Oh my gosh - the recipes in this book look divine. I think often paleo cooking can seem complicated and it can put people off (it definitely does for me) but the recipes in this look pretty simple and easy to make. I can't wait to bust out some of the recipes! They sound like many of them will be big hits- and I love all the sauce recipes too!

My family lives by the crock pot and finding healthy alternatives to cook in it are not always simple. This book is full of great recipes is you are trying to live a low carb or paleo life style. Really great for busy families.

I don’t seem to be as wowed by this cookbook as everyone else—as evidenced by all of the other extremely high ratings. In an effort to cook healthier meals for my family, I’ve been on the search for paleo recipes that don’t take a ton of work on my part, meaning I’ve been wearing out my crock pot/slow cooker. When I saw this collection of recipes offered on NetGalley, I was excited—a whole new realm of paleo possibilities right at my fingertips.

I have to give it to the author, there is quite a variety of recipes within these pages. Some things that I hadn’t even consider making on my own before—like the sauces, condiments and spice mixes—left me feeling like it was time to be a little more adventurous.

While there are quite a few recipes that sound appetizing, the two I’ve made weren’t all that special. The first, beef stroganoff, my husband took two bites of and flat out refused to eat anymore. Have I mentioned that beef stroganoff is usually one of his favorite meals? The other, orange chicken, he suffered through, but told me he would never consider eating it again. While I wasn’t as harsh of a critic as he was—maybe because I was the one that spent the time shopping for the ingredients and actually putting it together—in no way were either of these recipes regular rotation worthy. I wouldn’t say the recipes were complicated, but the additional stovetop steps were kind of a downer—a little bit more involved than just tossing some ingredients in the crockpot. Most importantly was the flavor, both dishes were overly sweet for my palate. I guess I should also note—I followed both recipes exactly.

I’m still hopeful some of the other recipes will work out better for us.

I haven't been using my slow cooker much since I got my Instant Pot, but with fall approaching there is something so comforting about having food cook all day and the wonderful aroma that builds up. We are always trying to eat more healthy, and Paleo recipes fit into that very well. There are a good range of recipes in The Book of Paleo Slow Cooking. My favorite section was the dessert section. There are so many wonderful desserts to choose from and they are not as unhealthy as traditional desserts which I like. My absolute favorite thing about the cookbook though are the diverse recipes. My husband and I like to eat a variety of foods from a variety of cultures, and it is nice that I have several different cuisine types to choose from in one book. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys using a slow cooker.

I thought this cookbook was well written and included a good variety of Paleo recipes. I already follow Natalie Perry's blog, and I was very excited to see this cookbook! I definitely plan on incorporating many of these recipes into my weekly meals, and I think many of these recipes fit my need for meals I can just throw into the Crockpot but that also improve my variety in meals that I can prepare. I thought the organization was also helpful, and I liked the variety of cooking styles available in the book. I definitely plan on buying this cookbook, and I would highly recommend it to fellow Paleo eaters looking to increase their slow cooker recipe collection.

Hard to beat Paleo in a slow cooker!

Wow-this book has it ALL, and the best part is that it focuses not just on Paleo cooking but Paleo INGREDIENTS which have recently been my go to for replacing foods that don’t agree with me.

I had a lot of fun going through this book. The recipes are appealing and pretty dang easy! It’s not just a “throw a bunch of recipes together” kind of book, it truly focuses on what it stands for and offers nice personal notes with each recipe.

From all the cookbooks for this months reviews, I chose to try the slow cooker Chicken Tikka Masala with Cauliflower (from page 106). Since it was totally on a whim, I had everything except the main ingredient-chicken. Turns out, I also was short tomato paste and 1 more Tbsp. of Cumin but I proceeded with the recipe anyway, knowing I could just freeze the marinade and red bell pepper sauce (separately) and then put it all together later. HA!

The day before I made this Tikka Masala with Cauliflower dish, I defrosted both the marinade and the red pepper sauce. I added the raw boneless chicken to the marinade to let it sit overnight (to make the chicken more flavorful, as the recipe suggested).

This recipe did not photograph well AT ALL for me, so we chose to stick with making a video instead.

NOTE: We paired this recipe with a NON SWEET, more on the side of a fruit forward melon/papaya and fresh citrus zing Argentine Torrontés (white wine), and it was a PERFECT match!

A lighter and healthier recipe like this really pushes me to appreciate how fresh food and wine pairings can really highlight each other!

*I received this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review*

I'm so glad to have found a paleo cookbook with slow cooker recipes!!

The focus here are entrees and there is a variety of recipes. I've already picked out a few recipes I want to try sooner or later. I enjoyed that some recipes were very simple (yay for me) and some were more complicated.

It was not very pleasant to look at and the pictures were few, but I can't compare every cookbook to Nom Nom Paleo ^_^ Some more color on the pages I think would have intrigued me more to pay attention.

All in all, I'm excited to try some of these recipes out!

Broad in scope, including many international recipes. Easy to follow instructions. I was impressed!

It is for the carnivorous-minded and does contain a few potato recipes. So those who are potato-averse might need to make a substitution

Intriguing appetizers such as Rosemary Black Pepper Cashews. Inventive recipes such as Sloppy Joe and Sweet Potato Chili, using pickle juice.

So much to cook. It's time to host a dinner party or two!

This title offers lots of great options. The format makes the recipes easily accessible and the pictures make the dishes look appealing. Directions are clear and concise.

It would have been nice to see a few more pictures included. I also would have appreciated seeing calorie and macro breakdowns.

These days there are so many of us eating specialized diets that cookbooks using the familiar appliances we have while still giving us good recipes and great food that fits our specialized diets. All too often though we're disappointed in these cookbooks because they are filled with recipes that create what I think of as "fake" food, that is food carefully engineered using safe ingredients to be "just like" the food it's recreating.

Although there is some of this here, this book puts most of its emphasis on food that is naturally paleo and on paleo-friendly versions of pantry staples (i.e. coconut sugar instead of refined sugar).

As one would expect the recipes put lots of emphasis on the things slow cookers do best, meats, soups, and stews with many yummy recipes. Other areas are not neglected from side dishes to desserts.

With plenty of tips on using your slow cooker, you'll find this a great cookbook.

Awesome recipes in this book. This is not the same tired old recipes that you see in most cookbooks!!!

I love my slow cooker and haven't seen many paleo slow cooker recipes, so this was a book I instantly wanted to flip through. It has some recipes that look good, though some of them seem rather intricate. I also loathe coconut milk, so that eliminates a number of recipes for me. I've marked a couple of recipes I'm interested in trying. Overall, if you want a healthy slow cooker meal, this is the way to go.

I thought this was a great Paleo cookbook and even better, it was a slow cooker one. I am excited to try many of the recipes and even the extras like the spice combinations and the coleslaw. It is well written and the recipes are easy to read and follow. A terrific book for many slow cooking recipes.
