The Bride Who Got Lucky by Janna MacGregor is a fabulous, well-written book. Ms MacGregor has given us a story that will squeeze your heart in the first chapter and have you captivated by the second chapter. The characters in this book are exactly what this story needs. Kudos to Ms MacGregor for her characters. Emma and Nick's story is filled with action, drama, humor and spicy sexy bits. This is one of those book you can't put down until you reach the end. I loved reading The Bride Who Got Lucky and look forward to reading more from Janna MacGregor in the future. The Bride Who Got Lucky is book 2 of the Cavensham Heiresses Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is book two in the Cavensham series. I just wasn't over the moon about this book. Nick was just a controlling jerk. He kept saying that he liked Emma then wanted to change her. That drove me insane. The story was just okay I didn't like that she never really stood up for herself.

First of all every thing about this book calls out to every bookworm out there, the cover,! I'm so glad for getting a copy of this. I loved reading it, it was a super fast read, it made me laugh out loud several of times, several!! I found it so funny and cute,

I wanted to like this book, I even went back and reread the prior book in the series, and had really liked these characters, and loved the H and h of this book as represented in that book. Somehow, in their own story, they just didn't work. The h is annoying and frustrating, the H is great, but too noble. And sometimes, it just doesn't seem realistic. The story is quite complicated. And seriously, for someone to sue for 400,00 pounds in that time period? Totally outrageous amounts, absurd. And petty lawsuits were unlikely in that time.

This was a 50/50 read for me (hence the 3 stars rating).
There were many things I enjoyed about this book. The overall tone was quite charming.
Emma's family was adorable and I enjoyed the connection they had with Nick as well. The love story itself was cute and I liked that Emma and Nick observed eachother for years before things got serious.

Unfortunately the writing was very amateurish. The pace was weird and the characters, especially Emma, weren't very consistent. Emma, 25 and a duke's daughter spoke and acted like a child. Her ideals were grand and fit of a mature lady but her behaviour spoke differently. She sounded 15 more often than not.

At last, the sensual parts of the story were almost comical. I don't want to give too much away but there were times where I was like "Make up your mind Author, is she worldly or is she not ? she can't be both !!". You'll see when you get to that part :)

All in all a cute read if you don't mind some eye rolling.

This is a terrific book about a young woman named Emma, daughter of a duke, raised in a happy family who is allowed many freedoms for a female of her time by her indulging parents. She has known Nick, heir to a dukedom, through her older brother for years. Nick is a man who did not have a happy youth and as an adult is a serious, rather lonely man. Emma becomes embroiled in seeking justice for a horrible wrong against her best friend and Nick, as a favor to Emma's brother, steps in to assess the situation.
This story had such an interesting plot and the characters were colorful as well. Nick and Emma are drawn together while engaging in intrigue and they definitely have more than a little spark! I highly recommend this book to readers of romance who want a book they cannot put down because they just need to turn the next page. Loved it!

I loved Janna MacGregor’s first book and this second one did not disappoint - bring on a third!

Emma Cavensham is head-strong, intelligent and independent, and what she doesn't need in her life is the meddling, cool-hearted Nicholas St. Mauer. But Nick thinks Emma needs someone to keep her out of trouble, and for the time being he'll step up to the role. Sparks fly, heads butt and tension mounts as these two struggle to balance their own desires against society's dictates and Emma's quest to avenge her friend, Lena, whose death she is convinced was caused by her abusive husband.

There are some really great themes in this story - I loved Emma's unwavering feminism and fortitude in the face of her unsympathetic male friends and relatives as she sets out to help women who have no one else to turn to. Nick's backstory is equally heart-wrenching and we see the pressures that men, too, face in a strict society. There was plenty of tension - romantic and otherwise - to keep the book going, and it was lovely watching Emma and Nick grow into their own and closer together.

I was invited by the publisher to read this book. When I got the invitation I had been feeling down in the dumps and thought what better way to cheer up then reading a romance novel. After reading the book I am definitely feeling better.

This book follows Nick and Emma. Both of them are really stubborn and never want to bee married; Nick because he doesn't want to let anyone in after his father basically disowned him, and Emma because she doesn't want a man to control her. I tended to like Nick more than Emma as Emma started to get annoying in the second half.

Nick and Emma's relationship grows throughout the book and grows especially fast after they are forced to marry. Their marriage seemed to be working until something threatens to tear them apart. Ultimately, of course, I loved where they ended up at the end.

This book was great! I cannot decide who was more stubborn, Emma or Somerton! Their antics had me laughing and the heat between them was fire!

I requested and received an ARC from NetGalley because I loved the first in the series.

This was second book in the series. I loved Nick, had already enjoyed him since the last book when we met him, as being Alex's best friend. Now Emma, kind of annoyed me, she came off as a brat to me, I understood that she was supposed to be a feminist in her day, and that she wanted to justice for her friend Lena, but I just felt that she came off as annoying and immature. I was however glad to read about Claire and Alex's relationship, and to see how they were doing.

This novel was a great read and I could not put it down!! I enjoyed this novel much more so than the first novel in the series. You do not need to read the first novel, but if you want some background about the supporting characters, you can read it. I love how the author incorporated a strong, independent woman with a strong, independent man. Both had different goals there were trying to achieve, but their determination to do so was an entertaining match.

Everything was going to plan, until he met Emma. Emma is like a breathe of fresh air to Nick, one of the few people he truly cares about. However, Emma swears off marriage, seeing the independence it takes away from women. Nick has no intentions of marrying either. However, due to Emma's persistence in Lena's death, Emma and Nick find themselves getting married to avoid a scandal, even though the ignite the passion in each other. With neither willing to compromise, it leads to a battle of wills when Nick's past interferes with Emma's work to help women who find themselves in troubling situations. Their love for each other is there, even if they do not admit to each other, but will their stubborn natures end their relationship before it truly has begun?

This is a fun and light read about some very serious subjects. One of which is domestic abuse and another is about women's rights. I think the reason it is so light and fun has to do with the wonderful relationship the two main characters have, Nick and Emma.

Nick and Emma have known each other for years. They are friendly and Nick is the friend of Emma's cousin's husband. Sound confusing, I was too at the beginning. There are a lot of names of lords and I had to go back and read some parts again to figure out who is who.

This is book 2 in the series and book 1 I never read so it can stand alone very nicely. The main story revolved around the drama of Emma's best friend Lana who has died/been murdered by her abusive husband. Emma is trying to get her friend's maid to testify and make the husband pay.

The do that she takes some risks and Nick cannot stay away from Emma so he rescues her. But both hate the idea of marriage and so what happens when Emma is left in a delicate position when they are found together Well no spoilers here.

I LOVED Nick and Emma together. They are alot of fun and I loved how crazy Emma makes Nick's world. Definitely an author I would enjoy reading more from. The writing was pretty good, and I really loved the characters and story.
