Out of the two short novellas about the two adopted dragons, this one was much more interesting. Again, there is basically no backstory provided, so if you have not read the previous stories, you probably should, but in this, we have a full story, complete with a really cute romance. The only thing that bothered me was the whole villain of the piece, which didn't really make much sense to me.

Another sweet addition to the series. This time it's Aqua's turn to find a friend.
Jealous of his brother's relationship with Nixie, Aqua is sent on an adventure of his own. The only stipulation is to avoid Texas. Of course Aqua ends up in the desert...

Half hour read. Sweet with nothing more than a few hugs. Ash is an interesting character, almost an outcast from his group. And Aqua's protective instinct is a contrast to his spoilt nature at the beginning of the story.

After Rios had his adventure and found his mate and his life direction, poor Aqua was feeling left on the outside looking in. Uncle Willy wisely sets the dragon kit on his own adventure and, of course, a wild and quirky dragon adventure ensues.

Dragon Home like the previous story Dragon Adventure are part of the overall Supernatural Consultant series. One could get away with reading it in a pinch as a standalone, but it really works best as far as understanding the world and knowing the additional characters to read it in order.

This is a short and fast read, but like the rest of the series it was humorous, cute, and heartwarming with its strong sense of family, relationships, and a pinch of action to keep it interesting.

Now while this one was short and fast, it also took the time to continue building the lore of the dragons and took things to the desert where Aqua could meet another supernatural species and more of his own kind in a different situation and setting.

I enjoyed this side story in the series about one of the precocious dragon kit twins growing up and coming into his own. I look forward to what is to come and hope there are further adventures for them with Dane, Mercury, and the other dragons.

My thanks to Less Than Three Press for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was ridiculously adorable. Aqua wasn’t much of a character in the last story, Dragon Adventure, being little more than an immature side-kick to Rios at the start, before Rios grew up and fell in love. Aqua’s in a similar state at the beginning of this, resenting the loss of his best friend and brother to his new mate. He might be sixteen, but dragons don’t have to mature unless they want to – or have a good reason for it – so he’s not only feeling lonely, he also feels left behind as Rios grows up without him. Which is why he ends up flying off solo in search of new friends.

I really enjoyed this. Aqua is adorable. He’s a little naive about the world and he definitely doesn’t have the greatest of survival instincts, but he’s friendly and kind and knows a mess when he lands right in the middle of it. He’s not about to supplant Lumie as my favourite series dragon, but he definitely climbed the list.

As much as I loved getting to know Aqua better, I also really liked seeing more of this world and learning a little bit about other dragons – and some different supernatural beings. I don’t want to spoil Aqua’s story, but I will say I loved the new friends he finds and Ash in particular. I also really enjoyed how he handled certain situations without growing up too quickly.

So despite the sad lack of Lumie in this book, I still found it a cute and extremely adorable addition to this lovely series. Can’t wait to see where it heads next, though I’d love to see more of that mine being dug in Dane’s garden…

With Rios happily mated and planning an entire future, Aqua can't help but feeling left out. The brother that was always been his chief playmate and best friend is going to leave him behind, which isn't at all acceptable. The obvious answer is to leave first, so Aqua packs a bag to go on an adventure. But this adventure isn't anything like his last one and the chances of him returning home alive dwindle every moment.

I actually liked Dragon Home better than its previous story, Dragon Adventure, which I thought was really cute.  Here in Dragon Home (Supernatural Consultant #5.2), Mell Eight goes into a little more depth into her universe by revealing wonderful unknown details about  characters and dragon growth we hadn't known before. We also meet some new supernatural creatures are introduced as well when Aqua, like Rios, sets off to find new friends and perhaps a mate like his twin.

When we begin this story, Uncle Willy himself seems to be undergoing a physical change which I found interesting although not explained exactly.  I'm hopeful that Mell Eight will find a mate for William as well and his change will be a part of that. He deserves one for his accepting attitude and loving behavior towards his "wards" and their antics.  Intriguing bits like this keep me thinking throughout the story.  Dragon Home (and indeed all of Mell Eight's stories) is full of things of a similar narrative nature tucked here and there, just waiting for the reader to notice them and wonder.

Aqua is lonely and unhappy with his twin now spending all his time with his mate and his new found interest in the Coast Guard.  Rios has shot up physically with his mental and emotional maturity. Not so poor Aqua.  Now they don't even look like twins, making him feel even more isolated, something William is aware of.  It's adventure time for Aqua, he needs to see what it's like to get out there by himself and he does in a big way by going where no water dragon should.

I won't go further but this story has some surprising depth here.  The place Aqua "falls" into is a tumultuous one. It will take bravery, maturity and respect for others to see Aqua and others safely through.  That he does so is no surprise.  But the companion he brings home?  A delightful surprise, especially at the end which left me charmed and smiling as it did William.   Plus this story gave us a whole new side of William still to be seen.  I hope that book is coming.

Who knew I would love William and his kits as much as I do Dane, Mercury and their bunch?  Turns out I certainly do!  I just loved Dragon Home (Supernatural Consultant #5.2) by Mell Eight.  It's not a standalone story, you really need to read the others.  Luckily they're short and you can catch up quickly.  Read the entire series.  It's a joy! I recommend not only Dragon Home but all of the Supernatural Consultant series.

Cover art by Aisha Akeju is one of my favorite in this series.  Dramatic and speaks to the story.

Aqua’s brother, Rios, found his mate and now he’s off every day with Nixie and Aqua is left with no one. He shouldn’t be jealous of Nixie because Rios is so happy, but he is. When Aqua is moping around the house one morning his Uncle Willy told him that he needed to make friends and he wasn’t going to meet any if he stayed at home moping. Aqua immediately packs a bag, turns into his water dragon form and heads off on an air current to seek adventure.

Aqua doesn’t know where he is when he realizes that he’s hungry. He stops in a desert to eat but he gets ready to leave he’s conked on the head. A family of fire salamanders – led by the oldest brother – ties him up thinking he’s a spy. Aqua tries to tell them he’s not but they don’t believe him. When he thinks everyone is gone he meets a silent member of the family. Ash is an albino salamander. He can’t create fire and can’t go out in the sun or he’ll burn. Ash explains that his sister Safara had dated a nearby dragon but when their older brother went to meet the dragon he had brought Safara back with him and they were then at war with the local dragons.

Aqua decides that the only way to work things out is to talk it over with the local dragons. He takes Ash with him and heads off to play peacemaker. Unfortunately, what he discovers is something he can’t fix jut by talking.

This was such an adorable story. I just loved it and would have given it 5 stars had it been a little longer.

Aqua was a good kid/dragon kit and had such a good heart. He just wanted to be loved and feel like he was a part of something. Yes, he had his brother and Uncle Willy but he needed more. Finding Ash and his family situation was a huge turning point in his life and it warmed my heart to see him so happy.

I don’t want to tell you too much about the story because the revelations are worth reading. Now I did put this under M/M but Aqua and Ash are young and the only thing they do is hold hands – just FYI.

As much as I want to get the stories of the other dragon kits from the first few books this was a wonderful interlude and definitely worth reading.

I received this ebook on NetGalley for an honest review.
I picked up Mell Eight books through NetGalley and then slowly bought up most of her work.
A favourite of mine is her Dragon series, this is a 2 parter the 1st being Dragon holiday where Rios met Nixie and this is Aqua's story.
Here he's given the permission to 'run away' from home and find his place in the world!
This time instead of water we hit desert territory and meet fire dragons and so much more.
A nice short read with no heat but Aqua meeting his mate.
