this book was fun to read, I liked the characters and the story line was very good. Real world situations made it believable. At times it felt a little stiff to me. It was well worth a read if you like a little bit of mystery and crime and a lot of romance.

At times the story is hard to follow and not sure if the author was getting the character names mixes up. Also if most or all characters are speaking together it is hard to figure who is saying what. Some medical terms were incorrect.
But I was pulled into the story and wanted to solve the what was going on. The author also made plot twists that were unexpected that pushed the reader to continue on.

I was absolutely amazed by this book. Erin L. Johnson is a very creative writer and pays extra attention to details yo make you feel as if you are part of this story.
Crystal is a young PA, who takes the place of her ill boss, to go out of state to help a rich family in need of making funeral arrangements for a sick uncle. Before she leaves home she is contacted by her aunt who is psychic, advising her she maybe in for some trouble. But Crystal doesn't believe in Psychics or her aunt.
Crystal is belittled by this rich family. A family who thinks she is only there as a whore, or to steal from them. All she wants to do is help and leave this mansion as soon as she can.
Crystal is faced with things that she has always believed to be non existent. Scared and shattered she just wants to leave, but the police have told her she can't leave, as she is a suspect. She is forced to deal with the family who belittles her.

I really liked the twist at the end. Looking forward to read another book about Crystalline and Alric.

This was the strangest book. I don't even know how to categorize it. I took the haunted house and ghosts in the synopsis to be more metaphorical; they were not. This is a supernatural/paranormal read with a tiny bit of mystery and romance (if one could even call it that). I dug into this thinking it would be a mystery-thriller with some kink. But instead I got a whole lot of strange family dynamics, psychics and seers, randomly thrown in LGBTQ issues, a sex scene, a ghost, and a suspicious death.
Nothing was fleshed out, nothing was cohesive. It felt like every type of genre and plot device was thrown in. There's this "twist" near the end that I am sure was suppose to be a big "wtf" moment, but all it achieved for me was an eye roll.

Just okay from the genre - an easy, quick read but had a disapointing ending. Just as I was beginning to like the characters it went in a totally unexpected direction and ended leaving me feeling a bit underwhelmed. Will try other books from this author in hopes that this was a one off.
