LOVED this story and the relationship that grew between Caron and Ella. Definitely a must read in this series!

Misadventures of a Backup Bride is a lovely, fast-paced romance. I enjoyed the pace of the book matching the short time frame Ella and Carson have to decide what their future holds in store for them. This book is filled with passion, devotion, love, fear, misgivings, and a couple of didn't-see-that-coming moments.
I am a new fan of Shayla Black so excuse me while I go peruse her catalog of work. I am definitely interested in reading more from her.

Normally I love books by Shayla Black but I just couldn't get into this one. I tried to read it several times and had to make myself finish it. It's probably me so I don't want to run it down.

Carson Frost would do anything to get out of a loveless relationship. On the verge of marrying to save his father's business he realizes that he cannot subject himself to a marriage of convenience. He needed to love and desire his partner not look at her with regret and wish he married someone different. One person comes to mind to save him and his business, a chance meeting that occurred months ago. Lasting only seconds she would change his life in every way. Ella Hope is trying to succeed as an actress and desperately needs the money Carson offers her. They both enter into the relationship knowing it won't last. But you know what they say your best intentions...

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Misadventures of a Backup Bride by Shayla Black is the fourth book in the Misadventures series, which is comprised of all standalone novels.
Misadventures of a Backup Bride follows the romance between billionaire Carson Frost and Ella Hope, an actress hired to play Carson's "wife." What starts as a fake romance soon becomes heated, real, intimate. Ella becomes emotionally involved and begins to fantasize that they are really getting married, but she fears he won't want her once his company is safe and he no longer needs a bride.
This was my first Shayla Black novel, and I was impressed. I recommend this novel to steamy romance lovers.

Carson is in a tough spot. Ella seems like the right choice to fix the problem. They are not looking for a relationship. They both have some issues to deal with from there pasts. There connection is instant. They are explosive together in the best possible way. What an amazing way to find the one. Loved this story. A must read.

Carson Frost finds himself in a predicament. In order to save his late father's bakery, he must marry the daughter of his business rival. Young, bubbly Kendra is no match for Carson. While her head is in the clouds, his is on the present day, and finding ways to get out of this sham of a marriage-to-be.
The only way Carson thinks of to get out of said predicament is by lying that he is already committed to someone else. Enter Ella Hope. Ella and Carson had previously met at a birthday party of a guy Ella had been set up with on a blind date.

What began as a sham soon turns into something more. Carson and Ella come to find out that they want each other more than just two people in a fake relationship. But, Carson has his father's company on the line.
Can Ella risk her heart for a man who hired her to be his fake fiancee? Can Carson find a way to get what he wants--the love of a woman like Ella, and his father's legacy?
This fourth book in the Misadventures series is packed full of laughs, romance, and two characters who make you fall in love with their relationship and root for their happy ending from start to finish.

I enjoyed this story. Not at all a story that is likely to happen in reality, but it has humour, emotion, tension, and well-rounded characters. It builds up to a good climax, will they, won't they? At that point it really could all have ended in tears, as both Carson and Ella are trying to do what is best for each other, without finding out what the other really wants.
A light, somewhat frothy read, but most enjoyable.

Love Shayla Black. This book had my attention in the beginning. The restaurant scene was HOT and the chemistry was amazing, but something was missing. I think it was the fact that Ella and Carson never had an argument. Just seemed like there wasn't enough drama between the two of them.

The story line was very predictable and the characters were one dimensional.
Although there were some twists it just did not hold me.

This was an interesting read. The chemistry between Carson and Ella is unmistakable and intense. From the beginning to the end of the book its nothing but temptation and very good descriptions. I would recommend this to all romance lovers who love to read about spice and two people who clearly should be together. This book was worthy of being part of the misadventures series. So steamy.

DNF... this one was not for me. I tried several times, but could not get through it.

Insatiable....that is the best way to describe me reading this book-I just couldn't get enough.
Meet overnight billionaire, Carson. He owns his estranged late father's candy business, Sweet Darlin'. The only problem Carson faces with his new status is that he is too cash strapped to save the company. He made a loan with his business rival, Gregory Shaw, with the condition that Carson marry Gregory's daughter Kendra. Carson tries and fails to make himself feel anything for his future bride. Carson wanted out of the arrangement so bad that he told Gregory that he was actually in love with another woman. They make a new deal.
Ella, an aspiring actress, that Carson saw briefly at a party months before gets a phone call to play the part of the fake girlfriend. That job turned into playing the fake fiance` & then the fake bride.
Can Carson & Ella play the part & fake it or will it become reality?
Iv'e read other "Misadventure" books in this series & I am impressed. Looking forward to more from Shayla Black.
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!!

A great funny. Book with a great way to make fun of normal romance.

Carson is between a rock and a hard place when he inherits his father’s candy company and needs some cash quickly. The one man willing to step up and lend him money adds the condition that he marry his daughter. Carson tries to feel something for Kendra, but he realizes a marriage between them is just not going to work. Unfortunately, her father will not lend him the money without the marriage. In order to get out of his predicament, Carson hires an actress he met a few months ago to become his “true love”. This book was HOT, and I loved the twists and turns that came throughout it. A definite must read!

A POWER couple without the power or being a couple. I truly loved this story by Shayla and Carson and Ella are on the list of one of my favorite partners in a fictional environment. They owned being supportive, consoling, and appreciative. They actually listened to one another and made things happen off the knowledge in which they acquired. This book and storyline was just fantastic.

Really enjoyed reading Carson & Ella's story. Carson has inherited is late fathers company but it's not doing well and he needs help from his competition but there is of course stipulation that he has to marry his daughter. Carson and Kendra do not want to marry each other so Carson comes up with a plan. Carson & Ella chemistry is off the charts and their sex is smokin hot. You can't help but feel for Carson & Ella and want them to find their HEA. An amazing story with amazing characters that had me hooked from page one.

InstaLUST straight into instaLOVE!
Carson is marrying a woman he isn't in love with. Don't worry. She isn't in love with him either. He's doing this in order to please her father so he will help him out with his company. It gets down to the nitty gritty and he knows he just CAN'T go through with the marriage, so he comes up with a spur of the moment alternative plan that involves an actress he met months back that he can't stop thinking about.
Ella is an actress in a bit of a slump. She isn't the conventional beauty that Hollywood is after, but that doesn't mean she isn't beautiful. When Carson calls her she lights up. Of course she remembers the handsome man she met a few months back at a party. OF COURSE she's willing to take an acting job to help him trick his boss. Little does she know that once she's in Carson's arms she won't have to act and it won't feel like a job!
In Misadventures of a Backup Bride Shayla Black provides a fun and steamy contemporary romance. If you like instalust and love with lots of smutty bits, then this read is for you. I really enjoyed this story and how much these characters really feel for each other. I think some people may dislike the end results of this story, but honestly sometimes you choose to sacrifice for love. In this instance and this story, I feel like it worked. I'm actually intrigued by one of the side characters stories as well. I realize this probably won't become a series, but the author did a great job making other characters appealing and matter even in such a quick read!
This book will be available October 17th!

** I received an Advanced ARC for an honest review from Netgalley.
WOW! This books was fast paced and HOT all the way through. Shayla Black did an outstanding job.
This book has a little bit of everything. Will Carson give up his dream for true love? Will he choose true love over the dream business his Father left him? I loved the depth of this story. There was so much background, story, steamy scenes, and surprises in one book. I highly recommend adding this to your pre-order list!

Carson needs to find a fake bride to get a competitor off his back while still getting necessary money to keep his business afloat. Hiring actress Ella to be that fake bride actually backfires on him when the chemistry between the two is explosive. Falling in love was never in the cards, but can Carson make the deal of a lifetime and win the girl and keep the business. This was a cute read with great characters and a surprise ending. It was an enjoyable read that I highly recommend.
