The forgotten war. As the remaining WWII veterans are at the end of their lives, we are now discovering the veterans of the Korean conflict as they are getting the deserved attention for their service. As veterans of a conflict that, other than those lovable soldiers in “MASH”, we learn little about. This personal memoir is a reminder of the service of these forgotten heroes. This author reminds us of the the sacrifice of soldiers for our country, even when there were unclear objectives and horrible conditions and death. This is a great reminder that between WWII and Vietnam, there were other hero’s that we need to recognize.

Drafted into the navy, Leonard served as a corpsman for the marines. He survived deadly and horrible circumstances. He didn't talk about the war we he returned and this book serves as his tribute to the men he served with. I thought this was an excellent book. It was well written and well paced. Overall, highly recommended.
