I found this to be a great read. Not sure I liked the conflict to go on quite so long but resolved very well.

I really had trouble getting into the book initially and getting caught up in the emotions of the characters. The storyline was good, but it just didn’t stand out in my mind amongst other books in the genre. The blurb was great, but overall the book just fell flat for me.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

This book was hard to put down as there was such tension between Tanner and Chantel! Tanner hated Chantel as he believed that she was responsible for his best friend's death and did not even give her a chance to explain details that would have proved she really followed orders.

They are ordered to work together and find a mysterious artifact that has great power and could be dangerous in the wrong hands. The journey as they search for the last path of the box keeps you on the edge of your seat! There is one huge twist that causes a big problem for Tanner.

I loved that we see more of the previous characters and see what is going on in their lives. I wonder if the ruby will figure in events in the future, could it help them or will it destroy the people that use it? I look forward to the next book as I love these characters!

Lark Brennan skillfully takes us further into the parallel world of psychic energy. In Recklessly Yours two Protectors (the good guys) are in Montana where a box with powerful energy has been reported.
Chantal is a member of the Durand family, the leaders of the Protectors. Her former lover is Tanner, and this complicates things when they are both assigned to this mission: find the box and determine whether it is dangerous and if so, what to do with it.
Tanner blames Chantal for the death of his best friend Javier, so he is less than thrilled to be partnered with Chantal. Chantal holds harsh feelings for Tanner since he broke up with her over a misunderstanding. However, they are professionals and know they need to find this missing treasure box. There are other issues that work against Chantal and Tanner, including a blizzard, mountainous terrain, a cave with ancient paintings, a psychic murderer named Greywolf, a man who may or may not be dead, and the box and the jewel it contains. That’s a lot for Chantal and Tanner to keep at bay, but the story is written so well the reader has no difficulty keeping track of everyone and everything in this paranormal mystery.
When the box and the ruby it contains become separated, Tanner and Chantal keep possession of the jewel while Greywolf has the box. I would say that Tanner controls the ruby but it is the other way around: the ruby controls Tanner. Same with the box as Greywolf realizes that the empty container he holds is seeking its ruby. The ruby act in ways both good and bad, but which is it predominantly? Good or bad? And what will happen to Tanner, Chantal, their bosses, and Greywolf when it is reunited with the box? Stay tuned. (Don’t worry. This isn’t a cliffhanger.)

I requested this book not reading books one own two knowing there was a chance that I would need to do that in order to understand this series and the back story. There are a lot of book that you can pick up enough information in the current book and not miss too much, this is not one of those series or books. I will need to go back and read books one and two before continuing to read book three. Anyone new to this series will need to do the same.
