5 Star review of Misadventures Of A Backup Bride by Shayla Black
What a complicated life Carson Frost leads! When he inherits a confectionery company, he turns to a competitor to assist him with much needed funds he cannot raise in time. The catch? He has to marry the man’s daughter and give up a percentage of his business.
What’s Carson going to do but go ahead with it. However, when doubt rears it’s head he knows he cannot marry her and so begins a web of lies that keep getting bigger and bigger. This is when Carson remembers meeting and being interested in an actress from LA named Ella Hope and he subsequently “hires” her to be his “fake” bride.
What starts off as a fake relationship, soon morphs into so much more and becomes even more complicated, feelings become involved. The possibility of a real relationship soon becomes a reality, only problem is they live states away from each other. Will Carson be prepared to leave his inheritance behind or will Ella be prepared to give up her dreams of winning an Oscar?
The chemistry between Carson and Ella was sizzling the twists and turns heart pounding and all in all was a great addition to this wonder Misadventures series.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book which was provided by the publisher through NetGalley

Carson and Ella's fake fiance situation was only ever fake for like a hot second, if even that. When he came up with a plan to pay an actress to be his fake love, calling up a girl who's been on his mind already set the plan in motion for their happily ever after.

I like Ella, she's got spunk and she's sassy and doesn't just do whatever she's told. And Carson is a successful businessman, but that's not all he is, and they are both honest and upfront with their feelings. Which are pretty dang insta. Insta everything- bring it all on! This was a very enjoyable book, no surprise from me when you look at the author. I'd love a story involving Ella's sisters in the future, but I can't complain- this was good. I loved the end, it was beautiful and perfect.

This is a fun romance including some intense sex scenes! It was surprising how quickly those scenes were brought to the plot, but the plot did pick up about halfway through the book. I wasn't convinced I'd like each chapter switching between each main character (Ella and Carson), but I found seeing the relationship from both points of view, enlightening! A fun read! Perfect for a beach or quiet afternoon on your own!

Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Oh man! What. A. Book! Another captivating, page-turner! Carson and Ella met previously, but while they noticed the other, they didn't cross paths again. Until Carson called her up. LA was a hard town to live in and acting was a hard gig. Ella wasn't currently working on a project so she was able to drop everything and take the job Carson was offering. Neither was expecting the intense chemistry still there between them, which was palpable through the pages. What started out as a job and acting for both parties, soon they couldn't deny what was between them and they couldn't keep the feelings out of their budding relationship.
I enjoyed watching their relationship grow into something real. Their story was sweet, sexy, maddening and OH-SO-DELICIOUS! It was fast paced and I didn't want to put it down. I enjoyed the banter between Carson and Ella and I liked that she was a strong woman. She kept Carson on his toes and he appreciated her for who she was. His original fiancee wasn't one who struck his fancy or that he could even have a conversation with. However, there wasn't a problem communicating with Ella in or out of bed! They were a good fit for each other and they had to work through the job and their true feelings. I enjoyed the twists this book brought and highly recommend it!

This was like the rest of the series, a fun and light dirty read. The lust at first look is a fun premise and it's surprisngly well written.

This was a great story about finding love when you least expect it. I love a good "love at first sight" novel. Another great book in the Misadventures series.

Misadventures of a Backup Bride is a fast sexy read, and it's a good pick for when you are in the mood for a quickie. I am not a big fan of insta-love or fake marriage tropes so I wasn't sure if I would like this book but Ms. Black made it work. There is not a lot of substance or depth to this story, it's just a very cheesy romance with an obligatory HEA. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, sometimes it's exactly what the doctor ordered.

This is Shayla Black's entry to the Misadventure Series. I was lucky to have had access to an ARC.

I am very familiar with Shayla, so to say this book was a wonderful read was not a surprise to me. She has a way of weaving a story and bringing her emotions to each and every story and character she writes about.

This is no exception. It starts out with Carson who is left the responsibility of running his late biological fathers' empire and it is not an easy task. He is left with hard decisions to make. In an effort to save his father's company, he agrees with his competitor to marry the man's daughter in exchange to receive liquid assets to keep the company afloat. The problem is the man's daughter is a young woman with no thought of responsibility and only has partying on her mind.

The two have nothing in common. Carson is desperate not to marry this girl, so he concocts a plan to hire a "backup bride" to convince his competitor that he does not love his daughter, but loves someone else. In comes Ella whom he met briefly months before, a woman with future plans that don't include a husband and everything that comes with it. But she needs the money so she agrees with Carson to play the part of his fiancée.

The fly in the ointment is they both fall hard for each other. They both now have to make some tough decisions that will change both their lives forever.

This was an amazing story with a lot of heartbreak, and emotional twists and turns. I recommend this highly.

An amazing instalove romance. It's steamy and sexy. You could tell right away the struggle for Kendra and Carson. And when Ella is pulled into the picture you got that zing of instalove. I love Carson and Ella. Their chemistry is off the charts. The fight didn't take long but boy it was a fun read. I laughed and got little teary eyed there too. I was right there with Ella and her fight if she could be the back up bride. I wanted to hate Kendra and her father but as the story went on and they unraveled to show their true shelves I got it. As the Misadventures series goes this is a gem in the mix. I loved Backup Bride just as much as all the others I have read. Shayla Black did a fabulous job with this one. I wish I could have more.

Ella is an actress for hire. When she gets a call from an old acquaintance, Carson Frost, asking to hire her as his fake girlfriend she jumps at the chance. She is single and short on cash.

Carson has acquired his estranged fathers candy company and is struggling to keep it running. He has entered into a deal with his fathers competition for a bail out. The catch is that he either has to marry the competitions daughter (who is also not thrilled at the arrangement) or prove that he has a serious relationship. That's where Ella comes in.

What happens when the feelings become more than a job? What happens when marriage gets put on the table? Will Ella help, save the company or walk away? This was a quick read and I would love to find out what happens to the characters after this book!'

The Misadventures series has been a lot of fun to read. I loved Carson & Ella's story. You have the guy who's being forced into a marriage by a bossy man that wants to take care of his immature, sorority girl like daughter & the wannabe actress trying to make rent. They met briefly at a mutual friend's party, & Carson remembered that Ella was an actress. He hires her to play someone he's still got feelings for to come from CA to Carolina to convince the meddling man that he loves her. The romance that plays out is so worth the read. Also everything isn't always what it appears to be. This is a great read, & I highly recommend it!

Four sweet darlin' stars. Misadventures of a Backup Bride is surprisingly sweet for a book written by Shayla Black and I like it. I read it so fast I was wondering if it's truly a full-length novel.

What began as a fake relationship became real so fast for Carson and Ella. Instalust turned into instalove in a matter of days. Shayla showed the intense physical attraction between the two extremely well in numerous hot sexual encounters. However, the transition into love was more told than actually shown, but still very convincing. I actually liked that both of them were honest with their feelings and did not play games. What I appreciate the most is that they talked with each other a lot. Every decision they made were done together. This is why I believed that they were truly in love.

Except for Gregory Shaw, who was the source of all the conflicts, the secondary characters (Kendra, Ella's sisters, Vasha) had just enough presence without taking the spotlight off Carson and Ella.

I admire Carson for being true to himself and caring enough about Kendra not to go through with their business wedding. I like Ella's full support of Carson and can relate to her well-developed sense of responsibility over her younger sisters. I understand her desire to meet Hollywood's standard of beauty. I adore that Carson thought she is perfect exactly the way she is.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. If I have a couple of criticisms they would be that the ending might have been a bit too convenient with all bows tied up neatly and that there was really no sense of place. The North Carolina setting wasn't coming through so much.

Lastly, I hope there's a sequel for Vasha and Sam and also for Eryn.

I wish I was that lucky to have a guy ask me to help him and then fall in love hard and fast. The circumstances for Carson and Ella are very difficult but it is what units them as a team that bonds working towards the outcome they need. They start with the goal of saving a company and deceiving others but it turns into a goal of having it all. Specifically love, because they have fallen so hard for each other that now they will need to figure out how to make it work without having to spend a day away from each other.

I voluntarily received an ARC from Net Galley for a honest review.

Wow! I really enjoyed this book.

Carson Frost has inherited his estranged late father's billion dollar business Sweet Darlin'. However he is finding it hard to keep business going without getting a loan from his business rival Gregory Shaw. If Carson agrees on getting the loan he has to marry his daughter along with other conditions. Even though Carson is not in love with her. Instead of marrying his daughter Carson comes up with a plan two weeks before the wedding trying to convince Mr. Shaw that he was in love someone else.

Ella Hope is an actress trying to make ends meet. Along with taking care of her sisters in the process. When Carson calls her about a job opportunity she couldn't turn it down. However she never thought that she would have to make some tough decision with her heart and future.

Wow! What a good book. I love to read books by Shayla Black because I know it will be good. Carson is a strong character who has to find a way out of a wedding but he really needs a loan from his business rival. The bride to be is his daughter and is a part of the loan. So what does a guy do in this position? Why you hire an actress to be your pretend bride. Just because you get the added benefit of it being a woman you’re attracted to? It makes it an even harder situation. This is such a sweet story but there are a lot of hard decisions for them to make. I really enjoyed reading this story. I know I said it was sweet but be aware that the sex is hotter than a 4th of July in North Carolina. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book that I received from Netgalley.

"He looks like a Viking someone shoved into a perfectly tailored suit."

I feel stupid admitting to you that this is my first Shayla Black read. Where the hell have I been? I enjoyed another book in the Misadventures series, so I decided to try this one by a different author. Best decision ever... I have learned my lesson and will properly fangirl over this author in future. Let the stalking begin.

Carson was thrown into the deep end when his biological father died and left him his empire. It's worth billions, if he sells it. But he doesn't want to lose his legacy, he wants to run it himself. He needs a short term investor to help him bring it back to where it needs to be. The only problem is that since he doesn't have experience in this industry, nobody is willing to loan him the money. Well, nobody other than his biggest competition in the sweets business. And that man wants him to jump through hoops to make it happen. So, of course he agrees. It seemed like a good idea at the time...

Ella is an out-of-work actress who needs a job. When she gets the call to be his fake fiance', of course she agrees. She's seen him before, and thought to herself, "If I had conjured up the perfect guy, the one who would forever make me long for sweaty nights and star in my masturbatory fantasies, it would be this one."

When she shows up to perform her duties Carson starts having some fantasies of his own. She's everything his rival's daughter is not. She pushes all of his buttons, especially his UP button. How's he ever going to keep his lust in check while pretending to be in love with her?

What starts off as a little harmless flirting escalates into blistering chemistry between them. Will it just burn itself out if they give in to it? Or will she be left with a broken heart when she has to leave him at the alter?

I can't believe how much goodness was crammed into this short read. I devoured it from beginning to end and it was so good that I felt like having a cigarette afterwards. I most definitely will be keeping my eye out for whatever the author tackles next. The line forms here...
