A solid start to this new series by Katie Reus. I'm hoping for a bit more from the other books in the series.

I really loved Skye, she was a badass but Reus gave her vulnerability and a great sense of humor.

Wow, I did not see this one coming.
I knew going in that this series was going to be a little bit different, similar to the Red Stone Security series in some ways perhaps, but I had no idea how different it truly would turn out to be. I have never read a story with Katie’s stamp on it that I didn’t love, but this new series is sure to be one that will capture my heart and keep me coming back for more for a long time to come. The series ultimately seems to revolve around a bunch of longtime friends that have banded together to right the wrongs and fight the injustices in the world around them, which is one of my favorite premises for all series. This first book contains a lot of getting-to-know-you moments with the characters while at the same time we get a truly unique and wonderful story for Skye and Colt. Colt has determined that though he lost the love of his life, he is going to do everything in his power to return his friend’s wife to him when he hears a rumor that she might still be alive. Imagine his surprise when his rescue mission is interrupted because she has already been rescued, by a mysterious woman that refuses to share her identity with her rescuee or the people that she is helping. But there’s no stopping Colt on a mission and when he finds that the women he has been tailing is his lover—his supposedly dead lover—Colt’s heart is shattered all over again. Skye gave up the love of her life in order to keep him and his family safe, but now that he knows she is alive there is no way to push him away again, and her heart can't truly take the pain of denying herself his love anymore. Overcoming their hurts is the least of their problems though as an old enemy surfaces and forces them to come to terms with one another enough to work together to stay alive. I enjoyed getting to see Colt and Skye working together and slowly healing and renewing their love, even knowing that they both still had serious issues to overcome in order to be together again. While there were some slow moments, as is common in any first book in a series, Katie never leaves you in a lull for long and soon you are right back in the thick of things with danger around every corner. Colt was a sexy man with some serious heart and seeing him dealing with his pain brought a tear to my eye more than once, but when his anger burned it was just as painful to see. While Skye understands his anger on some level, she still loves him so deeply that it is impossible for her to truly understand why he cannot understand her reasons for deceiving and protecting him. I loved both Skye and Colt and of course the passion between them was beyond sexy to experience, leaving me reaching for the ice water more than once. I also enjoyed getting to know some of the other characters that will be getting books in the future as well as seeing the love between Colt's friends that were already hooked up. This series will truly be about a family and the open hearts that will be expanding to allow the lovers of the members to join them and I cannot wait to see it happen. Another masterful work of art, Katie!

I am a Katie Reus fan, I enjoy all of her books. My favorite series by her are the Deadly Ops and Moon Shifter. Resurrection is the first book in a new series and in her true fashion she gave us another addicting romantic suspense with a kick ass heroine and a hero that we can't help but fall in love with. I can't wait so see where she takes this series.

Katie Reus is an author who can write paranormal and romantic suspense equally well.

Resurrection follows Skye, who faked her death as a CIA agent, to protect the man she loved. When she helps a friend of his who has been kidnapped, she comes face to face with Colt again. This time, he is not about to let her go.

Taut suspense, CIA agent action, suspense and more keep the pages turning rapidly in this story. Fans of Suzanne Brockmann will enjoy this series from an author who is rapidly gaining momentum.

Another hit for Katie! This was a page turner that I just couldn’t put down! A romantic suspense story that only got better from word one! Skye and Colt’s story was simply amazing, and I loved that Skye did what she did for Colt!

Her time was running out….

The tidings of a new series from Katie Reus is exciting news indeed! Resurrection by Katie Reus marks the impressive debut of Katie’s new Redemption Harbor romantic suspense series. As all of Katie’s stories do, Resurrection drew me in from the start. Since this is the first book in the series, it also introduces the cast of characters many of whom are friends who have known each other since childhood. There’s unquestionably a score between Colt and his father that I hope Katie will delve into in future installments too. This is primarily the story of CIA operatives Colt Stuart and Skye Arévalo with a second couple figuring strongly, ex-linebacker Mercer and his wife, Mary Anne, an oncologist. The story is aptly told from their four viewpoints so you get into each of their heads at the appropriate times.

I’m not going to go into the story… You can read the blurb if you want a quick synopsis. Believe me, having this story unfold as you read is a breathtaking experience that you won’t soon forget.

The characters are likeable and come across as totally realistic. Colt has been mourning Skye’s death from an explosion while she was on an undercover operation for six long months when he shockingly comes face-to-face with her while rescuing his friend, Mary Anne, from a Mexican cartel. For Colt and Skye, this story is a second chance for them to connect. They are perfectly paired and have a combustible chemistry. Their sexy times are steamy with a capital S. Both Colt and Skye are my heroes: loyal, smart, tough and caring. I especially like that Colt wasn’t threatened in the least by Skye’s badassery and that she is comfortable in her own skin.

Mary Anne had been reported dead with a team of medical personnel who had been horrifically gunned down two months ago. Ends up that she was the lone survivor… Mary Anne was everyone’s friend and Mercer’s everything.

The cast of other characters are just as phenomenal and incredibly drawn. I can’t wait to read their stories in the following books!

Following please find a few of my favorite quotes from Resurrection:

“Your dick is mine… along with the rest of you.”
---

“I should put a bullet in you right now, you stubborn jackass.”
“Good. I’ll have a scar to match the last time you stabbed me,” he snapped.
---

“There’s never been anyone but you.”
---

"Blood makes you related. Love and loyalty makes you family."

I listened to the audio which was expertly voiced by Sophie Eastlake. Sophie never fails to produce a flawless and polished performance and Resurrection is not an exception. She voices multiple characters consistently differentiating between them. Both her male and female voices sound genuine and she exudes all the proper emotions. Her voice is crystal clear and easy to understand. I love to listen to her narrations as they always make my listening experience a joy.

I am addicted to Katie’s books. Resurrection is hair-raising and packed with passion and danger from the start to the finish. The romance and the suspense are heart and soul intertwined – one never overshadows the other. The surprising twist at the end left me appreciating karma and grinning like a Cheshire cat. There’s no cliffhanger ending, but readers will undeniably be enticed to pick up the sequel, which is thankfully already available. Savage Rising is already queued on my phone ready for me to hit play! If you enjoy hot romance paired with edge-of-your-seat-suspense-which-never-lets-up in an action-packed, fast-paced adventure, I highly recommend that you check out Resurrection soon!!!!!

I absolutely adore Katie Reus! I'm so happy we're getting more books from her. Resurrection is the first title in the Redemption Harbor series. When I first read the summary of this book I was thinking here we go again another character faking their death and the troubles that follows. But Ms. Reus doesn't give us the same tired cliches. (Thumbs up for that.) Sky faked her death to protect Scott a former Marine. Seven (best) friends live in Redemption Harbor.

This is the first book in new series Redemption Harbor, and it begins with a bang! Or a flash bang, rather.

Colt is part of the CIA, and his last partner, and the woman that he loved, was killed in an explosion. He's spent months grieving, but now his friend needs his help. His friend's wife was killed in Mexico, but Colt has heard rumors that she may not have been killed, but rather kidnapped. Not wanting to get his buddy's hopes up, he decides to go in alone and find out if she's still alive.

Skye faked her own death in order to save the man she loved, and his friends. It's the only way. We don't know why, right off the bat, but we do know that he believes she's dead. And we know she's been living under the radar in Mexico. When she hears that a local cartel lord has a doctor being held hostage, she's curious. Finding out the woman was Mary Grace, one of Colt's friends, Skye knows she has to rescue her. So she does. Right before Colt is about to do the same.

Colt finding out that Skye isn't dead is so emotional. He's not even mad, he's just so happy she's alive. These two are perfect for each other. And Colt makes Skye see that he's not going anywhere, and she can trust him with her problems. He knows she wouldn't have faked her death and gone underground if it weren't something huge.

And he's right. It is huge.

Told through a combination of flashbacks and current action, we see how Skye and Colt got together, and why and how she faked her own death. And why she's "back from the dead." I enjoy this author's writing style, and her Romantic Suspenses are almost always tinged with the political thriller vibe. She uses current events and realistic characters to push her stories.

I loved how everyone came together, how we get to see how and why the new security company is formed. She is able to set up the series without making the reader feel either overwhelmed with too much information, or make you feel like you're missing something because she's so busy setting everything up. This book is the perfect blend of a standalone Romantic Suspense, and the beginning to a new series with all the backstory you need.

For an emotional and action-packed story, Resurrection delivers.

Honestly, this book was amazing! Fast-paced, bad-ass heroines and their strong and loving partners, an amazing story - all in all, a thrilling book that kept me hooked till the last page. The group of friends watching out for each other, the amazing characters whose chemistry is off the charts and makes you feel how much they really love each other.
There were times when I wasn't sure if the story might get foreseeable but each time the author surprised me with the direction the story took and I was very happy to see that our hero and our heroine were strong enough to fight for what they want. They don't give up, they fight and they do it together with their friends.

And don't get me started on those friends, they are simply amazing. Close-knit, standing up for each other, caring and having each other's backs. Always, no matter what happens.
It was sweet to see tough Skye find her place in this group, to see her fall in love with Colt all over again (not that she ever stopped laving him) and to see how much he cares for her in return.

I'm definitely looking forward to reading the other books in this series!

Title: Resurrection
Series: Redemption Harbor Book #1
Author: Katie Reus
Genre: Romance

Blurb: She faked her own death…Skye Arévalo left the CIA and faked her death to protect Colt Stuart, the only man she ever loved. Months later, a brutal kidnapping draws her to quietly infiltrate a dangerous cartel. Just when she thinks she’s home free, things go horribly wrong and she escapes with bloodthirsty enemies on her heels…only to find herself face to face with a bewildered and angry Colt.

He’ll cross every line to save her…When Colt, a former Marine, finds out the woman he loved betrayed him, he’s shocked and hurt, but it doesn’t stop him from breaking every law on the books to keep her alive. Unfortunately, it might not be enough to stop a powerful enemy who will do anything to see the world burn and Skye dead.

Thoughts: My thoughts on Resurrection? I thought I would be blown away, honestly. We have a guy who loves a woman so much that he has been grieving for her for months…then stunned by the fact that she is alive. We are talking about a woman who loved a man so much that she fakes the unthinkable…her own death…..to protect him. Can you imagine a better book that is set to wring every possible strong emotion from you? For me, I really expected a stronger emotional pull between these characters and a book that left you in shock and awe over how great it was – and it just fell a little short for me in that area.
I enjoyed the story and the characters, and I really liked how Colt discovered she was alive in the first place. I liked all the secondary characters and I look forward to other books in the series. I thought the end could have been a little less pat and predictable. As first books go, I thought it was a strong initial book for a new series that introduced all the characters and built the foundation for more. I enjoyed it overall, but was expecting a bit more from this book.

Skye Arevalo is the daughter of famed Spies and was a star at the CIA..well before she had to fake her own death to save her lover and his friends.

Colt Stuart is still reeling after the loss of Skye but is trying to help his friend Mercer who has also lost his wife in a bombing. But when information reaches him that Mary Grace may still be alive he makes plans to go and rescue her himself in case anything goes wrong. But when he arrives he finds that MG has already been saved and is stunned to see that it is Skye!!!

Skye couldn't leave Colts friend in the hands of the cartel but she now has a lot of explaining to do and she is unsure if she will ever be free to love Colt again. She has a price on her head after double crossing the man who tried to have her steal a bio-weapon and he has a long reach within the spy world.

Skye is no wimpy damsel in distress. She is rough, tough and badass!! I loved how Colt doesn't try to downplay her talents and acknowledges that she is better than him at shooting, etc. He loves that she is capable and can take care of herself and totes around C4 like other women tote make up!

I loved the little flashbacks to how Skye and Colt met and fell in originally. They were adoradbly sweet and hot at the same time!

I really enjoyed this book. I loved that there were dual storylines and I loved reading about Colt and his close knit group of friends. I love that they've all grown up together and that there's so much history. Colt is a strong hero with a heart of gold. He's everything you want in a leading man.

Skye is a freakin' boss! She is a tough woman with a snarky mouth and wicked sense of humor. She's also harboring a lot of secrets. Skye is confident, mysterious and very dangerous. I wanted to be Skye! Colt and Skye had great chemistry and are brilliant characters together as well as apart.

The story was fast-paced, exciting and engaging. What I really liked about the book is the mystery surrounding every character. Everyone's got hidden depths or perplexing pasts that both intrigue and warn you away from. I must know more about them. The secondary characters are vital to the story.

RESURRECTION definitely captured my attention and held it tightly until the very end. I'm looking forward to the next book!

A new series by Katie Rues. YES! To say I’m a little happy is just like saying the sun is a little hot. I love this author’s military romance books. They are filled with suspense, fighting, and love, all wrapped in a pretty hot cover.

This new series is about a group of friends that grew up together in Redemption Harbor. One of them went missing/died when on a missionary trip to Mexico. Our hero in this book, Colt is out to save his longtime friend Mary Grace once he gets a tip that she is still alive. As he sets out on his own to rescue her, he finds out that she has already been rescued. By the woman that he thought died six months prior in an op, the woman that he loved with all his heart.

The story is strong, characters are amazing, they have good chemistry, and are all in different lines of work within the military. Looks like there will be lots of room for many more books in this series, and I’m so happy to see that book number 2 is already up for pre-order!

Katie Reus gave us another flawless romantic suspense with a kick ass heroine and a swoon-worthy hero!!! And it is 100% safe ladies!!

Legendary CIA agent, Skye Arevalo fakes her own death to keep her partner/lover, Colt Stuart, alive. Faking her death was easy, trying to stay in the shadows while hunting the man who destroyed her life is another matter. When she hears through her contact that Colt's childhood friend Mary Grace, isn't dead but actually being held hostage at a drug cartel compound, Skye can't walk away.

Walking away from Colt was the hardest thing Skye had ever had to do. Getting in and busting his friend out is a small price to pay to the man who came to mean more to Skye than anything else in the world.

For six months, Colt thought his best friend and love of his life, Skye has been dead. To come face to face with her, alive and whole, Colt sees this as his second chance to grab hold of his woman and never let her go.

When the threat to Skye is revealed, Colt will do everything in his power to make sure Skye is finally safe and finally by his side, where she belongs.

What I loved:
I loved everything about this book. Resurrection was action packed, adrenaline fueled, had great side characters, sweet romance, scorching off-the-charts heat and all around feel good moments.
Skye is one of my top fave heroinces. She's smart, funny, sweet, awkward but so endearing. She is the type of heroine we need to see more of. She was independent, strong and capable. Her interesting upbringing and her skills made her an oddity but she was comfortable in her own skin.

She was perfectly matched with Colt, and I loved him for being a man confident enough and smart enough to appreciate Skye. He saw her differences and appreciated them for what they were. He embraced her quirks, admired her strengths and accepted her whole heartedly.

He realized early on that she was it for him. I loved that he was strong enough for both of them and wasn't afriad to express the depths of his feeling for Skye. He was devoted, determined and 100% in love. *sigh*

Colt is one of Katie Reus' best heroes. I have a serious crush on him!

Between the awesomeness that is Skye and swoon-worthy Colt, there was nothing I didn't love about Resurrection. Katie Reus is fast becoming my top go-to author.

Favorite Lines:
"Blood makes you related. Love and loyalty makes you family."

Memorable Moments:
I really found myself enjoying the flashbacks of Skye and Colt's relationship. The beginning of their romance was sweet and fresh and wildly addictive. I liked watching them sharing and bonding. I don't normally like flashbacks but in this one, I actually found myself wishing for more flashbacks. Colt and Skye are just so awesome that any extra glimpse of them together was a bonus for me.

I cannot recommend this one enough. I loved the story, the H and h, the epilogue, the romance, the love story, the friendships and the family love that bonds the characters. A must read!!! I have got to make time to read the author's book list!!

I’ve been on a Katie Reus kick lately so when I saw Resurrection on Netgalley and noted it was the first in a new series I jumped on it. Like the previous KR books I’ve read, this had an interesting storyline with some awesomely great characters but there were some plot holes and timeline jumps that bugged the crud out of me.

He stripped her until she was emotionally naked, vulnerable, unable to hide who she truly was to him. The man saw straight through to the core of her.

I’ll talk up what worked first.I loved both Colt and Skye. Both CIA agents who were equally badass. He is sexy as hell, and oh so good with Skye and all her hang-ups. In fact, I loved the times when they were together because he knew how to overcome his Skye’s issues and insecurities without steamrolling over her. He let her do what she needed to do and actually partnered with her instead of trying to take over. He knew if he tried to roll her up in bubble wrap and keep her from harm, she’d shove that stuff right where the sun doesn’t shine.

“I have a capacity for creating maximum damage when necessary. It’s one of my best skill sets.”

As for Skye, I think I have a girl crush. She is as tough and capable as they come. In fact, I think she could take Colt. Her idea of an essential to keep with you isn’t lipstick, it’s C4. And don’t even get me started on her choice in underwear. I want to shop where she does. She has some issues and quirks but they make her more lovable rather than annoying.

I loved all of Colts friends too. They are a diverse group with skill sets I want to know more about. Mercer and Mary Grace were the cornerstones of the group and they had kind of a sweet, action packed story within a story happening. Mary Grace’s problems had shaken the group to their core and brought them all home, which is really where they’d belonged, working together to save her once they discovered the truth.

Now for the issues I encountered. It felt as if the story started in the middle and I was missing vital information. At random intervals, we would jump back in the timeline and things would be disclosed all willy-nilly. I actually got so annoyed I put the book down and read something else to clear my mind. By not getting to see the romance start from the beginning I think we missed out on the emotional connection they had built up and how low Colt was brought down when he believed Skye was dead.

Another problem with the way the book was laid out is that I never felt like I completely got their back stories. Yes, I loved both characters but I would have loved them more if I had been given a deeper understanding of their issues. We know there are problems between Colt and his Dad, but it doesn’t really give us the whys and wherefores. It was the same with Skye and her dead parents. We know her upbringing was difficult for her, but we never get below the surface of why it translated to her being so skittish with love.

The biggest issue of all was that I thought Skye faking her death was stupid. This was cemented into fact by the problem being dealt with so easily after she came clean. As I read this, my mind kept going over so many scenarios that would have better served Skye and not made her look like a dumbass for not being forthcoming from the beginning. To add to it, the circumstances of her death and the item she had when she did it didn’t make sense at all. Did she destroy what she stole and if so how, because blowing it up seemed dangerous?

So once again I find myself in a rating quandary. I loved the characters and found it interesting, but my issues with it drove me batshit crazy. I also want everyone else’s story. I think I’m going to chalk it up to first-in-series-itis and one click the next one as fast as I can when it comes out.

Rating: 3.5 I’ve Got a Girl Crush on Skye Stars

Katie Reus has done it again! She's created yet another roller coaster ride that will have you on the edge of your seat and up way past your bedtime because you just HAVE to know what happens next!

Resurrection, the kickoff to her new Redemption Harbor series, is wild ride, so strap in. It starts off meeting Colt, Brooks and Mercer, brothers by choice. You're then swept away to deep in the cartels in Mexico. There are daring rescues, and more than one person comes back from dead.

I love everything about both Skye and Colt. Skye was different, whether it was nurture or nature (a little of column A, little of column B), it doesn't matter, because she has a strong sense of self and a code she adheres to. Colt is all Alpha, but so secure in himself, he can actually admit his feelings and his own blind spots.

Not only is this book HAWT, its action packed. Reus keeps the story moving and action coming. She keeps the reader engaged with flashbacks and humor throughout.

If you love romantic suspense, Resurrection is a MUST add to your TBR!

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.
I love this new series! I loved how it started out with Colt and Mercer – both battling their grief after losing their woman but the great part is that both women are still alive! Skye was such a cool agent – she didn’t let many people in and was a real bad-ass when it came to her fighting or blowing something up! It was great that Skye was willing to rescue Mary Grace even though it could compromise her “death” because she knew that this woman was important to Colt.
Colt had such a great assortment of friends that he could rely on so when they decided to go after the man who threatened Skye, they made the perfect team.
There was many facets to this story – second chance romance, coming back from the dead, intrigue, murder, and revenge! The action was non-stop and I had to keep reading until I finished the book – it really was hard to put the book down once I got started on it.
The ending was great as it wrapped up Skye and Colt’s story and prepared the readers for the start of the series of these friends from Redemption Harbor. Plus, I loved that Colt Senior walked Skye down the aisle and confessed to her that he was not a great father. I hope we see more of him in future books, also!
