I really gave this one a good try but it was not for me at all. I just found it really boring. I couldn't get on with the characters especially Ava who was just too cold. I gave up around half way through. My to read list is just too long to force my way through a book I do not enjoy.

I thought I would try a firefighter story from an Aussie author's eye. I did like the hero Caleb who found himself in a fling relationship with an artist Ava. Unfortunately, Ava is so cold and selfish I didn't care for her. By the time you find out why she acted the way she did,(it was terrible, yet unbelievable) it wasn't enough to see why Caleb put up with her for over a year. Throw in some danger and they are forever tight. It just didn't ring true to me, JMO. Maybe it is the short novella length of the story.

Caleb and Ava have a no strings relationship, and have had it for a year, so that is pretty much string right there. Caleb, is a divorcee and was burned before so he felt that he never wanted to get in a relationship again, but then he realized that, he felt more for Ava and he decided he wanted more. Ava had scars and secrets, so she decides she is breaking up, until you guess a fire to bring things to head and her to realize that she also wants more...

Trish Morey has really nailed it with Burning Love. Fourth and final in the Hot Aussie Knights series, this story had me up reading half the night. It's a terrific story in its own right but as the finale to the series, it's so much better if you've read the other three first.
This book sizzles from the first page — the sexual attraction between Caleb and Ava is never in question — they've been friends with benefits for a year, and for each of them the benefits are very apparent. Caleb wants more though and Ava fights him on that every time. She's got issues in her past which hold her back from trusting or loving anybody ever again.
I think this is one of the best Trish Morey stories I've ever read. The characters are well developed, and the plot and pacing are perfect. If I had one criticism it would be that the epilogue dragged a bit, but really this was a great story.

What a story I could not put this down it is the fourth book in the Hot Aussie Knights series and I want the first books. I could see that fire burning and hear it as it came .This is firefighter Caleb Knight and artist Ava Mattiske's story. The twists and turns in this book just kept me wanting to know what was going to happen next! I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

Caleb and Ava think that they can have an easy, no strings attached relationship but Caleb is not so sure of that anymore. Not when he feels that Ava is the only thing that keeps him from falling apart when the dark side of his job as a firefighter rears its ugly head. Ava, on the other hand, is determined to wrap her heart up and bury it deep underground where feelings, love, and emotions can't touch it. When a horrible bushfire ravages the area near where she lives and Caleb can't reach her, he's half out of his mind. Revealing his true feelings only make her push him away. But he pursues her until she tells him the truth about her past. In spite of it, Caleb refuses to let her go. But when her life is endangered by another fire that is heading directly for her, he abandons his post on the crew to rescue her, putting his career on the line.

Burning Love (Hot Aussie Knights Book 4) by Trish Morey
This is Artist Ava Mattiske and Caleb Knight’s story.

A year ago Caleb and Ava agreed to a secret fling without any expectations. At the time Caleb and Ava were not looking for a commitment but now Caleb has changed his mind. Will he be able to convince Ava to give them a chance at lasting love? Also, Ava is very secretive about her past. Will she reveal her secrets or will these secrets keep them from find true love?

I really liked Caleb and Ava's characters. They had chemistry that was red-hot but is it enough for a lasting relationship? A very enjoyable and sexy story with lots of secrets and a few twists.

FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Burning Love brings the Hot Aussie Knights to a close, at least for now as I’ve learned to never say it’s truly over. Caleb and Ava’s story is… a bit different than the earlier stories. Their’s is a well, it’s a benefits without the friends more like close acquaintances kinda thing. They’re friendly, but there is no true relationship just a friendly arrangement when the need arises for some sexual release. That sounds horrible typed out, but it was a mutually beneficial agreement. Neither wanted anything long term or even short therm, yet they’d been together in this arrangement for about a year. Then it begins to get a bit complicated as Caleb begins to allow his feelings for Ava to show. He wants a true relationship. Ava does not. And that’s where it gets complicated.

Ava has never opened up to Caleb about her past. The present, the attraction, that’s all they share. Until Caleb had to go get emotional on her and now she’s faced with something she’s afraid she cannot handle. There are some very dark secrets in Ava’s life. They will be slowly revealed over the length of this story. But to go any further would risk giving away spoilers. So I’ll simply say that Burning Love was an intense story. One that was a good story, but one where I had difficulty connecting with the characters. I was glad to see a resolution to the investigation of the family patriarch. And since there is an American side of the family’s series going on now in Rocky Mountain Knights, we may hear from some of these couples again. Never say never.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

This is the fourth book in the series about the firefighting Knights and, as the series title shows, it is set in Australia and the whole story is hot!

This story concerns Caleb Knight, whose first marriage ended in divorce after his ex wife proclaimed he was more married to his job than to her. For almost a year now he’s had a fling with the artist Ava Mattiske - but the pair are keeping it secret so no one but them knows about it. They also agreed that it isn’t a relationship, though after all this time it sometimes feels like one. She’s determined not to get trapped in a relationship after her experiences after reaching the age of sixteen so is now getting skittish about what’ll happen next for the pair of them. . . . .

This is a moving story and a great addition to the series. It explores some very dark issues and is a story about learning to trust someone, daring to love them rather than trying to run away. The background to Ava is slowly revealed and it is one you hope no-one should grow up experiencing (not saying any more, don’t want to give away any spoilers!). With art, posing, fires and danger as well as steamy interludes, this is an action packed story by a talented author and, like the other titles in the series, is a thoroughly enjoyable read.

I am very happy to say that I requested and was gifted a copy of this novel via NetGalley; this is my honest opinion after choosing to read it.

I 'm so loving the Hot Aussie Knights. Caleb has been married in the past but now just has a casual relationship with Ava, which suits him just fine. After time he decides he wants more, but Ava has secrets in her life that is preventing her into a long term relationship. When a fire threatens her house and her life, she soon realizes Caleb is the real thing.

A great story of hot romance and hot firefighters! It will keep you turning the pages. I thoroughly enjoyed this series, all stand alone books.

Caleb lives on the wrong side of danger. His job as a firefighter is a thrilling one, but one wrong move could be a fatal one. So it's interesting that he would chose to get involved with a woman with enough edges to put his heart at risk. Ava is an artist that escapes her pain and trust issues by creating. She transfers all her emotions onto canvas as a coping mechanism. When the wounded warrior princess meets the dangerously appealing adrenaline junkie sparks fly, lines are crossed and the healing starts. Ms. Morey is not afraid to go into some of the darkest places to enlighten and inspire readers. Burning Love is the product of a compassionate person and a talented author.

Had a little trouble getting into this one. Starts out with Caleb fighting a brush fire, and the next chapter going to have wild sex with Ava. She grumbles a bit because he interrupts her painting, but gives in to his needs. Nothing wrong with it, but just seemed so superficial, and I didn't really care for either character very much. Hard to stay interested, although I did stick through to the end. It does get better, but was slow to start. Would recommend, especially if you like reading about Australia, but I probably would not read again.

Burning Love was probably my least favourite of this series and a disappointing end as well. While I enjoyed the concept of the story, it never really grabbed me, and I struggled with the characters’ personas and needed to push through to the end. The author did attempt to explain the reasons behind certain events, but it just didn’t keep my interest like the previous books.
My 3 Star rating is for the good parts.

Burning Love by Trish Morey is different from the last books in the series of Hot Aussie Knights. Caleb is in a causal when-the-urge-hits type of relationship with Ava. Both seem fine with this set up until Caleb isn’t. Ava has issues that come out over the course of the story while Caleb is hardworking and likable. It is refreshing to read of a male who wants more of a real relationship instead of the physical being enough.

This story has a darker side than the previous stories, making it harder for me to identify with the characters especially Ave. So I struggled to believe that they could have more together. Caleb is by far my favorite of the two characters. Some people are easy to like but just hard to love like Ava. I give points for the author having Caleb go the extra mile to show that all deserve to be loved.

Burning Love by Trish Morey
Hot Aussie Knights #4

In the final installment of the Hot Aussie Knights series Trish Morey tells us more about twin and firefighter, Caleb Knight. He is a man that has given up on the idea of love that ends in marriage, children and a happy ride into the sunset with one special woman. He has opted, instead, for the friends with benefits idea and for one year has had one person he has gone to for release – Ava Mattiske. As the story begins Caleb has needed to get the thoughts from a bad day at work out of his head so visits Ava and in so doing it puts a glitch in their open, easy, no feelings or strings attached relationship. As both begin to wonder if what they have can continue as it has the fire season is heating up in Adelaide and it surrounding territory. With a background that is disturbing but eked out gradually one can sympathize and understand a bit more the seemingly cold Ava but it is not easy to see Caleb wanting and giving and her not reciprocating. Whether or not the two can have a HEA is going to require putting some demons to bed for both Caleb and Ava and how they manage to do so is not easy. The ending brings all four of the couples together for a fire fighters’ convention and wedding – great way to tie up the loose ends of the series so thank you very much for that.

I liked this book and felt it was interesting in that it was quite a bit different than the other books preceding it. Ava is not amnesic or an old flame from the past or a one night stand that became more. No, she is a damaged but strong woman that has risen from the ashes but who has scars that she still needs to deal with. And, Caleb is a man that is family oriented, knows what he wants, giving, kind and patient. I wished that Ava had been more open and giving BUT understood why she was not. I wished, at times, that Caleb could have found someone easier as his mate BUT began to understand why he chose Ava…though another woman might have been easier. Ah well…good book in a fun series and…

I would like to thank NetGalley and Tule Publishing for the ARC – This is my honest review.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I really enjoyed it. This was a unique romance - a couple that has a benefits relationship trying to turn it into more. Flawed characters, steam and a romance they have to work for - I really enjoyed this book!

2.5 stars.

The Hot Aussie Knights series ends on a slightly dark note with a friends-with-benefits romance that’s more about the benefits than the friends part. Caleb is a pretty straight forward guy, but Ava has serious trust issues that stem from a dark secret she hides in her past.

This secret is teased out across the course of the book, and while it goes a long way to explaining why Ava is the way she is, it also doesn’t help get over the fact that she’s just really reserved. Despite the chemistry between her and Caleb, she’s quite cold and hard to get to know because she keeps so much of herself hidden. I know why she does that, but the lack of emotion meant the push-pull between her and Caleb was lacking any real weight for me. What she really needs is a bit of therapy, but what she gets is Caleb, an art exhibition and a bushfire. Which apparently works for her, so great.

This book isn’t your usual romance because Caleb and Ava have been seeing each other for a year, casually hooking up when they have the urge and the time. They’re not friends, they’re barely acquaintances, but there is a measure of comfort in their relationship. The problem here is that there isn’t any romance or much development. Caleb starts wanting more, Ava gets twitchy, and the book is a mish-mash of variations on this theme.

It could have been an angst-ridden mess, it could also have been an emotional ride that wrung every last drop out of the issues between them and Ava’s history. It was neither. My emotions weren’t stirred at all, which considering the subject matter and the risk factor is kind of disappointing. I wanted to feel for both Ava and Caleb as they sorted out their relationship and fought for each other (and potentially their lives), but I couldn’t.

Mostly I just thought they weren’t all that well matched, chemistry aside, with Caleb doing all the work and putting in all the emotion, while Ava never seemed that bothered. For someone who values control as much as she did, she was rather passive. I spent most of the book more interested in why Caleb never seems to talk to his twin, or his cousins and enormous family. However, I did enjoy the firefighting stuff and it was good to finally get the results of the investigation – even if it did feel tacked onto the end as an afterthought.

So, in all, this was a slightly disappointing end to the series. I appreciate that it tried to be a little different to the rest and take a darker tone, but it sadly didn’t quite work for me.

Burning Love is the fourth book in the Hot Aussie Knights series with different authors penning each book. This was an ok read for me, I struggled to connect to the characters. In saying that though there were parts of the story I quite enjoyed which is why I am giving it three stars.
