I did not enjoy reading this book. This one is a about Mary and since I did not care for her I did not enjoy the story. It was like spending a few hours with a very annoying person. The story just kept repeating itself. There are misunderstandings and fights and then they get resolved and there are more misunderstandings and fights. There was a small mystery but the culprit was very easy to figure it. There was some romance but I never felt a connection between the characters. I also had a hard time with the writing. It was as annoying as the characters. This series should be read in order.

I am a fan of this series, especially the second book. This one, however, I didn't like as much as the others. I think Mary was too pasive compared to her other friends, maybe because of her upbringing. Also, she didn't realize the most obvious of things!
Fortunalely, the rest of the crew was as funny as ever, having Bo as the spotlight (that man is the best).

Though I didn't enjoy this as much as I thought, I still want to read the next book, as I'm really interested in Snow's story. I hope it doesn't disappoint!

Picture This is the 3rd book in the Birds of a Farther series by Lena North. This book brings us back to the birds more than the second book, Sweetwater, did.

Mary is a petite girl who just doesn’t have faith that good things can happen to her or that things could ever stay good for her. Her boyfriend and her just do not have the spark that either of them deserve and therefore she breaks up with him and that event sets a chain of events rolling that puts her in danger, but it also unleashes a passion that she has been putting aside for 10 years.

Miller has resisted the temptation that is a feisty little girl for years. He just can’t cope with the fact he is much older then Mary and stands aside as she dates his nephew. But after their break up Mary disappears and he is confronted with the feelings he has hidden for so long.

As things begin to unravel for the couple Mary finds a new hope for happiness and is even able to shed some light on the mystery that Hawker and his gang have been trying to piece together.

I love how this story brings us back to the families and their connection to the birds. The romance is sweet and the age thing doesn’t bother me as Mary is NOT a child. The flow and dynamic of Picture This was on par with the first in the series, Wilder. I love how Mary overcomes her insecurities and shows us her feisty side, the girls got attitude! But in a fun non snobby way.

The ONE thing I absolutely loathed was Miller’s use of the word “baby”! By the end of the book I think I wanted to slap him if he said it one more time. He used it is several different “tones” and it just rubbed my the wrong way. Like she should be channelling Jennifer Gray or something.

I hope that as the series continues we will have more direct use of the birds that this story has. I find it unique and fun.

As for the rating I had to take a star off for all the “baby” so I’m giving it a solid 3 out of 5. Better than Sweetwater not as good as Wilder, but getting there. Its still worth checking out my little booklings.

Mary was just ten years old when her life took a turn for the worse. Her whole family went grocery shopping and Mary felt like a grownup when she was allowed to stay at home alone for the very first time. She waved her family goodbye, not knowing that this would be the last time she would see them alive. Her relatives weren't willing to take in a child who was angry at the world, so Mary ended up in foster care. The years that followed were rough, but all of that changes the night she meets Miller in the bar she works at. Will Mary have the strength to see that not everybody has bad intentions?

Miller is part of a extraordinary clan. The members all have special abilities. Miller and several others can talk to birds. They each have a connection with a bird, that is also being considered a family member. A while ago they found a stone in the mountains and Jinx, who has a super genius mind, is investigating the capacity of this gem. When Mary is being kidnapped, so that they can exchange her for it, everybody is on high alert. A videotape is sent to them, with proof of the horrific way they're treating Mary. Will the clan be on time to rescue Mary and why is this stone so important?

Mary has built a good life for herself. After she found refuge with a loving family when she was just fourteen years old, Mary was able to finally start living again. She found happiness and now she's a skilled artist. Even with all the love that is surrounding her Mary still feels like the broken child nobody wanted. She often misreads what people are saying, thinking that they don't need or want her around. Mary is so strong and resilient and she's a person you just have to love. She's sweet, but she won't let anyone walk all over her. Mary is fierce in her own way and I kept wishing for her to accept that she has found a new family to love her forever.

Miller is a bit older than Mary and he isn't counting on having feelings for her. When she's kidnapped he has to watch her getting beat up and this almost brings him to his knees. He helps Mary to stay sane and slowly makes her confront her nightmares. Miller is a badass warrior, but he's kind and caring at the same time. Mary means everything to him and he'll do whatever it takes to keep her safe. He's patient, but when people are crossing him Miller will go after them with all the weapons he has at his disposal. I loved to read about this big, beautiful man and think Mary couldn't have picked a better person to fall in love with.

Picture This is a fascinating story about understanding what it's like to be part of a big and special family whose members look out for their own. It's the third book in the Birds of a Feather series and I loved it just as much as the previous one, Sweet Water. Every book is about a main character who is a part of the clan and I like it that through each story the reader gets to know this family better and better. Ever since I started reading the Birds of a Feather series I have been hooked. I love the combination of paranormal abilities with normal life and every day struggles. Lena North's writing is honest and real and I could easily sympathize with the main characters. I will absolutely read the rest of the books in this series as well.

Wow these books defy description!

I've read all three books in this series and I'm still not entirely sure whether it is set in a remote area of the US/ Canada or some fictional land where the people are descended from three very different tribes.

This is kind of YA/NA romance, but it isn't. Sort of PNR, but no-one shifts and there are no vampires and they have special powers, kind of military special ops mixed with small town. Hey, I said they defied description.

Mary is the friend of Wilder from the eponymous book Wilder and Jinx from Sweet Water. She had a hard life after her parents died but it started to get better the night after she first met Miller, amusingly it was the infamous night that Hawker lost a bet and had to be one of the performers at the local strip club on Ladies Night!

Although money is tight she is slowly putting herself through college and dreams of using her art qualifications in a swanky art gallery. She is also dating Bo and Carlson's son Kit although it is more out of friendship and convenience than any great love.

But various of Wilder's grandfather's art pieces which he donated to various galleries and museums start to go missing and Mary is kidnapped by a mysterious group of men who know all too much about the special abilities of the group. For those who haven't read either of the previous books (shame on you), the guys are kind of a rough-looking biker-esque group who keep the country safe, into each generation of these families one child is born who has an affinity with a bird, a familiar if you will, a single bird who they can converse with telepathically, but this isn't a whoo-whoo kind of book.

This is definitely (for me) a middle of the arc kind of book, a lot of things happen which help to uncover who is behind all the attacks on Jinx and Mary and the group but they raise a whole load more questions. I liked Mary and her HEA immensely. And the next book is Snow's - can't wait!

So ... if you like YA/NA but are tired of rock stars or billionaire schoolboys or college frat houses and fancy a change I highly recommend this series - hard to categorise but gripping none the less.

Emotionally Turbulent is the best way I can describe this one. It is a powerful story of learning to trust in love, friendship and loyalty when life has taught you not to.  The paranormal elements and scorching romance are cleverly intertwined in this tale of an emotionally damaged heroine and the resilient hero who fight for her.  While this is the third book in the Birds of a Feather series with each one just keeps getting better and better.

I was waiting for this book to go on Netgalley for so long. Every day I would ritualistically check to see if it was there yet, and low and behold, finally it was there and it was just as good as I had hoped it would be. There is something about this series that I find incredibly addicting, the characters are relatable and the situations gain my sympathy. If you've been wondering if you should read this series or not, then rest assured, it's amazing and you really should read it.

In the past two books Mary was kept as a bit of a secret, we didn't know much about her other than she was one in the trio of friends; Wilder, Jinx, and Mary. And the other thing being that's she's kind and sweet. I feel like it might be one of the authors tactics for character development to keep the characters that will have their own books as more of a secret. This is also how I felt about Jinx after reading Wilder. I didn't know all that much about her other than she was smart and Wilder's close friend. Now the same thing with Mary, I have to admit it really is a genius tactic, made me want to know more.

What came as a surprise, was that this book wasn't the most plot filled book, I mean there's a bit of action and mystery, but not as much as there was in the last two books, yet I still loved it. I was never bored and all I wanted to do was read it in my spare time.

The romantic match up in this book was honestly the most surprising of the series. I never even would have guessed that Miller and Mary would end up together. And before anyone get's upset that this may be a spoiler, rest assured, it starts in the prologue. No spoilers here.

Another thing I love about this book series is that, although, it is a series, if you really wanted to you could just read one book. It makes a lot more sense to read the books as a series in order, but if you really wanted to there wouldn't really be a problem in starting in the middle. I would recommend reading it from the beginning though, it helps ease you into meeting all the characters.

My only issue with any of the books in this series is that it doesn't go that deep into the paranormal explanation. There's magic, but we really get no explanation for how it works or why it happens or even what they are. It doesn't really bother me while I'm reading, but when I think about it in the grand scheme of things, it really bothers me.

I like how each of the girls has a different place in their friend group. Wilder is the fighter, she's ready to cut anyone who messes with her friend; Jinx is the brain, she knows how to get things done, she makes the plans and people follow them; Mary is the peacemaker, she is there so that no one ever feels alone or unhappy, she's there to make sure everyone is living their best life and is taken care of. Their friendship is very well rounded and evens itself out.

I recommend this to anyone who loves a good romance and relatable characters of the YA and NA kind.
