I thoroughly enjoyed this one!! Solid 4 Star read for me. This series has been so fun to delve into. It’s my first time reading several of these authors Shayla Black being one of the “new to me” authors. She knocked it out of the park with this book. I will be looking at her library ASAP to see what else I can dive into.

Ella and Carson’s chemistry was incredible and so was their connection. This was a misadventure turned adventure and it was so fun to read. I love insta attraction and I loved that although the story itself that Carson was selling to save his company it was somehow rooted in truth. He had met Ella and fallen in insta-attraction and would have pursued her had she been there alone.

Overall this was a low angst and lighthearted but VERY sexy read!

Received and ARC from Netgalley in exchange for honest review.

I am really enjoying this series. It would be very difficult to choose a favourite.
In this book Carson Frost inherits his families confectionery business and the only loan he can get to rebuild the business comes from his rival at a steep price. In return for the loan he must marry the man's daughter. The only emotion between this pair is dislike and Carson is totally not prepared in any way to marry her unless in a completely open marriage. When he calls upon an actress friend who was once dating a friend and offers her a large sum to be his fake fiancé the tables are turned on him by his rival who agrees to hand over the agreed sum if he marries the fake fiancé instead.
A thoroughly enjoyable read.
I was given this book by NetGalley and the publisher. This is my voluntary review.

I love Shayla's books and her writing! This one wasn't an exception! It was steamy, sweet and cute.Exactly what I was needed!I absolutely loved Carson and Ella. Carson is being forced into a marriage with a rival’s daughter. He confesses to loving another woman and then finds himself having to prove it. Ella is an actress but hasn’t found success yet. When the man she met six months ago calls to offer her a job she accepts. The money is a great motivator but the truth is she was and still is very attracted to him.The chemistry between these two was magnetic.Another great story in this series!

This has been my favourite Misadventures book so far. Very likeable characters, a great storyline & super hot sex - what's not to like!

Carson inherits his late father's company but he needs some investment to keep it afloat. His rival offers to help him out on the condition that Carson marries his daughter.

Ella is a struggling actress & jumps at the chance to help out Carson by pretending to be in love with him so he doesn't spend his life with the wrong girl. The chemistry between them is off the charts & it quickly becomes apparent that neither of them is pretending. Can Carson save his company & get the girl of his dreams?

I think this is the 4th book in the Misadventures Series and I enjoyed this book for what it was. We have Characters Carson, a CEO of a candy company who recently inherited it from his absent father, and Ella, a "not so famous" actress in Hollywood who is hired by Carson to play his girlfriend. Carson has recently inherited his father's candy company and he has to find a way to fix its financial problems. Being that he is a rookie CEO, there aren't any banks that are willing to loan him the money so he turns to his rival, Mr. Shaw to lend him the money, which is crazy by the way. But nothing comes easy and there is a catch, Carson must marry Shaw's daughter and also give him 5% of his dad's company. Shaw's daughter is 10 years younger than Carson and very immature. What would you do in this situation? Would you hire an actress to pretend to be your long lost love or soul mate? If you answered yes to this question, then look no further because this book is built on this concept.

I like the characters in this story and their chemistry was ever so present throughout this story. The sex was, of course, hot and scorching. Carson was a down to earth type of character with great ambitions and Ella was also a grounded, mature character with a touch of a sex goddess. I was actually expecting more sex, but I was okay with few sex scenes because most authors drown their books with repetitive sex scenes. This story was very different from the other books in the series because I actually got to see the development of their relationship and I connected with Ella.

When we first meet Ella, we meet a nice, grounded girl trying to make it in Hollywood, but when she meets Carson, she turns into a nymphomaniac. She is this sex goddess, but that quickly fades away throughout the book. It wasn’t consistent with her character. The pacing was way off to me and this entire book takes place in 17 days. What? That is exactly what makes this story a huge fairytale. The ending was a nice Disney princess ending with everything being resolved with a nice pretty bow. It made me roll my eyes so much that I had to pick them up from off the floor. The ending is so cheesy. This bothered me for some reason, but I still enjoyed the story. This is one of those instant love and fake fiancée story arcs and if you are a fan of this category in romance then you will most definitely enjoy this story. I give this story 4 stars and even though this story reeked of "happily ever after" Disney princess style, I still liked this story and I had a good time reading it. I recommend it.

*3 Stars*

This book was a fairly fast and enjoyable read, but I had a few issues with it. I'm not a fan of insta-love and I'm not a fan of total backflips and best friend like relationships that happen all of a sudden.

I did like the two main characters in this book, and it was a fairly enjoyable read. I just didn't find myself believing it, in terms of these kinds of things happening in real life. Sure, its a romance novel, and a lot of people would say that what happens in a romance novel is never going to happen in real life. But depending on the ones you read, a lot of them do have situations that can be real. This didn't give me that feeling so much.

It was sexy and did have good characters, and I would recommend giving it a go if you like the sound of it. I do like the fake relationship trope so thats always interesting. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either.

I LOVED this addition to the Misadventures books. I thought it was well written and a great read. Carson an overnight millionaire or almost... as he needs a loan to help save a company he inherits from his late biological father and is forced to marry his father's rival's daughter to get the loan. At first this was a good idea, but after thoughts are forcing Carson to consider does he want to marry someone he is not in love with and never will be? A chance meeting in LA at a party with an aspiring actress and he puts a plan in place to get out of the arranged marriage. Ella, LA actress who is not finding much work... remembers the chance meeting with Carson and was drawn to him. When he calls looking to hire her for a few weeks as her long lost love, she is all in.... however will the connection they had become something more real as they get to know each other. In the end does it matter? LOVED. LOVE. LOVED this book!

f you’re in the market for an easy read, this book will fit the bill. The story moves along and gets resolved pretty quickly. There are some steamy scenes. The only thing that bothered me was the female lead, Ella, was going back and forth on making her decision at the end of the book. She did have her reasons, which could be understandable, but I found it kind of tedious. Even with that, I would recommend reading it. It’s not my favorite book but I finished it, unlike some that I couldn’t finish reading them. I was provided a copy from Netgalley and Waterhouse for an honest review.

It took me longer to read this as i couldn't quite get into it, The story was good and the characters were well written it just wasn't for me. This is why I'm still giving this book 5 starts because there was nothing wrong.

I was not really into it. I neither did like the writing style nor the characters nor the plot. Was a huge disappointment , because I did really like this series.

Hope the next books aren't like this one - This series really is good, just not this one particular book.

Carson and Ella are a cute relatable couple. Their chemistry is there despite them acting like they are in a relationship. I enjoyed reading this book in the series.

I have read the previous three books in the misadventures series. I love that I am getting a taste of all these amazing authors. These books are quick fun reads and Backup Bride is no exception.

Misadventures of a Backup Bride is book four in the Misadventures series but they do not need to bread in order since they are all standalone.
This one was defiantly fun and flirty with an on-the-fence may have been cheating. (Is it cheating if you tell your fiancé first?) This book was a quick read, very steamy with a women who wasn't too shy to tell her partner what she wanted.
Carson and Ella are my favorite characters from the Misadventure books so far. Loved it and you will too!!

Carson Frost is trying to save his late father's candy business.  The only way he can do that is to marry his rival’s daughter.  In an attempt to get out of the arrangement Carson makes up being in love with one of his friends girlfriends.  Ella Hope is struggling actress trying to make rent in Los Angeles when she recieve a call from Carson and offer to help him out of his engagement and get her rent paid for the next few months. What could possibly go wrong.
Carson and Ella’s chemistry sizzle off the page.  The book overall was a mixed bag for me.  I liked Carson and Ella.  Sometimes I felt their communication was bad and the antagonist was a little to multipative for me. It was ok read.

Enjoyable, quick read with likeable characters. I really liked the fact that Carson was up front with Ella about the situation with his company and what he wanted from her. It was nice reading a book where there was communication between the couple (so not a fan of contrived misunderstandings). I liked Ella's sisters and hope they each get a HEA.

This is the 4th standalone book in the installment of Misadventures Series. This is also the first book that I have read by this author and I am in love with this book. I absolutely love this book it hit all the feelers. It made me laugh and I love the chemistry between Carson and Ella. Who would have thought that having a fake bride could and would lead to so much more after only meeting once before. You can feel the attraction from the get go between Carson & Ella. This just shows you that true love can win out if you just hold your ground. The secondary characters such as Kendra and her dad are ones you initially hate but truly grow to love in the end. I will be checking more out by this author as I have fallen in love with not only her characters but also her style of writing as well too! Thank you for another awesome & amazing read in this series! I absolutely love the Misadventures Series more & more with each book I read.

4.5 Stars
This story features Carson and Ella. The attraction is there. Everything is PERFECT, except none of it is real. Well, maybe all the HOT sex they’re having is real and a few other things. I was a little irritated with Ella. EVERYTHING was there for the taking but she still wasn’t sure. Maybe it seemed too good to be true.

Looking forward to reading more from this fantastic author.
