my problem and that of the author it did not necessarily take away from the story.

This is a mix of good old fashion mystery/thriller with some supernatural elements thrown in. Iris Johansen is a pro and it is easy to see why! Start at the beginning with the Eve Duncan series, I know that you will not be disappointed.

My thanks to Netgalley and St Martin's Press for this advanced readers copy.

Iris Johansen's Mind Game has is another strong story about Jane & Caleb. Though her plots are always interesting I feel the attraction between Jane & Caleb make the book exciting and interesting. There is always a mystery and challenge within their relationship or a pull together and then apart. Both need each other and are afraid to commit and accept what thy mean to each other.
Hopefully as the ending of Mind Game starts to show they both moght admit their attraction and start a relationship.

The latest Eve Duncan novel, this one around adopted daughter Jane. While part thriller, like the past few books it focuses on supernatural abilities a great deal. Caleb, who I want to like, just doesn't feel real and the dialogue seemed stilted. Not the best.

I would like to thank Netgalley and St Martin's Press for an advance copy of Mind Game, the 22nd novel to feature forensic artist Eve Duncan and her family.

Eve's daughter is going back to Scotland to help in the search for hidden Celtic gold that she and her friends have been searching for but she is troubled by psychic messages she has been receiving from an unknown woman she calls Lisa, a woman who is in grave danger. She teams up with the mysterious Seth Caleb, a dangerous man who has been pursuing her for years, to help Lisa.

I thoroughly enjoyed Mind Game which is a rattling good read with plenty of action, weird supernatural aspects and a dash of romance. I must admit that I found the supernatural elements of the novel, Caleb's ability to control the blood flow in other people, psychic connections and Jane's dreams of Celtic queen Cira, extremely difficult to swallow but as the novel hinges on them I went with the flow.

The plot is well thought out, especially the ending, and it had me hooked as I kept turning the pages to find out what was coming next. Like all good thrillers the protagonists do a bit of globetrotting so luckily Caleb has a private jet. I don't think you get much sense of the locations but the action makes up for it. I loved the solution in Dubai which is the elegant resolution of a difficult problem.

Eve takes a backseat in this novel as it is all about Jane who is smart, feisty and psychic. She is close to her adopted parents, Eve and Joe, and would do anything for them. The emphasis on their closeness and family love is a bit cloying at times as it is mentioned constantly. In sharp contrast Seth Caleb is a solitary loner with a sarcastic edge, like a Mills and Boon hero with extra skills!

Mind Game is a good read which held my attention throughout so I have no hesitation in recommending it.

Mind Game was SO good!!! I love these characters and they feel as if they are friends. I really enjoyed that the book was centered around Jane, but that everyone else was mentioned or involved in the story line. I absolutely cannot wait for the next one to see what happens with Jane and Seth! Don't hesitate to read!

Jane, Eve Duncan’s daughter, is being haunted by a young lady who’s managed to invade her dreams. So, she must get to the bottom of why this is happening and what it means. This is an awesome spinoff from the Eve Duncan series and I really look forward to the next book. I’m really loving Johansen in the paranormal genre. Extraordinary read!

Thank you NetGalley for a free preview of this book. Jane Macguire keeps dreaming about a girl who is in danger and with each dream, the girl shows more bruises as well as desperation. Jane is afraid the girl will soon be killed. Seth Caleb also comes back into Jane's life and we find out there is a link to this mysterious girl. When i began reading this book, i soon realized that this was an Eve Duncan novel and I wasn't sure that i wanted to continue reading. But, i found myself not being able to put the book down. This book was fast paced, and kept me on edge. The only thing that i don't like about these series is that one story ends and you know another one will soon follow. I also feel like i have to go back and read previous books to find out who all of the characters are that are present in this novel.

Another great one from the author. Mystery, suspense, and they finally did it. A book I recommend to all.

Twenty-two books in and finally we have a....no, I'm not telling. But there could be several ways to finish that sentence and all could be right. Could be, because frankly, my dear, Johansen is never in any hurry to end a good story line. Even though she is expert at adding new lines that just, well…hear that giant sucking noise? That's me being sucked back in and enjoying every moment.
This is mostly Jane Macguire’s book. Eve and Joe’s adopted daughter all growed (sic) up. She is back in Scotland helping to find Cira’s treasure.
But she is also being bothered by a pesky young woman demanding her help. Only this pest is reaching out to Jane through her drawings and dreams. Jane would like to help her since she seems to be in dire straits, but she is not giving Jane much to go on.
Jane receives some clarity when Seth Caleb shows up. Because that is what Seth does, clarifies everything. Okay, I’m lying because he just messes with Jane’s head.
The locales and the trips back in the dark mists of time (literally dark mists) are fascinating. It’s hard not to want to book a trip to Scotland after you finish this book.
The characters are all beautiful, intelligent, with amazing talents, and some with mysterious powers. Despite all of those negatives, it’s easy to care about these characters. They all have great heart and it’s been great to watch their journey through the years. Not a problem for first time readers, it’s easy to figure out a who’s who.
Occasionally the writing, especially when family members or friends have heart to heart talks gets a bit mawkish, bogs down a usually fast paced story.
With Johansen we know what to expect, family, danger, intrigue, sex and maybe hints of new story lines. Nothing wrong with this, it’s why we follow beloved authors. For newcomers to the author, there is nothing wrong with starting here and then going back to earlier books. This is a great series, with other series branching out from the original Eve Duncan books. I’m already looking forward to the book following this one.

Iris Johansen books are wonderful. I love her characters and the emotion that she puts in all of her books. This is a long series but each book just gets better and better. I love that we got to learn more about Caleb in this story
