IF YOU WERE INNOCENT, YOU'D REMEMBER . . . WOULDN'T YOU?

This book was a fascinating mix between a thriller, a psychological drama and a whodunnit.

It has lots of layers, plots, great characters and a gutsy pace that just keeps rolling to the end. Great.

Sometimes the person you thought you knew best...Turns out to be someone you never really knew at all. Blame by Jeff Abbott.

I thought this book was very slow to start, and quite repetitive. I felt it was more a YA book than a psychological thriller.

This is a brilliant modern thriller which is easy to read and difficult to put down. Jane, age 19, was involved in a car crash two years ago and her best friend David died. A suicide note in Jane's handwriting was found at the scene. Jane has no memories of the accident but feels that the suicide note wasn't real. She begins looking for answers and has to find out who she can trust to tell her the truth. There are some exciting twists and turns ahead, making for a great read.

Blooming heck! This book took me all round the houses and back again. It is high octane action most of the way and quite convoluted and interconnected. Definitely not a book to dip into when you have a spare couple of minutes, rather one to save for when you have a couple of decent chunks of time to dedicate to it. I also found it to be a bit addictive as for the majority I, like the main character, had little idea what was going on half the time!
So, two years ago, Jane was in a car crash. A crash that killed her friend David. She has no memory of the crash, in fact she's also lost a couple of years of prior memories too. A note found near the crash site heavily implies that the crash was probably a suicide, or even a murder suicide, and there are some that say that Jane is faking the amnesia. Whether this is true remains to be seen but on face value, we follow Jane as she is in the present. We learn how she has had to re-learn the missing years, being introduced to friends she knows nothing about. Then, one day, she starts to receive messages. Strange cryptic notes. It seems that someone knows the truth and, if it could get more scary, they are out to make those responsible pay. Jane is desperate to get to the truth herself, but how much will that truth cost her and, more importantly, without her memories to guide her, who can she really trust?
Wow! This book took me on one heck of a ride. I've already mentioned that I was pretty much as clueless as Jane for the majority of the book. I found this to be quite in keeping with her character and I think it made me better able to connect with her from the start as we were pretty much in the same boat throughout. Like Jane, I held onto every clue. Every regained memory, every small piece of evidence she uncovered held me pretty much rapt throughout. And when the end game was uncovered, well,,, boy, I never saw that coming! I do love it when I read a book that keeps me guessing right up until the end.
Characterisation was excellent. Especially as for the majority of the book, we only know what they have told Jane about themselves and their relationships and past histories with her. Quite tricky to pull off effectively I would imagine, but executed very well here. Another thing that made my journey really rather interesting as I was also clueless as who to trust along the way!
This is the first book I have read by this author and, considering it ticked all the boxes I need for a great read, including giving me the most important satisfied feeling at the end, I am certain it won't be the last. My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Jane Norton crashed her car two years ago, which resulted in the death of her friend David. She is left with amnesia following the accident. After the accident, a note written by Jane is found; it states "I wish we were dead together." Jane wishes she remembers if she really wanted to die with David. She doesn't remember why she and David were together or why they were on the road where the accident occurred. She is really spooked when she receives an anonymous message stating, "I know what really happened. I know what you don't remember."

This book is very good, although not one of Jeff Abbott's best. It still has plenty of plot twists and suspense to keep the reader interested. The ending was a bit unbelievable, but as I often say about movies and TV shows that are somewhat farfetched--just go with it. It was an enjoyable book that I would recommend.

Jeff Abbott is a brilliant writer that is probably most known for his Sam Capra series and other fantastic thrillers. With this book, Abbott strays somewhat from the thriller path trotted in his past 10 books or so. And the result is OK but not great, as I struggled getting through this book at times - a whole new experience for me with an Abbott novel. I can't put a finger on where the weaknesses are, but most likely the many uncertainties, half truths and full lies surrounding a young woman with amnesia did also confuse me and my perception of what had happened.
However, Abbott managed to regain the hold of me again in the last 100 pages or so where a lot goes on in the plot and many pieces of the puzzle are finally falling into place in a plausible manner. Abbott surely knows his craft, but the setting and characters wasn't perfect this time. 4 stars.

Very very good book.
The plot might sound like something you have read before but once you start reading, you know it's different. This book keeps you interested and turning pages like mad. Two thirds into the book I've given up guessing, I just couldn't work out who was the villain and I decided to just sit back, read and enjoy it. I would definitely recommend it. The only minus for me was the ending. I much prefer open endings in this genre that keep you guessing what could have happened after, but that's just my personal preference.

Jeff Abbott's "Blame" was a very captivating read. It kept me guessing until the end and I thoroughly enjoyed the process of reading. I have previously read Jeff Abbott's Sam Capra series, that I absolutely adored. This is a completely different type of novel. There isn't as much action involved and I must admit I missed that. Than again, some people might find this kind of a quiet suspenseful read more appealing. All in all, it was a great book. Thank you so much to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this book.
