An emotionally satisfying story. This is what I call a "wrong thinking" story. Our hero, Phillip, has allowed his life decisions to be controlled by guilt and shame over his older brother's death. He vows never to marry and have a family of his own. Rose was married at a very young age to an older duke. After his death she lives the life of a merry widow, but she dearly loves her young son. Phillip and Rose have a two-year-long passionate affair. Trouble erupts as Rose realizes she wants more, but Phillip cannot give up his vows.

The strongest thing about A Love to Remember is how much Phillip and Rose really love each other. An interesting twist is that the passionate lovemaking comes first and the move to a solid family relationship comes later. The reader so desperately wants these two to work things out because they are clearly deeply in love with each other. Member of the Libertine Scholars help Phillip and Rose work out their issues. A good, solid read.

A historical romance with a bit of mystery and second-chance love. This novel is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone book (this one was the first in the series I've read and I had no problem keeping up with the storyline or characters). The mystery part did have some twists and surprises and the romance was fitting as well as endearing. The characters are intriguing, the MCs and the supporting cast. I will give this author another try for sure. For historical romance fans.

Intense historical romance novel with a great story line. It pulls you in from the beginning and I didn't want to put it down once I started reading.

LOVED this story!!

We've seen Rose and Philip in the other Disgraced Lords stories, so I was excited to see that Evans had written their story. It was heartbreaking at times, but you know they will get their HEA.

Definitely a great addition to the Disgraced Lords series!! I can't wait for the next one!

A Love to Remember is a beautifully written story of redemption and forgiveness. Philip Flagstaff is the new Earl of Cumberland after his brother Robert dies saving Philip from certain death. He carries the guilt with him and vows never to marry and carry on his title but instead hand it down to his younger brother. What saves him is an affair he starts with Rose Deverill. It brings him some solace in his half-life he deems himself to live. What each of them doesn’t realize is that time isn’t on their side when it comes to social obligations. They both need to decide if this affair can be more or will they have to give up the love of their life.

Oh my goodness this was a great story to read. It had intrigue and villains, and of course a grand romance. Philip and Rose may have passionate sex when they can find the time with one another but they also found that special someone that they can confide in trust them completely. Both were in agreement when they started this affair that it was only going to be about sex and nothing more. However over time Rose has changed her mind and wants more children and a marriage to put her n better standing for her young son’s future as a duke. Philip has his reasons for never wanting to marry or have his own children and they amicably separate. They both just didn’t realize how hard it is going to be apart when they are constantly running into each other in the same social circles.

The story is totally engaging and I had a hard time putting it down. It swept me away in how much I could feel their love for one another but couldn’t breech the chasm of letting he love her and marry her. I thought there was a good balance of angst and romance, along with suspense and mystery of who was out to hurt Rose and her son. I haven’t read the other stories in the series so I know it can be read without any confusion, or getting snippets of backstory of the other couples from the earlier books. It did however want me to read them and I plan to do that soon. The author wrote a period piece and showed me how much I love historical romances. I fell in love with Rose and Philip and was so happy that they got their happy ending.

Bronwen Evens has done it again and written another excellent story. Her stories are written with such description that you will understand the just of the story. The characters are fun loving with a passion for life. Ms.Evens plots bring the stories she writes bring the stories to life as they are full of a mystery that needs to be solved. Great book.

A compelling story with complex and intriguing characters. It has romance, suspense, plenty of heat, survivals guilt and emotions. It's well written and draws the reader in from the start to the end. I recommend to any one who enjoys a sexy romance. I received this as a gift and voluntarily give this review

Phillip and Rose story was just wonderful. I loved that they were already lovers and only needed to work out the stubborn kink in their hearts to find happy every after. There was a villain thrown in with a dastardly plot, but it added a nice complexity to the overall plot. I really enjoyed this read. 4.25 stars

A Love to Remember is a historical romance novel about Rose and Phillip, two people who have always loved each other but refused to marry. Eventually, Rose does want to marry and have children, but Phillip is still dead set against that lifestyle, so they break up. Unfortunately, they still have feelings for each other and have to cope with being alone. Will they end up back together, stay friends, or what?

I didn't really like the plot until the last 1/3 of the book, where everything became high stakes and dangerous. Rose was the typical "strong, independent woman" up to a point where she seemed to just become useless and dependent on Phillip for everything. I understand wanting to marry, there's nothing wrong with that, but she just becomes so helpless and fragile.

The romance was interesting. There weren't many sex scenes, which surprised me, considering most adult romance novels have one almost every chapter. The relationship between Phillip and Rose was very dependent and needy, and it seemed a bit uncomfortable to read about at times.

The book wasn't amazing, but for what it was, it wasn't horrible. If you want a quick, sappy romance novel with some actually decent plot, this is for you.

Rose Deverill, is a merry widow, looking forward to her life with only her son to care for with no need or desire to marry again. That is truly how she felt until she began her relationship with Philip Flagstaff, the Earl of Cumberland.

Philip knew Rose since she was a child but it wasn’t until he met her again at his brother’s gravesite that he saw her as a desirable woman. She was just what he needed to ease the pain of losing his beloved older brother but she could never ease his guilt, no one could do that. If his brother hadn’t followed him to war to look after him, Robert, the perfect one, would still be the Earl. As penance, Phillip vowed never to marry or have an heir of his own. Time has not changed his course but it has for Rose, as she fell in love with Phillip and only marriage could allow them to stay together.

Would his guilt ever allow him to love Rose as she so deserved?

What a wonderful story beginning with a unique set-up of seeing the couple already in a two year relationship. Right off the bat you see the conflict of the heroine being so in love and the hero being content with their affair. Yes, he may want more time with her but he really isn’t looking for marriage, even if that means losing Rose.

Philip was so ignorant at times with how he could easily hurt Rose with his words or actions. I was really angered by him at times but did want Rose to have her happy ending. He did start to come around but too slowly and without enough groveling. The epilogue was a nice capper and needed in order to fully redeem the hero.

As always I would like to thank NetGalley and Random House Loveswept for providing us with a copy of this book so that we could bring you this review.

The heaviness and guilt that Phillip carries with his for what happened to Robert at Waterloo is so sad. It is a pain that underlines every decision that he makes, even the one that is to shut himself off of love. Its wonderful to see that Rose has always been his supporter and shows him strength, its just sad that she ends up having to marry someone else. No wonder she becomes the "Wicked Widow" and is willing to give her body to any and every one, but her heart will always belong to Phillip. It was great to see how Rose is finally able to show Phillip it is ok to be happy and to love, how Robert wouldn't have wanted him to put his life on a happiness on hold because he survived and Robert didn't. She helped him see that by not being happy and living life he is disgracing and wasting the sacrifice that Robert made.

I give this book 5 sacrificing kisses.

Happy reading... Adri

This one was just ok for me. Both characters were hard to connect with on any level, it was a jolt to start the novel feeling as though you've been dumped into the middle of the story already taking place. The leading characters had been together many years by the start of the novel. Many novels pull this off effortlessly, this one left me feeling like I'd missed getting to know the characters beforehand. In short: typical romance fare with a non-typical story-line. Recommended to die-hard historical romance fans looking for a fresh story-line from the typical "brooding dude desires innocent maiden" plot.

A love To Remember strikes all the right cords for that sensuous, stubborn, dangerous Historical Romance style that I completely enjoy. I’m sorry to say that I’ve read only one other story in this series… and I will have to fix that oversight in the near future.

It was easy to understand the view point for both Rose and Philip. They each had their good reasons for the decisions they’d made about how they would live their lives. Yet, good intentions aren’t always enough to hold onto when that right person arrives. Even though Rose had loved Philip in a young girl’s fashion, their lives took different directions. Now she’s a widow intent on making a reputation stick that ensures she’ll never marry again. Philip has come into the title through his brother’s death. His vow to never marry is fueled by guilt and stubbornness When they reunite as willing and consenting adults Philip and Rose go up in flames. But it’s not only their passion involved, in each other they are finding that confidant, that one person who understand them without explanation. Their lives would be perfect as lovers if Rose hadn’t changed the rules… and if danger wasn’t on their doorstep..

I enjoyed A Love To Remember. The emotions of Philip and Rose are very clearly felt… and their stubbornness as well. While Rose did change their rules, Philip couldn’t stand behind his decision to part, especially when she was in dire danger. The villain’s reveal was done so well. Overall, this was a romance that worked, was believable and completely enjoyable. I’d recommend this story to any Historical Romance reader.

I love the long lost love storyline. I did feel that stubbornness and loyalty kept them from reuniting sooner. Easy read and very nice book.

Rose has loved Phillip for years but due to her determination to never marry again and his guilt for his elder brother, these two seem destined to only be lovers. Good story line in this series of disgraced lords with suspense .
Ebook from netgalley and publisher with thanks. Opinion are entirely my own.

It's book 7 of a series, which I've never read, but it worked for me as a stand alone. Philip Flagstaff is a younger son who becomes earl when his brother dies in the war. I liked Rose, the widowed Duchess of Roxborough, who tries to help Philip overcome his guilt and move on, as their relationship builds. Philip was an engaging and believable character, and the book kept me happily turning pages.

This story pulled me in from the beginning and I did not want to stop reading. It engaged my heart and mind. I laughed, I cried, and cheered for Rose and Phillip. The passion between these two is off the charts. As they try to find their ways out of their pasts into a future, you root for them to see what is right in front of their eyes. I highly recommend this story, and I have enjoyed the series but feel that this is the best one. This is a must read.

I received a copy of this story through Netgalley, and this is my unsolicited review.

After a loveless marriage to a man older than her father, Rose Deverill vows to never marry again. To thwart men from pursuing her for marriage, she decides to ruin her reputation and have some not so secret affairs. When the man that stole her heart at a young age, appears back in her life, they start a hot affair until their future paths threaten to separate them.
This was a pretty good story. I’m not much into reunited loves, but it captured my attention throughout the entire book. The author does a great job in creating the characters and telling a story that makes you want to finish it.
