I was so excited to see a new book by this author, they never disappoint me. Just what I needed to transport me from my ‘boring life’ into some escapism. I loved everything about this book from the cover to the contents. I cant wait to read more.

I have read a lot of Christine's books and this is by far one of my favorites. The story is about Emeline who battled the master vampire to save the children and now she is in the safety of the compound he still haunts her in her dreams. There is also another man there and she feels the need to change the dream to make sure he stays safe so when she meets Dragomir she realizes she knows him from her dreams.
When Dragomir meets Emeline he knows she is his lifemate but he will have a hard time convincing her because Emeline is from the streets and doesn't think she is worthy. Dragomir his to save Emeline as the master vampire is still after her and seems to always be one step ahead of them which means there is a spy in the compound.
As Dragomir and Emeline explore their new relationship they have to battle danger from inside and outside. I loved how the relationship grew and the things they both learned about each other.

I’m pretty much on the fence about this one. It wasn’t my favorite book in the Dark series, but it wasn’t my least favorite either. My favorite goes to the first book in the series, Dark Prince. My least favorite most certainly goes to Dark Promises. I despised that book. I was way too generous with my rating for that book. If I recall correctly, Dark Promises was the book that the Ancients were really introduced. The Ancients are a group of male Carpathians that have served the race for so long that no one remembers how long they’ve been around. They don’t even know how long they’ve been around. They do know that if they’re unleashed on the world that they will be come the very thing they spent their existence hunting. The vampire. To stop that from happening, the Ancients have locked themselves up in a monastery.

These books come out a year apart and I will be honest with you. I can’t remember why the Ancients left the monastery. I believe that it was their Ancient friend that found his TSTL lifemate in Dark Promises gave them hope that their own lifemates were out there, so they are all in search of their own. I know if I had a lifemate like that, I’d run screaming in the opposite direction. For real.

In Dark Legacy, we are back in the world of Dark Carousel. We are with Tariq and Charlotte Asenguard, Charlotte’s little sister, and the little kids they are adopting. Also in the compound is Emeline Sanchez, the savior of all the children. In Dark Carousel, she literally went into a vampire den? Nest? Hideout? She went underground where she knew vampires were holding the children and where they would die, to save them. How did she know? Her dreams. Emeline has been able to dream walk since she was a small child. She knew she would save the children. She also knew she would be caught and have something imaginable happen to her. Still, she couldn’t stay away at the expense of the children’s lives. She was a hero.

After she is rescued and on Tariq’s compound, Emeline is far from safe. The master vampire that tortured her, Vadim Malinov, whispers to incessantly. The blood he made her drink is slowly killing her and she’s afraid he will make her hurt anyone on the compound against her will. From her dreams, she knows that one of the Ancients will be killed trying to protect her, so she stays inside her house to keep everyone safe.

When the time comes that Dragomir and Emeline come face-to-face, it is just as powerful as any other novel in this series. I really don’t know how Feehan does it. It’s pretty amazing. That was the only amazing thing about this romance. The rest of it fell flat. They were absolutely perfect for each other. They were both champions. He was a protector of his race. She was a protector of children. Yet something didn’t fit. It was weird. They should be clicked. But it all seemed forced. It was all very uncomfortable. Dragomir was always very sweet and Emeline genuinely seemed to love him, but I wasn’t feeling it. It wasn’t a bad book by any means, it just wasn’t one for me.

Oh, how I love Christine Feehan! She has always been able to keep this reader wanting increasingly more when every turn of the page! The way she brings the readers into the story almost as if she had written them into the story line right along with the other characters. It truly is amazing just how easily she brings the story to life with every word she has written.

Dragomir has lived centuries with knowing that there was a life mate out there in the world for just him alone, however after so many centuries he had finally found the one person that could bring the light back into his world, but how was he going to be able to convince her of that? Could he be able to convince her that she was his and his alone? Could he be able to keep her safe even without knowing how to not be controlling? There were many things that would have to be done but there was nothing that was going to keep Dragomir from claiming Emeline. He had finally found her and wasn’t going to let her go without a fight and he was more than determined to keep her not matter what.

Emeline had grown up without a family out on the streets, she didn’t know how to belong to a family although she wanted desperately to belong to a family. Emeline had long become accustomed to keeping her head down and to herself. Within the compound that she was staying at there were children she enjoyed watching when it was daylight outside but at night she would keep herself locked up inside her house. She had many secrets she didn’t want to get out to become public knowledge. What a hot man he was! Dragomir made her both terrified as well as inspires an unusual reaction within her. Could he really be the only one for Emeline? Could it be possible?

There are always many things within a Christine Feehan book, adventure, drama, rescuing, as well as romance. If there was anything to be done in your house, cleaning or cooking I would suggest ordering pizza for the family or yourself and just getting into a comfortable chair or couch with a drink and lose yourself within the wonderful book, DARK LEGACY, by the wonderful author Christine Feehan.

I was given the book in exchange for my honest review.

Another great Carpathian novel. The only downside is they can almost be too similar to the last one.

Emeline is hiding something. Something big, but she needs the protection afforded her by living at the compound. But when she is unable to protect the man of her fantasies will she accept the future is not nearly as bleak as her dreams lead her to believe?
Dark Legacy is the latest in Christine Feehan’s Dark Series. I love this series and Ms. Feehan gets better and better as the Carpathians fight for not only themselves but humans as well. Emeline knew what she was risking when she saved the children and it is worth it. But accepting that Dragomir loves her may be more then she can accept and believe in. I love that Ms. Feehan gave us a female character in Emeline who did was necessary even as she could not see how special she is. I love that Dragomir struggles to give Emeline what she needs eve as he fights to feel worthy. Together they blend and fit as a couple. They balance each other. I loved seeing the Carpathians band together to protect those unable to protect themselves. I love that Dragomir gives Emeline the time and space to believe in him. I love that Ms. Feehan continues to add layers to this world and I can’t wait to see where she will take us next!

Danger, intrigue and destined love….

This outing was a wild whirlwind of passion, destiny, hard-won battles and… surprises. I would expect by the twenty-seventh book in any series that surprises would be in short supply. Luckily, that wasn’t the case as Emeline and Dragomir’s story proved to be a unique treat while providing all the elements that make this Dark series one of my favourites.

I felt so much for Emeline’s character. She had never had people of her own yet suddenly she found herself in the worst situations of her life but surrounded by loving friends and family. She and the children were safe but nothing is static in this fantastical world of paranormal vampires and dragons, of magic and mage. The threats against them and the entire clan of Carpathians never goes away and this time the evil is everywhere. Dragomir is a Carpathian hunter and while he has his sights on Emeline, danger is always close at hand. Even as they being their lifemate dance, there is rarely a moment of peace. Emeline has so many reasons to rail against her fate – both the bad and the good – that it is easy to understand her hesitance and fear. Interrupted only by non-stop action, their courtship feels like a trial by fire at times, with so many things ready to derail it. Their bond is strong – at times sweet, sometimes wickedly passionate - but it was not a given that it would be strong enough…

“Feel what I do when you’re holding me. Safe. Cherished.”

At times romantic, and others a bloody battle to the death, the characters and the story kept me wondering the whole time. Surprises around every corner – including a sexy, cloud-drenched scene like no other – I lost myself once again in a world I can’t get enough of! -Diane, 4.5 stars

4.25 Hearts You would think that after 26 books this series would be getting boring or have done all it could do but nope! The Carpathian series is one that could never get old.

Christine Feehan is right up there on the list of Queen of Paranormal novels. As with all of Feehan’s books the characters are delightful to read. The writing is superb and you never want to put it down. And yet are sad when you reach the end of the story.

Emeline is dealing with tainted blood from being forced to exchange blood with a master vampire. When Dragomir saves her the excitement really begins. I looked forward to reading about Dragonmir and didn’t disappoint.

I was waiting for this book! After the events of Dark Crime, I was left on a cliffhanger waiting to see who the healer sent from the Carpathian mountains was, what was going to happen to the children, what was going to happen to Emeline, if my suspicions about her were true or was I jumping into conclusions too fast. So many unanswered questions. But now, Dark Legacy is finally here and hopefully we’ll have answers.

There were several things revealed in this book that only add more to the anticipation for the next book. First, we have Emeline feeling worse and worse everyday by the constant threat that she thinks she is to her friends and the Carpathians. She isolates herself more and more from those living in the compound, with her health deteriorating. Everything changes when she finally lets herself be seen by the Carpathian Dragomir, her true lifemate and not the Master Vampire as she had been made to think. Dragomir struggles as he tries to make Emeline believe and trust him. Eventually, the couple comes to terms accepting each other and their differences, the new challenges they’ll have to face, and being able to trust those around them.

Second, we have the healer sent from the mountains that is no other than… Gary! I did not expect that. I thought that maybe it would be another Daratrazanoff, Skyler, or an unknown healer that the readers hadn’t seen. But sending Gary changes everything. In Dark Promises, it is mentioned that Gary’s lifemate is in Paris, my assumption was that he would go there and we would finally have his book, but no, no Gary story, yet. So now Feehan has sent Gary back to America as THE HEALER, just like what Gregory is to Mikhail, Gary will become to Tariq. This is quite a character development and evolution. Gary started out in book four as a character that helped the Carpathians with the human scientific point of view to their quest to solve the birth problem among their species, he became really close to Gregory and Savannah, helped take care of the human and Carpathian children, and then fought for his life after a critical attack, which lead to his conversion to a Carpathian. Now, he is a second in command. I just love where Feehan is going with his story. I can’t wait to see who his lifemate turns out to be and how she will compliment him.

“I am here to protect you. Mikhail sent to a Daratrazanoff to keep you alive. I will do so whether you wish it or not.”

And finally, something that also took me by surprise, yet it should have not because Feehan has a whole universe of characters waiting to make an appearance, within the tunnels in which the children and Emeline were taken, there was a long lost female Carpathian waiting to be found. The female Carpathian goes by the name of Elisabeta and is found along with a female mage by the name of Julija, who is also a very interesting character and who I hope we see more in future books. The introduction of Elisabeta is quite a surprise because her relatives are ones that we hadn’t heard of in a while, and I just feel that with this new introduction we, as readers, need a Dark Celebration 2 so all the long lost family members and new ones gather and meet. Pretty please?

If my memory serves me well, we are still waiting for some characters to come to America and help with the current situation, which I can’t wait to see, but with Dark Carousel, Crime, and Legacy coming to a sort of trilogy conclusion, we still have to wait and see in what direction Feehan intends to take the story from this point on. There is still a master vampire on the run, and he could go anywhere. But for now, i recommend you read Dark Legacy and catch up on any other Dark series books because it just keeps getting intense.

Dark Legacy brings stunning world building, explosive chemistry and a new paranormal romance from the queen of paranormal romance’s, Christine Feehan.

Emeline Sanchez is caught up in circumstances beyond her control and hiding it from even her closest friends. She is being tortured by an evil vampire by corrupted blood.

An ancient Carpathian, Dragomir comes to her rescue but if Emeline accepts Dragomir she will be rescuing him in return.

This is one of the first paranormal romance series I’ve ever read and here we are 27 books in. We’ve come a long way from Carpathian Mountains to find the Lost Brotherhood and a new group of American leaders. I always enjoy installments in the Dark series. I

Emeline Sanchez never felt worthy of love. She grew up homeless and hungry on the street and that marked her forever.

Even now, living under the protection of Tariq Asenguard and surrounded by Carpathian warriors, she knows that she’s living on borrowed time. Because if anyone discovers the secret that she’s hiding, she won’t make it out alive.

Her dreams are becoming more real and are filled with visions of the one man who both frightens her and ignites her desire. After a harrowing attack on the compound, she would give anything to believe that they were meant to be.

“So you have no objection if I attempt to bind you to me with the ritual words. My soul to yours, understanding it cannot possibly work if we are not true lifemates. With the full understanding that if it did work, you would be bound to me for all eternity.”
She patted the couch again. “If you lie down right here and rest, then you can say the words to me and see for yourself that they won’t work.”
“Your hair is black. A true black. No Carpathian can see a true black once he is beyond his two hundredth year. In my case, it was even before that. He only sees color if he is in the presence of his lifemate and hears her voice.”

Dragomir Kozel is one of the most ancient and feared of the Carpathians. His scars tell the tales of all of his sins - sins that he committed to protect his race. He never thought he would be one of the fortunate ones to actually find his lifemate until her voice brings him out of the dark.

He’s going to fight with everything he has to protect her and her secret. Even if it means his own destruction.

"So many firsts. All perfection. All sensation. The beauty of having a lifemate was beyond anything he had imagined in all the hundreds of years he had sought her. He thought about how he had decided to go back to the monastery because the modern world and the women in it had seemed beyond his reach, yet here she was in his arms, better than any fantasy he had ever imagined. He knew he had to share that knowledge with the others so they didn’t make the mistake he almost made."

In Dark Legacy, Christine weaves another epic love story that is both steeped in magic and sizzling with her signature heat!

Dragomir and Emeline’s story is a tale of sacrifice, of longing and finally of redemption. And it’s because of this unforgettable combination that the Dark series will always captivate us like no other...

DARK LEGACY is the thirty –first installment in Christine Feehan’s DARK CARPATHIANS paranormal, romance series. This is ancient Carpathian warrior Dragomir Kozel, and Emeline Sanchez’s story line. DARK LEGACY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty although there is an ongoing series arc that continues in Dark Legacy. Several of the characters from previous story lines play secondary and supporting roles including a number of Carpathian warriors, from a Carpathian monastery, who have yet to find their lifemates.

NOTE: DARK LEGACY contains scenarios and references to rape, sexual assault of women and children.

SOME BACKGROUND: All Carpathian males must find their lifemates before they turn vampire or greet the dawn. Without a lifemate, the males no longer see in color, feel pain or experience emotions. A lifemate is the light to their dark. She is the keeper of his heart and the keeper of his soul. As the unmated Carpathian male ages, the darkness begins to envelope his soul.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Dragomir and Emeline) DARK LEGACY continues to focus on the search for a master vampire. Dragomir Kozel, a Carpathian warrior, has yet to find his lifemate, and like many of the ancients, he struggles with his lack of emotions, colors, and the pull of the dark side. Now that Tariq Asenguard (Dark Carousel) has found his lifemate, he has opened his home and his California compound to a number of homeless children and women, whose own psychic abilities have attracted the evil vampires-former Carpathian warriors-who have lost the battle with evil, or have given up finding the mate of their heart. Enter Emeline Sanchez, a young psychic woman whose recent capture and torture by Vadim Malinov has left our heroine struggling with the lure of dark side, and her belief that she is no longer pure for the Carpathian world. What ensues is the quick building relationship between Dragomir and Emeline, and the numerous battles between the Carpathian warriors, and two master vampires with hopes of destroying the Carpathian race.

Emeline Sanchez was brutally tortured and raped by Vadim Malinov. Now with Xavier’s parasites, and an even more prominent reminder of her recent ordeal, Emeline knows that she is a liability to the Carpathian males, and anyone who considers our heroine his mate. As a psychic female, Emeline is a potential mate for one of the Carpathian males but her dreamwalking, precognizant abilities push our heroine towards a warrior who figures prominently in her dreams. Dragomir Kozel knows the reluctant Emeline Sanchez is his lifemate-with his emotions and colors restored, Dragomir is determined to rid his lifemate of the painful parasites, and complete Emeline’s conversion before Vadim Malinov returns to finish the job. But there is something more about Emeline than anyone could have imagined; she hides several psychic abilities and a lingering reminder of Vadim’s cruel and methodical ways.

The relationship between Emeline and Dragomir is one of immediate attraction but Emeline is hesitant to trust another Carpathian male. Her experience with the vampire has left our heroine broken yet determined to protect the other children that Vadim took control. The limited $ex scenes are intimate and intense without the over the top, sexually graphic language and text but as per CF’s style of writing, they are very long and detailed

There is a very large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including the newly turned and very powerful Gary Daratrazanoff, Tariq and Charlotte, Maksim and Blaze, triplets Tomas, Lojos, and Matais, ancients Petru, Andor, Isai, Ferro, Sandu and Benedek, as well as the orphaned children found in Vadim’s underground lair-Danny, Amelia, Lourdes, Bella and Liv, and their nanny Genevieve Marten. The requisite evil has many faces including the return of both Vadim and Sergey Malinov.

DARK LEGACY is a graphically violent story line with fight scenes reminiscent of Dark Demon and Dark Slayer, and the familiarity of Xavier’s experiments, imprisonment and torture; there is plenty of action that, at times, got bogged down with too many characters. The Carpathian race remains at war with the Malinov brothers but a war that has intensified with the possibility of another Malinov heir. With the ‘reemergence’ of Xavier a few stories back, his ‘triplet’ lineage continues with the appearance of another mage who may or may not be a lifemate to one of the ancient warriors. The premise is entertaining but familiar; the characters and romance are similar to many of the previous story line couples. Christine Feehan’s DARK LEGACY continues the author’s escape into the supernatural world of the Carpathian male and the woman that will save his soul.

This addition to the series carried on with the ongoing story of the rescued children and their caregivers. The romance was of course, hot – and the threatening danger started on page one. All that said, it was not a favorite Carpathian novel of mine, other than it moved the story along. It seemed to have a lot of the same things happening over and over. Different people, but repetitive actions that became boring. Dragomir and Emeline were nothing memorable either. I had hoped for something new to keep the Carpathian world exciting. I did enjoy it, just not near as much as the earlier ones.

Christine Feehan is one of my favorite authors. I have to schedule time to read her books because when I pick one up I don't put it down until I reach the last page!

I'm loving that the author is continuing to follow the arc that involves the Ancients who were encouraged to leave their monestry and take a chance on finding lifemates in the modern world. Plus with all the recent upheaval in California there are several Carpathians in and around the home that Tariq has made. It's getting pretty crowded as recently the Carpathians have been helping to rescue several victims of Vampires and one of them is Emeline. Emeline knows how tough life on the streets can be but she never knew true pain until held captive, tormented and brutalised by the Vampire Vadim. Now she's trying desperately to avoid the Ancient Dragomir as she's had disturbing dreams about him but she has an even bigger secret and it's one that she really can't hide for much longer. As Vadim gets closer and grows more bold Emeline will need to trust someone but can she really put those she cares for in danger?
This series is always full of males who think their women need protecting and it's fun seeing all that arrogance and their old fashioned ideas being trashed in this story. Dragomir is full of himself and truly believes he is this too dangerous to be close to kind of guy. I absolutely loved the way he was teased by fellow Ancient Sandu and honestly it was high time for some levity amongst these all too hardened warrior types. Plus although there is still chanting ( which previously has been excessive) it was definitely on the back burner and just used occasionally to enhance all that was going on.
Yes there are battles because hey it's good versus evil but wow the author really amped up the danger here and all I can say is aquatic life will never be viewed by this reader quite the same way again! Vadim might not exactly be a Mage but together with his brother he's one who clearly isn't afraid to use dark magic which puts all those protected by Tariq probably more at risk than ever before . Luckily though there's someone powerful around to lend a healing hand but to find out just who has returned you really need to read this book because it's starting to look like the Carpathian's are branching out!
This is essentially a romance so yes it gets very steamy and Dragomir takes direction very well! Oh who am I kidding? Emeline might have suffered unbearably but she's made for her lifemate so obviously wants to experience everything he can give her although if honest Dragomir gets an idea and runs with it! I really did like that Dragomir handled the truth about Emelines incarceration without a blink, he never stuttered or made her feel at fault in any way. Whilst Emeline herself felt so very unclean and downright dirty Dragomir said and did everything right and isn't that what we expect from a hero? Perhaps this right here is why I rate this a four as it just seemed that after all that abuse and pain no normal woman would be 'up for it' that soon. Although nobody ever said these characters are normal!
So an enjoyable read and I genuinely am happy that there still seems to be more to write about these Carpathians but I just thought it ended quite abruptly. Still with both old and even new characters here I'm hoping it won't be too long until we find out what will happen next.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

Oh, wow, another amazing book in this series! I mean, I've loved this series since I found her books. So it was so great to have another book in this series! Emaline and Dragomir were an amazing couple, and I loved watching them grow together and in their relationship!

Loved reading this book, so much! Both of them are very strong-in different ways. She underwent torture by the bad guy, knowingly, to save the kids, and is dealing with so much. And he's been without his light for so long, he was in the Monastery. So yeah, they were a great couple! And as was pointed out, each couple is unique, and each have to find the way that they fit together. Emaline is not a warrior woman like Blaze, but she's not a mouse, either. Just so fantastic!

There were a lot of developments in this book! Like Emaline's ability, and how far reaching it is, and how useful. There were also the power struggles within the vampires, and a few secrets were revealed that'll change this world! So awesome!

Man, I'm so looking forward to the next book in this series! There's so many directions it could go in, and so many couples it could be, both known and unknown, and developing future couples like Liv and Val, but she's only 10. So a ways away, but they can still get to know each other and such!

Such a great book, and I an now going to wait impatiently for the next book in this wonderful series!

Dragomir is always looking out for his woman, "he paused at the door and turned back to her. “Before you go outside, sívamet, you might want to add undergarments. Personally, I like you without panties and a bra, but I’m not so certain you will be as thrilled when someone else notices.” I liked this book, it was an okay read, other books in the series were a bit more enjoyable than this one. I'm not completely sure why I wasn't in love with the book, all I know is that it was an okay read.
