I loved Lily and the Duke. It had a mix of regency and contemporary feel to the story for me. The characters were well written and the story and romance kept me engaged.

This was an interesting read. I’m not that big on historical romances but the one author that can pull it off is Ms Hardt. If you like steamy, historical, and royalty, you’ll love this book.

I’m a big fan of historical romance books and read hundreds of them over the years but this book just disappointed me in so many ways. I’ve read other books by the author and I can totally say this is not one of her best.
Unfortunately I had to DNF half way through.

Many thanks for my review copy Netgalley

I haden't from this author in a loooong time and I am going on remembrance thinking I had liked the books I have read from this author, I think I either had a wrong author or her books when down hill, because this one was, really I mean really. Things I disliked he kisses her thinking it is his mistress but decided liked lily and decides to continue after. Why did lily stop the kiss, in this era that would have been scandalolous. There is a good amount of sex or shall I say excessive. Then when the Duke gets permission from her dad she is upset (yeah) and they for seem reason think that she could be pregnant in three day.

This is very much an instalove story which I enjoyed. The plot was engaging and moved quickly. I loved Lily and Daniel's characters and adored the side characters. Definitely a good read!

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Another mediocre romance book. I had to stop reading after chapter 6. I was hoping for an Evie Dunmore style novel. But the women were not progressive and neither were the men. Hard pass

The meet-cute is...cute, but the insta-attraction is a bit tired as is the heroine's tone (bossy, but nice to her friends) which is meant to give her depth of character but just makes her a rather unlikeable quality. Lily's unconventional thoughts on marriage are also meant to make her unique, but that soon gives way along with her naivete. The Duke is a bit of a cliche in that he's the womanizing cad that changes his ways after one kiss. I don't know that Lily and the Duke's love is transcending, however, they both receive a character overhaul once they fall in lust/love. Unfortunately, Lily is the one that becomes rather unsufferable, i.e. bratty. The highlights are the meet-cute and the bedroom antics, the seduction is just okay, the pillow talk is cringe-worthy, and the villain and "unexpected" surprise are predictable, which is the overall theme of this book, predictability.

A country house party is the setting of a passionate affair between Daniel Farnsworth, Duke of Lybrook and Lady Lilly Jameson. Two people who find a common ground in art and books that definitely need each other.

When 50 Shades met Downton Abbey!

What a fantastic read and a great love story.

At start I really didn't like Daniel but. Like Lily he grew on me.

Lady Lily Jameson is thrilled to attend a house party given by Daniel Farnsworth, the Duke of Lybrook, but not because he’s the most eligible bachelor in the peerage. Her only interest is his famous art collection, which reputedly includes a painting by her favorite artist, Jan Vermeer. When I started reading I couldn't put it downHelen Hardt is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this books. Can't wait for the next book

Thanks for the ARC of this book Netgalley. It was a good story, not a great story. I had trouble with the idea that Lily would jump into the bed so quickly with Daniel, the Duke.

Lady Lily Jameson was an author, painter, and all-around nice girl. She and her family were spending two weeks at Laurel Ridge at the Lybrook estate. They were very excited about it. Lily didn't want to get married. She planned on finding a match for both her sister, Rose, and her brother, Thomas. So they would be to busy and she could paint and write to her heart's content.
Lord Daniel Farnsworth, The Duke of Lynbrook, was handsome, newly arrived from the continent, and a new duke. Both his father and his brother died about a year ago. She was going up an incline and someone grabbed her and kissed her deeply. Then he found out it was the wrong person. So he grabbed her again and kissed her a second time. The kiss was glorious.
The way their relationship started was quick, exciting, and sexy. I was able to read this in one sitting. I found it funny and very sad toward the end. There was a lot of action, entertaining, and was interesting. The characters are engaging and so full of life. It was delightful. I highly recommend this wonderful book.

Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Unfortunately, I couldn't enjoy this historical romance due to how forceful and arrogant the Duke is with the heroine. Their first meeting is him practically molesting her without consent. It was all chalked up to mistaken identify but then he's pretty rough and careless with his mistress whom he tries to impose his sexual frustration on. Just disgusting, zero romance just pure machismo.

Thanks so much to the publisher for an ARC to read and give my honest opinion. This was a fun historical romance set in the mid 1800’s at a party that is two weeks long. The host a notorious rake, has since reformed his ways since his father and brother passed is now ready to assume his role as the Duke of Lybrook. Only after a few kisses from Lily by accident have him caught in a web of attraction.

What did I like? This was a fun read, as women of this age didn’t really play around but Lily was a refreshing main character. After she is pretty much seduced by the Duke’s art collection, she becomes enamored of his charms as well. The house party gives them all sorts of time to sample each other’s charms and try not to fall in love.

Would I buy or recommend? This was a fun book, and I think Rose’s book will be even better. So it looks like a great series. Romance lovers will love the scintillating party scene where the two lovers keep their guests at bay to enjoy each other. Five stars.

Thoughts for the author? This book came out in 2015 but maybe it’s been given a reboot. Still it was a lovely story. Thanks for a copy.

HOT DAMN that was an awesome sexy read! This author blew me away, I loved every page, the characters were well presented, the storyline was addicting and I had trouble putting it down. I anxiously wait for her sisters story.

Thanks to NetGalley and the author for the copy of Lily and the Duke. For me it was a bit too predictable to be enjoyable. Boy meets girl, they fall for each other, but insecurities and another woman cause problems. It is a series, so perhaps there is hope for the second book in the series.

This book was a reread for me and I still Love this book!! I am trying to find a physical copy! Anything Meredith Wild writes is a masterpiece.

Lily and the Duke is a historical "bodice ripper", which is two of my favorite genres. I enjoyed the dialogue and intimate scenes very much. The historical element was lacking, somewhat, in that the dialogue was often too contemporary. However, the novel was a great escape and had the ever hopeful happy ending.

Lady Lily Jameson in avertedly stumbles into the path of Daniel, the Duke of Lybrook, whilst staying at his house for a two-week party. Believing her to be another woman, Daniel steals a kiss and upon realising that he is mistaken, continues to kiss Lily, and is instantly captivated. Soon they find themselves seriously involved, yet whilst Daniel believes that he must have Lily, she is not quite certain of his feelings and whether she wants to have a traditional relationship.
Whilst the storyline was typical of many of historical romances, the progression of the relationship, was quite fast paced (definitely a surprise) but then at times, seemed to oscillate according to Lily’s feelings at the time for Daniel. Whilst I quite liked the character of Daniel, I must admit to finding Lily quite confusing. At times, she wanted Daniel and then at times, could not decide whether she wanted to pursue a relationship with him. Overall, a light read with some interesting dialogue, that tended at times to be more contemporary that expected.
