This is my first book by this author, friend to lovers the storyline was okay but when you have read as many of friends to lovers as I have it all becomes blurred.

Absolutely loved this best friends to lover story involving the bad boy of hockey, Chase "Sin" Barrett and Cassie Desrosiers who is an executive for an IT Firm. They have been best friends since college, never crossing the line. When Cassie has to go to Vegas for a convention where she is going to be the keynote speaker she invites Chase to go with her. Her assistant and bestie, Natalie, books their room and gets them a suite, so they are basically sharing space. On the first night there they over-imbibe and on a whim Cassie decides she wants to get married, "it's what her mother would do" and Chase will do anything to make her happy. Not remembering what happened that night, they are both unaware what happened until much later and after missing her keynote speech repercussions and losing her job follow them back to Texas. What does happen is their friendship crosses over into so much more. After all, what happens in Vegas doesn't always stay there. I cannot wait to see what happens in the rest of this series!

Oh this book made me so angry and if it weren't for the assistant, Natalie and Chase's fathers, I may have stopped reading. I don't do spoilers in reviews but there is a plot decision by the author that made me so enraged, I wanted to throw my Kindle. I also hated Chase and his cocky attitude from the start. "I'm Chase, I'm a hockey god, I can do what I want so I'm going to walk into my best friend's house when I know she has a guy there and pretend to be involved with her." Not that Cassie was much better when this happened because she just sort of let him railroad her but ugh.

Steamy, sexy, everything you want from a modern romance novel. I don't think I'll ever tire of the bad boy trope. And that cover *swoon*. They really have the smoldering thing down.

I'm clearly on a friends to lovers kick and this book does not disappoint! This has the bad boy of hockey and his best lady friend crossing that line.
The line she wouldn't cross.
The line he really wanted to cross.

One crazy night changes everything.

You'll love the banter. You'll love the chemistry. You'll love these two as you watch them fall in love!

I unfortunately wasn't able to read this because at the time I had just lost my mother and had a lot going on. However the synopsis was right up there with everything I love about romances and I thank netgalley for the Arc in exchange for an honest review

Thanks for the opportunity to read and review Bad Reputation. I've struggled to get into it so far, so I won't be reviewing at this time. If I do get to it in the future, I will review at that time.

Nicole Edwards is always going to give you a steamy story, but throw in a best friends to lovers angle, and I'm all in!

I loved Chase and Cassie from the start. Yes, we already know what's going to happen-the blurb tells us-but this such a fun and entertaining ride getting us there!

Chase is sex on a stick, walking god among women, a nickname of Sin personafide. He's a superstar athlete who uses that to his advantage. Cassie has been his best friend since college. He spends a lot of time with her. She's safe...until she isn't!

Cassie is a VP for an IT company and is reading to launch a new product line. Her stress is through the roof! To make matters worse, her mom is over the top about her clock ticking, and ovaries drying up, and all that jazz. Cassie starts to look at Chase a little differently. Then she invites him to Vegas and you know how that saying goes!

I am a fan of Nicole and her writing style is effortless to read. I like finding out what made these characters click and how one affected the other. It was an enjoyable journey I highly recommend!

I feel like friends turned lovers has been played out in every possible form- and this felt like nothing new. It felt like the same old, same old. No outstanding characters, in fact I really didn’t care much for Chase.

BAD REPUTATION - Nicole Edwards

#1 in the Bad Boys of Hockey romance series

GREAT CHARACTERS - 4 stars

Plot - 4 stars - Chase is a professional hockey star with the reputation of being a player, both on and off the ice. But his relationship with Cassie is strictly platonic, best friends since college, they support each other. But, other people are suggesting that their relationship might be more sexual, and they're both starting to recognize that it might be what they both want. But neither wants to be the first to admit it, just in case the other doesn't want it.

Writing - 4 stars - Edwards drew me in to the story right away. I loved her introduction of Chase, and I was immediately drawn into his life. She began each chapter with an excerpt from an interview with Chase, which set up the following story and caught my interest.

Characters - 4.5 stars - This is where the story shone for me. Although Chase is kind of an over-the-top macho jerk (and I probably wouldn't like him in real life), I found him inexplicably attractive, crazy, fun, and totally hot. As you get to know him (especially through Cassie's eyes) you realize that he is basically a nice guy who builds on his tough-guy persona to get his hockey enforcer job done. He's intense about his job, and that carries over into his personal life. But he's definitely caring, non-judgmental, and friendly. Cassie is extremely professional and upwardly-mobile, but when she relaxes, she's totally fun and a great match for Chase. But she's pretty up-tight and obsessed with her job, so when she lets her hair down, it's unusual and surprising, making her much more approachable.

Title - 4 stars - Chase doesn't bother to change his bad reputation, even though a lot of it's not true. He just doesn't care enough to bother to set the record straight. But he's not quite the bad boy that everything thinks he is. And after Cassie's escapades in Las Vegas, her reputation turns out to be as bad as Chase's.

Cover - 4 stars - Extremely hot guy, with an attractive girl in his arms. A little different from the typical romance genre, but very hot.

Overview - 4 stars - This was a good combination of excellent characters along with a fun and interesting story. Chase is the ultimate bad boy of hockey, with a heart of gold. Cassie is the ultimate professional, with a wild side. And when they let their hair down in Las Vegas, all bets are off. It was fun to watch them allow themselves to have fun. And then it was frustratingly entertaining to see them try to fight their feelings for each other, each vulnerable to the other. Very cute. I very much enjoyed reading this new-to-me author and will definitely look for more from her.

Sexy, fun and swoon-worthy story with a trip to Sin-City by Chase “Sin” Barrett.
Chase Barrett is best friends with Cassie, who makes it a point to tell everyone, especially herself, that Chase is “just a friend”. Chase is a love-em and leave-em kind of guy and Cassie is not willing to lose her best friend for one night of fun. The hockey season just came to an end and Cassie’s job is taking her to Vegas ... so she invites Chase to come with her ... because what happens in Vegas - stays in Vegas! But what do you do when you can’t remember what happened in Vegas? Cassie and Chase find themselves questioning what happened the night before because all they can remember is the amount of Patron they drank. When the biggest twist of the story happens in Vegas, will Cassie be able to forgive herself or quietly blame Chase? I can’t wait to read more in this series by Nicole Edwards.
I received a copy of this ebook from NetGalley for an honest review.

Jason Stone has won three super bowls and is on the road to his fourth after being traded to the Dallas Wranglers his hometown team, what better way to win and retire. Savannah is the owner's daughter who also happens to be the Executive Vice President and head of Public relations for the team. One night they see each other in the club Savannah knows who Stone is but he doesn’t know who she is. They have one crazy night together and don’t exchange names. She is all he can think of but he doesn’t think he will ever see her again until he finds himself at a party at her father's house.

Nicole Edwards doesn’t let us down. This story is hot and steamy and draws you in from the beginning. Stone is a total alpha male, hot, sexy and sweet. Savannah is an independent woman who is used to being in control but finds she likes when someone else takes control in the bedroom. The chemistry was off the charts! This is another must read from Nicole Edwards!

This is a friends to lovers romance that was sweet, hot and had me laughing out loud. I have to admit that I thought maybe a Chase would have had a little more bad boy in him but overall I enjoyed it.

I requested this book from Netgalley but I have no idea why. I am not interested in sports. I’m guessing it was the cover.

I managed to get through this one despite myself. It was touch and go there for a bit, I’m not even going to attempt to pretend otherwise. Only my laziness to figure out what I wanted to read next kept me going. One of these days I will learn how to DNF correctly.

Chase is a rich and famous hockey star and has a reputation as being “the bad boy of hockey” because he’s a trouble maker on the ice and he likes to sleep with women. Ummm, ok. He’s young, he’s loaded and he’s beautiful. I’d say that’s pretty normal not “bad” but what do I know? He is secretly in love with his best friend Cassie but he knows he can never share his feelings because it will destroy their close friendship. Thus, all the sleeping around with the hockey “bunnies”.

After Chase scares off Cassie’s latest date (in a real jerky alpha move) she laughs it off and calls him an asshole but she is relieved. She is focused on her career and moving on up and isn’t seriously pursuing a relationship. She’d much rather hang out with Chase and his friends than some random boring guy anyway. And when your best friend is a hockey god normal guys don’t stand a chance.

My description is making this sound dreadful, I know that and it’s not. At least not yet!

Cassie is chosen to make a key note speech and present a huge rollout for her company. This is a BIG deal for Cassie. It takes weeks of preparation and will help her reach her goals. The trip is in Vegas. She decides to take Chase with her and it’s here that the story goes all to hell for me. I won’t spoil it for everyone dying to read it but I will say that some colossally idiotic behavior goes down and Cassie ends up looking like a complete idiot when it was all said and done.

You might be able to get past that and forget about it. Not I. She is only 28 at the time, you might say, but at 28 I already had two kids, a mortgage, and a full time job and was well on the way to becoming the grumpy reader I am today. 28 is old enough to know better than to act like a coed on spring break. Cassie, up until Vegas, was painted as a responsible, intelligent woman so none of this made sense. This Vegas nonsense tainted the rest of the story for me because after Vegas happened I didn’t give any craps about her and her relationship with Chase.

So, as I mentioned, I did carry on after taking a little break and a few deep cleansing breaths. What followed wasn’t really worth the effort. Their sexy times were hot, I’ll give them that, but that’s not enough to carry me through a book like this when their thoughts and self-talk are repetitive and tedious. Chase describes Cassie as “hilarious” but I never saw it which is a crying shame. Telling me someone is hilarious does me no good at all when they come across as average to boring on the page. They say love is blind though and I do believe it is true. Ah well, perhaps I’m just too grouchy for this kind of book.

2 ½ stars
