Aurora was exiled to the country to live with her aunt after being caught in a compromising position. However now her stepmother needs her help in uncovering the identity of a blackmailer. Rory needs to solve this mystery fast as her sister is about to secure a marriage to wealthy, titled husband who will not accept any hint of scandal to their name.
The man believed to be the blackmailer is the strict and coldly reserved Lucas Vale, the Marquess of Dashell. Rory doesn't believe it is possible for someone as honourable as Lucas to be capable of blackmail but she gets a job in his household nonetheless. But the more time she spends working for Lucas, the more she starts to see him as more than a cold aristocrat.
I liked how Lucas seemed to transform from aloof and cold to a warm person. I also enjoying seeing the return of the ruby slippers.
I thought it was adorable how Lucas and Rory were together especially as he always had feelings for her.

Didn't like Lucas the love interest and found the story very slow.

What a lovely read! I truly enjoyed Aurora and Lucas story. While it wasn’t the highly heated, and passionate stories that I am used to reading, I must say it was a wonderful break and a satisfying story to read in a lazy afternoon.
As previously described, our heroine is summoned by her step-mother to help her find the person that has been blackmailing her, by threaten to publish love letters that belonged to her step-mother and lover. The suspect is Lucas, since the lover is his departed father. Aurora finds a way to infiltrate his home, by becoming his mom’s companion, and this starts the chase for the person that may be behind this, and takes you through different roads, hinting at who could it be, and switching gears on you.

I find it interesting that Aurora would step up and decide to help her step-mother even after being banished to the country side for being caught with a married diplomat and causing quite a scandal. She was also not treated very well by her stepmother while her father was still alive. I guess I should also mention there is a bit of a spin on the Cinderella story, and while Aurora is not running at the stroke of midnight, she does get to borrow a pair of special, magical slippers. It’s an interesting twist to this story and one I have not seen before in other romance novels.
Lucas, was an engaging hero. Maybe not your make you sigh with longing, but was interesting enough to want to cheer him on and wish for a good ending to this love story. I loved his mom! She was a hoot and really enjoyed how Aurora and her aunt were able to make her appreciate life again.
While I did not find myself up to all hours of the night reading this, I did find it engaging. It kept me at a good pace. It did surprise me at the end since we were gifted with a nice twist of happily ever after for these two.

This was a fun fairytale retelling. For me, the only downfall was that the mains lead is Aurora or better known through the book as Rory. This put me off a little, but that is just personal taste. Despite this, this was enjoyable and I would recommend others. The book was quick, fun and romantic read and would be would be enjoyed by all those who love historical romance novels.

I was debating over how I would rate this book for days. Trying to decide if I liked it enough to recommend to my blog followers. My answer, in the end, is a reluctant no. The main reason can be summed up in a name: Lucas Vale. I didn't like the hero. In fact, I frequently detested him. The way he treated the heroine was repugnant for much of the book, and though he had moments where I thought he could be redeemed, it wasn't so in the end. He treated her like he thought she was lower than dirt, like she was a whore to be used all because of a mistake 8 years ago. I loved the heroine, she saved the book from becoming a total disaster. She was witty, strong, and a pleasure. I loved how she rallied Lucas' mom to get out of bed, and her love for her sister was beautiful. She stuck up for herself, though I frequently wished she was harder on Lucas. It's too bad her hero was such an unmitigated ass.

A great choice for lovers of the historical romance genre! A quick, romantic read that will have the reader looking for more books by Olivia Drake.

Another lovely romance in this Cinderella inspired series called a Cinderella Sisterhood. Lucas and Rory meet eight years after Rory's banishment to the countryside after a scandal. The attraction between both of them is instantaneous. Both characters were well written and their story was charming.

* I received this ARC from NetGalley and the publisher for an honest review*

This is the sixth book in the Cinderella Sisterhood series by Olivia Drake and while a new author to me, the genre is one of my favorites. The story begins with an exiled Lady Aurora (Rory) Paxton living with her aunt because of her scandalous behavior during her debut season. She received a visit and a pair of slippers from one of the leading ladies of the ton who informs that Rory’s stepmother is being blackmailed and requires her assistance. Upon re-entering London, she discovers that not only is her stepmother unchanged from years before, but her half-sister is promised to marry an older Duke. To discover the person behind the blackmail, Rory works undercover as a companion to the mother of Lucas, Marquess of Dashell. And as one might suppose, Rory and Lucas develop an attraction, guided somewhat by the elder women in their families. Together they discover who is behind the blackmail, which leads to their HEA.

I really wanted to love this book but the tension between the hero and heroine was missing for me. The stepmother was a rather annoying character, who did not, in my humble opinion, redeem herself at the end of the story. The one saving grace was the friendly banter and busybody natures of Lucas’ mother and Rory’s aunt. They provided humorous scenes and just enough sass for me to really enjoy their characters. Many readers will enjoy this book, for it is a quick read with a familiar structure.

THE SCANDALOUS FLIRT is another in a long line of Cinderella stories. Aurora Paxton was once the belle of the ball, but a scandalous mistake has her ruined. Her family will not have her in their house and Rory is banished to the country to live in penury with an Aunt. But ruby slippers and a fairy godmother arrive and soon Auroroa is summoned back to London by her stepmother, who is being blackmailed. With the help of the dashing Lucas Vale, Marquess of Dashell, Aurora is sure to have her Cinderella ending.

I read an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. Aurora Paxton was caught in a scandalous embrace 8 years ago and has been living in exile with her Aunt ever since. Rory is gifted a pair of ruby dancing slippers and thus becomes part of Olivia Drake’s Cinderella Sisterhood series. This book can be read as a stand alone, but I enjoyed the other books in the series as well. With her lucky slippers in hand Rory returns to London to rescue her semi-wicked stepmother from blackmail and her half-sister from marriage to a much older Duke. In her search for the blackmailer she has a number adventures, faces up to her roguish seducer, and finds true love after all.

I always think that it's funny, if a girl is ruined, everyone assumes that she is no longer a virgin.
Rory seems to have a few ladies playing the part of the Fairy Godmother roll. Good thing because she needs all the help she can get. So many people stand in the way of her happily ever after.
The Scandalous Flirt, is a great addition to the Cinderella Sisterhood series.

Lady Milford and her magical garnet-red slippers are at work again in The Scandalous Flirt. The slippers bring Aurora (Rory) and Lucas, Lord Dashell, together in a delightfully romantic search for Rory’s step-mother’s love letters. The stolen letters just happen to be from Lucas’s father.

Eight years prior to their search for the letters, Lucas was so drawn to Rory that he danced with her during her debut but was too tongue tied to converse with her during the dance. Shortly following that dance, Rory was banished to the country for being caught in a compromising situation with a married man. She did not know he was married.

Current day brings Rory to town and into the employ of Lucas as companion to his mother. She and her step-mother believe he is the one who has stolen them and is blackmailing her for jewelry and funds. There is an immediate connection between Rory and Lucas as they are drawn together. Almost immediately, there is a trust between them that speaks of their connection.

The secondary characters play into the situation between them with Lucas’s mother being bed-ridden and kind of grumpy. She literally scares away the young lady whom Lucas has thought to marry due to her dowry. Rory stands up to the dowager marchioness knowing the dowager just needs a friend more than anything. Rory’s aunt with whom she had been living these eight years is an old friend of the duchess. They rebuild their friendship quickly helping Rory spend more time with Lucas.

Rory’s half-sister is engaged to a duke twice her age. Rory tries to help her sister understand she does not need to marry someone she does not love and certainly not to please her mother.

Among all of this is Rory sends articles to a local London paper under the pen name Miss Cellany. She takes jabs at the ton and its view of marriage with her writing. It does not take long for Lucas to see she is intelligent and very forward thinking, while being put out with Miss Cellany and her writing.

You will love this addition to the Cinderella Sisterhood series of the search for the stolen letters. Miss Drake makes sure that each of Lady Milford’s ‘projects’ are different so that each story is unique and each romance is special in the use of the garnet-red slippers.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martins Press for the ARC of this book.

I managed to finish this book in a matter of hours so that should speak to the readability of the book. The book itself is part of a "fairy tale" inspired series and this book is very loosely based on Sleeping Beauty. You don't have to have read the previous books in order to pick this one up which was nice considering this was the 6th book in the series. The plot is somewhat predictable but there were some twists thrown in that kept it from being too predictable. The one thing I will say is for being based on "Sleeping Beauty" there isn't m u c h similarity between the fairy tale and this book. The main characters name is Aurora and she mentions "being asleep" emotionally once or twice in the book so if you're looking for a re-telling this is not the book but if you're looking for a quick, easy romance novel then this is a good choice.

I loved Lucas and Rory's story. If you love a romance with some mystery and a road to redemption this is the book for you. Lucas and Rory have chemistry you can feel in each page you read. Once you start it, you won't be able to put it down.

This is the first Olivia Drake novel I've read and admittedly it was fairly standard. Hero and heroine don't particularly like one another but are forced by circumstances to foil some dastardly plot. In this novel the heroine, Aurora, who was disgraced a few years ago after being caught in a compromising position with a married foreign ambassador returns to London as a result of a meddling grande dame to solve the mystery behind who is blackmailing her selfish, greedy stepmother. Her no.1 suspect is the Marquess of Dashell, a seemingly cold man who she knows from when she made her come out several years ago.

This was a middling novel with the usual strong and independent heroine and the cold but honourable hero who eventually come to realise their love for each other in the midst of their mystery solving. A good, solid read.

I enjoyed the blackmail aspect of this book. I was surprised toward the end with a story twist I didn't expect.

Aurora and Lucas are attracted to each other but fight it due to their circumstances. Aurora is a strong character and held her own in stressful social situations.

The story moves plot wise because there is much going on. The story could have gone a bit deeper into Aurora's and Lucas's feelings for each other.

Overall, I did enjoy this story.

This is the first time I've read a book from this author and I would read more of her work.

The Scandalous Flirt by Olivia Drake is an outstanding read. I was impressed with her writing from the start. The characters and their flaws made this piece epic. Scandal, theft, first love...and dire situations can be found within the pages. The heat only intensifies, as the plot thickens. Raw yet believable characters. Aurora Paxton is a tough heroine. She brilliant. I loved her wit. Strong and very outspoken on some matters. That part of her made me like her that much more. Then, there's the dashing Marquess, Lucas. He's very easy on the eyes. Makes every woman want to swoon on spot. Yet his never smiling and dark mood may keep the on he really wants away forever.

Aurora has been cast out of her society due to a man haven taken advantage of her. Now, eight years later, she has returned back home. But it's not under happy terms. Someone is blackmailing her stepmother. Her sister is forced to marry a rich man old enough to be her father. And she must go under disguise to see if Lucas really is the culprit behind her family's doom. The Scandalous Flirt takes on a wild ride. The journey was fun, hilarious, sweet, and engaging. I will never forget this tale.

Olivia Drake has delivered a promising story. The Scandalous Flirt is a must read for all. I loved it. I couldn't stop reading it. This, was one historical romance that gave me an unforgettable day of excitement. Overall, I highly recommend this novel to readers everywhere.

I wanted to really like this book, but after much thought, I give it a meh. I enjoyed the plot for the most part but had issues with the scandal, the eight years, and the insta-love.

The scandal was just dumb. SPOILER: The novel stated that those who witnessed the scandal were her father and the butler. I feel like that is something that could have been brushed under the rug, not something that merited exile.

Second, there are eight years in which the heroine is in exile. That is a LONG time. I feel it was extremely excessive to have that big of a time difference.

Lastly, this was too much insta-love, particularly on Rory's side. I feel like relationships take time, and this happened over the course of a single week.

Aside from that, it was a mildly entertaining plot.

Another lovely fairy tale by Olivia Drake. She doesn't disappoint. Those shoes of Lady Milford's do it again with a lovely story..

I like all of Olivia Drake's books and this is fun and entertaining too. I enjoy the burgeoning friendship between Lucas and Rory. It was a little hard to believe that he fell in love the first time he danced with her so that was unbelievable. I also did not think the blackmailers motives were that clear. We're they destitute and was it just ease that prompted the crime. I would have liked an epilogue to see how things fared in the future.
